And then I wake up elsewhere. I’m standing in a stone room, but it’s not the Fortress that Moves. It looks like the inside of a church or something. There’s some kind of writing burned into the floor and a dead monk sprawled by the altar at the end with a throwing knife stuck in his face.

It’s chilly... I’m... eek! I’m not wearing my armor... instead I’m wearing some skimpy outfit of metal and leather which shows off way more than it covers. I’m carrying a sword of um... gleaming black iron that glows with red runes. Oh and I’m wearing black thigh boots with armor on them.

I jerk back from the font, blinking, realizing I look at least a year or two older than I was. The tattoos are similar to ones I've seen on various minions of the formless lord, though mine seem designed to enhance my beauty. Talking of that, looking at myself in the mirror shows I'm awfully well styled compared to what I was, I seem to be wearing make up.

There's a sound behind me, the church doors are opening. A woman's voice sounds "Sister? Are you finished?"

If such is the case, then Vaaruis could set up a... backup plan.

Essentially, a lone soldier could be put in command of a dirigible (steal it, claim it, buy it, whatever is necessary), and ordered to stay in public airspaces, but be ready to divebomb the Moorsis capital building(s), potentially killing many of the ruling class.

A pretty potent threat to hold over their heads, should Vaaruis end up in a precarius situation before then.

Firl should be given attention. Information gleaned from a prisoner, especially one potentially affiliated with nobility, could be quite useful.

You see the skull-wearing one palm his face.

You open the door to see three of the kobolds staggering around, and you punch one of them with your RIGHT hand.

It stops. Entirely. you feel a small section of chain vanish from your hand, and the kobold you hit is utterly, completely frozen, as if time had stopped around it. Small blue chains bind its torso.

Take out the LONG SHARP KNIFE and stab one of the others. Try to hit the third one with your LEFT hand.

You unsheathe the blade and sink it into another creature's chest while the other lunges at you. You deal a DEVASTATING UPPERCUT under its jaw, sending it flying across the room.

Shriek and step on the others.

Oh, fer certain.

First off, the whole place is underground. Something about 'thinking in three ways', Awk said. It was collapsed when we arrived, and some areas still are, but he's got most of it cleared out. Here's a map of this floor.

Appaerently he took his name, got the cloak, and then designed the place. There's a damn BALLISTA trap in the main hall, not arrow, BALLISTA. There's blades that can shoot out of the doorways and slice a person clean in half, and both are triggered by switches in our rooms.
The empty rooms are pit traps. One has a bed that Awk states he sleeps in every three days. The other has a treasure chest.
The hall to the Armoury seems to be choked with rubble, but there's a hidden switch that dumps that. There's one on the other side to fill it up, too.

Those lead down to the main hall. The pit trap there is more for speed than danger, really, most demons can take a fall of ten feet. It surprises invaders, too.

This floor is for our habitation. Next floor down is armoury and barracks, which is simple and only has one trap: the inhabitants. The Beasts are wide 'n' varied, but you know, it's almost like home!

Any of them good for conversation? Or perhaps you could watch them spar to get some more idea how fighting works here.

If we go to site A we won't have any water without hiking through the forest to the lake. We're not dwarves and we probably won't find any underground rivers or lakes. Play it safe. Go C.

We can do the exact same mining schenanigans at sites B or C and we'll have easy access to a much larger mountain range. We may not get silver deposits but we'll have a much greater chance of striking useful metals like iron and bronze. You want underground farming we can do that as well, we'll also have a much greater chance of finding caves and things amidst the snow topped mountains that we will upon that rocky hill up north. A is a death trap.

site C will provide the best in the long term, Fertile farmlands are very sustainable, hunting and fishing not so much.
