Okay... this butler's got a screw loose, but he's also got some answers.

We need to ask our questions carefully so we don't rush into this blindly.

I ask him.

[b]"Very, very much so. Your target... is rather special. You see, things are not exactly normal in that mirror world. You need to be extremely cautious around him, because if he knows how something is constructed, down to the last minute particle..."

Hey, that's a good point... so I ask him.

"Well... I apologize for blowing things out of proportion there. You see, it seems much more intimidating if you say it that way. What I mean is this.

"If he knows what basic elements something is comprised of, he can deconstruct it. So if he knew the elements and materials that went into, say, a door... he could make it completely disappear. So knowledge is extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. Be very wary.

"Speaking of knowledge... let me explain how this world works. You must be able to move around efficiently to survive. On each of your persons I have placed a colored marker. There are five of each color, one on each side. These are the keys to moving across.

"Each of you have been assigned a parallel in the other world. You are linked in life and death, and without this link, this other world could not exist. The both of you are allowed to be on the same side at once, though. In order to switch sides, you draw an O on your side of the mirror. The person on the other side may draw an O to accept or an X to decline.

"Now... I will not allow all of you to remain on the 'normal' side. It is only allowed to stay at a 6:4 ratio at most.

"Now... this is a lot to remember. You may figure things out on your own, but remember. Be extremely careful. I have set up stations further inside of the mansion for you to contact me at later times.

"I shall await good news at the next station..."

Holy crap... I hope somebody wrote all of that down....

Either way, looks like we need to head further inside. What should we do first?

If you can only switch places with someone, how can the ratio of people ever change?

How the hell will you know what this guy looks like? What if you run into him?

A couple things we should keep in mind.
-The people in our side should scout ahead first, since the target is in the mirror side currently. (And we should keep it that way!!!)
-Always, Always, confirm who drew a circle on a mirror before marking it yourself. And don't initiate a circle without making sure the person you want to swap with is right there, safe.

Ok, for now, check yourself (and maybe encourage others) to look for these colored markers. I'm surprised we hadn't noticed it earlier. Maybe it is on our back, or the back of our neck. Or hidden in clothing.

I need to add to my own post.

Also, we need to think of how to adjust our bodies composition. Drugs, strange materials in clothing, or I don't know. We'll see if something comes up. That may give us some measure of protection against this guy. There's not much we can do now, but you might suggest it to the others, to get them thinking about it. We don't know what was in their rooms after all.

You know, despite all of that talking, that butler wasn't very helpful at all! I'll ask him a few things when we get to that checkpoint he told us about. Those are some good ideas though, I'll keep them in mind.

But for now, we need to be careful. I reach into my pants pocket, amazed I didn't notice it before. It's a red marker.... The thought of that butler reaching into my pants to put it there isn't a pleasant one, though.

To break the silence, I knock on the mirror and speak up.

"Alright, everybody! I... guess we should introduce ourselves. I'm Marco, and... well, I'm a dropout. My marker's red."

>>
No. 333645 ID: eba49f

Once you get contact with the people on the other side, there is something important for you to test:
One of you on each side should try exchanging markers with someone then activating a switch. This is important because it will tell if each marker works for whoever holds it or whether the marker is bound to the individual.

Also, ask Elanna what was up with the explosion. Can she produce those at will or does she have a pocket full of bombs?

Sydney rushes over towards our side of the mirror and bangs on the glass. "Max...?! Maximillian, don't touch that!"

It looks like Sydney's a bit anxious. "Maximilian?! Stop that, don't touch it! You need to switch over here this instant!"

"Go to hell, dad, this is awesome! I ain't leaving!" Oh lord, he's got his father's accent....

Sydney raises an eyebrow. "I guess... I'm going over there then...."

Hey, that's a good idea. We need to test these markers and pick sides! Sydney's obviously on the other side with his son, so somebody will switch there. It looks like I'm the leader anyways, so I could probably designate who goes where within reason... or I could just choose a side myself.

What should I do?

Okay, we need to make sure these things work like we want them to. I let everybody know about the idea, and of course, Sydney's going on our side.

And in a moment... he's gone. The Asian man just suddenly appears on our side.

"Feel like... sick........."

Yikes.

But that's how it's going to work, it seems. We could always experiment with other things, or I could make my final decision.

Should I stay here, or switch to the other side to help them out?

That is what we just did. Sydney's original marker is orange.

You should advise the people on the other side to stay away from the remaining bodies. If they can carry markers, they can carry more troublesome things.

Okay, so that settles it. Sydney went through with my marker, and Shun came through with a random person's marker. It's decided by who draws the circle, not who has which color.

The girl with the hockey stick speaks up from the other side. "Call me insane, but I'd like to get moving before another one of these bodies hits the floor. Now if anybody else wants to come over here, speak up, or I'm leaving! We need to get to the next checkpoint so I can have a word with that bitch of a butler!"

Yikes, remind me not to get on her bad side. Should I stay on this side and play it safe, or head over there and help out?

Well, I've got a few choices here....

I could be there hero and go keep Kazzly safe.

I could also just stay over here and play it safe.... Nobody else seems to speaking up about changing sides. Though I don't think Arietta even knows what's going on anymore. It must really suck to be deaf right now.

Either way, I've got to decide now!

No. I don't trust switching.

Wait... what? I try to argue with her a bit further, but she just keeps adamantly shaking her head.

Okay, this side seems safe, so we should explore a bit. As I suggest it, Arietta shakes her head and heads up the middle door, the one that had the "DO NOT ENTER" sign on it.

"Do whatever you want, but I don't want to stay here any longer than I have to. I'm gonna go and find the next checkpoint, wherever that is."

Veronica speaks up. "W-wait, shouldn't we... look around first?"

Hm... the next checkpoint isn't in any of the starting rooms, so it's probably through that door. It looks like people want to split up either way, though.
