He has a 'Somewhat off-time' pocket watch with him, but not the one that you accidentally sold. We've only been with him since about when the car driving him most of the way to town dropped him off, and he walked the rest of the way. This was about a day before you bumped into each other in the shop while you were trying to get the watch back. Was that about the time you sold it?

((Sorry for all the deleting and correcting, guys.))

It's just something my father found somewhere out in the middle east, I wasn't on that adventure but there was some kinda cult and stuff.

Apparently this big tower of guys that got cemented in by crazy warlord. I have to stay still while casting, but worth it to be able to close up my wounds. Knowing a related ritual too, more powerful but similar, makes most anything a more potent weapon.

Also have some other unrelated magic my family gathered through the ages. Feuerfelds have been in the buisness since the Renaissance. Used to host some immortal mystery circle, that got driven over the ocean in an Inquisition. However, kept a lot of their stuff and managed to turn a nice profit on the black market.
>>
No. 207457 ID: c4c313
Oh, this may or may not make you feel better, but you were right about the towers. When that laser happened we were momentarily ejected into what seemed like the future. We got a glimpse of a (then ancient) recording of this very day's bridge fiasco from the perspective of the beings controlling it. The recording was described as integral to "The Incident" which you are now part of, an incident that will (apparantly) go down in history, so, congratulations... I guess. May you live in interesting times.

The contents of the recording were most useful though, since it was recording the beings in control of the towers who so destroyed your group. Apparantly the beings in control of the towers could indeed see you, but posed you no ill will personally. They had been ordered by their superior to maintain "quarantine." They also seemed rather lax in their duties, even joking with each other, so despite their awesome offensive capabilities, you might be able to exploit their lack of attention. I can only think that quarantine refers to the flesh monsters you encountered earlier, but it might be something else.

Interesting, but no I lost contact with you immediately after my father's assistant witlessly sold you to buy some useless failing buisness. Said we "needed a new base of local operations." We 'used' to fund the local 'mine' in hopes of opening up a deeper, more profitable passage into the ruins, but somehow the papers changed hands... still have my lawyers trying to track 'zhat leddle problem' down.

>>207457
Lovely, my family has been aware of this site since 1854, shortly after the town's founding, the old Spanish mission here had some 'interesting' tales associated with it. The flesh-beasts however, those are new to me. The fact that the city itself will try to kill you... old news.

Now, which way?

>>207463

Inspect the debris to your right, and then follow the way further away from the bridge. If you follow along those windows it's possible the tower guys could detect movement and take out the whole passageway with their weapons, but you be the judge of the hazard of going that way.
>>
No. 207469 ID: c4c313
Oh, and sorry I didn't mean to emphasize that the city was trying to kill you. That was obvious from day 1. The two points I was trying to make were "The Incident" meaning you're about to make history. And the other is "Quarantine" meaning that those towers were attacking you specifically to prevent the spread of some kind of contagion, transmitted by human (or humanoid) figures. My guess is that directly relates to those flesh beasts you faced, and the towers probably prevented them from reaching this far, but that is just a guess.

You consider the possibility that we ourselves are the contagion? Still, let us try to avoid touching anything too nasty looking today. I would plan to live to see the day we refer to all this as a mere "Incident."

In absence of anything else I would suggest transporting them in some of that discarded piping. It's stiff, so should protect them somewhat from being crushed. Plus the deadly radiation those crystals are emitting would get absorbed by the ceramic casing.

hahaah, yeah. of course, if they are all trying to kill you in the end it doesn't really matter what they are. also keep in mind that any real species would need female members, see where i'm going with this? can only hope they are not ugly.

got any coins? flip one and go the way it says to. heads is left path, tails is forward.

Determine the source of the smell. Strange... the corner of that wall looks blasted off. Is there a tower nearby?

Oh you can surely have a mono-gender race, what about Harpies? or Satyrs... wait or were there female Satyrs? Fairly sure they never mentioned female Centaurs either... never heard of a female Goblin, female Trolls yes, Goblin, no. Thought they just steal children and turn them into Goblins? wait, no focus...

>>213174
Suspect we are on corner of an interior courtyard. Well 'more' interior that that 'Tower Canyon'. Can dimly see the other side at least, and some kind of bottom.

Don't see any revolving lights, but there is something here behind the wall. Think we can mark up that smell to the local drug of choice or perhaps whatever's cooking there?

oh, this would be a nice place to set up a counter ambush. they would have to come here to eat and then you can knock one out and interrogate it. and is that a glowing knife on the ground?

...and that gold bowl outside is full of teeth, the preferred wall-paint is blood and charcoal, ect. thus initial suspicion of pygmy cannibals.

>>213421
Perhaps, although the still warm food and smoking drugpipe/fiddle... thing... seem to indicate this site was hurriedly and recently vacated. Also recognize bone cage structure in corner as weaponry rack, notable for it's current emptiness.

Dagger is bronze and well balanced for throwing, we don't see anything else unusual about it, but could come in handy

We scout immediate surroundings to ascertain we are still alone and as to the possible use of this site as an ambush. Noted that some of graffiti script seems somehow familiar to us. Would have to check our notes but seems... vaguely familiar.

The locale has the air of a former market or perhaps apartments that have been reinforced or collapsed. The area has seen some viscous battles we warrant.

The lower floor looks to have a kind of garden full of tuberous fungi.

Should we consider setting up an ambush here? Remember, we grow hungry and tire, having not slept in a day or so.
>>
No. 214259 ID: a594b9
Hungry and tired? Hm. What would you do about that? I doubt there's anywhere safe to sleep around here. Finding food might not be as difficult.

Food, not a problem, already have rations even some meat already cooked here, still warm, if we wanted it. It's a bit tough and over-seasoned so we can pass.

Inspected local writings and determined that some of the origional engravings match proto-Lomaran and post-exilic-Lemuran of the rest of the ruin structures. Albeit more syntactic relation to Lemurian than usual, indicating earlier construction than the other mapped sections.

However, graffiti still eludes me, I know it's not Pnakotik at least, no, no. Not curvy enough, no math involved, too artistic and free for Stygian either...

Wait, no, focus, yes have to get out! First must find a fortified place to sleep. Then if we could determine the rough direction of the "Eye to Eternity", and ascend stairwell, perhaps take the way out that preacher came in?

Right. Let's get to exploring then. If we can find an isolated room behind a door we can lock or something it'd be a good place to sleep. The poison is an issue though. Can't periodically heal yourself while sleeping. Gonna have to wait for it to wear off first.

I suggest you wander off a bit past the fungal garden while munching on that food we found.

Mmhh jah, like turkey a bit, but the head is all wrong, has teeth and no beak.

Can't shake the feeling we are being watched though.

So, assuming these are goblins what do we expect? Aside from artistic expression with blood and bone?

Hear they haunt mines and be making them to collapse in stories. Wouldn't collapse this place would they? They live here!

We follow the soft slapping of bare feet on stone to see the creature reeling and stumbling it's way hurriedly into the darkness down the passage, whimpering as it clutches the wound.

Do we take the shot?

tempting, but we can capture it and at least use pictography to ask some simple questions, we are lacking in information that it may be able to tell us.

We take the chance to rush and kick it over, stepping on good arm to keep our hands free, must cover ourselves after all.

<'Ayh Danu! Tchacan galamanora corigana felafola tunegdani...'>

The little beast whines and babbles a bit, flailing it's wounded arm before we put on a bit more pressure. Gunshot loud enough without the bastard drawing in more.

Now then, how do we actually, do this?

Not much for words now are we voices? Not that I should really be surprised having lost our foci... still...

Well then let us try simple.

"erh, Parle vous francais? Prāt jy Afrikaans? Bititkallim'ee 'arabi? Nǐ huìbúhuì jiǎng guóyŭ huáyŭ pŭtōnghuà? אתה מדבר עברית? Loquerisne Latine? شما فارسي صحبت مي کنيد؟ ཁྱེད་རང་བོད་ཤེས་ཀྱི་ཡོད་པས།
...
Sprichst du Deutsch?"

Damn I don't think we are going anywhere with the linguistics today. Miserable little thing just squirms and blubbers more.

Don't have rope to tie it up either. If we are going to be doing some pictograms then we want a safer place than a damn open hallway!
