[5 eyes]: Hello, i'm an up and coming hunter and i need some supplies. I was told to come here to urts ans ask for a starting package.

[Regina]... how silly can you get. Lemme guess, the guy that told you is some sort of drifter who peddles info.

[5 eyes] ... so... do i get a starting package?

[Regina]There's no such thing, idiot.

[Regina] I'll sell you anything, but first i need to know how much money you're wiling to spend and how much you have on you.

[5 eyes] ...I have 4k of credits. And I want things for being a bounty hunter.

[Regina] ...look at this sign, you know what it says? Regi's Shop- nowhere on this sign does it say catering to retards. Now, I want to know what specifically you want.

These are good. Also get:

-metal restraints (for when bringing in targets alive is doable and more profitable)

[5 eyes] rope, grappling hook, a hold out weapon, rations... preferably something sweet, metal restraints, more rations for just in case, compass and some maps for places that are preferably over saturated with bounties.

[Regina] Most of it I can get you, you need to specify what type of low calibur weapon you want, and you are not- I repeat NOT- going to get any map from me unless you are specific. It's like you're expecting to land, walk out, then just grab a bounty out of the random miscellaneous hordes of peoples on the planet.

[5 eyes] ...I...

[Regina] ...you... you are not prepared to be a hunter- did you just decide this at the drop of a hat? I don't even know if you can handle this stuff. Do you even have a ship? How are you going to get your intel, and most importantly- have you ever even detained anyone?

[5 eyes] well then the obvius choice since you are more experienced then me then i need you. How much?

[Regina] Nope, you can't have (since i'm very well off here) but I Can sell you contacts and information. But like I keep saying you have to be very specific on who you want info on. If you have a broadcasting unit you can tune to the galactic hit list that's run on the Law Enforcement feed... now if you ask me for a broadcasting unit and a ship i will throw a fit.

No. 437250 ID: 842d23

Oh, this is a space based setting? That makes it harder, as buying and maintaining a ship is kind of pricey and requires a decent chunk of start up cash.

A primitive setting would have been easier, you just walk to where you need to be.

Weapon- you want some kind of ranged weapon. You want something cheap, reliable, and practical. We don't know the physics and tech of your setting yet, so that could be an energy weapon, or ballistics. You also want some kind of close range weapon (probably a blade of some kind). Again, I'm unsure of material (metal, ceramic, energy)- we don't know what's practical and possible yet.

You should inquire after purchasing a ship (doubt you can afford one yet though), or the possability of local contracts.

[Regina]*Sigh* Fine, i'll act the middle man. The closest ship export is not in this station. you must have come here on the cruise line. I'll make a call to some guys I know and you can at least get a ship on a loan. I see that you don't have a huge posse to help you so I can at least get a commercial, unless you want a fighter then the loan will be larger and you will have to buy a permit. Do you want commercial or fighter? And since i'm on the subject, are you going to be a registered hunter or is it completely independant? If you do get registered I can sponsor you- it looks like I have to...

[Regina]Yeah... so... "Quint"- talking to my friend right now, he has three ships on hand. He can deliver any one of them by tomorrow afternoon, he just needs to know which one. He has the Hyperion J sr7, which is just a fancy sleek and speedy ship; he has the Gugnir Commercial ccv, basically a small storage locker with a cockpit and lots of space; and he has a Space Jaxypinto, it is a pile of flying space trash- though it has working shields. Which ship do you want in particular?

You can fill out the serial number when you get the ship, also one of the perks of having a sponsor is that you go onto a credit system that gets charged to me. All you have to do is find a Port Hotel and show them the paperwork.

[Quint]>Your three sizes aren't here.

[Quint] But we haven't even hold hands... You're quite forward, Boss...

[Regina]Just pick a car before I slap you.

[Quint]I want the Jaxypinto, cus shields would be necessary for space fights.

[Regina] Alright, it'll be here in the afternoon tomorrow then. The loan is about 290,000 credits. It's cheap for a ship with shields, and you still haven't specified what weapon you want. Long ranged, that's all you said- you gotta come up with what you want on your own and i'll see if i have it in stock. So, what weapon do you want?
>>
No. 437600 ID: c1a7db

We want some kind of long range weapon. If energy weapons are practical and affordable, one of those. Especially if they come with stun settings, or variable power. Failing that, we'll settle for a projectile weapon. Something with multiple modes- that could be used in a firefight, or at range with a scope.

Melee weapon- some kind of blade, small enough to be concealed under clothes (long dagger to shortswordish length). Be nice if the material worked against at least light armor, and the hides of local species.

Is that specific enough?

[Quint] Do you have any gravity based weapons or something like graviton?

[Regina] Yes I do, no you're not getting any.

[Quint] Alright, do you have flechette PDW with underslung single-shot blaster for long-range fighting?

[Regina]... okay, no I don't have too many messy weapons like that- but I do have one that does flechette. I have a TFR KK7, plus there can be any tactical universal attachments you can put on. I'll put a Triple C on it... it takes three different kinds of ammo, it's piercing, gore rounds, or wall buster rounds.
This will be way too expensive for you to afford now, but I can also put that under contract.

[Quint] Alright, i'll take it. A contract is what again?

[Regina] If you get things under contract it's the similar to the loan on the ship, only that I take a decent portion of your reward after they deposit it into your CELE account. Another thing about the TFR, it's called an arena weapon- which means that it's legal to carry it on certain arena worlds but not on all planets. Mostly just the planets that have blood sports arenas. You're not getting wall buster rounds, cus I don't trust you, but you can get the other two types.

For numbers, it looks like this.

TFR KK7 180,000 credits
Piercing Cartridge Case 1000 credits (each)
Gore Cartridge Case 1000 credits (each)
W.B. Cartridge Case 2500 credits (each)
120 ft Rope 20 credits
Magno Hooks 100 credits
20 month provisions 500 credits
Vibranium Bonds/cuffs 200 credits (each)
1 Jar of Honey 200 credits

And then the loan on the ship is 290,000 credits. This is the list of only the things you are asking for- if you want to see my prices of the full stock it will take a little longer to explain. I'm only going to let you contract 3 items, I'm not sure if you will be worth the beans to keep you. Alright, so now lets get this all wrapped up- what are you buying? What are you contracting? Is there anything else you need on this list?

>____________________

No. 437765 ID: 9f34b8

Lets contact the TFR gun and two piercing cartidge cases since flechette have been shown to work against soft targets as well as regular bullets.
And with our money lest buy the rope, magno hooks, provisions for 20 months and 5 jars of honey.
That will cost us 1720 credits so we will still have over 2000 left for random expenses.

[Regina] Pfft, wierdo- so what do you want?

[Quint] quiet weapon capable of disabling targets or outright killing them

[Regina] You said you wanted to be a bounty hunter, not an assassin. Yes, I have knives, silencers and garrottes. The knives come in all sorts, and most of them cost between the 50-500 credit range. Garrottes run about 100 credits and the new top of the line cyber wire ones are more like 300 credits. If you want a silenced weapon it will be based on what you want silenced.

[Quint] Huh, i'm still thinking on if I want any of that though...

>GENDER NEUTRAL MAGIC BUG
With an absurd developmental process, going through a full 5 metamorphoses before reaching adulthood where each step has a radically different physiology. We start out as blind larva, and in each successive pupation, gain a new eye.

We're a one gender species, but reproduction is not asexual. In fact, the reproductive process is so complex even the most devoted xenobiologists grow bored and frustrated when you try to give them the summary. I mean, really, they never even let you explain the importance of the olives. Or why the banjo has to resonate at just the right frequency.

Fortunately for dealings with more conventionally sexually dimorphic species, you're comfortable identifying as male, and are capable of playing along with what for them passes for sex. It's not the same, but it's fun, and has a certain simple charm, you guess. It's kind of cute they get so worked up about it, really.

I'm thinking the absurd life cycle goes:

(0 eyes) larval worm
(1 eye) lantern bug-fish
(2 eyes) spider-beetle
(3 eyes) bug-cat, multiple tails
(4 eyes) wall climbing gecko-esk teenager
(5 eyes) humanoid adult.

All forms include the martian antenna, the same mouth, and eyes (although the number varies).

---

Uh, I think you should take the honey 'milker' or whatever that is off of her. It seems uncomfortable (and rape-y?). Then we can take her off the wall and see about getting her calmed down.

[Quint]I'll do all the favors!

[Regina]Okay, but keep in mind that since you are my "friend" you have to be "friends" to these guys that I want you to meet.

[Quint]mmmkay, what do you need me to do?

[Regina] Well first i need you to go by the talk master stand. It's that stand that has all the puzzles and maps in the B6 entrance. The guy there is a front for David Rondell, Dave is a person who i hold really close in my heart and would set him on fire if i could get close to him. You need to talk to dave and retrieve some paper work on a target. Before you see Dave, the doorman (who is the guy manning the register at the stand) will ask you a question then drag you through a series of riddles. Whatever the question is, the answer is "Snake eyes." The riddles i can't really help you with because... well i'm not that smart. As soon as you get those papers, guard them with your life. Don't bring them here right away.

[Quint]...

[Regina] The other thing i need you to do is meet a "friend" of mine named Bern. He's a dogman and he stopped by today to tell me something. I want you to meet him at the bar, he's probably there right now but is fairly patient. You talk to him and then come back to me, but make sure to come in through the back door when getting back. Do you remember what door it is? It'll be the F2 hall emergency door, it will take some finesse to open it from the walkway but you can get it open.

[Quint]Which one do you want me to do first?

[Regina] It's up to you, just make sure to come back.

Agree to go with the frog to pick up this bounty. Immediately disparage his observation skills again upon seeing Bern, who clearly looks nothing like the dog man in the wanted poster. Suggest frog man might want to spend his next bounty on some spectacles.

This is not to protect Bern. It's just that 60 million credits is worth nothing compared to the reaction that frog guy's going to give us when he finds out he saw the wrong bounty again. Turning him down now and not later would be a waste of that once in a lifetime opportunity!

Worst comes to worse we can point out that it can't be Bern or every bounty hunter in the station would be attacking right now. Top criminals who go out on the town to have a drink in public don't last long.

Worst comes to worse we can run away from the ensuing catastrophe with the excuse that we would have taken him in, but our gun wasn't ready yet.
>>
No. 440957 ID: d6c330

If we're picking factions, I don't think we should betray even Regina's "friends" yet. I mean, if he's a jerk she doesn't quite like on the same side as her, he's still on the same side as her. And if he is taken in, it might expose her. You never know what info he'll give up.

Besides, going after the universe's most wanted unarmed still seems suicidally silly.

Explain, Quint. I'm fairly sure I got the gist of the rest.

If anyone else didn't, or doesn't feel like reading all that:
That IS the high-bounty guy, and Quint is a pretty big deal, known only to people who speak the "traders' tongue", which Regina doesn't. Regina has no idea who Quint really is. Quint is... asking for protection money or extorting dog-guy, as far as I can tell.

[Quint] You said you wanted me to tell Regi something, but first I have to ask why she is so... Energetic. I mean she definitelly has an explosive personality sometimes and is full of energy.

[Bern] Well she's been like that ever since Regi lost her grandfather.

[Quint] She lost her grandfather?

[Bern] Yes, this was a long time ago. Back then I used to be a GPD officer.

[Quint] You used to be police?

[Bern] Yes, but things happened involving a big corporation and I got fired... and then some.

[Quint] Okay, but tell me more about regina's grandfather.

[Bern] Well it started a while back when he was working at Grey Mage. The old man took some time off to explore the building for infrastrature damage and to check the layout of the grounds. One day, he fell in deep into a hole and just vanished for a while. Me and my men went looking for him and found the hole. We found his body, along with alot of skeletons that were buried in there. It turns out that before that Grey Mage contracted there to be renovations to the buildings setup and they dug that deep pit, but people kept falling into it and were unnable to get back out. We went over and talked to one of the heads and they did eventually cover it up. But you see, Regi did not have any direct parentage so she only had her grandfather.

[Rerk] Wow... that's really sad. Is she angry at Grey Mage? I'd be angry at them for losing someone important...

[Bern] Oh yes, she's angry. She also has a hard time hiding it. But lets get down to what i want you to tell her 5 eyes. If Regina doesn't take control of her temper she will not only hurt herself but the people around her. She needs to stop picking on mister big because he's got what he needs to start picking back.

[Quint] ... Alright, i'll tell her. Happen to know any current events?

[Bern] Well Grey Mage has just recently finished building that asteroid rail. It's right outside the asteroid belt but still within spitting distance of this space station.

[Quint] Well that's nice, at least we have a mode of defense in case we get attacked by an invastion or something.

[Bern] Sadly it's controlled by Grey Mage so we'd have to make an appeal.

[Rerk] What? that's not fair... what if they decide to use it on the station?

[Bern] ...

[Quint] Of course they would use it against the station. It's probably gonna be when the station is no longer useful to the aspirations of the megacorporation.

[Shark Girl] Here you boys go, enjoy. I'll be back with the reciept.

[Rerk] Well I guess it wouldn't be a problem if they shot us now then... well I wouldn't have a problem.

[Bern] ... is he stupid or something?

[Rerk] No no, I mean... well... I was a garbage man before I became a bounty hunter. It was just me and my little brother that lived in our sewage dump back on the home planet. We both have brain tumors but mine is sort of not as dangerous as my little brothers. I had to give up my garbage job when he started getting seizures so I could take care of him, and the cost to fix a brain tumor is too much to dream of paying with a garbage mans wage.

[Quint] So you decided to be a bounty hunter because you thought you'd make easy money? That is not the smartest choice.

[Rerk] I didn't know it'd be so hard to do this... I even spent all my money to get the stuff i needed to start and to get a medical ship so's i could bring my bro along.

[Bern] Listen frogman, there are lots of other things you could do to make a big chunk of change in as little time as possible. Have you thought of pirating? Or maybe smuggling? Sure they are dangerous, but they are easier then trying to risk your neck trying to take horribly dangerous people in. And hell, half of the line up is innocent anyway.

[Rerk] Huh, what do you mean?

[Bern] Listen, a bounty isn't what you probably think it is. Dreamers tend to believe that if they become a bounty hunter that they'll take in horrible criminals that are terrorizing the civilized areas of space.

[Rerk] ...it's not?

[Bern] No, it's not. The police are a bunch of dirty crooks, I know this first hand. A bounty is just a person who rubbed a rich person the wrong way and now the rich person wants them dead or captured. It's really another way for rich people to get their way. Sure there are some criminals on the list of most wanted, but the reason there are is not because they are a public terror. It's because they are a threat to some politician or a big companies CEO. The money that is offered for a bounty is the money that was paid to the GPD by the rich people to get that person caught or killed... It's just a bunch of baloney.

[Rerk] I never thought of it that way... than what should I do?

Well, you really don't have the eyesight for bounty hunting though. Smuggling could work, especially if you already have a medical ship to hide cargo in. What kind of a jerk stops and searches a medical ship with sirens blaring and a sick patient inside? Especially if you turn on the waterworks. [Quint] I don't like four... make it three.

[Gameowner]...if you're here to see david it's going to be four.

[Quint] And if you don't want everyone to know that you're Snivel Winselblout, who is suspected of being a child molester you will drop the riddles altogether.

[Gameown]How do you know that! Actually nevermind, but i cannot drop the riddles... it's procedure... Would the kind sir be willing to parley two riddles?

[Quint] Well since there has to be "procedure" then yes, riddle away or great riddler.

[Gameowner] Alright, the first is this: This creature lives in the water, has the father of a cat and the mother of a spider. What am I?

And the second is this: Right at birth you run from me, when you get older i become closer. When you are an old man, i walk beside you. In the end I will catch you. What am i?

[David] ... Well, if it is not one of god's henchemen. I has been a very long time, I do hope you're not here for me.

[Quint] No, this is a personal matter. If it isn't the rogue oracle, If i recall you were much smaller last we met. And still in Delphai.

[David] Ah yes, metatron. And if I remember correctly you were in a body that resembled death... plus you were black. It seems you are on the hunt again, or maybe it is the same hunt?

[Quint] I've been tasked with the same hunt but multiple targets.

[David] Oh, do tell. I would love to hear what has happened to an old friend all these millenia. If i'm remembering correctly you are an inevitable...

[Quint] Yes, a construct tasked with correcting the fabric of reality. Last we met I was just born in a body resembling my target. It was the inevitable known as death and it had failed it's task.

[David] And you were supposed to kill him and complete his task, that was the first one. You were charged with collecting four, how many have you ... expunged?

[Quint] Only the one... as it turns out these four are more difficult then I would have thought. It has been... 6 life cycles that I have gone through, and not a one I have enjoyed.

[David] But you are immortal, in a sense. Almost anyone besides us would dream to have what we have, what is there not to enjoy?

[Quint] I do not like having these... memories. Each time I die, I remember the agony. Each time i'm born i remember. It's a pain worse than death. But what truly hurts is the memories of those who won't be there when i'm born again.

[David] I'm happy that you are being open with me. Sadly the people that attend to me like this are... they do not see what you see. This to the mortals looks like a room full of computers. A desk sits in the middle where a man with ginger hair is smoking a cigar. He sits comfortably in a chair that has the back that almost reaches the cieling of this imaginary room. This is what others see, but you, what do you see? You see me for what the truth tells you. But I will say that you are lucky that you cannot see yourself.

[Quint] What... what do I look like?

[David] Do you wish to know? I do not believe that is what you are here for.

[Quint] Can i have both?

[David] It is either I tell you what you are and you figure out how to take hold of your own existence, or I give you what the human woman wants. You cannot have both. What do you want from an old friend?

[Rerk] Yeah, I don't usually let people on.

[Abel] Oh... what's this thing?

[Rerk] Don't poke at the glass, that's my little brother.

[Abel] Really? Hi there little fella!

[Rerk] He can't hear you.

[Abel] oh...

[Abel] What's his name?

[Rerk] His name's plipper. Can you pull the emergency handle there? thanks.

[Rerk]...

[Rerk]... hey

[Plipper] hi...

[Rerk] It's time for a shot.

[Plipper] okay... who's that?

[Rerk] New friend, don't worry this won't hurt.

[Plipper] can i come out after the shot?

[Rerk] No you can't, you gotta stay in here. I don't want you wandering off and then your brain goes crazy again.

[Plipper] Can I come out tomorrow?

[Rerk] No, you have to stay in here.

[Plipper] Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssee?

Aw, he's cute. Let 'im out, you got an extra set of eyes to watch him for the moment. And chicks love kids.

You should really get speakers for that tube, so he can talk to people while he's in there. Maybe something for him to do, too. Looks boring in there.

[Regina] Alright, froghead is here. You sure he's supposed to know?

[Quint] What I was told.

[Rerk] hmm?

[Regina] Spokeswoman Serena, I want to know everything about her. She's my mortal enemy and i gotta know my enemies.

[Rerk] Oh, you mean the person that runs Grey Mage.

[Regina] Yes, tell me everything.

[Rerk] She's an ancient gypsy from the dark ages on earth. She has super witch powers and favors energy spheres that emenates from her body.

[Regina] wel... uh... that's total shit.

[Rerk] No, it's true.

[Regina] Then... how do i stop her...

[Rerk] Don't worry, whatever your reasons for hating her she isn't real.

[Regina]what do you mean.

[Rerk] The current person isn't a person. It's a hard light hologram. It's based off a once living person but it can't interract with objects. She doesn't even eat or drink.

[Regina] how do you even know this.

[Rerk] She's currently my sponsor, or she was. Plus she visited my family a few times.

[Regina] Dammit, then i'll have to stick to my original plans... but i don't want to travel that far. Alright, quint your ship is in and i stocked it up. You'll find your stealth weapon in the cab.

[Quint] Okay, now i can do some decent work for a change.

[Rerk] 5eyes, i'm gonna need to chat with you. I'm also tagging along.

[Abel] Oh, me too. I wanna come along!

[Rerk]... No, no, that'd be a terrible idea.

[Abel] But I want to, anyway if you're following him then that means it's his choice. Well 5eyes, can i come along?

[Quint] Hold on, I haven't agreed to letting frogman come with me yet. Lemme think for a second.

[Quint] Alright, well do you want to find a doctor or what? I mean right now your splitting my choices frogman. We can go to yokoko to get a lead on the good doctor, we can go to some medical space station, or we can head out and take down the bounty i wanna take down at dirger. It's up to you.
>>

We might as well bag this Doctor Whimsical either to cover the cost of the operation or let him go if he agrees to operate on Rerks bro.

Well... seems like this was the getting to know characters thread. I'll wrap it up and we can do the serious bounty hunting stuff in the next thread. Also special thanks to the Urts space station design goes to Wertz

[Rerk] Anyway, back to the undesirables. It's not that they'd butt heads, it would be if they got along. Think about it, they follow some sort of twisted ethics that stops them from becoming terrorists or spree killers. I'm afraid if they met and mixed up their terrible ideals they'd cross that line and it would turn out bad for everyone... Especially us.

[Quint] Huh, well it just means that we have to keep a close eye on both of them then, doesn't it? Alright, lets go to work.

[Rerk] Come on abel, we're going to the hangar.
