The term 'standard job' is such an ironically useless phrase in a profession where literally anything can- and often will- go wrong. But perhaps I'm not looking at it from the right angle. Maybe the job isn't standard until something goes wrong.

If so, I guess I can rest assured knowing this is, indeed, just another standard job.

Unidentified signal: *kzrt* -lo? Is any- *kzrt* -this frequency?

Communication signal detected, beginning traceroute...

Unidentified signal: Damn thing, work! Hol- *kzrt* -okay... there we go.

Signal location determined, establishing video connection... [Animated]

Unidentified signal: I... -ugh- I need some help. Look, I know this isn't standard protocol, and I'm probably not even cleared to use this line... but if you can hear this please respond. My ship has crash landed, and- and the rest of the crew is dead. I don't even know how I survived. I need tactical assistance, if anyone is available.

Identify yourself, I repeat Identify yourself. This is a secure channel, and you are unauthorized user. We have you on view screen and we will authorize killsat weapons if you do not supply proper identification codes. This is a priority one order. You have thirty seconds to comply. One. Two. Three...

Unidentified signal: What? N-no... Okay, forget that I said 'tactical assistance.' I've never used one of these emergency frequencies before, but I think this qualifies.

>>114708
Unidentified signal: This isn't the- ...Alright, I'll take whatever help I can get.

>>114724
Unidentified signal: Aw shit, that's what I was afraid of. Independent Operative Trevor Kandeel here. My team has been given authorization by the Terran Confederacy to visit the Tyrador system, I'm sure you have it on file. We are currently off course on account of experiencing severe technical difficulties. I can't give you the code because it's on the computer... of my ship.

>>114711
Trevor Kandeel: Right, right, the basics. Like I said, I am Trevor Kandeel, independent operative. My team and I came to Tyrador VIII on a job for a client, and... things went to hell. Damn co-orbit, threw off our approach. This region was supposed to be empty, sensors showed all clear!

Trevor Kandeel: But of course it wasn't. We found some sort of installation to the south, and a small town, it looked like. I don't know what hit us or where it came from, but it was fast, probably a missile, military-grade. Took out the stabilizer fins and unseated the engine. Warveld did the best he could, he aimed for this patch of solid ground but... the ship just fell apart. I'm not really sure what happened, I think I blacked out. And now our ship is in chunks spread out across this desert, my team is dead, and all some hick decided to play tag with a rocket launcher!

Trevor Kandeel: Ugh, I'm sorry... I don't know what got us, but it was completely unwarranted. And now they're dead, Warveld, Stenzen, Kozlosky... And there's no way I'll be able to complete the mission now; even if I thought I could handle it by myself, the optics on my rifle shattered. It might as well be a fancy shotgun.

What was your mission anyway?

Are there any working weapons in what's left of your ship?

Yeah scavenge your parts and give us a list. See if you have enough knowledge on how to use your parts to do anything with them.

Trevor Kandeel: That makes a better platitude than serious advice. Our mission was... is top secret. If I told you, the Confederates would have my hide. Then again... I probably won't be making it out anyway, and it's their fault everyone's dead, so what the hell. We're here to find and remove a certain problematic local official, Randyll Avelton. Supposedly funneling money to some rather unscrupulous organizations, but that's none of my business. Bringing his head back to my employer is. Or was...

>>114750
Trevor Kandeel: The only weapon system on the ship was an air-to-air missile defense system. And I'm pretty sure the missiles detonated when the rest of the ship, you know, turned into a fireball. As for the rest of it, it's horribly burnt and badly mangled... I think this is one of the engine pods, torn in half. There might be some fuel to extract, but I don't have a way to do that. The other chunk over there is the flight controls. I recognize Warveld's seat. There's no sign of him- of his body.

>>114753
Trevor Kandeel: Look, I'm not the mechanic of the group. That was Warveld's strength. I could build some sort of solar oven, but anything more high tech will require fixing burned electronics and I don't have any tools for that. Sorry.

>>114828
Trevor Kandeel: It's 2498, right? Two years before the new century? Don't tell me my suit's time function isn't working...

>>114859
Trevor Kandeel: I have- had... the easiest job of the group: I got to pull the trigger. I'm a marksman, although I do also handle explosives. I've got an FN92 sniper rifle, an E-11 Lockdown Device, and my demolition kit, with several satchel charges. They're ideal for making a door where an architect forgot to put one. But the FN92 got banged up in the fall, and the scope is totally busted. An eighteen hundred meter range is useless if you have to eyeball it. I also have my hostile environment suit, which can protect me from small arms fire, and has built in artificial muscle fibers linked to my neural interface to augment my physical strength. It also has an active camouflage system, which helps me fade into the background and cloaks my heat signature. Useful for tight situations, but it drains a lot of power and can't stay on forever.

Trevor Kandeel: It's a good thing my suit regulates my temperature, or I'd probably be burning up out here. Still, I need a way off this planet, plus water and some sort of shelter in case of a sand storm. I- I don't want to stay here, but I'm not sure where to head. There's the village we flew over to the south of here, but I think they've demonstrated their hostility... unless it was just an isolated event. But there's also supposed to be an abandoned Confederate military outpost somewhere in this desert, to the west, I think. Of course, if it did exist, it's got to be an eroded mess by now...

Trevor Kandeel: Hmm, I don't know. Do you have any info on either of them, and what would you suggest? I'm open to try just about anything at this point.

first, you reached a most unusual pandimentional entity.

the god of dickery and, uh, mutations made a orb called Orb of Infinite Psyche. it literally gives good advice, bad advice and dating advice all in one. by the way, your radio must be broke.

the good news is we can help you. the bad news is, we CAN help you.

there must be scout units coming to see the crash, maybe even loot the wreck, move somewhere safe and keep a eye for a hour or so.

also, i saw somethign green on your east, was it a dead body?
