I usually believe that no one is born evil nor pure-that the enviroment and people you grew up with are who help you become what you are.

Now I'm having some doubts.

And so I sit here, a tiny kobold nestled in my arms, scared.

Bubby is on the phone, argueing with the Mcdonalds manager. I know she didn't try to hurt the kobold, it just kind of happened, but...Part of me knows she'd do it on purpose in any case. She decided to get an order for the kid as well.

She tried to put her outside with rolls of cash stashed on her, but I wouldn't let her; there are shady folks around here, and a young helpless girl with a shit ton of cash...Yeah.

I am angry and scared. Helpless. I don't have any magical abilities, and I left my cell phone under my pillow.

No one knows I'm in this position-the monthly check up won't be for another week.

I don't know what to do.

So, gods, I pray unto thee...For guidance? Help? Anything...I know I have never prayed before, and even rejected the idea of gods, but I am desperate! I will do your biddings for my entire eternity if you save me and help me save Color...Save this innocent child.

Please!

Sure. Why should we save Color, though? Bubby seemed pretty convinced it was evil incarnate.

Ha. I knew the second chapter we'd be Ella!

>doubts about good and evil
Don't give into those yet. The same environment won't produce the same response in everyone. Even if color is the best thing in the world for a lot of people, it might have been the exact wrong thing for Bubbles. She appears to have control and anger issues- something that a hippy idealistic culture might be uniquely unprepared to help someone with.

Your only real move is diplomacy. You have to work with Bubbles, and well, manipulate her. She's somewhat unstable, but she's not a sociopath (she immediately regretted what she did to the child, and despite her bluster, grumpiness, and possible ignorant racism, to you). There are levers there to be moved, if you're clever. You can try to control her, rein her in.

Of course, controlling the situation as the prisoner is harder than the reverse, but it can be done.

Evil?! Color was anything but!

The magic flowed so strong in every possible fiber of the place, you could feel the love and well being pouring into your own heart...Everyone was always so kind. People who had nothing were brought in and given an eternal, perfect life that helped them start over.

...People who thought nothing were left in the world for them were given a life that they were told they wouldn't ever have.

People were saved from illnesses, and taught to forgive life for being so cruel in the start.

Color taught you to smile, and love. Parts may have dwelled too much in the whole brightness thing, but in any case...All the leaders ever wanted was for people to have a chance to be happy.

ah, but what about the people that DID have something? people that have lost important things because of the color. bubby is a dragon, her kind doesn't stop growing until several hundred years old. she is stuck the size of a baby for her kind because she was taken there. and when she turned 15, and then they didn't let her leave, despite her constant demands to do so. even if all the other places are better the one she came from was doing something wrong, and that has soured her relationship with it.

>>485532
Where Bubby came from, almost everyone was FORCED to be happy by the magic involved, and nobody was allowed to leave. She's also prevented from ever growing up, and to a dragon that's fucking important! Look at her, she's never going to be able to fly!

That's not good. Also, did you look at the door? It was taped up!
>>

Why then, was it you chose to leave color?

>>485529
I'll reiterate my advice for the situation at hand, as you chose to focus on color instead.
>>

To think people ought to be happy for its own sake, is like saying "People ought to smile more", then making it impossible to frown.

Happiness isn't as important as the things that you're happy about. If you're just happy all the time, that's meaningless.

Being happy about abduction and imprisonment doesn't actually make them okay.

Manipulation...Not a bad idea at all. I suppose I could knock my pride down a bit and treat her how she think she deserves to be treated-or like I'm too scared to retaliate at all.

And as for them not letting Bubby out...I don't know the deal about that. It's regulation to tell people they have that choice. I only ever see people going in, but never out from that door.

And, yeah...Dragons tended not to go into Color. I know it's rare for them, and Bubby is amoung the few I have ever seen that resided in their.

About a hundred years ago, dragons relocated to an island that was deserted to grow in peace. People grew to be angry at scared at how they grew...And dragons are known to have a temper.

I admit there are shrouded aspects of good and bad, but Color was honestly created for the wellbeing of life.

I owe Color my happiness; nothing could convince me I shouldn't be!
>>
No. 485550 ID: bf54a8

for the most part i can believe you, but something else is going on here. we looked at the pamphlet and it said color needs magic inputted to be repaired. nothing has more magic then a dragon, they must of wanted her to join officially so she would pour all her magic in. this is why they couldn't let her leave, they needed her power so much they ignored the rules.

when she comes back in try explaining about the dragon island, don't say anything bad about dragons just talk about how they all went their of their own accord.

I left Color because there are others out there who deserve the life it gives! Families with no money, young girls who think they have to sell their body to get anywhere, people who are fucking dying and have something worth living for!

I don't know why they forced Bubby to stay! I don't! That wasn't like my place, it was always an option and no one judged you for leaving!

The door is taped up so nor'dowells don't try and sneak in-everyone out here is pretty unconvinced of magic, and the exposure of Color to everyone would be...corrupting.

Please trust me though! The fabrications of Color...is n-not bad at all!

I don't know what the fuck is with Bubby, but I do know she's evil and mean!

Well, then you can do your best to keep her from harming color. Perhaps in time you can change her mind. Or at least stall things out until someone else stops her.
>>
No. 485553 ID: 518408

Not saying Color is bad, but ..

If you say "nothing could convince me Color was bad", then that means that even if you found undeniable evidence tomorrow that still wouldn't change your mind. Always be open to new knowledge.

>>485548
What if every single member of Color came and gang-raped you?

Ignore that, it was rhetorical. The point is that absolutes and extremes tend to be bad news. Bubby was at one extreme. You're at another. Look how she ended up.

Are you sure nothing would ever convince you otherwise?
>>
No. 485628 ID: 521153

I'm confused. Why didn't you get Bubby to heal the kobold and then bring the child to the mother who was heard calling for it? Claiming that the child collapsed would not likely have aroused suspicions too far, especially if accompanied by the purchase of a generous quantity of cookies. It is not as though Bubby has little money.

Ella, you should be quicker about these things. Look at the mess we are in now. Oh well, the cover will still work, so long as the child doesn't remember getting hit in the head. Or if it is coerced with money.

I get it, I get it! I'm just as bad as Bubby if I act like that...I guess it would be better worded if I said nothing could convince me that my time there was anything but good. I'd be long dead if it weren't for Color.

Bubby fist pumps, hanging up the wall phone crowing how she finally got a price for them to accept to deliver.

I guess...Now would be a good time to tell her of the dragons. It might distract her from this...mission of hers.

"B-Bubby! I wanna tell you something important. 'Bout the dragons."

She gives me an odd look, but takes the bait.

"What?"

"The dragons don't live among everyone anymore. They moved away to an island. You're probably the only dragon on the mainland."

"Dragons..Have proved to be immortal in any case. They..Actually moved away thousands of years ago. Did you know they are the birth creatures of magic? No one believes in magic anymore.

"They grew big and powerful...But the other, smaller creatures hated them for that. The revolted. The dragons were peaceful and did not wish for war. They decided to give everyone what they wanted, and peacefully moved away. Sometimes younger dragons like you visit the mainland before taking on their...true forms. Feral forms, I guess. They grew into it-I guess you know that, but...It won't ever happen to you."

She gets silent, a look of sadness crossing her expression.

>"...Why are you telling me this, Ella?"

"Because you are proud of your race. I just...It crossed my mind that the dragons might be able to fix you. I mean, your lack of aging. I don't hate you, you know. No matter what you've done and want to do. I don't think it's power and control you want.

"You want your heritage, and you're angry that Color took it away from you. Maybe the dragons can help you learn about why you got the fate you have."

As I speak, I realize I'm being mostly sincere. I pity Bubby.

She looks very sad now.

>"And...it's possible to visit them?"

I didn't think about that.

"Probably. I mean, you'd have to find a private flight and it'll be pricey. Money's not a problem though."

Um. Well, on the downside, you might get killed by dragons. But on the upside, that was already a risk anyways, and this certainly distracts her from going after color. So this is sort of a net positive?

Be glad she's not just leaving you here.

What are you gonna do about the kobold though? Wait 'til she wakes up then ask where her mom is so we can return her? What?
>>
No. 485898 ID: 78c6ea

You told her about the island. You're sort of her lifeline at this point. She was ready to kill everyone and anyone who came at her coming out of there, so it's not likely she could have gotten help any other way. She at least subconsciously knows this, even if her pride won't let her admit it.

And about Color. It was obviously not evil, but those color combinations were unbearably garish! Cyan bread? Isn't that worthy of destruction, even if it isn't evil?

Oh.

I'll trust her on that, I guess. I get up and crack open a tiny closet it space that Bubby seemed to have missed during her look around.

Inside is a laptop, and a stack of suitcases.

Oh hey, that plan worked.

Also, wow. That was a much faster pack-up than I (for one) am used to.
Have you been planning a missionary journey to the land of the dragons?
