>You approach the welcome sign of a town where you were once called mayor.

>Candy Land, the sweetest town on earth, has now been reduced to the number one worst place to live.

>It's been 5 years since J.R. took over, and from the news it seems as if he isn't doing his job well at all. You shouldn't be concerned, but this place was your home for so long; It's only natural that you'd want to visit, and maybe see if you can correct the path J.R. seems to be taking.

>Unfortunately for you it's going to take much more than a bit of correcting to get this town back under control, but just how far are you willing to go?

The buildings tower over you, filling you with the feeling of unrelenting claustrophobia. The gumdrops had vanished, and in their stead concrete rectangles shot toward the sky neither sweet nor sour.

Captivated by these new structures, you run into a scantily clad young woman knocking her into the pavement.

>"oh my goodness, mam are you okay?"

"What the fuck does it look like?! You're lucky I ain't broke nothin' cause-- "

The woman stares at you, deep in thought.

"... Y-you're Mayor El-pop right?"

El-Pop, that's right, that's what the people used to call you. It's not your full name, but it was a nice little nickname that made the people really feel as if you were one of them.

"Fix it? You're better off just leaving, this place ain't for you anymore El-pop."

>"What happened?"

"Well..."

The woman slowly rises to her feet and collects herself.

"It's a mess, ain't no one really in charge. Just a bunch of Gangs waving their dicks around tryin' to run what's left of this place."

Last you knew J.R was in charge, and you'd thought he was the person most qualified to take your job; You're not so sure about that anymore.

>"Do you have any idea where J.R. is?"

The woman shakes her head.

"Last I heard he was being chased the fuck out of the capitol. I think he went into hiding or something."

You think that finding J.R. might be a good place to start. He'd probably know how all this happened, and might even have a few ideas as to how to --

You're stopped mid thought by a large gingerbread man.

"Hey! Asshole! You're either paying the fine woman, or you're moving along."

After ducking through some shady streets, and paying more attention to where you're walking you've finally reached...

The Capitol.

The last sugar coated structure in the city, now rotten to the core.

>see anyway in

There's the front gate.

You don't really know if now is the time for pragmatism though.

>Got any weapons in your bag?

The closest thing to a weapon is a rather large pair of scissors; A nice memento from your Mayoral run.

You cringe at the thought of violence, hopefully you'll be able to take a peaceful approach to fixing this place up.

You approach the front gate as the place appears to be abandoned.

As you get closer, the vagabond in front of the trash fire hails to you.

"Halt! who goes there?!"

You recognize this man, he was once in charge of the taffy knights.

What was his name again?

His name was Sir Laffy, a man well respected throughout all of Candy Land. Now he seems to have transformed into a dirt sprinkled, jittery, mess.

"Ah. So you remember my name Popington! That's just -- well -- that's just grand!"

Sir Laffy shifts uncomfortably as he gives the Capitol a sideways glance.

"Unfortunately, I-I cannot let you in sir. The capitol has been taken by a group of trouble makers called, well, the Trouble Makers; T-they're m-most unkind."

Now, is he saying this just out of concern for our person, or does he not want us entering for some reason? (Like he's employed by them).

What can he tell us about these Trouble Makers?

>Who are these Trouble Makers?

"They're o-one of the weaker groups of ruffians to stake their claims in this city. I-I don't think any of the larger groups want to touch the capitol... I don't rightly know why though."

>What happened to J.R.?

"He's, well, I-Inside the capitol still. He hasn't left since the Trouble Makers broke through and I believe they might be holding him as some sort of trophy. The Trouble Makers outnumbered me and just threw me out."

>"I'm going to try to help this place and you are my first recruit. Welcome aboard."

"I-I'm honored sir. I apologize for that embarrassing defeat. It would be nice to r-reclaim my honor."

Sir Laffy extends his hand and gives you a firm, but jittery handshake.

"What would be the plan Sir? I-I've scoped the place out and they seem to have three S-snipers in the windows switching p-positions every hour or so, they have tons of guards lying in wait to k-kill or capture anyone getting over the fence, and they all have some pretty nice weapons with great stopping power. I'm afraid i-it's not going to be as simple as ringing the bell and asking Mr. Jellie to be let in anymore."

Well why not? This is just like a political campaign, and this gang might well be the new party.
Small group, not affiliated with the larger one, they could be the independents who rally behind the old legit ruler and roll up the other small ones into its own large 'gang', and have a chance against the big parties. Er, gangs.

Recruit them!

You know what? You don't rate a snowball's chance in hell against the current occupants if they aren't a bunch of fuckwit-level incompetents. We need more intel on who they are and what they do because otherwise we might just join their display-case right next to this JR person.
