when she did, she didn't recognize

anything

nothing they made looked like their own anymore

everything was all dull and boring

and the air choked her

the air was all thick and dusty but it still smelled clean

too clean

too fake

and she only saw blackened badland forests for miles

around her

there was no sign of her friends

I would assume us. Hello, we're not dead.

So what's your situation? We saw the bit about losing your friend and being separated. But the bit at the end... your god / narrator is getting dragged off to a shrink who doesn't believe in you? That could be a problem.

I can't make anything. I can't FIX anything. I can't even fix MYSELF.

So the problem is external forces are affecting the mindset of your host, such that she can no longer sustain you.

Either you need to find some way to protect her from this influence (a way to pay convincing lip service the the therapy and/or her parents without believing it) or you need an alternate source of sustenance.

Honestly, not a good situation, with your survival being directly dependent on someone else's state of mind.

...I don't suppose you can draw on us the way you used to draw on her? I'm not sure if we count as an external factor or an internal construct, here.

|| >So the problem is external forces are affecting the mindset of your host, such that she can no longer sustain you. ||

I guess in fancy terms, yeah. We kind of usually come about on our own, but we're still significantly tied to our hosts. I mean, I might not FADE fade, y'know, like, DISAPPEAR fade, but I might get so deeply buried and corrupted as to never see the light of day again.

Not fun, no. Then again, we are significant parts that play in to our host's happiness, so... yeah.

|| >Either you need to find some way to protect her from this influence (a way to pay convincing lip service the the therapy and/or her parents without believing it) or you need an alternate source of sustenance.||

Tried and failed, my main man. Men. Home boys. Whatever, point is, it's our ONLY sustenance.

Besides, have you tried talking through a kid like a separate entity? You know how many folks get their hosts locked up for that? I'd make it worse.

|| >...I don't suppose you can draw on us the way you used to draw on her? ||

... Well, actually...

I kind of already am?

I mean, not in the sense that I'm directly linked to you, no. I'm kind of assuming at this point you're on a different plane of existence than her or us, so, you're not like either of our sorts. But I mean, when I picked up that tablet, I managed to open myself up to you, like, probably via some sort of inter-dimensional communications link? So I guess we're sort of already linked? I guess.

I mean, I haven't started feeding off of you yet, no! I can't, really. But I mean, I've only linked with someone really, truly, deeply - once.

And that was because I loved her. And now she's not here anymore.

So I mean, we might do shit later on, but right now, you're piggybacking. You're new, you're mysterious, you know shit. I'm lost, I'm old, I don't know shit.

So help me out here. Let's start things off good, a'ight? Gimme a little kick here, cause I've been wandering in circles ever since we got into that stark white shitpot.

Oh. Yeah, no, I didn't mean that.

You'd basically need to teach your kid anti-interrogation techniques. So she could fool the therapist or parents into being happy with her results, while resisting their attempts to change her worldview.

It would be difficult, and it's probably too late. The damage has been done.
