>Your perception begins to change as your form and body shift.

You are a Shadow in the midst of the second age, Twilight.

The world has gone dark since the first age, clouds overtaking the sky, making it impossible to grow any plants without assistance of some sort of light.

As a result, the Humans migrated underground and found your race. Through a series of events your race is reborn. Just as the Prophet has spoken.

Your job is to spy upon the populace remaining above ground after your race's takeover underneath.

Nobody is aware that you, or your race are no longer Humans. However you were considered part of the rich aristocrats who were rich enough to move their estates below. Tension runs high as always.

You have two options as it stands now. Either explore the surface further or retreat back into the darkness and to the Hive.

How far out are we? How long out have we been? Are we tired, or fresh? Have we seen anything worth reporting?

We need a sitrep before we can decide to advance or return.

[Author's Note: The art will change often depending on what I have]

>How far out are we? How long out have we been? Are we tired, or fresh? Have we seen anything worth reporting?

It appears we're a day's travel from the caves, and several more from the Hive. We have not encountered any specific dangers or sights that are worth note. We are Shadow, and feel no need for sleep or rest. Although in the presence of Humans, it would be a good idea to mimic behavior.

>How high are you in the aristocrat level.

As a knight, we are above the soldiers and peasants, but below commanders of note. We also cannot disregard royalty. However, we are able to travel freely as we desire without suspicion.

We can also call upon the grounds of 'investigation'. This is a power of the law, and should not be used too often.

Our options still remain: Return or advance.
>>
No. 650917 ID: 9297f4

Got nothing better, so advance.
>>
No. 650929 ID: ab7529

Traveling several days from the hive for only a single day's patrol is pretty inefficient. We should stay up here for a few days before heading back.

Advance.
>>
No. 650931 ID: 9ddf68

keep going, no real reason to head back yet.

>Advance Forwards

You do just that, your eye focused ahead. Little strikes you about the sickly landscape except a large smokey plume down the path.

Upon approaching, you come upon a camp tent set on fire. This sight does not surprise you.

Ever since Twilight had begun, the humans have resulted to much banditry of one another in effort to survive. The Grey's are of little concern in that matter.

There could be valuable supplies, possible allies, or even enemies in wait. We could also simply head forwards, there is a village not too far away, and offshoots to other towns.

If it's close to the hive, we may want to see what's up. The survivors may be hostile and attack. If not, we got someone to watch our back.

See if there's anything worth taking from a distance and if not, go on over to town.
>>
No. 650968 ID: a6561a

See if anyone needs help. Knowing who caused it would also be good, such as any bandits or other possible dangers to watch out for.
>>
No. 650969 ID: 9ddf68

scout the area a little, if we get nothing else from this trip we can at least return and let the hive know that bandits are close to our tunnels.

>Scout, Search, Loot

All good ideas.

A thatch tent. The kind you see for a low income kind of village. Twilight has hit over-ground economies hard. Food is much harder to grow and expensive now.

Inside of the tent there is a single body and plenty of fire engulfing it. Anything worth salvaging is gone.

There isn't anything else around, this might have been a post of some kind or a traveler.

"Meh? What t'hell is this?"

...oh.

Or it might have been the remaining village guard's makeshift barracks. They don't seem to be too happy about the implications of us being here.

"Explain yourself y'stupid sod or we'll run you through!"

They seem haphazardly equipped. One man wearing leather with steel weapons. The other wears chain-mail with an intimidating sword in hand.

...even odds.
>>
No. 651086 ID: 9ddf68

claim to be a traveler passing through, you saw smoke and hoped it meant a village or somewhere to rest from your travels for awhile. When you arrived this (point towards the burning tent) is all I found.
>>

>Explain yourself y'stupid sod or we'll run you through
Explain that the fire is visible from a distance and you were drawn to investigate it. This blaze was not set by your hand.

Wait to see if they believe you, or if you must defend yourself.

Just tell the truth, you were travelling and saw a fire so you checked it out.
