You don't know why you're here or pretty much anything else for that matter. The only certainty seems to be this ugly pain throbbing inside your body, aching constantly throughout combined with a draining fatigue. You can hear your joints scrape against each other as you move your bones. Strangely enough, it's next to impossible to look down at the rest of your body.
The door in front of you seems locked in place and an incessant alarm blasts its shrill call from somewhere behind.

You strain to bend down to read the sign. A warning flashes on all the panel screens and no controls are visible. So far it does not concern you you believe.

>Dislocate as many joints as is necessary to slip out of your restraints.

That would hurt. A lot more than what you feel right now. You're not exactly 'restrained' only confined inside something.

>Push on the doors to see if they are unlocked.

If you were the stongest man alive maybe there might be a chance you could open the large bay doors. That's likely not the case since you can barely manage to raise your arms not even considering each door looks to weigh nearly two tons as compromised as they are. Yet somehow when you push on it they give albeit a very, very slight amount.

>punch open door

Considering how heavy these doors might be you may end up breaking your arm along with the doors.

>Investigate your arms. What are you wearing?

These arms don't feel right; they're far too big to belong to ordinary human beings. You must be wearing an armored suit of some sort. The whirrs and hisses of your iron coffin offer a sense of separation of man and machine. It doesn't negate the intense pain burning you up like an inferno though.

>Really nice of those Federation bots to keep dragging your chrysalis out of the fire.

Federation? Federation uhh.....Ah yes, the United Federation. Were they enemies? There was an ongoing coup a few days ago. Cities came under siege and people were killed but ultimately failed. You can't recall exactly who was involved but you do know this: They will soon figure out who was plotting to overthrow the government and will drag out these rebels to execute them. Hopefully you're not one of them. But nothing about a chrysalis, at least that you can remember......Was there a plan.....?

Something is wrong with you, terribly wrong. A dark shadow in the back of your mind clouds your cognition and every motion, every action causes needles of fire to explode inside you. You can't even remember your own name. It's haunting.

Taking advantage of the available time, you observe your surroundings. Nothing worth noting really except for A number of steel crates and a crawling severed arm. Creepy but not much else considering how insignificant a threat it poses. Well, at least you know the fate of the crew of this ship.

You cease your activities when you start to hear tiny, nebulous voices inside your head. A clear, artificial voice breaks this sea of voices coming directly from within the suit.

A sea of snow and ice covers the land and swirl into the marine horizon while an ocean of stars speckle the night. Mountains rise high in a silent majesty crowned by ancient, mighty glaciers and lift their summits to the auroran heavens. All that aside, you do notice a huge wave of dark clouds far off to the east headed your way. A blizzard approaches.
The suit protects against absolutely monstrous freeze but a quick peek inside again can't hurt though your armor's fat hands are a little too big to pick up small objects. But a re-entry into the ship reveals a shocking sight: The corpse has risen from its finally resting spot, consumed by a fleshy organism flexing tentacles and making obscene gestures. It appears to be assimilating the dead tissue.
The infested cadaver spits out a storm of wet, sloppy sounds from its tiny mouth hole, "muhgoorfukgeer szhat wusgk mu fugihng oormpp!"

>Suffer not the xenos to live, brother.

The speakers come on and blare your message, "I could fry you right now alien. Before I do would you care to tell me your name so I can carve it on your tombstone?"

The tentacles contort and the mass of flesh grows leading to a clearer sound.

"Smart ass, I am no alien! Don't you watch the news? The real aliens are lying, cheating, greedy space mongers manipulating our media and killing our planet! They are workers of inquity while humanity places their trust in a weak Federation ." it (he?) speaks in seething hatred and continues to rant, "But we are chimera, the master race! We have been chosen by our King to bring forth the day of wrath and only then will there be deliverance."

Casually you say "Hmm, interesting but not reason enough for me not to burn you to a crisp."

>Demand their surrender, you have the advantage and could easily risk your life (you don't even need the self-destruct) to obliterate their entire existence down to the atomic level.

"So here's what I think," you flaunt your flamethrower around shoving it in the face of this creature "you're going to surrender or I'm going to burn you until you are vaporized into the atmosphere."

Target Is Host Member Only. Scanning For Central Hive Location.

"We will overwhelm you for we are many." it warns.

Bold and aggressive, you grab the creature by the head and squeeze, lifting it up face-to-face, ready to deliver your last ultimatum. It doesn't resist the tight grip imposed on its now forming skull and looks on in anticipation of what you are going to say next. Blue flames from the flamethrower's mouth singe the flesh of the creature but are unable to goad it to emit any audible sound besides those from the waving tentacles.

"I don't adhere to religious dogma especially not the over zealous one you're trying to sell me. Instead how about you take me to your superior before I lose my patience. I hope you understand for your own sake."

"Never, I would rather die than help federation lackies like you. There's no humanity left in any of you. Maybe you're really just an AI under all that armor programmed to kill indiscriminately." it answers in defiance to your displeasure.

The mass of tentacles wraps around the suits legs and lower torso in a tight, constricted grasp hindering its ability to move. Without a rotatable head or body you are forced to remain facing forward towards the orange horizon. Anger, red-hot, overcomes fear and struggles to set itself free inside. A distinctly feminine voice speaks from behind you and identifies herself as the conjurer of this illusion. In your boiling temper you listen but find every word insulting though it is not so.

"Now dear let's not struggle now," she affectionately coos, "you'll be too tired for the fun I have in mind. You're going to need to get out of that dreadful tin machine so we can begin, dearie."

Your anger boils over and screams out, "Shut up you worthless piece of calamari! Unhand me you filthy, uncouth cow before I eradicate you and your degenerate spawn from the earth! I want no part of you."

"Oh dearie, such language. I cannot have you killing off my precious progeny if you're not helping me by contributing your seed. A big, strong, potent specimen like yourself can't willingly resist the urge to take advantage of a poor, defenseless brood-mother." she whispers seductively to you.

You retaliate sharply, "Flatulent pig, am I so base that I would stoop so low to fornicate with such a monstrosity? I consider myself more than just a mere beast and never would I defile myself with an animal if only to save my own life that even now burns dim. Clearly you are a hideous abomination to the eye; no male of any species would offer you the pleasure of copulation and neither will I under any circumstances you crusty, shriveled up slut."

She makes another attempt to coax you, "Come on you know you wanna mate. Just one session. I'll even assimilate you into my brood in a new, special body as my personal breeding stud. Come on dear or I have no choice but to break your mind."

Reason and willpower wrestle for control with your fierce rage. Even her psionic powers are muted from your extreme anger and feeble mind. Her words were insulting to you and entice you to act rashly in this situation. The temptation within to activate the self-destruction sequence is almost palpable but you keep calm and think before you react.

"I've heard enough," you firmly shout at her with confidence, "I hold the trump card here."

"I doubt that dear..." she says certain of her own abilities.

In an instant a gap between the shoulder guards opens and widens several centimeters revealing heated rails and coils. A pull of the trigger launches two equally scalding disks of compressed plasma out straight into stray tentacles slicing through them easily. She becomes fully aware of what just happened and yelps in pain releasing her grip just enough for you to escape her grasp as you watch the illusion fade away.

Her entire demeanor has changed from lax to cautious almost instantaneously. "Ow!" she cries holding her severed tentacles, "ow,ow! That really hurt! I can't believe you did that...well I guess I'm just going to have to boil your brain then." Her gaze intensifies greatly and holds an almost physical quality.

"No, you're not. Argus, what is the maximum blast radius for the self-destruct sequence?" you say this aloud even though the AI is offline and the detonation is manual. She gives a suspicious look but tenses her body up and backs off once you brandish your flamethrower. "Only one kilometer? That's good enough, set the detonation timer for 30 seconds." Your suicidal bluff convinces the octo-woman to flee from you in haste though not before one last slanderous comment, "Too bad, you would've lived like a king with me but now you'll freeze for sure. You'd make a perfect friend for Markus as crazy as you are I'll give you that." She dives into the snow and glides through it like a snake on water, disappearing into the frozen hills.

You take a moment to catch a long overdue breather and mess with the on-board computer trying a reboot. All attempts to reactivate the system's AI result in predictable failure. Manual mode is still up and the suit's energy levels remain at a respectable three-quarters full.

Freeing your hands from the controls, you feel around your heavy coat searching for a cigarette or filled flask. You get lucky and find a stub of a used cigarette that you light with an old, rusty lighter. Each puff soothes those wracked nerves. Really takes away the edge. The miniature, spinning fans enclosed by your mechanical lungs activate and push the whitish smoke out as fast as you take it in creating an unpleasant, smoggy atmosphere.

More rummaging reveals a tiny pistol hardly fit for self-defense, located in your right coat sleeve. A mark of worried concern grows on your face when your fingers probe a cylindrical canister made up of a patch work of metal and vibrating machinery. A quick tap on the side of the container is followed by a violent rapping from whatever animal may lie in it.

Markus... Markus Octavius. There's something about that name, something familiar and covering history. A name you can get behind; one you can rely on. It must have been your name. "Markus..." you say quietly to yourself between puffs, "you sly dog. You had me thinking I would die here. What did you have planned after all?"

The bitter cold reaches its oppressive peak and gnaws your fingers and toes raw between gelid, frosty teeth slipping underneath the armored carapace of the suit. To make matters worse your motor control shows how far it has declined as you stumble helplessly through the snowy hills and crevices in the rocky, mountain terrain struggling to maintain balance in a trance-like state. Whether by fate or chance, signs of man-made construction begin appearing, first as a long, narrow, concrete strip crumbling from use and further within the mountainous range, a loading area. Three humanoid silhouettes stand at the base of the dock looking with indifference towards the exact direction of your approach. From behind the terrifying scream of the oncoming blizzard echoes throughout the walls of the mountains like a wild banshee.

It is possible that you were expected here judging by the gestures of the middle figure waving to you. Looks like a man somewhere in his mid-30's, unarmed, wearing a heavy overcoat still considerably impractical for the current weather conditions.

If they want you to talk, motion that you'll talk once you're inside and not in danger of freezing. Offer them a smoke, too.

cut them off if they try to talk to you and explain you want to get inside first.

He stops waving and waits patiently as you lumber towards the group. Two armed individuals stare at you intently but make no move to engage.

"Markus I presume? The date is exact." the man in the middle asks you, by no means intimidated by your imposing presence. "I'd offer you a smoke but...I'm out."

"Perhaps. Who is Markus to you?" you say with caution. His voice is vaguely familiar yet you have never seen this man's face a day in your life or so you think.

The man in the middle remains silent for a moment before speaking again. When he does he grins and speaks colliquially, "A friend and ally. The last time I saw him was in Beijing; right before it was wiped from the face of the earth. Markus, of course I know that's you even when you're wearing that over sized tin-can. You're a fighter, a survivalist, I'd expect nothing less." That's a lot of assumptions he's making about you. "So tell me how've you been these last three years. And how on earth did you manage to acquire that kind of federal hardware? I hope none of my own gave you any trouble on your way over here."

"I don't know, it eludes me. Besides I don't know you." the truth and nothing else. It is none of his business to begin with and you can't remember anyway.

His smile fades. His voice is just barely audible, "Your condition...I didn't think it would've advanced this far. I..." he breaks off abruptly. "Let me reintroduce myself then. I am Don Salvatore, leader of the Chimeric Kingdom and commandant of Theta. It is a pleasure to meet you again Markus. A bit breezy out here don't you think? It's much warmer inside I assure you. I'll tell you the latest news about current politics and the war. I have some whiskey as well if you're interested, sonny."

...Sal. Hmm.

Yeah go in and talk. Keep the suit on until you know it's safe.
