They've been trekking that desert for days, by now. No food, out of water, surely death will come to them soon. Why did they head into the desert, despite its reputation for travellers becoming lost?

Huh? Am I finally crazy enough to hear voices? Damn.
Well, guess there's no harm in talking to voices in my head.
I'm travelling in the Dril'ech Deserts. Back a couple years ago, there used to be hundreds of people travelling these treacherous dunes in search of ridiculous treasures.
Then people started disappearing, and things slowed to a crawling halt.
Now, the only thing here is sand.
Sand. And no water.

Why is it always the desert? Why not like a tropical paradise?

Throw the orb as far away as you can, I'm - I mean, it's a bomb!

So why DID you go to the desert? I would guess monster hunter, but those usually bring supplies.

There seems to be some sort of settlement a little ways in front of me. And there's even something that looks like a well.
God, I hope that's water.

Go on, then. Go see if there's anyone there, but get to the well as your first priority to get a drink.

I didn't see anyone around while walking up to the well, and there's a lot of water down there.
Should I just drink this though? I don't even know if this well belongs to anybody.
Then again, you'd have to be insane to live in this desert, there's probably no one in these houses...

You're gonna die if you don't drink it regardless, might as well chance it

You could call out to see if anyone's here.

Shout some formal greetings, a request for hospitality, and announce your intention to drink from the well. Wait a few minutes to give any locals a chance to respond.
