you have time to do only one thing before you need to gear up for your charlas-bound drop pod

>a. refresh your memory on drop pod procedure
>b. sudden vivid flashback to an earlier adventure
>c. do something about the shakes you always get
>d. say goodbye to oliver
>>

A. Gotta be safe and make sure we know what we're doing so our adventure doesn't come to an early end.

Also, Oliver isn't coming with us? How come?

it's been a while since youve been down to the podbay. you generally land with the entire ship.

your drop pods are as varied in purpose as they are in appearance. big church organ pod, for areas with high atmospheric pressure. horse pod, for riding like a bucking bronco. two-prong nuclear engine pod, for going extra fast. tube prod, for earth-like planets. walnut pod for... you're not sure about walnut pod, actually.

after about five minutes of reuniting and soothing each others shattered nerves, you get down to brass tacks.

oliver opts to stay back and set up base camp while you explore. he's got a chili recipe that real cowboys used to eat on the trail he's gonna make. he'll stay in radio contact with you the whole time.

this looks like a primo adventuring planet. where do you wanna start?

>a. mushroom-looking forest that looks like its growing outta a swamp
>b. giant rocky formation that is so very tall
>>

That was anticlimactic, but adorable. :3

If you have climbing gear, go up the rock, see if you can get the lay of the land.

If not, do the forest first and scavenge some vines.

you see a massive rushing waterfall, and two places to rest and try to beat the heat.

at the top is a little cluster of mushroom-trees on soft grass and plenty of shade. the water rushing by is too fast to try to swim in, or even stick your feet in.

at the bottom the waterfall spills into a large pool. there's whitewater where it crashes, but the rest of it looks peaceful enough. there's more soft grass, but no shade.

Make out with this attractive stranger who isn't your best friend obscured by a hallucination brought on by goo exposure and oxygen deprivation.

the goop is, well, she says, the goop's always been here. it eats things like bugs or leaves that land on the water. but it's been acting funny lately. it gets more and more daring and hungry over time, moving on to fish, until it stops and waits for its weird cycle to start again, but it hasnt stopped. its just gotten hungrier. a while longer and it might be able to consume her, despite her size.

how long has it been going on? you ask

it should've gone back to dormancy last season, she says

what's making it so hungry? oliver asks

So the 'temple is a part of a scientific research station that probably created, studied and controlled the 'goop', but now what ever people/systems they had in place are gone/broken.
We need to get to that tower.
