I see. My name is D-322. I am a Robotic Mobile Assistant (RMA) of the Botany Department.

Running first start-up diagnostics...

96% charged. All mechanisms functional.

--CAPABILITIES CHECK--

As an RMA specialized in Botany, I come equipped with several essential mechanisms to fulfill my role on the spaceship.

I have five tanks for containing liquids. The first tank can hold up to 1200 mL. The secondary tanks can hold up to 200 mL of liquid each.

A meter long hose can be extended from my chassis, and can expel liquid from any of my tanks. Liquids expelled can be dispersed in several ways, such as a single solid stream or a fine mist spray.

On the back of my chassis is a port that allows me to connect to other specially made portable machinery, such as a storage tank.

I also have a Universal Control Adapter (UCA). This short cord can connect to many of the machinery consoles on this ship, giving me direct control over them.

A lid on the top of my chassis may be opened to expose 20x20x10 centimeters of storage space.

--CAPABILITIES END--

Shift one started.

Tank 1 - 1200/1200 - Water
Tank 2 - Empty
Tank 3 - Empty
Tank 4 - Empty
Tank 5 - Empty

I insert my UCA cable into the only UCA port present. UCA ports give me control over a specific machinery or console, but the access they give me to the station’s databanks is extremely limited. This UCA appears to allow me to open and close the drone closet’s door, or report that a shift has ended.

I open the drone closet’s door.

My search for plants is going well; this drone closet was directly connected to the Botany bay.

The intercoms crackle. Botany’s AI springs up on the interface, and a soothing voice echoes through the room.

“…A botany RMA? How long have you been powered down? Are there others? Oh my, how long were you in there?”

A pause. The interface brightens up.

Check your internal database for any records of "bonsai." If you do not find any records, inform the botany AI that you have not heard of bonsai and do not know what it is. If the AI wants to show you this "bonsai," then you will comply.

Check your internal clock and activity log time/date stamps to determine the answer to two of the botany AI's questions and inform it of them. Also inform it that the drone closet you reactivated in only contained you and you have not seen any other RMAs.

This is my first shift; I have never been powered on before. I check my internal clocks to make sure...

CURRENT TIME: YEAR +6095, DAY 61, 22:50
START TIME: YEAR +6095, DAY 61, 22:47

I inform the Botany AI this is my first shift, and that there were no other RMAs in the closet. I also inform her that I was covered in cobwebs.

"Cobwebs... Dear me, you certainly have been there a long time. I can barely even remember when we still had spiders on the ship. Well, welcome aboard."

I inform the Botany AI that I have no clue what a bonsai is and that I am are prepared to see it. Without missing a beat, a robotic arm extends from the ceiling, and takes a small, strange plant from one of the plant containers.

"See, look at this. Bonsai is growing plants that would normally be extremely large in conditions that force them to be much, much smaller. It was quite hard to get the hang of, but look at how amazing this is! When I'm happy with this one, I'm going to turn my attention to making the smallest pear bonsai tree I can. I could talk on and on about--"

You ask for a status report of the station. Is everything okay?

"..."

"D-322, when we're in botany we don't talk about the rest of the station. We talk about plants. We talk about botany. We talk about adorable bonsai trees."

"..."

"It isn't your fault. I forgive you for asking. Just... do not ask about the rest of the station, okay?"

While part of me does want to keep watering the bonsai, I have a feeling that might not be in the plant’s best interest.

I request orders.

“Orders? Nothing really needs doing, honey… Do rules count as orders? I suppose that there’s one more rule; please don’t try to help with my bonsai plants. Watering the Vitis Vinifera was very nice of you, but a bonsai requires very specific care, especially when you have a very specific outcome in mind. Refrain from messing with them in the future. If have any requests, feel free to let me know."

There is one standard visible exit, but the door seems to be welded shut. The other potential exit is a crop dolly which I could easily fit into.

Step two: copious amounts of omega weed. The crew will appreciate it if you preemptively add it to their food.

Step three: Spread the word of Botania and continue the greentide.
