It's not sure how long it's been here. It's whole life, probably. Maybe it's before that, though. The 'life' thing. It has a general idea what that is, but it can't seem to get any details. So maybe it hasn't had one of those yet.
It hopes it will get one soon, but it hasn't managed to find one no matter how hard it looks. In fact, it's never found much of anything around here. It gave up walking a while ago. There isn't really a 'here' to explore, anyway.
Weird. As soon as it sits down, words appear. It glances to the side, unsure of what to do. But really, what are the chances that whatever it's looking at can guide it on the correct course. It's just looking in a random direction, not actually at anything... right?

Ida smiles, nodding. It tells the something that it came up with that just now.
"That's a stupid name," the something says. "But I guess it's yours now. You'll have to live with a stupid name. Or... I guess we could trade.You like my tail, right? I bet it would go great on the end of that stick of yours. I could trade the point of my tail to you for that name."
That sounds like a good deal to it, but it still takes a moment to think it over.

Know shrugged. "That might wor- Oh. Oh my god, I have a name! I have a name again!" Know jumps up, beaming, and shakes Ida's hand. "Thank you! Maybe you're an asset after all! Even if you don't really have anything except your eyes and your name. As a thanks, I'll help you find some more... well, more. You'll need arms and legs, plus clothes, and maybe outlines and colour... But no-one gets outlines and colour, so forget about that. Just try to get as much as you can!"
Ida asks why it needs more.
"You'll need a voice, too. I have a few spare, but I don't want to give them up. They make me distinct," Know mumbles. "Anyway. You need more so you don't fade away. Anything you can get to make you stand out."

There's a snap and suddenly Know- no, that name saw given back to Ida. In fact, Ida now owns all their combined assets.
The blue something tells Ida to run again, that they can't let the not-nothing eat what little they have. The blue something promises that Ida will see it again, but that it has to go for now. The not-nothing won't stop until it's found something.

Ida smiles a little. Maybe she can meet someone else. Hopefully. She's learned what loneliness is now. But she tries to be hopeful! Her friend said that they would meet again! It wouldn't break it's promise, right?
In the meantime, Ida has to prepare. It has a few spare parts now, like her extra feet. She can trade them if she happens to find anyone to trade with.
There are always the markets to go to, but she's not sure if she's ready for that. She may have her friend's street smarts, but she doesn't have first-hand experience with the markets, so she's likely to loose everything she has if she goes there.

Ida attaches the end of her tail as a speartip, unequipping the rest of the tail. She unequips the wings, too, since she doesn't have much use for them right now. Left was a bit of a vague instruction, she she just picks the direction that feels the most left to her as she things about what 'somethings' even are.
If 'innocence and hope' can be a something, and 'street smarts' can be a something, then it stands to reason anything can be somethings, even anything she doesn't know she has yet. She does have a '???' something, after all. So if her goal is to gather somethings for herself and her friend, then that must be a something, too. And her friendship could be a something! But she doesn't want to add those to the assets list. Those are somethings that she would never want to trade away, after all. Instead, she makes a second list.

The moment Ida gives them a mouth and a voice the child wails, clinging to her. Poor thing is still shaking, unable to say anything coherent. The thought occurs to Ida that they might be trying to steal from her, but even so she can't ignore them. What if they really are just that scared?

"So no on the outlines?" Ida asks.
"You could get both outlines. You'll need them to stop yourself from fading, after all," Chesh says. "You've got about two days before you fade completely without them. I guess I'll trade you two outlines for... either your friendship with 'blue something', or that child you have there. They'll be well looked-after. I'll give them an outline for free, and hands and feet, anything they need. Safety, too. All they would need to do is run errands for me."

Kit thinks about it for a while before nodding. They look scared, but they always look scared. Besides, they seem to feel a lot better once Chesh gives them hands, feet, and some outlines. He even gives them an eye that matches the one they already had.
"Bye, Kit. Maybe I'll see you again soon, okay?" Ida says, smiling.
Kit returns the smile. "Bye, Miss Ida!" they say, kicking their feet a little as they sit up on the trading post.
Ida doesn't equip the outlines yet. She's a little worried about how it will feel when she does, to be honest.
"Oh, and by the way," Chesh says, " I threw some pants into the deal, so you're not arrested for indecency. And be sure to un-equip your sketch layer once you get those outlines on, or you'll just look silly."

Ida makes her way back to where she lost her blue friend, trying to stop shaking. The green... whatever-it-is has grown since she last saw it. In fact, it towers above her. She might not be equipped for this... But the green thing isn't chasing her. It's just sitting there. Ida can sort of see things moving around in it.

But it is odd that it only wants blue somethings/someones.

I think the best thing you can do now is leave and try again later, when you're stronger. Even if your blue someone isn't in there, it would be nice to kill this green thing so that it can't hurt anyone anymore.

We could go back to Cheshire Cat and ask if he knows about this green thing.

Ida walks in, immediately uncomfortable. It's like there's something eating away at the back of her mind...
The someone around her hardly look like someones at all anymore. They still have voices, though, and keep calling out. They beg Ida to give up some of her somethings to save them.

Besides, you're only looking for 1 specific blue someone, but there's no guarantee that you'll find it in here! It could've gotten away and isn't in here! But there's no way to know for sure! If only you could identify the 1 blue someone you're looking for, that would make this much easier!

The green is most likely moving to keep you contained within it. You'll need to either go very fast or recruit one of the blues to help. After all, if they can move once you give them something, they can go in the opposite direction you're going which will force the green to make a choice as to who it can keep.

Optimally you would give multiple blues things so they can help, then find your friend in here and have him go in the same direction as you.
