(Warning, terrible art and a realistically difficult quest ahead)

It's over a thousand years in the future, and your planet is controlled by the OPS corporation.

You are one of the few who dare oppose them.

Your stats are as follows:

Strength: Bad

Dexterity: Good

Constitution: Average

Intelligence: Average

Wisdom: Just below average (Can be upped to average very soon)

Charisma: Average

You may raise any stat to a "good", what stat would that be?
>>
No. 871925 ID: 10c408

change strength. Average all-rounder means we don't have any weaknesses and two stats above normal as opposed to just one.
>>
No. 871926 ID: 543d5f

Strength has been upped to "Good".

Now tell me, what did Kyle do before he became a rebel? This can be anything from a bum to a bounty hunter to an artist.

Keep in mind that this planet is isolated, so nothing involving outer space.

Why he experienced the tyranny of the OPS corporation first hand. He worked for them!

Technically everyone on the planet "works for" the OBS corporation, as they own all businesses on the planet. I assume you mean work for OPS directly. Please specify further:

: Bureaucrat

: Hired Muscle

: Politician

: Researcher

: Technician

Technician. Kyle saw first-hand the great machines of mass destruction that's parked within their great houses. He touched them, built them, felt them, and became them.

No. 871933 ID: 543d5f

>>871932

Kyle didn't see any machines of mass destruction, but they did have him work on some tech that was more advanced than anything he had seen before.

Being a technician in his past life, Kyle is good at fixing and creating devices, perceiving his environment, and exerting himself physically.

What role has Kyle played so far as a Rebel?

: Fighter

: Psychic

: Expert (skills based)

: Combination of two of the previous three (obviously weakens benefits compared to specializing)
>>

Expert. He knew OPS' technology in and out. He reared them as if they were his children, now that they're grown up, he now wonders where he everything went wrong. Now he uses his expertise to free them from wrongful usage.

Kyle was born a meta-psion, the rarest of the rare. Normally the OPS corporation detects and raises psions themselves, but due to Kyle's exceptionally rare abilities, he was able to mask his powers from birth.

Kyle now has the ability to

: Mask his psionic aptitude from other psions. He keeps this power active constantly.

: Detect the usage of psionic abilities and partially resist their effects.

One last thing before we begin our journey: Kyle has developed a certain aptitude over time. What aptitude is that?

: Assassination
: Awareness
: Close Combatant
: Diplomatic
: Ferocious Melee Attacker
: Gunslinger
: Hacker
: Hard to Kill
: Healer
: Henchmen-Keeper
: Leader of Men
: Natural Armor
: Outnumbered Melee Combat Proficiency
: Psychic Training (Specify from Biopsionics, Precognition, Telekinesis, Telepathy, or Teleportation)
: Sniper
: Specialist (Specify skill)
: Thown/Melee weapon proficiency
: Tinker
: Unarmed Specialist
: Well Connected

Kyle now has the "Hard to Kill" trait. This grants him additional health and the ability to stabilize automatically after receiving most serious wounds.

Kyle also had one free skill which I will helpfully auto-set as "Shoot" so he has at least some offensive ability.

Kyle is wearing an Armored Undersuit, and carrying the following:

: Laser Pistol (Unregistered/illegal) (Readied)

: Monoblade Knife (Readied)

: Wrist-mounted multi-tool (Readied)

: Backpack

: Datapad (Readied)

: 4 small batteries

: Toolkit

: 6 units of spare parts

>Oh shit. They told me psionics could manifest mental issues if they weren't properly trained, but I thought that was just a scare tactic! Is that what you voices are? Ohhh god, I don't need this right now.

Cassandra, owner of the bar and well respected rebel walks over. She puts on a tough front, but she's somewhat of a den mother to the rebels.

Cassandra: "Hey Kyle, ready to order yet?"

Kyle: "Umm, chicken salad! I mean, uh, spicy ramen. Er, n-no, I'll just have a burger, thanks."

Cassandra: "Whoah, you sound really tense. Is everything okay? You aren't... detecting anything strange are you?"
>>
No. 872169 ID: 555f33

I mean, probably not. It's going to be uncomfortable but it probably isn't a sign of deteriorating mental health.

Doubt you want to talk to her about us, though, so at least tell her you aren't detecting anything dangerous.

And are you going to order fries yet?

>Well you guys aren't a psionic projection, otherwise I would have detected you. Unless someone else can mask their powers like I can? In any case, you don't seem hostile so I'll humour you for now.

Kyle: "I'm fine, I probably just looked up too fast or something, messed with my blood pressure. And no, I didn't detect anything."

Cassandra looks at you curiously.

Cassandra: "If you say so. Well as long as you're feeling okay, there's a job we really need-"

Kyle drops to the floor and Cassandra kicks over the table.

Cassandra: "I have a way out behind the bar, but we need a diversion so they'll think we're still behind this table. Any ideas?"
>>

"Hey. Do you guys what food? We have lots of it."
>>
No. 872398 ID: f38731

Would have been nice to get a psionic skill but what we do have is a gun, a multitool?, and the table. We're pretty strong, we could use the table as a battering ram.
>>
No. 872422 ID: 094652

That table won't last against high-grade laser rounds. Throw the table at them and shoot through it while they're stunned!
>>
No. 872450 ID: 33cbe7

Suppressing fire! And by that I mean shoot the fire sprinklers.
>>
No. 872503 ID: 543d5f

>>872422

The table weighs around 100lbs and would be extremely cumbersome to throw. You would also need a spinning motion, meaning you would be completely visible for 3-5 seconds.

>>872398

You have everything listed in >>872117 , although note that anything not "readied" will take a few seconds to pull out of your backpack.

>>872450

As a former Technician, you know that fire suppression is a lot more advanced than detecting heat and spraying water. It uses a basic AI to detect fires, and then suppresses them with a compound good for suppressing all types of fires.
>>
No. 872505 ID: 555f33

>>872503
Oh, sorry, I meant I don't exactly know what they do. Is it a multitool like, it has a pair of scissors and also a screwdriver and a file? Or futurey.

>>872450
While shooting at them won't work, is there any way to have that AI? like with the datapad or something. That would give us the time to combine it with the table throw and have a pretty good distraction.
>>
No. 872506 ID: 33cbe7

>>872503
Okay, annnnd a catastrophic breach of the fire suppressant pipes above the soldiers' position would be an excellent distraction.
>>

Hack* I mean, of course.
>>
No. 872519 ID: 543d5f

>>872505

It's a futuristic multi-tool. Basically it can do anything related to personal-scale fixing/creating. If you wanted to work on a hovercraft, building, etc. you would need a full size toolkit (which Kyle has)

People are very cautious about wireless security in the future, so most things are on an internal network and only hackable with direct access to the data line (LAN cable basically) On top of that, the Program skill used for hacking is separate from the Fix skill, so Kyle kinda sucks at it.

There may be a local wireless network for the bar with non-vital functions that Cassandra could access with your datapad though.

>>872506

Kyle thinks about this for a moment. It could work, but he would need a good roll to guess where the suppression pipes are, and would also elevate any current charges against him to attempted murder charges, as he would be firing an unlicensed pistol in the direction of OPS Security.
>>
No. 872523 ID: 555f33

>>872519
Then, Cassandra could access the lighting and maybe the sound system to either disorient the guards or direct their attention to a different part of the bar. I liked the fire suppression idea but avoiding attempted murder sounds better.

Kyle hands Cassandra the datapad.

Kyle: "Blast some audio and flicker the lights as quickly as possible, their nightvision has a quarter second transition delay."

Cassandra types in her credentials as quickly as she can. The footsteps of the security officers are growing uncomfortably close when Kyle hears an ear shattering song start playing and sees the lights go black. Cassandra grabs his hand.

Cassandra: "To the bar! Go go go!"

She bolts off toward the bar Kyle does his best not to trip over anything as he follows. Right before he makes it to the bar, he trips over another patron and sprawls onto the floor.

872530

Kyle lifts his head up from the ground and sees a laser incinerate the floor between his legs.

Cassandra grabs Kyle and pulls him over the bar. She types a few digits into a data pad disguised as an old menu, and a hatch opens in the floor.

Cassandra: "Come on, let's go!"
>>
No. 872534 ID: 543d5f

They jump down the hatch and seal it behind themselves. Cassandra presses a button on the underside of the hatch and the edges glow white hot, sealing the hatch shut.

They're now standing in a tunnel, large enough to walk in if you crouch. Cassandra motions toward the long path ahead and starts walking.

Cassandra: "I don't know if they saw you, but I'm fucked for sure. I'm going to have to live outside the city in our Koros safehouse."

Kyle: "I'm sorry."

Cassandra: "Eh, it was bound to happen eventually. Anyway, speaking of the safehouse, that job I was trying to tell you about earlier is actually that the air filtration system in the Koros safehouse is going bad, and we were hoping you could fix it. If you need to pick up or drop off anything first, there are exits from this tunnel into the city. So are you coming with me, or do you need to do something first?"
>>
No. 872550 ID: 33cbe7

Yes. I need to kill Mr. OPS himself for crimes against my precious machines.
>>
No. 872586 ID: 555f33

I mean you have what it takes to make that sort of repair, unless it needs spare parts. Even if the safehouse has those spare parts it couldn't hurt to get more before you go there. Except financially.

As a meta note before I continue, this is not a comedic quest.

I'm glad people are interested regardless of the reason (even if it's just to laugh at my awful art) but I would appreciate it if people stopped with the joke replies.

Replies don't have to be deathly serious all the time. "Flirt with her!" is a perfectly valid suggestion, but if you're telling Kyle to do or say something funny that I would never have him do, you are derailing the atmosphere I'm attempting to set.
