>"The dungeon's entrance should be up ahead. Can you believe it, Seka? We're going on our first rescue mission!" Noko leads ahead of me.

"The guild must have a lot of faith to task us with something like this after only a couple of missions."

>"And we can't fail their trust! You got my back, right?"

"I finally learned tackle shoving you out of the way of too many surprises; I have to."

I've known my servine buddy ever since we were kids. Noko was really excited to learn our town had a guild and worked hard to become an explorer to help pokemon ever since. He wanted me to come with him to see if I'd have any luck learning moves because I've had trouble for the longest time learning anything. The guild seems to like those who are bold, but sometimes, he makes rash decisions when emotional.

>"...Who knows, you might even learn a move or two while we're here."

"What makes you say that?"

>"They say that 'crisis brings out potential', and we're heading to a water dungeon!"

"..."

>"...If anything goes wrong, I'll protect you. Plus, they said this place shouldn't be so dangerous since it's so close to town. Usually.

His heart's in the right place though.

We exit the cavern and head outside.

"Woah."

Jagged Falls. Residing on a cliffside that's west of our town, it's named for the rock that poke out all around. Waterfalls envelope open cave sides where there isn't wall. They eventually lead into this sunken, but pretty grove.

I don't see anything that looks like an entrance though...

Nah.

Dive and look for the other side of the waterfall.

Your buddy's going to get you and himself killed.

Anyway the entrance is probably behind the waterfall so lets get this over with now, if you can swim then dive right in while your pal checks out the top of the waterfall and if you can't swim have your grass friend find the entrance while you go home cause this ain't the mission for you.

This spot feels too open and exposed for taking a break. It looks like there's the barest hint of a shape behind the waterfall. Might be some kind of pathway.

>"Wanna take five here for a bit?"
If you're actually on a rescue mission, you don't exactly have time to chill and smell the flowers. There's someone in need of rescuing!

Although considering these dungeons seem to only exist as places to rescue people from, I really wonder why the people you end up rescuing go in in the first place.

How does normal water affect you as a fire pokemon? Just dislike or actual pain?

"Thanks for considering my health, but I'm alright. If you need a small break to collect yourself, go ahead, I don't see anything that looks like an entrance from here anyway. I'm gonna look around to see if I can spot anything."

Like most mystery dungeons, their entrances move, but stay confined to an approximate area. This one is no exception.

To review, Noko knows vine whip, wrap, and iron tail. I know how to tackle.
We're carrying 4 oran berries, 2 apples, and an escape orb to warp out once we find whoever's in trouble.

While I look around...

>so what do you know about this dungeon and what do you know about this mission you two are taking?
We were briefed that this dungeon centers around water pokemon, but on average, they've been reported to not be terribly dangerous. It's not a long crawl either.

The mission itself is that a group was sent to investigate rowdy activity that's been coming from around here, but an SOS mail implies it didn't go so well, which leads us here.

>I really wonder why the people you end up rescuing go in [dungeons] in the first place.
Sometimes teams get sent to investigate any suspicious activity around dungeons, like gatherings of bad pokemon, and get left at the dungeon's mercy even with preparation. I bet the same thing happened to the guys in our case as well.

>Don't you at least know Ember, being a fire pokemon?
I should, right? But... no, I don't. Ever since I was born, I didn't know moves I should innately know. Tackle seemed to come to me after shoving Noko out of the way one too many ambushes though. Progress! He's noted I'm pretty strong.

>How does normal water affect you as a fire pokemon? Just dislike or actual pain?
It's different depending on the pokemon. For most, me included, natural water doesn't do any harm, so swimming and bathing is possible. Water moves with the intent to harm will hurt though.

So, good stats but you have to learn moves by practice or something. Have you practiced producing fire? Can you... use it offensively without it being a "move"?

>>892116
Not yet. You can't see where you need to land.
How about Noko uses a vine whip to attempt to attach to the bottom of the opening? That would reveal what height the floor of the cave entrance is at. Depending on how strong the vine whip is you could get tossed over... but just knowing where you need to aim would greatly help a jump. Then either Noko can grapple across with a vine whip attached to the top of the opening, or you could grab his vines to help pull him up after he swings over and dangles below it.
>>

Would it be possible for your friend to use vine whip to carry through the falls then once your on the other side have him use it to pull himself across?
>>
No. 892128 ID: b38f01

Have him stretch a vine out and see how far a jump that is. When you're ready to jump, remember to roll when you land!

...I can produce fire from the spots on me, but they're not hot enough to be used offensively without being channeled through moves. It's useful for seeing in the dark.

>Abilities?
>Wearable items?

Noko's grass attacks seems to hit harder when he's in a pinch. Maybe my ability will be like his?
We're not wearing anything fancy that has extra effects. Just simple accessories that have our Guild's emblem pins on them; a cravat and a neckband.
