Actual mahjong is multiplayer. The tile matching game we've got over here is the dumbed down version of it - kind of like if we got poker and turned it into solitaire.

I watched the two series pretty much back to back, to there's a lot of bleed-over in my mind regarding them. Should've been Mahjong Legend Akagi posted, not Hikaru no Go.

I enjoyed it.

It kept the good stuff from Generals (the powers and break away from the rigid building zones) and improved how it worked and brought back the classic gameplay from RA2.

Also I loved how the Mammoth Tanks in C&C could just CRUSH OTHER TANKS.

You got to fight psychic's on the moon!
Okay that was ridiculous, but the time travel stuff was fun... and ridiculous.
Okay but it was fun in an utterly ridiculous way!

CnC 3 I'm not so sure... for fuck's sake, Cameron from House was your CO on the GDI side! She's always wrong in House, why should I be taking orders from her! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_Ip2qXK-rM
That's my only complaint though, the rest was solid.

Well they even mentioned that it was like a B-Movie with half the stuff Yuri was doing. IIRC it was the London mission for the Allies when the Flying Discs showed up. At least it wasn't BEARS WITH PARACHUTES! and PSYCHIC SCHOOLGIRLS! and HELICOPTER WITH A SHRINKRAY!

Not sure if Weaver is up to trying to stream again but I got Magic Pengel to run smoothly in a battle in a stream after mucking around in various programs and settings for a while. With this graphics option selected instead of the default and using Webcammax with VHScrCap as the capture driver I ended up getting a very smooth picture on Justin.TV with the "Best" setting and set to 900+ bitrate.
VH Screen Capture Driver settings were 30 fps and all optional boxes unchecked.
Webcammax with watermark removal and VHScrCap is available at http://shareboo.com/?l0gjbf9efikfdgfj

Hey LD if you could do me a favor and keep workin' that magic, see if you can get Graffiti Kingdom to run.

I've tried it off my DVDrom drive and the actual purchased DVD and I've tried it on a burned ISO of that DVD, and both ways with all the graphics/sound plugin combos I tried, it would get to the trademark screen just after the language select, then hang.

So Copyright Taito 2005 and all that, and then it just would not go past that. Wouldn't actually play at all. The compatibility list (and in fact a recent update for which I have the proper version) says it should be 100% working

Maybe it needs something specific I dunno but I'd really like to be able to at least try and stream it, even though it'll probably also run so slow as to be unplayable.

I'm having issues with it but not the issues you had. My best guess is a problem with your .iso or your Cdvdrom choice. What I'm using gets past that but has some graphics issues (Might only be in the opening cutscene, going to get to a save point and then see if it continues and then gonna try some settings.)

I've managed to get it working pretty well.
I ended up using the newest beta of PCSX2 with bilinear filtering in the graphics settings, and patches enabled in Misc.

JUST AS GOOD. I'm kind of surprised-- I haven't really done anything noteworthy until... just now, apparently.

For those going "WHAAAAT!?? WHO'S THIS FAGGOT CAUSE WE CALL EVERYONE FAGGOTS FOR SOME REASON", I made a small time quest on my LJ with my friends to learn about the questing format first-hand. TGchan managed to find my experiment so now some of you know me a bit earlier than I expected. I hope nobody minds me typing out this little introduction here. I'm new at CHAN type boards.

So, um. Hi!

What is with artists and drawing one nipple at a 90 degree angle regardless of which direction they're facing.

It's because those are actually two massive, animatronic fursuits containing the total hell-population of furfags in one big orgy. The stench is unbearable.

Or it's because it's actually a really old /tg/ drawthread pic that never got used and the perspective of the distant cliffs is fucked.

>>7081
The torso is rotated, so not exactly. Its small diameter combined with relatively oversized breasts and chest-forward pose also exaggerates the angle. I dunno; there's a point where the humour runs out in over-analysing joke porn and it's somewhere before redlining a skeletal and muscular structure onto it.

How much Lovecraft ghouls look like gnolls was really hammered in by this Delta Green pic. Granted this one's a particularly classy ghoul but still.
>>
No. 8105 ID: f35afd

I guess that might be because they're both vaguely 'hyena people' sort of. Lovecraft's ghouls are hairless, with wrinkly skin and only vaugely animal-like traits, whereas gnolls are supposedly a lot more hyena-like specifically.

They're both government involvement on the federal level, not to mention that the /b/ poster mentioned agencies like the FDA and the DOA, which regulate the food and drug supply even though they don't control them directly. In the case of public education, state and local government involvement is still government involvement.

The point, that those people are wrong who decry the government as fundamentally incapable of doing things right, still stands.

>In the case of public education, state and local government involvement is still government involvement.
Yes, but it's not federal involvement. The differences here are
1. that the federal government has no business dealing with such things, because that's not its fucking job.
2. The federal government is the one generally perceived as lacking the ability to do well running shit.
State and local governments are not obligated to keep their noses out of such things, and in fact I totally support the public healthcare in my state.
Nonetheless, public health care at the federal level is not something that should happen. It's not in keeping with what the union is, as defined in the Constitution of the United States of America, and the federal government has a history of bureaucracy, financial issues, and general fucking up. Much of this is to be expected purely due to its size, but that doesn't mean that it's wise to go giving it additional purviews to suffer from this.

The FDA and DOA remain irrelevant, as they are regulatory bodies.

The post offices, which I neglected to discuss previously, are indeed a good institution.
They are also in quite a bit of debt.

tl;dr: The government is not totally incompetent in every way. But socializing healthcare at the federal level is still not a thing that should happen.

Your head's so far up your ass it's a wonder you're able to type.

let me pick this apart piece by piece:

>Yes, but it's not federal involvement. The differences here are
>1. that the federal government has no business dealing with such things, because that's not its fucking job.
I'm not even sure what this is referring to. If it's referring to public education, you're right. If it's referring to the healthcare bill, then you're just wrong (see below).

>2. The federal government is the one generally perceived as lacking the ability to do well running shit.
Refer to the original post.

>State and local governments are not obligated to keep their noses out of such things, and in fact I totally support the public healthcare in my state.
So... what's the difference between state public healthcare and federal public healthcare exactly?

>Nonetheless, public health care at the federal level is not something that should happen. It's not in keeping with what the union is, as defined in the Constitution of the United States of America,
The Constitution only really says what the government can NOT do, and federal healthcare doesn't go against any part of the constitution as far as I know.

>and the federal government has a history of bureaucracy, financial issues, and general fucking up. Much of this is to be expected purely due to its size, but that doesn't mean that it's wise to go giving it additional purviews to suffer from this.
Again, see the original post.

>The FDA and DOA remain irrelevant, as they are regulatory bodies.

>The post offices, which I neglected to discuss previously, are indeed a good institution.
>They are also in quite a bit of debt.
The whole government is in debt, but that's another issue altogether. Suffice to say that the amount of money they owe is of surprisingly little signifigance at this point.

>tl;dr: The government is not totally incompetent in every way.
waitwaitwait, you just said that the government has a history of incompetence.

>I'm not even sure what this is referring to.
I was referring to both. It's true of both.

>Refer to the original post.
The original post includes examples of federal regulation and of state programs. The only federal program listed is the Post Office, which, while a good service, is pretty far in debt.
Therefore that post does not refute what I said.

>So... what's the difference between state public healthcare and federal public healthcare exactly?
There are two relevant differences.
1. Federal public healthcare is not constitutionally allowed, while the states have no such restriction.
2. The state is (in many or most cases) competent at running these sorts of programs.

>The Constitution only really says what the government can NOT do,
False. The constitution states the purpose of the federal government, and its structure. Amendment 10 further prohibits the federal government from doing anything that it is not specifically entitled to do by the constitution. Try actually reading the constitution, please. It's not long.
http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html

>Again, see the original post.
The original post doesn't even address this. At most, the original post states that the government's agencies and bureaucracy and all that have an end result of everything working out mostly okay for the average American. What it's really saying is that the influence of government is pervasive. I do not disagree with either of those facts.

>The whole government is in debt, but that's another issue altogether.
It is indeed. The debt of the post office is unrelated to the debt of the federal government as a whole. So why bring that up? The fact of the matter is that the post office is financially flawed, and as such there is absolutely no incidence of the federal government doing a good job with socialism.

>waitwaitwait, you just said that the government has a history of incompetence.
Check again. What I said:
>history of bureaucracy, financial issues, and general fucking up
Also note that even if I had said they had a history of incompetence, that is not mutually exclusive with saying that they are not totally incompetent in every way. Incompetence is not a binary. The federal government could be worse than it is. It could also be better. These statements are also not mutually exclusive. I recognize the fact that the federal government has done a passable job in all of the organizations that remain at large. I recognize that regulatory bodies are indeed capable of regulation.
I do not think they would be able to do a good job with socialized healthcare.

>I'm afraid there are not enough government officials on this site to generate a decent discussion of issues in the government.
I'm pretty sure there are enough US voters, though.

>The original post includes examples of federal regulation and of state programs. The only federal program listed is the Post Office, which, while a good service, is pretty far in debt.
>Therefore that post does not refute what I said.
This argument is so mind-bogglingly stupid that I'm at a loss as to how to address it. Okay, let me try: It doesn't matter if it's a service, or regulation, or whatever the fuck else you want to call it. It's still a case of the government effectively managing the country, which is something you seem to have some fucking fear of or something.

>Amendment 10 further prohibits the federal government from doing anything that it is not specifically entitled to do by the constitution.
Okay, looking back, I guess you could read it that way. However, I'm sure Obama could find several precedents and a few loopholes allowing him to pass the healthcare bill. Why are we even against this, anyway? What horrible thing does it do to make everybody hate it?

But I digress.

>
It is indeed. The debt of the post office is unrelated to the debt of the federal government as a whole. So why bring that up? The fact of the matter is that the post office is financially flawed, and as such there is absolutely no incidence of the federal government doing a good job with socialism.
By that I meant individual parts of the government as well as the whole, which come to think of it probably isn't entirely correct. The point is, every part of the government's got its own little problems and the postal service is pretty much the norm.

>Check again. What I said:
>history of bureaucracy, financial issues, and general fucking up

>implying that the above quote is not incompetence

Since my opinion is requested... Man, this falls squarely on the 'hilarious' side to me. I love it when people attempt to abuse intellectual property rights and get a foot lodged firmly in their nads. I will say, if this would have happened in American court, he would have been absolutely fistfucked into oblivion for forging evidence and perjury. How can you even think that's going to work?

Anyway, I thought it was great. I'd heard of this asstard before, but had sort of assumed he'd disappeared. I will say, it sort of peeves me that companies are more willing to just pay his use rights fees than actually challenge his obviously retarded trademark claims. That's the only reason he's gotten away with this for as long as he has.

On the US side of things, his constant attempts to sue EA over Mirror's Edge led EA to petition the PTO to cancel his trademarks. The resulting litigation ultimately led to a settlement where he agreed to surrender the trademarks in exchange for not being found guilty of any wrongdoing.

It is pretty surprising that this scumbag has profited from his trademark cons, yet doesn't seem to have technically been punished for that. Losing the trademarks pales in comparison to keeping the hundreds of thousands of pounds of settlements he's received. An overblown (and not exactly well-fitting) metaphor would be confiscating someone's gun after they shoot a guy and leaving it at that.

Oh, and I guess if we're pointing out game sales, GOG.com's having an Interplay one for another day or so:
http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay
Being GOG, it's from when Interplay were good, so highlights include Fallout 1 and 2 (the former being hands-down the best CRPG I've played), Descent was highly rated (if ancient now), Earthworm Jim 1+2, Freespace 2 has raving fans, and weird things like Giants: Citizen Kabuto, MDK, Messiah and Sacrifice which IIRC were all a bit "cult".

(Careful: the Jagged Alliance 2 there is some kind of stand-alone expansion thing, not the actual sequel.)

Ah. So that's where Giger got the inspiration for facehuggers' visual design.

Timelapse of a professional concept artist at work.

I'm kind of surprised that he spends the time 3D modelling it to then drop back to 2D. I wonder if that ends up thrown away and it gets remodelled from scratch for use as a game asset.

Not really. Most guys designing items for steam workshop use the same method. Usually get a concept down on PS, make a model of it in a 3D program, and then porting the dimensions to PS to get touched up before porting that back to the 3d model.

Though in this guy's case it's more for delivering concept art, so yeah, there's a good chance this might just get thrown out. At the concept stage, everything is up in the air as to whether it'll make it or not.

I have found a great new way to read quests.

Shame about the lack of robust PNG support.
