2070 No. 2070 ID: 381df9

How many people use the board and not the IRC? Also if you use IRC do you use #tgchan or #rubyquest or both?

I was on the IRC a few times, on rubyquest.

That's about it.

both, both

Lately, I'm one of those people. Used to be on IRC frequently, though.

Used to frequent the IRC, fell out of the habit when the school blocked it.
I find things more surprising this way.

Board only.

I only use #RubyQuest. I never browse the boards.

Both and Both, though I had a holiday absence from the IRC.

Only the boards for me. I don't have time for IRC.
>>
No. 2198 ID: 728150

IRC only, aside from the occasional foray into the boards like this. None of the quests are interesting to me anymore, the /tg/ board doesn't generate any interesting threads, and /meep/ uses ID codes.
>>
No. 2199 ID: 3416ec

Both. #tgchan is my choice of IRC.

Both for me! Though I started only on #tgchan.

You don't like any of them anymore? Maybe you could start a thread in /questdis/ about how quests have gone wrong.

I only use the board.

I'm not on IRC because I don't want just whoever happens to come on the network to be able to get my IP. When I post here it just shows an ID, but Rizon makes sure you know my exact IP, which may or may not have some hackable services up on it. Stop using fucking Rizon and switch to a network that doesn't block tor and I'll be happy to come around once and a while. :<

Run your own IRC server and you can give everyone their ID as hostmasks. That works too.

I use the IRC a lot more than the board. Rubyquest almost exclusively because tgchan is for babies.

Are these the 1337 haxz0rz you're afraid of hacking you if they get your IP address.
>>
No. 2307 ID: 889351

Does it even expose your ip? I was prodding around the sources to figure out how it generates the host it shows, but didn't make progress before boredom set in. Still, it's at least obfuscated if not hashed. Besides that, you can get a vhost.

>>2307

Really? I haven't tried Rizon for a while...

Nope. Rizon shows your IP address, without any masking or obfuscation. It generates the host it shows by doing a DNS lookup on that IP address. A reverse DNS will easily get the IP anywhere in the world, and most likely your ISP puts your IP address inside the host name itself.

example:
$ host 94.23.170.70
Name: 94-23-170-70.kimsufi.com
$ host 94-23-170-70.kimsufi.com
94-23-170-70.kimsufi.com A 94.23.170.70

How did you get the sources for Rizon's IRC server? I think it's a custom hack, like every IRC server...

>>2321
Uhhhhhh.

The hosts Rizon shows me for other people are all of the form "Rizon-<eight-digit hex code>.<whatever your host is, something like "no.no.cox.net" or "dhcp.insightbb.com" to use a couple that were on my screen>," unless they're using a vhost in which case it doesn't even give me their provider. I don't see an actual IP at all unless I whois myself.

I'm not sure if you're even kidding with that video because of how absurd it is to be afraid to use IRC.

meh. Rizon has a lame hostmask system. Instead of hash(your.hostmask) they do like hash(some.prefix).what-city-you-are-in.your-ISP.net. Plus Nickserv won't let me register because I don't have an email they can use to hunt me down. Nice place, Rizon. I'll just stay here for now.

You do realize you don't need to use NickServ, right? And are you seriously afraid of having an email?

I'd need to register with Nickserv before they'd give me a proper hostmask.

>>2767

Then why do they refuse people who use a temporary email? :> I'm not the one afraid of email--they are. That seems strange to me.

I would think its to prevent spammers and the like from being able to just make a million accounts and zerg rush chatrooms.

Q is correct. Temporary emails are the haven of spammers and the paranoid. Besides, a yahoo account you only use once works JUST AS WELL.
