Psychic powers are more believable than something ignoring the square cube law.

So, I heard we had a Spelunky-thread on /meep/.

Time to share our most delicious moments.

I'll go first: I installed Spelunky and played it through on the first go. Pic related.

So how about you? Had any fun times?

How many tries did it take to do that?

My reaction to this game could be summed up as "Good christ this music is annoying and the running controls suck."

Took me 800 bloody odd tries to finally unlock the first secret room. And yet, I've only beaten the game once so far. Derp.

Oh goddamnit I've been trying to get that one for AGES.

Oh and brotip: It's easier to win the game if you don't use shortcuts. You need to gather gear for the later worlds. (jetpack and compass come to mind, though climbing gloves+jump boots+cape works too)

This is true only if you are moving at a pace slow enough to really carefully think out what you are doing. If your limiting factor is lives and not equipment, the shortcuts help. There are only a couple things you really need to be equipped for, and most you can skip. Or you can murder a shopkeeper in the level right after you exit the shortcut and half your equipment worries are solved right there. There are precious few places where you can throw enough bodies onto an alter to get extra lives though, and maidens are annoying to deal with.

(I wish you could sacrifice yourself on the alter to get that prize.)

Yeah, as of recently I've been trying for full runs. Came pretty close to beating the boss a few times, but I usually die due to stupid mistakes. I've been getting better, however. Went from dying in the first 4 to routinely making it past the Black market . Although getting a jetpack is basically an instant win for me.

hrmmm, looks like the scores control the doors. total tries or deaths opens the bottom door, high score of money controls sun, kills is probably moon and saves is stars.

It's money, kills, time, saves for opening the doors.
