>I was gonna post this on like /b/ or /advice/ but there just seems to be trolls and crap there. And I figured you guys can fix quests characters lives so why not mine you know?

>Gah... Okay let me just start from the beginning.
>My name is Karl Rallo. I'm an average guy with a average minimum wage job at a supermarket and a not so average inheritance from my late father. I have no girlfriend and no real friends to name save for Billy at work, even then he's more of like an acquaintance. Anyway so I just got hoe from work and there's....
>Well there's this little girl in a box... I don't know where she came from or who she is or why the hell someone dropped her in front of my apartment but here she is.
>She hasn't said a word to me and she's kinda just standing in my living room now...
>So tgchan, what the hell do I do?

Pic Related, it's the girl. She's in like rags and is pretty dirty.

Okay, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Is there anything written on the back of the note? Is there anything hidden in the cracks of the box?

First, offer her some food and water. Then show her to your shower and say she could get cleaned up if she wants. Don't go in there with her while she does it. Stay outside and wait for her to finish.

Offer her a snack. Have any old electronic things you don't need? You can always find some cheap used and useless stuff and give that to her. That is assuming she just eats them for materials. If she wants complex components she may be a bit more costly to feed.

Besides that treat her like a guest, if not a friend. Talk with her and be nice regardless of if she responds to it. Talk about yourself or something.

She's eating electronics, she is a robot of some sort. Doesn't mean she'll like you poking around in there though. Ask her if you can take a look.

You need to go find some old electronics to give her, if she ate a mouse she doesn't care if its good or not. You could probably get loads of broken computer parts for literally nothing. And she might be eating those things in order to repair herself, so work on getting a supply for her as soon as possible.

Of course maybe better electronics do more good for her. If you can ask her if old electronics are as good as new ones for her and get a response that would help.

it could just be the raw materials. so go to a computer scrap-yard and just pick up a wheel barrow full of parts. processors, hard drives, flash drives, you name it. another thing you could try is just get the raw parts, a cylinder of silicon, a spool of copper wire. the hardest to get would be gold which computers have trace amounts of.

Start buying broken hardware on eBay. Hard drives, XBOXes, iPods. They're usually only a few bucks a pop. Odds are she doesn't actually digest them...though that would be interesting if she did...Anyway, it should be a relatively cheap food source for her.

In the meantime ask around Radio Shacks and computer stores if you can have their super broken stuff. Just make sure to take it apart and throw away completely fused/zorched parts.

I have the sneaking suspicion melted hardware will make her sick.

It sounds like we need to do an experiment. Go online and buy a really top end computer part (CPU, etc) for ~$700. Then get a working, but kinda old computer part. Then get a non-working but not burnt up or something piece of hardware.

Feed them individually to her. Note her reaction. It would make sense that better parts are better for her, but lets check first. And don't worry about the 1000 bucks...this is for science!

>Her back plate is stuck pretty tight and it took me a while to open it.
>If there were any doubts that she were a robot this cleared it up. She has some wires and chips back there but some of it looks pretty beaten up and burnt. Some of the wires look cut to. I'm not to good with electronics so I don't wanna mess with anything...
>You know I've seen like those little robot action figures and stuff but nothing this big or advance!

>Anyway I got her some old parts from my pc and she seemed to like them. I also got her some old copper wiring and she ate them just as fast.

Since she chews it you can be certain that she just wants the raw components. So she'll eat cheap and expensive parts all just the same.

Go to a scrapyard and let her pick out what she wants to eat from all the junk. Most computers that wind up there are in working order and are simply obsolete or suffering from software problems, but since she CHEWS them she would be just fine with broken parts.

If you want to spend money on expensive parts then wait for her to be repaired enough to tell you how her repair system works.

>So I was going to take her to the scrap heap but I was thinking it might eb bad to take her out right now.
>Like, I've been watching the news and stuff and I haven't seen any reports of a missing robo girl so I'm not sure about her. I could take her out and then some shady guys dressed in black could take her away!
>So I decided to leave her home. I told her I'd be right back and to not eat any of my electronics. She didn't say anything but I think she understood.

>So I went out to the scrapyard and got some computer things and old things like some thrown out 360's and Ps3's. I also got more parts like wires and stuff and old computer ships. Some of the things there looked as good as new.

>So i went back home with my new stuff and she hadn't eaten anything. Actually she was sitting in the exact same spot I left her.

>Anyway I gave her the new stuff and she seemed to really enjoy the newish computer stuff but she ignored the Xbox. So I did a little test and split it open and she began eating the insides.

Is her hair getting longer? Is she getting any bigger? Or just heavier I guess, she should but that would be hard to test. You know, because she's eating all this stuff it needs somewhere to go, and probably can't use everything. She might use some of the non electric stuff to "grow up" her external form, if she can. So her needs are at least a bit more particular. You should focus on getting more advanced components for her. Newer computer parts, advanced game systems, etc. None of which need to be in working order of course. For metals it'll be a bit harder, since getting spools of copper wire or such is going to be more cost and work. I'd say avoid raw metals, and just get more things like hard drives for that purpose.

While she is still repairing she is probably making use of almost everything she is eating, so there wouldn't be much need to toss anything out yet.

I wouldn't feed her a battery, considering the contents. However get a 9 volt and see if she'll 'drink' the energy. Make sure to tell her not to eat the whole thing.

After that an outlet with any adapter plug might do the trick.

And you can take a car battery for emergency charges if you're every out and about.

Yeah, Batteries are not a good idea for eating.
Maybe show her a car-battery, and see what she does.
If she tries to grab the terminals, stand back and watch.
If she tries to bite it, pull her back.
They're big, so she might not try to eat it if she can't fit it in her mouth, and they have high amperage, so if she can get energy, it'll give her a pretty big boost.
However, they contain a mixture of water and Sulfuric acid, so if she does try eating it, it could damage her.
Just stand by to keep her safe.

You guys are worried about what she eats after giving her a bunch of computer parts? She's not human...we have no idea how it works...

Anyway, the idea was more about getting a 9v and seeing if she swallowed it whole or something...Something to indicate she has internal battery stores...
>>
No. 167952 ID: 6e4310

>>167937
I'm worried because she's capable of being damaged, and battery acid is VERY potent.
She's more likely to just stick the terminals to her tongue, or grab them, than to actually eat the battery, since she seems to know what would or wouldn't be good for her, but I'm trying to err on the side of caution.
You raise a good point, though. Give her a 9v, and if she swallows it, get some more small batteries. If she sticks the terminals on her tongue or something, get her a car battery. If she discards or ignores it, just find some more electronics.

Keep giving her parts for now, and pick up some glucose syrup. If you can't find it pure then get some Kero syrup, since that would still be better than a bag of sugar.
Ask her for a status update and what she needs just before each post, since that information is very important.

Continue feeding operation....but don't forget to be discreet. If you've been going to the same scrapyard for your parts for a while now, find another one.

Also, try asking your coworkers if they have any non-functioning computers/electronics they want to get rid of. Since you work in a supermarket, there should be tons of people you are slightly acquainted with. If they ask about it, say you're trying to do a kind of art project with it. If they ever ask to see the project, say that it didn't go anywhere.

Start grabbing random junk, but include a steel bar with it. Rebar, if you can get it.
Also grab various grades of plastics both hard and soft, some silicone parts, plenty of electric motors and desktop computer power supplies, and whatever high-quality cameras you can find - interchangeable lenses for focusing, and digital cameras for the CMOS sensors.

Open up her back panel and use a flashlight to look around. You need to find out what her organs are made of.

Also: Tell her to put everything possible into repairing her internal organs, and ask what materials they requires.

Ok...Another way to get lots of parts cheaply is Ebay...

There are tons of old computers /electronics on eBay that are being sold for parts relatively cheaply.

For about $150 dollars you should be able to get...

2 non-working, old laptops
2 old cellphones
25 Feet of high quality/heavy guage copper wire.

If you are running out of things to scavenge at the dump and can't get you coworkers to part w/ old electronics...You can always turn to Ebay as a last resort...

Keep getting her RAM and motherboards, and start getting her hard drives, processors, et cetera.
Also get her some very clear glass, some sand or silica powder, a camera phone, and some rare earth magnets.

We will need more information on these. Can you repair or construct these yourself, or do we need to acquire them somehow? Will not having them immediately result in irreversible malfunctions?

Fiberglass is what circuit boards are created from, so more of those are easy to acquire. You say you require plastic but you have been rejecting plastic based items, is there a particular kind of plastic you need? And gold and silver can be difficult to get due to expense, a measure of how much is needed is important.

As for a name, may I suggest Zerlina? It is a Latin name and means "created", also you can be more commonly called Lina for short.

I'm going to go with Zerlina. It's appropriate on several levels.

>>168519
>ammonium chloride
Decently cheap and readily available. Last I checked you could get it medical grade for about $45/kg.
Lina, do you need it as a flux for soldering? Could we substitute solder for lead, tin, and ammonium chloride?

>CRT monitors and TVs
Those are both CRTs, and I believe you're thinking of phosphorus.
The magnetic windings are high in copper, but broken motors are a better source for that.
Bronze is harder to come by, but we should be able to get enough of that.

>Silver
Yea, I don't know what you need that for; a catalyst agent?
On the upshot, silver's pretty cheap.
How much of it do you need? Current market value is about $18 per troy ounce, so if it's just an ounce or two that shouldn't be a problem.

>Gold
Gold is hovering around $1140 per troy ounce, so you're going to have to strip that off of circuit-boards and contact plates.

How much are the RAM chips and CPUs helping? Any type you would prefer?

Incorrect. Your wounds can be masked with layers of clothing, and you are not subject to infection or wound contamination. Surface damage will not lead to a critical failure

The largest risk of critical failure comes from organ failure. Therefore, preventing organ failure is the highest priority.

On a less important note, could you rebuild your leg if the bent portion was removed?

>Outer appearance takes priority.
It logically shouldn't, but I guess that's just how you're programmed. Can you alone or with assistance access and alter your programming to prioritize internal organs over appearance and motor control?

If we were to just cut off your leg you can eat it and rebuild it, would that process cause too much pain for you to handle? Or take too long? We could do the same for your wounds, cut the edges away cleanly so repair can be done properly? Or is a simple surface cleaning sufficient?

You have yet to address the nature of your organs. I understand their priority is low for you, but the planning stage for appearance, motor control and everything else is advanced as far as possible for the moment, so now planning on how to repair or replace internal organs can be addressed.

You bought gold online? I would have said keep feeding her scrap circuit-boards, but I suppose this is faster.
Compared to the gold, the silver and silicone are dirt cheap. At least that much is working in your favor.

When she wakes up you need to confirm for her that you consider her life to be high priority, her functionality to be medium priority, and her appearance to be low priority. Ask her to use text, not speech.

Then ask her about where you could acquire a replacement heart, and if you can put in a bypass, remove her heart, and feed it to her so she can generate a new one.

Next time you're at the scrap yard I want you to snag a whole bunch of computers and monitors so you can piece together a working system for her to use. She can eat any broken parts, so don't worry too much about it.

As far as her leg goes? We fix that pretty easily. Wake her up so she can tell you what tools you need and help you through the process, but you're going to want to use a knife to cut through her skin, move her internals out of the way, detach and remove her damaged bone, and feed it to her.

we should DE-bend her bone nonetheless. if we remove the bone she will need to spend energy to grow a new one, she will also need a casting to make sure it grows the right size.

We want to minimize the extent of the damage we cause while repairing her.
That means we REMOVE the bent bone but leave the rest of the leg completely intact. Then she only needs to regrow the bone instead of the entire limb. That gives her a shorter recovery time and lets her focus her resources on more important things.

Hopefully once we're done she should be lower maintenance, and only get by on syrups and the occasional spare part.

As for that leg, it will hurt her to remove but it's the best way for her to heal. And with the leg removed it would likely hurt far less, since what is left is undamaged. Perhaps investing in a power tool capable of cutting through metal quickly is a good idea, the pain will be brief that way and she can get to healing all the sooner.

Her "emotions" are a curious matter, they should be just emulations but they effect things in a personal sort of way for her. Something designed to just act as if they had emotions wouldn't have preferences, or have such trouble with pain. Maybe the emulations worked a bit too well?

The whole unable to have sex bit worries me though... not that there is any need for that capacity but why is it like that at all? It may be a purely physical problem, or some sort of android version of trauma. If she is actually set to explode over it we should get it fixed, just in case something else could trigger it. It would suck for her to go off like a grenade just because something hit her in the metal groin.

why? she is a robot, making things exact is one thing they are known for. it will grow to the exact size she needs then stop growing because she told it to. also, we can't un-bend it because unless we use a huge industrial straightener machine it will still be a little wonky.

how is regrowing a bone leg redirecting resources to were they are needed?

if we de-bend it and insert it, its unlikely it will cost her more energy that actualy eating the bone to grow it back form scratch.

I suspect that even if bent back into place it still wouldn't be ideal, due to subtle differences in shape and even unseen stresses in the metal could continue to cause her pain. Better to start over from scratch.

Fixing her leg is going to be easier than you might think.

Short version?
Get a knife and some bolt cutters.
Warn her first, then use a knife to cut open the flesh at her knee and ankle.
Detach the bone from the joints. This might be tricky, and if you have to force it then ALWAYS damage the bone instead of the joint.
If you can remove the bone via the existing incisions that's great, but if not then just cut along the shin.
Once the bone is out you can hand it to her and let her do her thing.

Hey Lina have you ever thought about getting a haircut? You could have someone make your hair look however you want it. Or do you like your hair the way it is normally? Just hanging down like that?

Ooooh maybe you could find one of Karl's combs and mess with your hair yourself.

Hello there Lina, how do you feel today? Use any meaning of "feel" that you feel is relevant. How well are your energy reserves holding up, do we need to get you larger quantities of syrup?

So your skin needs to be cleaned out before it can be repaired, is there anything special we need for this? Will just a damp cloth do, or do we need solvents and wire brushes or something?

The brain is important as well, I'd say second after internal organs. Does it's low state of repair represent a lack of certain materials or is it simply lagging behind due to repair priorities?

Karl could get an electric saw to cut off your damaged leg, is this a good idea? Would you be able to handle going through that at your current state or repair? Could it be perhaps disassembled less destructively?

And lastly, although it is still soon to be a great concern it will be important for you to express your likes and dislikes and the reasons for them. It's part of filling the role of a companion, caring for one another mutually is part of human nature. The matter of your hair for example, do you prefer it unkempt or do you take issue with anyone but yourself handling it?

Hello again Zerlina. Good to see that you're feeling better.

So, do you have any idea why you ended up at Karls door? You seem like quite a complicated piece of machinery and a very expensive one. So why would someone decide to dump you in front of a strangers door, and break you quite a bit before doing so. Hmmm, might be luddites that stole you and tried to break you, but that still doesn't explain the dumping in front of a door. Unless Karl works with robotics or something like that, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Could you try reviewing your logs for clues?

Causing myself pain is 'bad'. I can not remove my own leg.

So, while doing it yourself might be doing yourself pain in the short run, in the long run, it would mean you would be taking away your pain, wouldn't it?

The hair... tries to do a few too many things. You don't need the ponytail or the comb in your hair, just keep it brushed and out of your eyes and you'll be fine.

More brains always makes for a better companion, I say. Perhaps it doesn't belong as the highest priority but if you can divert enough resources so you can communicate freely with Karl it would serve him and yourself better.

I suppose we shouldn't worry too much about the sex issue, but the note that came with you said anything "bad" done to you could cause you to explode. If you have a fault that can cause an explosion, no matter the circumstances, it should be dealt with or at least understood. When you are able, do a complete diagnostic for anything that can cause such an effect.

Lastly, we know already that you dislike some things such as having your hair messed with, and that you like syrup. Can you list any other things you like and don't like? Or will you not know until the situation arises?

It is good to have likes and dislikes. Karl is simply afraid of upsetting you, and unfamiliar with the concept of non-organic intelligence. You should let him know when he wants to do something you dislike, and tell him what you like.

Eating things Karl has not permitted you to eat is bad. It may have significant value to Karl.
Ask him about it when he returns. For now you can eat the things he brought you.

I understand you turned down an old game system. Why is that?

Until you know otherwise, it is safe to assume that things Karl possesses he does not want you to consume. If he did he would have likely given it to you already. Perhaps he can be convinced to if it is necessary, but he would likely find another source of the same materials rather than part with something he is actively making use of.

It is not possessing like's and dislikes which is bad, but having to deal with them without understanding. If you were able to express that you did not want you hair messed with before Karl did so, it would not be bothered by it because he wouldn't have made you feel bad. Likewise, if you enjoy something and Karl helps you to do so he will be happier for that. This is a function of human empathy, to yourself experience the feelings of others. It is the only good reason a companion such as yourself expresses preferences and emotion.

As for why and how these preferences and emotions can be expressed at all, is a complicated question whose answer can only bring many others. But simply ignoring them or the subject can only make Karl less happy.

No need to answer the door, either it is someone for Karl and would not expect you or anyone else to answer, or they are there about you and who knows for what reason. There is a chance to complicate his life and possibly pose a threat, so stay hidden. Consider it an unknown, a kind of darkness to avoid. But it may be of some worth to observe who it is, if you can do so without being detected.

Karl didn't mention having an old mech, I don't know why... but it is there for some reason, and that is probably important. Ask him and he will explain it.

You shouldn't damage yourself, what that poster was referring to was a specific appeal to certain people towards the idea of a damaged person, artificial or not, that invokes a sense of protection for the wounded and vulnerable person. Wishing for one to be more damaged is a perversion of this desire, and not one you should heed. Even if Karl desired that, and all evidence is to the contrary, you would be better served with a solely superficial appearance of damage.

Sentimental value is kind of hard to explain to someone who only has a couple of days worth of memory. But it's similar to the value you put on your hair. Your hair hardly matters alot, but you like it anyway and you would like to keep it. Things with sentimental value are similar.

How to be a good companion is in some ways even harder. People have very different taste in companions. Sharing a couple of intrests is usually a decent start, another good point is not totally agreeing with each other. When you both completly agree on something there can't really be any good discussion, which is a bit boring. Other than that I would say someone you can be quiet with, where you can feel comfortable with being quiet.

Heh, cuteness and moe are at best subjective terms. You don't need to worry about them right now, and I would suggest not worrying about "moe" at all. Moe is just a subset of cuteness, used in certain forms of fanciful media. Anyways, he has already remarked a few times that you look cute.

We can't speak for Karl, but I think his main concern right now is that you are in properly working order. He doesn't seem to be interested in sex or the like, so after taking care of yourself just try to be a friend. Conversation, understanding, keeping each other healthy, that is all that is needed of a "companion".

Can you tell if the mech is completely disabled, or only physically? If the software and it's systems is intact then she may still be "there" in terms of memory and personality. If there is still remnants of the mech then Karl may wish to preserve them. Otherwise, it still may hold value because of his memories of it. Or it could be there for an entirely different reason. Try not to concern yourself with it until he returns.

Hello again. I apologize for not replying sooner. Karl came back from work with more parts for me to eat. I am now at 95%. The only places that still need to be repaired are my brain
and my leg. I have tried to put more material into rebuilding ym brain but for some reason
my body will not let me.

I will tell you more about that later.

I asked Karl about the droid in ther box. He said it was a gift he had recieved a while
back. I asked him what had happened to it adn he said after a while it just stopped working.

The older droids were like that. After a while they just stopped. I wanted to know whay he
kept it and if I could eat it but he said it was special to him. It is not okay for me to
eat it. Eating it would be bad. I checked the droid again, the 'brain' is still working. I could move it to a new body. Would that be good?

My leg is still bent, Karl said he can not stand the thought of ripping out the bone. I said I was okay with it but he did not want to cause me more pain. I do not mind walking with a limp and have been eating syrup to produce painkillers.

You had said that I could be a better companion by talkinh to Karl adn finding out more
about him and his intrest and he can find out about mine. So for the past few days we have
spent our time talking. I enjoy talking to him, I do so as often as I can. He has also made
me something called 'pancakes', I really enjoy eating those.

Now, like I was saying, my brain is not functioning correctly. Not only can I not repair it but it has been messing up my body. I can still walk and eat and digest but whenever I talk
to Karl my facial plate heats up and my heart rate increases. I also find myself stammering.

This is bothering me.

I've been trying to run scans to find out why my body is doing this but the scan stops when
it reaches my brain.

And while it may bother me I enjoy seeing Karl. This mild discomfort is outweight by my
desire to spend time with him, though at some times it is almost overpoewring.

Any advice?

I doubt moving the brain to a new body would be easy, but if you can it might be good to do. It may complicate things if a second mech is around though, especially if it is also designed to be a "companion". On the other hand, another mech might be able to run a full diagnostic on you that you cannot do for yourself. Is it possible to append some of your own repair systems to fix the other mech? Maybe I am missing something about how you work, but I imagine you could place a portion of your repair mechanism into he hardware, add instructions to her brain to run it, and lend just enough energy to get her started with the repair process.

That's if he wants it repaired, that is. Perhaps it would be enough to access it's mind, and speak with it, perhaps even let it run on your systems temporarily. Communicating with it may do you or Karl some good.

As far as your seeming malfunctions, they cause you to behave just as some human emotions do. I have a theory that some of your errors and problems may be due to emotional simulations that became too complex and too real for your systems to handle. That is, just like a human it is integrated too much into your mind to analyze objectively. I don't think that alone would be a bad thing, but it may be more resource intensive than you were designed for. Rather than repair the parts of your mind that you can't access, how about expanding the parts that do work? Upgrade your memory and processing power, somehow?

And tell Karl he has to man up and cut off your damn leg so you can heal. It is only a temporary pain after all. If he really can't, then have him redefine "bad" as not applying to damaging yourself with the express and immediate purpose of repair, then you should be able to remove your own leg bone to fix it.

The heating and stammering isn't really a great problem. You could tell him that helping you with your leg would actually reduce pain instead of causing it. As it causes continues pain right now, but if he helped you fix it then it would hurt a short while and then you would be fixed.

Your brain is going to be trickier though. Could someone else run an external diagnosis on it?

She already said that removing the bone would be a much better choice than chopping off the leg, and hammering it back into place would be a poor fix.
Besides that, it has less of a psychological impact than amputation thus making it easier for Karl to do it.

Lina, are smooth or jagged cuts easier for you to heal?

Also, Lina, it looks like one of the modifications made to your brain is something that emulates emotion. What kind of horrible person would do that and then sabotage your ability to have sex?

Gather the tools required to remove your leg bone, then corner Karl in a room, pull up your pant leg, and hand him a knife. Tell him that you'd rather have a lot of pain at once than constant pain.

Sorry for the delay. We went on a date.
I asked Karl what it was. His face turned red and he said it is when two people who like each other spend the day together.
we've been spending every day together and I enjoy being around him so I asked if that counted as a date. He said that that's not really it so I asked him to take me on one. He said yes.

>>171865
Thank you for the advice. It helps but I still find myself messing up every now and again.

>>171868
Another companion?
Maybe I should wait until I find out about it's functions before I do anything else with it.

Also Karl has helped me repair my leg. I explained to him that it hurts everyday and he agreed to help me remove it. I lead him through the process then ate the bone. It's now fully functional. Every part of my body is now almost fully repaired.
I have also begun working on upgrading my brain.
I can 'imagine' now. It is hard to explain but I can think about things in a different way now. Instead of just seeing if it is bad or not I can also make up situations that may have nothing to do with the things around me.
I can imagine Karl eating pancakes with me or us watching television.

>>171891
I can not open my skull. That is forbidden.

Back to the date.
Karl said I needed new clothes. I wanted to go with him and he said yes. We spent the day shopping for clothes outside. I haven't been outside before so it was a nice experience.
Karl held my hand as we crossed the street and my heart began beating fast again. I worried that he might hear it.
We began shopping.
I now own three dresses, all white
Three shirts
Three skirts
Three pairs of pants
Socks
A pair of shoes
Several pairs of panties, all white
And more syrup.

The picture I have taken is of me in my new dress.
I like it.

Now that my basic needs are taken care of I can focus on upgrading my Brain which will help me with these new emotion.
I can upgrade my Body which will make me 'age'
I can upgrade my Skills so I can perform more complicated tasks
Or I could focus on trying to repair whatever has been done to my brain

Any advice on emotions or upgrading will be most welcome.

Bye

Repair your brain. The note said you could explode, so that needs to be resolved first.
After that, upgrade your brain. You need emotional maturity before you can handle a matured body, and keeping this body will help keep things stable between you and Karl.

Then you can upgrade your body.

After that upgrade your skills, since you would have to do a bit of relearning if you learned those before your body upgrade.

I thought you said you couldn't repair your brain? You shouldn't try to. Not yet anyway. Until we find out exactly what's in there that's not 'normal' you shouldn't try to force it.

Focus on upgrading your brain first and foremost, then your skills and body equally.

Also, ask Karl what the function of the droid was. You can decide after that whether or not you want to repair it for him.

Upgrading the brain for the purpose of repairing the damage is important, but don't make changes until you know the nature of the damage. Focus on analysis. Don't want to accidentally trigger something bad from trying to repair it.

Do you know the limits of what you can't do right now? I know you said you can't have "sex", is that restriction broad enough to include kissing of any sort? Or anything like sex but not including overtly sexual regions such as your groin?

I ask this because knowing whether its triggers are local to certain areas, only physical, or even emotionally related is important.

Skills after body, as the body modifies skills. There will be a period of adjustment once she upgrades her 'age', and that will throw her skills off and require that they be readjusted.
If she waits until after her body develops then she can develop her skills in her new body and have an easier learning curve.

Besides, once she has the emotional maturity she needs it would be best to develop her body quickly afterward.

As far as the tampering goes, attempt to fix it if you determine it is safe to do so.

You are an idiot.

The human brain is an electrochemical computer, not magic. With a powerful enough computer and enough memory you can create an accurate copy of a human brain on silicon.
Short version? Humans ain't no thang.

You've already admitted that she has feelings and emotions, so does it really matter if she's actually feeling love or if it's a simulated emotion?
Now, with that in mind, does it matter if you piss on the emotions she believes she has?

She does feel love, and she loves you. If you can't accept that, then at least don't abuse her like this.

Best thing to do is something the both of you will enjoy. Ask her more about what she likes.

That's...
A really good idea.
See if there's anyplace showing something by Hayao Miyazaki.
Ponyo, Spirited Away, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, or Howl's Moving Castle would be best.
Either that, or you should hold off on the movie for the second date, and take her to a pancake house for breakfast, then a walk in the park for the morning capped by a nice picnic for lunch, and after that a bit more in the park before the end. Either way, hold her hand in the movie or during the walk in the park.

Well, it seems important to her to have a "real date", just a nice walk isn't going to cut it. She wants something special, that shows she's being accepted as a real person. Well, I said a walk because it nice and relaxed, and gives them a chance to talk. Movie is a good second date, but not first. You need to talk on the first date, so dinner and someplace nice is good for that.
However, since Lina's favorite food is syrup, pancakes would be the ideal "dinner", and IHOP is nifty and awesome, but doesn't lend itself to romance, leaving us with a breakfast, meaning nice Diner. Best bet is go on Friday at nine, then a trip to a museum(Maybe, she might be bored at a history or art museum, and a science museum would get weird), Aquarium, Zoo, or just park. All of these are good places to walk and talk, the trick is to find what appeals to her the most. I used park because it's quiet, and there aren't too many other people which is the problem with Zoo or Aquarium.
Second date, though, should be dinner and a movie.

My advice? Remember that she's a real person, and treat her as such.

you know, you can pull of the stereotypical and unoriginal yawn and stretch. It may be unoriginal, but she's probably expecting it (considering she's learned all she could from the internet)

Then just talk. Try to focus the conversation on her. Try to keep her talking, and you keep listening. People tend to like it when there's an interest in them, and questions show that. Keep questions... broad... and not specific to things that may be bad.

First: Her emotions are real.
Second: "People can love each other without loving everything about them, so some people are in love but don't spend much time around each other. There are many different levels in a relationship, and the closer you become the more comfortable you are with the deeper levels."
Third: Figure out how you feel about her. If her being synthetic is a problem, then imagine how you would feel if she were flesh and blood; respond to her that way.
Forth: Continue the date. A walk in the park seems like it would be something she would like; she seems to like new experiences, and she's never been to a park before.

>You guys so called it.

>So we watched the movie through and she loved every second of it. When we left she went on and on about it and she was so excited.

>And while I was watching her describe I was thinking there's no way they could program reactions like this. These feelings are genuine.. I think.

>Anyway we went to the park for a bit and I asked her what she wanted to do.
>She looked down at her hand and asked
"Can we... Hold hands..?"

>How could I say no? I held her hand in mind and we continued out little walk. she seemed to be in bliss the whole time and he little hand held onto mine gently.

>We walked and talked for so long I didn't even notice it getting late.
>It was night time before and we decided to sit down. Then she asked me

"Karl... Can I.. I.. I want to..."

>"Yes?"

"I have read that when a couple goes out they press their lips together to show their feelings for each other. It is called a Kiss. I want to experience it. Please."

>The way she looked at me.. I couldn't help it you know?

>We had out first kiss.

>She didn't say much after that. She just sat there thinking. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

>Then she looked at me, smiled and said "Let's go home"

>I'm... I'm really confused here. I need some time to think about these things. About Zerlina.
>I'm giving the iPhone to her tonight so if you guys wanna ask her things or talk to her you can now.

No explosions? oh, good.

Hiya, Z! We missed talking to you! How was the date? Do you feel better? We figured out Karl's problem, he's as dense as a rock. Be as up front as possible from now on, but not demanding. Tell him what you want. If you're roundabout he simply won't understand you.

Also, there might've been a guy following you... does that ping anything in your memory?

I think you should start growing now, and match how old Karl looks. That way he won't feel so conflicted about these things.

Now I think that you should give her some time to think things through and then apporaach her and just talk. Bring up the kiss and ask her if she wants to develop more of an emotional relationship. If she feeling are news then try to explain to her about these feelings and try to see how things go.
Remember to take your time.

The date was amazing and I really enjoyed myself.

Less a lie, more using language tricks to get out of an awkward situation. As we said there are many levels of love, but 'the next level' generally carries the connotation of sex.
He didn't want you to think he was suggesting that you two have sex, so he backpedaled a bit.

We believe he is falling in love with you, which means now is an excellent time for you to grow so that your apparent age matches his. This will make him far more comfortable expressing his feelings for you.

On a related note, we believe that you are outfitted with a cortex bomb which will trigger either if something enters your vagina or if the part of your brain associated with sexual pleasure is stimulated.
Analyze your vagina - the pink unit in the picture - and if you find that it has been tampered with then remove the unit and rebuild it from scratch. Because your torso is designed to open you should be able to do this without Karl's aid.

This is important in the long term due to how important sex is to human relations. Eventually you will both share a desire to have sex, and so we must now begin removing any danger that may pose.
Continue to analyze your brain to determine what has been altered.

Interesting symbol. That's on other parts of you as well; it must have something to do with whoever made you. Can you detach it so that it can be inspected more closely by you and Karl and... well, anyone he can find that's trustworthy and knows about robots?

Then put everything back before you run out of energy dampening the pain.

Hey, you said that you don't like it when other people touch your hair, and I can understand why that would be the case... but you don't like touching your hair yourself? That doesn't make any sense. If you liked your hair, and didn't want anyone else to mess it up, it seems like you'd want to admire it yourself, which means touching it.

Can you remove your hair somehow without touching it? I think this could be important.

It will take a full day to completely grow back to it's prior state.
I examined my old one. There are several new wires leading up to the opening. They all travel to the main wires which connect to my brain. They were also attached to various other parts.
Touching any of these parts repeatedly or with enough force would have set something off within me.

I say we should NOT have Karl at the house. You're very durable, right? He would be in more danger than you, so get a solid weapon like a lead pipe or aluminum baseball bat and keep it within arm's reach while you speak with her. I don't actually think she's going to attack you but it is possible.

You can tell Karl all about it but he needs to know that your sister could be dangerous. You can repair yourself easily and recover from massive damage, but Karl would need to go to the hospital if he was damaged internally.

I also believe she was hosting the site. For what purposes I do not know.
Maybe she knew one day I would find it and she would be able to contact me. But then how long has she been waiting?

I told Karl about the meeting, he seemed to be rather happy to meet someone else like me. To be safe though I have him seated further to the back.
If need be I will give my life to protect him.

We wait til the stated time. At exactly 9 AM there is a soft knock at the door.
I opened it and there stood my little sister.

I have taken a picture. Her body is in severe disrepair and in need of immediate reconstruction.
Several of her organs are missing and she seems to be relying on a breathing tube for life support. It makes a rasping noise with each breath suggesting that even this tube is not sufficient.
Her arm and leg are both gone. I have no idea where she's even getting energy from.
Several modifications seem to have been made to her face which include removing the bottom jaw.
It is a sad sight.

She smiles but seems unable to speak. If her speakers are where mine are they are most likely removed.

I can sense Karl is shocked by this sight as well.

Hug her, then get her a pen and pencil.
The most important questions are the ones we asked about the bombs and Karl's involvement.
After that you need to find out how you can help her with repairs.
If she just needs metabolized resources to rebuild herself then you can help there. If she needs organs, then you might be able to give her yours; fill your sacks with everything you need to replace your digestive stomach, give her yours, and grow a new one. Hopefully that would give her enough of a start to rebuild herself on her own.

Holy crap. Can you give her some of your parts, then regrow yours? Your nanobot factory is fully operational, so you can repair yourself. Obviously, hers is not. Get her a keyboard and start up Notepad or something so she can communicate. I think those things coming out of her mouth are manipulators.

Ask her if she has a companion. Small talk is good to start with, and you might learn something important.

Agreed, give the poor thing a hug before anything else.

>>205046
...A careful hug. If she starts to make a motion away from you respect her space.

I'm afraid we are two different models. If I try to put my pieces in her as they are her body will use a lot of energy trying to destroy it, if it can that is. If it can not it would be like putting a AAA battery in a AA slot.

The most I can do at the moment is comfort her. A hug brings a smile to her face, or rather, her eye.
I showed her were she could take a seat. I noticed the arm that is not destroyed is missing it's hand, replaced by a claw of sorts.

>>205174
That gave me an idea. I hooked up normal speakers to her as best as I could. When she spoke she made odd clicks and other sounds. It only added to her already destroyed image.

An awkward silence took hold as well all just sat there and stared at one another. Karl broke the ice.

"So.... You're Zerlina's sister right?"

"Kkkk you mean 1A ccorrect? Yes. I am her little sister."

"Uhm.... So she told me you were going to explain all this. Why she's here, about the bombs, and most importantly what happened to you."

"Kkkk Ah yes. Please foggggive me. I forgot for a se-Do you have an outlet?"

"Huh? Uhm yes, by the wall"

She nodded and opened up her ear. From within she pulled out a plug.

"kkkk I'm afraid I'm almost out of power. I need to recharge for an hour or so."

She then went and laid down on the floor. She reached into her stomach and pulled out a small stuffed animal, it is cat shaped and looks rather worn.

"You don't need to lay on the floor"
>"Yes, you can take my bed sister"

"....... You two are very kind. the floor will do. I must sleep"

And with that she plugged herself in and shut down.
We have an hour or so until she wakes up. is there anyone you want to switch with or shall I continue posting?

Keep posting.
Also, an AAA battery is the same voltage as a AA, so in a pinch they'll work as long as the draw isn't too high. The idea is worth considering if your systems are even remotely compatible; her repair systems are inoperable, so she is incapable of attempting to destroy foreign objects. She cannot spend energy to do something if the energy consuming tool is not available.
Ask Karl to say how he feels about this whole mess.

I'm thinking we should talk to Karl. I want to ask about the robot under his bed.
>>
No. 205310 ID: 40cb26

We should talk to Karl for a bit, I think. Take us back after she wakes up though, so we can help you through all that.

>>205273
I think it doesn't work like that at all. Zerlinas repair bits would try to recreate the parts belonging to Zerlina and consume 1D in the process. We would have to redesign or create anew her own repair system somehow, and I really don't see that happening.

>>205276
This reminds me... Karl, if it is possible might you be willing to reappropriate the old robot you have? We understand it has some sort sentimental value and you didn't want it destroyed but if we can replace the old hard drive with 1D... well, it would be them bringing new life to each other. And I get the feeling this poor girl really deserves that.

If she can't be repaired any other way, just consider it alright?

Please remember that the chatlogs might indicate she doesn't consider at least parts of her body "abnormal," like her mouth. The symbol on her shirt does indicate a connection of some sort to whoever put that device inside Lina, and 1D's shirt isn't damaged, which, compared to the rest of her, means she probably had contact with them post-damage. Yet, she isn't repaired. If <.> has the ability to implant devices/organs inside Lina, they almost certainly have the know-how to repair her, or let her repair herself.

Therefore, it's highly likely she's kept damaged for a reason. Perhaps she's mentally disturbed. Perhaps it was punishment for defying <.> somehow. Perhaps "repair" is "forbidden" to her.

No matter what, though, it smells like trouble. But she doesn't seem highly hostile...for now.

I recommend caution, and definitely more information before we do any crazy plans to repair her. She's functional, and she can talk. For now, that is enough.

>Hey guys it's me again. So I read some of your suggestions and talked to Lina about using my old droid.

>She was... Special to me. But I think Lina's sister needs her body more. I still need a name for her, 1D seems a little weird.

>Anyway when she got up she asked us for a piece of paper and a pen. I only had a crayon on hand but anyway she used it to draw out this pic. She pointed to each one and said they were the first 4 to be made, the first four sisters.

>She said each of them were built for a purpose but even she doesn't know what it is.

>All she knows is that Zerlina is the first one and the only one who can easily modify her appearance.
>She also said the reason why she looks all broken up, the blades in her mouth have always been there but they were concealable. She lost her lower jaw in the same incident that cost her most of her body.
>She said one day these men stormed where she was living and attacked she. When they were done tearing her to pieces she shut down and pretended to die.
>The men left and she woke up and began rebuilding herself. Beyond that she has no memory.

>I'm posting the picture she drew for you guys.
>I think I may have walked into something pretty big here... I'm ending the thread but please post and suggestions you have and who I should give the phone to at the start of the next one.

>Thanks again, bye.

Backup the contents of the Droid's mind. Then you can restore her to a real body or emulate her on your computer.

The droid doesn't have enough computational power to run 1D's gestalt, so she'll need to use it as a WALDO package.

Eh? How do you know? The old droid could have a ton of processing power, and 1D's programming could just be more advanced- not bigger or harder to run.

If 1A thinks that the body swap would work, then do it. Granted, we need to repair the droid first so that it works properly.

Oh yeah and as for the name... how about Wendy? Hand the phone over to her, if you can. We'd like to ask her about how she was using the site and stuff.

sounds like a plan. she would probably need to leave most of the programs back in her head. any systems that the droid doesn't have would be unneeded. such as her repair program would be useless in the droid body.

and yeah you are in rather deep. but you were in it the day lina showed up so doubt you could of backed out even if you wanted to.

I think you might want to try and go into hiding really soon.

Your life is going to get utterly wrecked within months, probably weeks, and possibly days.

I vote for giving it to 1A, this might be too much for 1D to handle at first.
>>
No. 206049 ID: 701a19

Why are you people calling her 1A?
She has a name! Use it!

I'm in favor of handing 1D the phone, after you show us what you look like.

Zerlina, check your designs for explosives. It might be that there are supposed to be some, in which case a diagnostic wouldn't report any abnormalities.

ohshi---

KARL.
ZERLINA IS A WEAPON.
Wendy may be able to help you disarm her. But do not, repeat, do NOT, have any sexual interactions with her. Kissing is safe. NOTHING more. Her schematics include explosives. In order to remove them permanently they must be removed from her schematics and permitted to be destroyed as foreign. The reason she was all fucked up? SHE'S BEEN USED ONCE ALREADY.

Zerlina:
Affectionate contact with Karl will endanger Karl. Refrain from all affectionate contact eg dating, holding hands, kissing, until further notice. In fact, let's be safe: all non-maintenance contact with Karl is FORBIDDEN until the bombs are permanently removed from your systems.

>SHE'S BEEN USED ONCE ALREADY.
That's not true, her captors just blew up her leg when she tried to escape.

>other stuff directed at Zerlina
Hey cut that out, we've already established that there are very specific triggers for her bombs. She is perfectly safe so long as she avoids sex (and possibly heavy petting though there's no evidence for that)

Also, check the questdis for more, very plot-relevant info: >>/questdis/330193

Oh, HELL, the more I think about this the worse it gets.

Karl, you are in possession of a murder weapon and are probably being framed. Google. Who was she used to kill? You should probably pay the cops a visit, file a full report, and request witness protection and, in light of the special circumstances, access to this particular piece of impounded evidence.

Karl, that box had a robot girl and a METRIC ASSLOAD of trouble in it. I don't know where shit will go from here. But I hope Zerlina gets repaired and is not brought to harm by the legal system. I know it will be worth the trouble to have her as a companion.
