Nonessential staff was put into cryosleep during the week-long trip to save supplies and out of convenience. Now, the crew is being roused back up to defend the convoy.

With the help of your manuals, you can repair just about anything on this ship. Certain parts can be fixed as they are now, while others need to be outright replaced. Most things, however, need certain tools. That generator for example, requires that you find a refill cartridge for you suit's chemical enhancer injectors so you can put it back in its chamber.

Alternatively, you can engage the irreversible disassembly module to render the ship into usable parts for a shelter. You will lose certain functions forever, but you will at least have a large amount of resources.

You squeeze past the generator a bit to hook the backup engine to the life support's thermostat module. However, as the generator is down, you have to use 1 of your 2 Power Cells to keep it going. It's not meant for this, so you don't know how long it will take to deplete.
