Behind me the city of Resad burns. It's citizens have no chance of escape, not with the walls I made.

Soon their bodies will be nothing but ash strewn across a barren land.
God I love being alive.

Sure this violence may have been a bit... Excessive.
But to get my hands on Item 7 it was so worth it.

Only 200 more to go...

A 'clean getaway' doesn't include burning people to ashes. I don't care if you kill them or destroy the town. Leave the corpses alone. If they're important, someone will come and revive them. Ashes cannot be revived.

>>207345
My name is Gram Elric and I'm a golem. I was created by a Dark Witch named Aara to serve her for the rest of her life.
I didn't like that. So when her concentration slipped and the hold on my mind wavered I killed her in her sleep.
This was rather foolish of me, turns out I needed her magic to live. I spent the next few days waiting for my death but then I stumbled upon something, it was Item 141. With it on I gained the magical energy I needed to stay alive. I looked through my old masters library for more info on these Items. They used to be like the pieces of some powerful being or something that were scattered. Whoever gets all 207 of them is granted immense power to rule over all.
Since then I've been trying to get all of them and now with Item 7 it'll be a lot easier.

>>207347
Items 96 and 97 are Junk Class Items. They do nothing on their own.
Item 25 is able to protect me somewhat from magical blasts.
Item 10 can shoot and absorb fire and heat.
and I'm not sure what the book does. I stole it from this one dude a few years ago but it has a Trial on it and I don't wanna go though it right now.

Basically? Yea, you do.
Of course, in this case it was in your best interests to NOT start killing people. If Resad had burned to the ground then the Royal Army Mages would have investigated, and part of that investigation would be summoning the souls of the dead to find out who did it. After that they would track you down to the ends of the world and beyond.
Now, though? Property damage and maybe a few casualties. They won't follow you off the continent for that.
Now that the fire is out you can head towards the next item.

How does the charge system work? How are they replenished?

Ok, let me make a note here...

Likes... to... do... things... that... will... get... him... killed. Now I'll just underline that a few times... Ok, there we go.
Sure, go ahead and murder somebody in the capital city. I mean, it's not like the king has spells in place to detect deaths and immediately send a squad of Royal Army Mages to resolve the situation. And it's not like they're on high alert following somebody launching an attack on one of the kingdom's largest cities.
And it's not like that symbol you can't identify on his robe means something important that you don't comprehend.
Yea, sure, go ahead.
>>
No. 207394 ID: c2c011

>>207392
Sure, rip out his fucking larynx and watch as he dies while drowning in his own blood. After you have made sure he's someone you can take down that is, and that he's not an important person. Tracking down stuff gets annoying if there are large amounts of people chasing you because you killed the spoiled brat of some noble or something.

So, gather some intel first. Start by grabbing some random stranger on the street and ask them if they know who that guy is. If they do know chances are he's not someone you can just kill and get away with it. If they don't know then the chances of him being someone you can kill goes up, have to do some more research first though before you can verify that. So follow him and see what he does.

Oh boy, I bet he thinks your homo-erotically interested in him now! If you get caught following him it's going to be not only embarrassing but creep him the fuck out. He's also hilariously deadpan. His weakness is either woman, knowledge, or business. You have to offer him something now, like your pretending that you noticed the necklace as a prized artifact and desire to trade him another artifact. It's a ruse of course, you won't give him shit, but you can't follow him home without him noticing unless your a master of stealth.

The best deceptions always carry a bit of truth in them.

Killing is the last resort, unless you're trying to get yourself destroyed. Sorta counter productive, you think? Trust me you aren't as tough as you think. That guy might be a pretty damn powerful mage for all you know.

Dark Elf settlement, the divide, and the mermaid lakes.
Since they're all more than a day's travel, you had better spend the next two days researching the political landscape. Who is in charge where, who are the major players, who is capable of killing you with a thought, what conflicts are in play, that sort of thing.

Stay in central for now, There are likely more items here even if you can't detect them yet. I mean it is pretty damn big. Find out about the strong, wealthy and influential, they're the sorts who would have them. This will save you time and trouble when the detector inevitably leads you back here.

Even if you don't find a sign of one here though you might be able to accomplish something. Find out more about the world and it's places and people, tales of the items are sure to pop up.

Who's in charge around here anyway?

Gram travels Central. It is late out but there are still people around. He goes into what appears to be the poorer side of it and begins talking to people.

From what I gather the king of all the humans lives in this city. Name's Rai. They say that the whole land was plauged by some bad guy named Dart but a few years ago some pretty boy kicked his ass with Rai's help. Gram grins but then notices something.

The man is still there.

He turns to Gram and from his back sprouts two wing shaped hangs. Each hand looks like it could easily wrap around Gram.
With a sickening snap another longer arm seems to come from the back of his neck.

Gram takes a step back

I know who he is.... that's The Collector.... He's a Item Hunter of legend, a beast who was once a human... He doesn't keep them though, just returns them to their old locations. Still... Gram turns and runs as fast as he can.
The Collector takes chase and flies after Gram at inedible speeds. He catches up almost immediatly and punches Gram. The impact sends Gram flying into the wall, as he hits it he hears something crack inside. The Collector moves in closer, his back arm stretches out.
Gram holds up his arm.

"Please stop! You can have the Items!"

The Collector doesn't seem to hear him and moves closer still

"Stop!"

With that Item 7 shoots out and slams into The Collector with enough force to knock his head clean off. The head slams into his arm and tears it off as well.
The head lays on the ground and begins wailing in pain. If Gram had humans ears they would be bleeding.

Woah... I didn't know you guys could do that..

We know a bit about this particular item.
Tell him you know more about these items than most, and ask him if it was part of the item's trial.
If it was, then tell him that it was the keeper putting on an act meant to torment the holder of the item, and that if he had healed her then the keeper would have tormented him in the real world until either he died or somebody else passed the trial the way he did.

Yes, you are providing him with comfort. This is the best way to get the item, because if he chooses to give it to you of his own free will then you won't draw even a tiny bit of attention.
If he doesn't want to give you the Item then we'll come back for it some other time. We can track it easily enough, and you don't want to waste your anonymity stealing Items that don't advance your quest.

Gram goes to get a better look at the child.
It's a girl from what he can tell. She's shivering heavily and is trying her best to keep the blanket she has wrapped around herself.
She whimpers and calls for her parents.
Every once in a while she shakes her head back and forth as though to get rid of some unseen monster.
A note appears.

The trial is to take her blanket. So, take it. Just in case this is a test of compassion, tell her something like. "I know you aren't really hurt. If you were, maybe you would deserve help. Or maybe I'm wrong, but you're going to have to get up and do something about that yourself."

Out of curiosity, do you care at all? Is there a single artificial heart string in you being pulled?

People don't deserve the life they have..

He rips the blanket off the child. She makes a small noise but before she can say anything else Gram kicks her into the air"

"[Kill]"

[i]Item 7 pierces the girl and kills her almost instantly.
The world around him seems to melt away and soon he is back in the Real World with Item 21 in his hand.

Item 21 is filled with a healing liquid that can restore almost any wound. It can not bring back souls but it can restore a body back to it's original self. Two of the same bodies can not exist on the same plane.
If the liquid runs out you can fill it with clear water to restore it.

Fai's too far.
You should probably ask Teri to join your quest, but since a magi is a lot more powerful than a mage you should ask Cecil if he could give you any help.
Since bringing your mistress back to life doesn't require any adventuring he might be willing to look into that for you.

If not, then at least you can leech some power out of him right?

Keep that piece on you at all times. If something goes wrong, then try to find somebody heading to the Dark-Elf settlement south of here. If you can make it there then ask to meet with their queen, and tell her your tale. She is a kind and compassionate woman, and will help you.

Let Su carry the staff for now, it'll help her get around a little and you don't have enough hands for it anyway. If you need to amplify item six you can just grab it, if it's a dangerous situation she is just going to drop it and hide anyways.

You could let her hold item 6 too, sometimes. Shooting things isn't really useful for the blind, but pulling Items can work out very well.

>"Hello little lady, interested in a game?"

"What kind of game?"

>"It's simple, all you gotta do is follow the queen. I'll put her and two other cards on the table and if you pick her you win."

"And the prize?"

>"Well if ya enter 10G I'll double it if you win. and if you enter 500G you get this nifty Item here."

Don't think for a minute that he is going to play fair. The fact that the item is a giant golden die indicates it's powers could easily be used to manipulate the game. Ask him what number it is and it's powers.

...and are we sure the Item we want is the one under glass, and not the thing behind him?

Try out a ten gold game. He may just be using the low betting losses to drive you into a false sense of security though. He probably makes a lot of money from people trying for the item.

We might consider telling him about Gram too, but maybe not right away. Gram can't use his gauntlet to detect this item but he can still easily find it.

This is a street hustler. They use slight of hand to ensure that they can never lose - in this game it works by swapping the winning card with another losing card so that all three options are losers.
The woman you saw was in on the scam. He lets her win so people don't think the game is rigged, but when they leave they're going to be redividing all the cash anyway.

Normally, there's a simple way to win if he cheats; just follow the queen to see where it goes. Then when it's time to pick which card you slam your hands down on the cards you don't want and call the third. When you flip the cards you'll show two losing cards, forcing him to either say you won or revealing to the onlookers that he's cheating.

In this case, however, I think the Item works in his favor. He doesn't need to use dirty tricks if he's got an Item that makes it so that nobody can win unless he wants them to.

Well, spend the 500g and use the normal counter-cheating method I described above.

He's dead.. I should have made the land a little softer. Ah well, I have these revival feathers.

she loots the body and gains back the gold she lost plus 200 more gold. She also takes a golden die that was hanging around his neck.

It would appear that 'this' is the true Item. If I had won back there all I would have gotten was a shiny trinket.

She drops the mans body off at a local police station with a phoenix down.

Item 194 the Lucky Dice. Can be used to win any game the wearer partakes in no matter what. All gambles will be in the wearers favor. However, when used against someone who is aware of it's effects they may negate them if they have strong enough will. A useful Item indeed, and no Trial either.

You're quite mistaken; blind people are capable of functioning on their own. It takes more training and practice for them to reach that point, but it's far from impossible.

Besides that? You don't seem to understand the concepts of cooperation, symbiosis, and fair trade. You have something somebody wants, they have something you want, so you exchange what you have for what you want.
This extends past immediate gains; if you help somebody, then if they are able to repay that help in the future they most likely will. The same applies for causing harm; if you cause suffering, then the people who you caused to suffer will attempt to repay that suffering.

Beyond that, you have meta-transactions; if you help a lot of people, then people you haven't helped before will be more likely to help you, while people who harm others are hunted down and punished.
This is the basis of society and law; those who are of net benefit to the group are rewarded, those who are of net detriment to the group are punished or removed.

Even if you don't want to be benevolent for the sake of others, it's in your best interests to do so in general. At the very least you should provide aid when the cost of doing so is low.

Here, I can show you. Is there a hospital or clinic in the area? Go there and heal people with Item 21. You have nothing better to do, so the cost of this is negligible.
Don't ask for payment. In fact, don't say a word. Just sprinkle them with some healing water and move on.

Watch what happens.

@Su
That much magic in a person is... concerning. For good or ill, he can't be a random passerby and must be potentially dangerous. An old man with a staff was asking for you at the hotel, and this is probably him. Tell him you're waiting for someone and you just wandered a bit, but they'll be here soon so no reason to worry.

@Gram
She's ok but someone has approached her just now, and to Su his entire body is lit up with magic like a bonfire so for fucks sake if you find them don't go in aggressively. You need to make an effort to seem like a perfectly nice guy who cares about Su.

Now then, can the necklace detect her items or do we need to get her to loose an Item?

Putting her on a leash will just get people attacking you left and right trying to free her. You just need to keep her close and don't upset her any more. Anyways, this "Mr. Blue" says he's going to guide her back to the city, we'll see if he really is.

The staff would be ok to loose, but too obvious. Item 6 would be easier but it's too important. Dammit she needs to carry around some junk items just for this purpose.

@Su
Hopefully he really is doing that... make some small talk, ask what he looks like. Can you see the city at all? I'd expect plenty of at least faint magic to be there. If he notices you "seeing" things just tell him you have a very weak and blurry vision.

The fucker restored her vision, but now is forcing her to either be his slave or he'll kill her and eat her eyes! She's was going to try to use Item 6 to defend herself, but he has Item 57 that negates other items. We'll do what we can while you try and find her. They walked away from town, probably in the direction from the nearest exit from the hotel.

Maybe our power can help you get to her. Even if we can't tell you where she is, our connection to her might suffice. RUN to her location quickly!

@Su
Drop that staff before anything else, Gram may be able to track it. All you have to do now is delay. Ask him what he did to your vision, and why he wants your eyes. We don't know what swearing allegiance means here, it may be just words or you'd become a sort of mind slave. I doubt this person has much compassion, but ask him to let you look around for a while first. Say you'll swear after you enjoy it a little. He clearly isn't worried and might humor you, that would buy us more time.

Remember, he's really REALLY bad with people and isn't used to caring for anyone. He is literally ignorant of everything about it... He did save you though, and he was upset even if he won't admit it, so he is learning a bit at a time. Try not to be upset with him when he's mean or stupid, and try to teach him how to be a good person.

Also, one or both of your eyes are a magic item, that's why the bad man wanted you. It's also why you could see normally for a moment, he shut it off. If you want to be free of that item, it can be done... we can remove it and heal the wound, regrow your natural eyes. If and when that happens is your decision though.

have a large number of options available. just tell us what you want and we will make it so. could simply pop those ones out and replace them with glass ones. would feel like you still have your eyes and they will still be blind.

Mu steps into the room. She sees Teri laying on the bed moving around and moaning in discomfort. She's sweating and shivering heavily and next to her is their bag, around it are a few crumbs.

She doesn't even notice me standing here.

"Teri, are you okay?"

She goes up to her and touches her

She's shaking badly.

"Teri? Teri speak to me."

Oh, great, she's in withdrawal. I don't know the legal status of this drug, so I can't suggest going and buying some.
Unless you're less than an hour away from Cecil's place you'll need to take her to a hospital.

I don't mean 'soon', I mean now.

She's calling for that drug, she may actually need it or be going through withdrawls, but before anything else try and use the Dark Elf Crystal on her. The dew drops must help her deal with the pain, after using the crystal get her some. Addicted or not she still needs it to function for now.

"Teri, I really think you should see a doctor."

Teri springs up and grabs Mu by the collar

>"I said buy me some or by the gods I will take you apart."

I could probably just force her to the hospital... But I also have the money to buy her more.

Paper is cheap, get enough to make you body from it then you can take on a job that has more risk but better pay.

If that paper exists, your Master should have made you from it in the first place. Also, ask for information of the legendary indestructible paper. It at first sounds like a joke but be prepared to be fucking surprised that such a legendary thing exists. Some simple sticks probably kick ass, especially thinks like diamond sticks. Joke items are the bees knees.

The jobs are
Babysitting- Take care of our children for a day.
Pest removal-There's been a swarm of Lua's trying to take our things. We need them taken care of.
Healing-We need a healing mage to help us out!
