Omaig, I can't believe I'm finally in one of these things- I'm ecstatic but at the same time, I'm not sure if I can do this ! The Cores choose the pilot, and the Labcoats say this one that's chosen me is legendary .. I've never done this before, and I don't even know how to begin; the responsibility is incredible but for the Highness I will go above and beyond !

I have you, my integrated infopathic GHOST, to guide me ! Now .. how do I even turn this thing on ?

INFOPATHIC CONTEST. Recommend an Armor.

Hornet. Higher energy and response. Overheats quickly.
Argent. Lower energy. Immune to small arms.
(Custom armor possible by establishing Core performance.)

Recommend Systems Loadout.

PRIMARY
Rifle Slug
Heavy Mortar
Crash Bomb

SECONDARY
Storm Autogun
Dart Missiles
Thermal Lance, Energy Sink

SPECIAL
Stealth Suite, Energy Sink
Vision Suite, Energy Sink
Flood Coolant

(Custom systems possible later.)

Recommend a Mission Accomodation. (Request insertion point, softening battery, agents, weather and visibility conditions, etc.)

Compound assault. Locations : Power Station, Radar / Control Tower, Barracks / Armory, and Command / Research Compound. Power Station and Radar / Control Tower protected by Heavy Guns. Barracks / Armory re-arming and recharging medium ground forces. Command / Research Compound protected by Heavy Guns and Reinforced Wall, entire environment protected by Air Patrol, agents may reveal additional defenses and details.

Go for the power station; Night-time insertion, preferably under cold and wet conditions to maximize your Hornet's operation time. During a storm would be best as the rain will drown out most of the sound you'll make, and reduce the effectiveness of their air superiority.

Argent Rifle Slug/Dart missile.
If my AC days are correct, this should make a fairly balanced design.
Taking out the Armory should reduce the supplies the enemy has, for without ammunition, soldiers cannot fight. Plus, we might be able to steal/salvage some weaponry from their stores.

Armor : Hornet
Primary : Rifle Slug
Secondary : Thermal Lance
Special : Vision Suite

Her Highness decided against sending agents to gather additional intelligence. The commanders agreed, as there would be grave complications should they fail and be captured. She did approve a request to hold the operation until stormy, low visibility conditions. This however, enabled the enemy to build ground forces to greater strengths. I'm to be inserted in position to take out the Power Station, hopefully to the effect of greatly weakening enemy capability. The Flood Coolant system was highly recommended for this Hornet Armor, but the decision fell finally to the Vision Suite to accommodate the low visibility.

The pretty bright blue button is covered by a guard plate and when I press it, a loud buzzing alarm fills the cockpit. Some of the soldiers laugh and a Labcoat asks why I'm trying to eject before fuel flow and ignition, let alone before the assault.

My sobbing on camera for all the commanders to see is not raising any confidence, but the operation begins in moments and I'm briefed a little more. Thanks to the weather, I can worry less about overheating and enemy air superiority. But, as long as the Radar / Control Tower is operational, the enemy air strikes and Heavy Guns are capable of expert targeting.

A commander wishes me good hunting and I am sent off. It's just you and me now, GHOST.

Eliminating this current location, the shuffling thermal blips from the Barracks / Armory, and the large Command / Research Compound, a tall spire is with little doubt the Radar / Control Tower. I lay waste to the Power Station and begin the trip there full speed.

I can't avoid being taking damage escaping the mess of anti-armor, though I arrive sooner than expected. All the while I'm being spotted by foot soldiers who just seemingly appear out of nowhere. They spread out and keep their distance, taking advantage of my offensive load-out.

I arrive to designate one of the Radar / Control Tower's Heavy Guns and switch to MODE THERMAL. It's clear where the foot soldiers are attacking from now and an alarm warns me of an enemy Armor approaching !

I can attack the Radar / Control Tower, but I'm going to come under a lot of fire. Another option would be to engage the enemy Armor away from the soldiers and Heavy Guns. The air strike warning raises in pitch. I'm not sure what to do !

Don't worry about foot soldiers at this stage. If worst comes to worst, you can crush them underfoot. The armour is your prime concern.

Presuming that they have fear of friendly fire, try to get yourself between the foot soldiers and the armour, that way the armour may not be able to constantly attack, as well as potentially shaking the morale of the lesser enemies.

I'm taking it all on ! I move in and slug the Radar / Control Tower. One more hit and it's gone for good, along with precise Heavy Gun tracking and air strikes. The Armor fires some missiles and moves in closer when I dodge them. It backs off immediately after being doused in Thermal Lance flame.

I'm between a gun, an imminent air strike and a hard place !

I guess I am taking this rather well- I wasn't told who these forces belong to ! I hope there's nobody I know here ..

I demolish the radar and get out of there. The Heavy Gun doesn't fire as I escape, I think that's the end of automatic tracking !

The alarm stops and there is a thunderous rattle. Bright signatures dot the air as two strings of explosions pass. I dodge the first, but a tip of the second hits square. The enemy Armor chooses a bad time to fire missiles as they both miss.

What should my next objective be ? Should I slug the Armor, rush it with the lance, or slip around it ?

Ok, the enemy Armor is retreating and not firing either. I suppose its waiting for a visual report, realizing the odds against my vision modes and having lost assisted targeting. MODE THERMAL reveals another mess of anti-armor. I can run through it to catch up and take out the Armor right now, but they will definitely get some shots off.

I need to decide what my next objective is. I can take on the Command / Research Compound now that the Heavy Guns are short-sighted, but destroying the Barracks / Armory might have some benefit ..

Take out the Armory first. It should be a quick and easy job since everything in there is designed to explode in some fashion, you could possibly find something in there you could use, and it ensures that any enemy armor won't have a place to re-arm and refuel. It makes the whole rest of the job that much easier to finish; plus it could have a pretty huge effect on enemy morale.

Just past here is the armory. It's hard to discriminate structures in this vision mode, but it's much too big to be any kind of barracks.

Judging from previous encounters, these anti-armor haven't spotted me yet but they will if I don't pull back.

Do I attack the ground forces or go straight for the structures ? I might scout around for a better opening, but they might be little better if not worse than this ..
>>
No. 356055 ID: e75a2f

Look for better openings. Regardless of what happens you're going to have to start taking out some anti-armor, so there really is no worse scenario than this short of more force, and they will not be able to mobilize that quickly.
