This is the very, VERY important part: Does the host of a god need to be ALIVE? I figured that a god could only possessing for a bit, but a dead body would likely have no resistance.

My theory; The prince is in the tower, he is very likely going to be sacrificed for the god of law, and chances are his royal blood which connects him to the land is not only going to empower said god, but the body could be used as a eternal vessle for him.

All the light followers would have to do is say that the god wearing the shell is the messiah, and we would be in for some trouble.

We may start the infiltration mission. It's more appropriate to begin the defamation campaign when we rescue the prince or have some evidence.

yes we must leave quickly. if you can get a messenger to the king and explain, quietly, that we know what is going on and that if can have the guards use only non-lethal force, it would go a long way. can't ask him to remove the guard, that would tip them off, but having them not kill will save a lot of lives if they are forced into combat.

Hmmmm, the situation is dire, but we can turn it around. In fact, we can use their own plan against them. The prince is a conduit to the land itself and they plan to use him for their god. He must be afraid, scared, hurt... in pain. If pain is what brought us here, then we can use his pain to temporarily possess him. Then we use our might and his to form a barrier... one to keep this god of Law OUT of this plane.

However, chances are the barrier will also keep us out and even then, they likely have wards to keep us away from the prince himself. As such, consider this an addition to your mission, *create simple pocket size glass ball* when you find and free the prince, hand him the orb. It has no magic, other than what was used to make it, but that is enough. Have him pray to us with that orb. If we need things from you to contact you, he will need something from us to contact us fully. With that simple glass orb, we will have that link and with that link, we can deal with this God of Law and Light.

As for a proper distraction, get as many followers that are still awake to... party. All across town, in the bars, in the parks, near here and near the tower of light. Have them sing, dance, and be merry, but most of all, have thing sing this from time to time.

i am sure if you explain that divinely controlled people that never feel sadness or happiness don't drink at all they would be willing to co-operate.

Not only that, but I am pretty sure when we manage to deal with the god of law, weekly tavern nights would be ok to add to our religion. After all, if this goes perfectly, we would have to thank drunken singing to our success. Would be good business in the long term for the bars and taverns.

Besides, alcohol can make people act erratic and in ways people don't expect them to. I'm sure the god of law would be against such a chaotic thing and would try to restrict drinking if he got his claws on this plane.

You know, we should go further with letting them know that we know their plans. If we still have skilled personnel to spare, we should set in motion a second, somewhat more direct plan to disrupt their ritual, because they will know we are up to something.

Nah, we shouldn't do a direct move on them. If we do, it gives them a reason to go after our other followers. Not only that, but it would focus their intent inwards to protect the tower.

With a spread out, non aggressive threat, they NEED to have people keep an eye on them and so long as our followers don't do anything outright hostile, they can't just beat them down and go for the next group. In short,
let them think that our plans don't involve the tower itself while our true plan is carried out.

Hmmmm.. while a ritual would be handy I don't think it will help either. An open ritual would invite too much trouble to our worshipers. It could be considered an outright act against them which means they could retaliate fully since we would be doing it close to them.Even then, they had time to prepare and the home field advantage. In a outright ritual duel, we would most likely lose.

However, that doesn't mean we could use bits of that with our party strategy. Think of the poem I said before. It did two things, defamed the god of law, and make us look good even though they were lightly concealed.

I am not 100% on this, but praising can be considered a form of worship which was used to empower gods and the like. Not only that, but the songs may distract the Law God's worshipers keeping them from doing their all in their ritual. It wouldn't be able to outright clash with it, but we could weaken and delay them bit by bit. The praise to us in the area may even allow us to subtly help them as well.

Perhaps we could use some bards in our flock who are good at making up songs and such. Just keep them subtle on both parts and we should be good.
