No, my Lords! Those gods, as all dead gods, are still part of thy Army, told in the tale we written from thy Holy Word.

Those heathens, the believers in the Merciful God's Light are the ones to fear! They wish to bring their God of Law to our lands, and the king allowed it -- ignorant to the true consequences!

Imagine what would be! Its presence, it'd wrap our world of Will! They wish to make it a world of Fate! A world free of suffering, of wants, of choice!

I, Dark Priest Kalash, demand your assistance! The time is dire! Guide us!

Actually no it's not. It's just our will instead of yours. What are we up against in more detail? Do the blasphemers send ships? Carriages? Balloons with fire-launching shaman-enchanted tribesmen? Giant eagles? Going to need a bit more specifics to advise. Omniscience is a little rusty all of a sudden.

to fight this is complex but not impossible. you cannot fight a god directly, they are too strong, you cannot kill those that worship him, it would bring down the king's wrath. instead we must attack their very faith in the god. what does this god ask for and what does he promise in return?

Sam-Khya, please give us an inventory of everything at our disposal. Everyone, a recent history of events would be useful, since we need to know when and how the alliance of the king moved to the believers of the "Merciful God".

"When both our flock and the Merciful God's were made oficial in the capitol, the King saw wise to assign our temples to opposite corners of the city, a block away from the Hobson's Bay. Since our side was closer to the bay's pass, a prosperous harbor grew around our district, while the followers of the Light's became the residence of the wealthy. Both our faiths have multiple minor temples around the city, but they are of no concern for today."

"Last I counted, we have between seven and eight hundred devouts under our wing; five hundred of them are here today, in our main temple. There's a wide mix of people of all skills, and we believe the followers of the Light have similar numbers as us. The King's favor really gives them the edge; it means they have part of the Royal Guard at their call. Maybe a hundred of the Empire's finest."

"We do not have the time to sway the King back to our side, though. The folowers of the Light started their ritual around noon; that means we have until the sunrise to foil their plan, or the God of Law will arrive in our world."

"You do bring a good question, our Lords. The Royal Family, nor the previous Kings ever shown any preference to either faith. Our Imperial Majesty only declared their favor to the Merciful God's church maybe last week?"

"I'm not sure about which result 'attacking their faith' whould have, they are as devout to their cause as we are to you... but bringing our numbers to their door, that could have some use."

"Understood."

"We do not know any specifics about their methods; they are a secret as closely-guarded as we guard ours."

"Do you believe there's foul play in action?"

"I believe we have no evidence for such accusation. And that summoning a God, a ritual of this magnitude cannot be arranged in a week. And yet, here we are, and in the presence of our Lords!."

"I'd think possession is different. If wasn't for the voice, Kalasha seems the same..."

"I can assemble any infiltration team you desire, my Lords. We have a wide array of experts among our faithful; warriors, burglars, assassins, demolition experts, spies, con men, prostitutes-- just say the word, and they'll be here. I do recommend whichever team is assembled, to not be larger than three members."

"Superstitious as ever, eh Al-Had?"

"Scripture is clear about the efficiency of the number three. And yes, we have women and children among our flock... but I fail to see why you would need the young ones."

"The Temple of Light is the tallest structure in the Imperial Capitol. The four towers and their walls form a circle around the central spire. The lowest floors are usually open to the public, but not tonight. It is where they carry most of their rituals."

"We believe the floors between the middle and the ground are their devout's quarters. They have stockpiles inside the walls, but most of their supplies are kept in warehouses outside the church. We have no information on for what the rest of the building is used for."

"We do know its access is restricted to their highest ranks... the Light Priest, his generals, and the general's assistants. None of our spies ever made it to the top."

You're right to act with caution. However, it's hard to believe that there is no connection. In fact, this may be a plan engineered long before, and this alliance with the king was purposely delayed so as to not arouse suspicion. Anyway, we can't ascertain this given the urgency of the situation. We'll have to act with what we have.

Al-Had is correct. A group of more than three members would find many difficulties to infiltrate enemy territory. We'll need your most capable individuals. They can't be seen, nor leave any evidence of their action. In fact, they need to get back alive.

The Temple of Light has magical barriers? If so, a good scout for stealth and disabling traps, a spell caster well skilled in transportation and invisibility, and an expert on barriers. That or items that simulate these skills would gretly increase the odds of this mission.

Indeed, any sudden and violent action would lead to reprisals, something we must avoid. That's why I want to know as much as possible about the ritual. If there are key elements that we can damage or any process that we can sabotage.

Creating a distraction is a good plan. Various distractions, actually. Gather a large number of our men, four hundred or more, and separate them at key points of the city. Please, no violence, since we need the population at our side.

Finally, I need to contact the Heir Prince. I have a bad feeling about this... Pray that you're right, Sam-Khy.

I think simply demolishing the tower would be the easiest way to stop the ritual. does your world have gunpowder? its an explosive compound made of 1 part carbon, 1 part sulfur and 4 parts saltpeter. a barrel or two of that stuff in the right place could probably bring down the tower.

"No, if they judge necessary to check on the Heir Prince, I'll need to weave something. I'd need a personal object his as the focus."

"Would-- you know- um-- Legion is here, he wouldn't need to--"

"Yes, I'm sure our Lords could miracle a solution by themselves, as their knowledge about the world's workings is vast, and their power is infinite compared to ours. But that would be foolish! A direct intervention of the divine would alert our enemies to our Lords' presence! I'm sure its safe for our Lords do their miracles though, as long as they stick to the limits of the mortals."

"Which means we still need something of the Heir Prince. That can be arranged; we have a maid in one of the Majesty's harems; she should have access to the Heir Prince's quarters. We'll just need an hour or two. I'll arrange that immediately."

most likely it was so we could hear him. since we are here they are not needed at this time. and if the ritual is unstoppable by normal means then we should go ourselves, just a drop of a different god's power in a spell meant for someone else could have catastrophic results, from simple failure, to a massive burst of energy, to even causing the ritual to funnel all it's power to us instead. but we also must be careful, determinism usually involves seeing the future and simply saying it WILL be instead of it MAY be, they may have foreseen our attempts to disrupt it and the disruption attempt is what completes it. prophecies can give even us a headache sometimes.

Good evening, faithful ones. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

The services provided by all of you are appreciated, but once again we have to put your valuable lives at Death's grip. Possibly, this is the most dangerous mission of your lives. Don't give little value to this warning. One who values his survival more than his life, and what it represents, just put the mission and colleagues at risk. Withdrawal will not be penalized.

However, warnings aren't the only things we have to offer. For this mission you will have, more than ever, our blessings and company. You'll maintain direct contact with us. We'll also create distractions to facilitate your invasion and escape.

That said, we need you alive. We can't leave any traces of your movement. This is a mission of reconnaissance and sabotage. We need more information about the ritual, so we can disrupt it and make it look like an accident. Minimizes the casualties, since they indicate an invasion. This caution exists to prevent retaliation and an open conflict where we'll be in disadvantage.

Again, thanks are given to your willingness. Be prepared to leave immediately.

Al-had, Sam-Khya, Nápvika, Sagerd. It's possible to cause a non-violent commotion in front of the Temple of Light? We need to ease this task for those who accept it.

How about a drunken brawl? Get one of our loyal to stumble around out front and pick a fight. Then others rush in to 'help' one side or the other. Hopefully we would draw their followers into the brawl and let it build into a riot.
If you can have the guards seek only to contain the fight instead of dispersing it then the church would be forced to respond.

What causes you fear, Beltrane? No, that's enough. Mabón and Ostara will be holders of our voice and will. You must trust them not only with your life, but also with your faith. Before your departure, however, we need to observe you more closely. Approach us, Beltrane.

We exist to guide and protect our dear flock, not to force ourselves over them! Your word! Your faith! They're enough! Now, approach us, Beltrane! If our words can't accompany you, may our blessings guide you trougth this ordeal and bring you safe to our bosom!

Wiser? They act with fear and mistrust, treating the task as something of no return, erroneously using our presence to force and intimidate others.

Lies? I do not see thunder and lightning or fire and curses under control of this mortal vessel. Status and words are our greatest weapons. An uplifting speech to dispel fear, an emotional speech to end discord, a personal threat to inhibit betrayals.

Judge? We do not hold such privilege, we lack time and opportunity. The situation is dire and urgent. We have to use any subterfuge to ensure our success. Anyway, it is clear that any conscious error will be punished with something worse than death.

Now, seems like some forgot our own nature. No matter how often and how loud they are made, many of our words will not find their way to the ears of mortals. None of this has ever been under our grasp and control. Suggestions, not orders. Possibilities, not certainties.

Rather than spending time and potential with internal discussions, present a better course of action. More than any destructive power, show them and ourselves how our ideas can be powerful.

Hmmmmm... I feared this.

Followers, I ask a question; You said you used to use live sacrifices for your rituals, yes? Also, judging by the fact that we are in this body, gods can possess people.

This is the very, VERY important part: Does the host of a god need to be ALIVE? I figured that a god could only possessing for a bit, but a dead body would likely have no resistance.

My theory; The prince is in the tower, he is very likely going to be sacrificed for the god of law, and chances are his royal blood which connects him to the land is not only going to empower said god, but the body could be used as a eternal vessle for him.

All the light followers would have to do is say that the god wearing the shell is the messiah, and we would be in for some trouble.

"Flowery exaltation, if you ask me. But if the God of Law is to possess the Heir Prince... you are right. The connection alone could allow the possession to last forever! Even if the Heir Prince ages, he would never fall to Death."

yes we must leave quickly. if you can get a messenger to the king and explain, quietly, that we know what is going on and that if can have the guards use only non-lethal force, it would go a long way. can't ask him to remove the guard, that would tip them off, but having them not kill will save a lot of lives if they are forced into combat.
>>
No. 368417 ID: f31dfc

Hmmmm, the situation is dire, but we can turn it around. In fact, we can use their own plan against them. The prince is a conduit to the land itself and they plan to use him for their god. He must be afraid, scared, hurt... in pain. If pain is what brought us here, then we can use his pain to temporarily possess him. Then we use our might and his to form a barrier... one to keep this god of Law OUT of this plane.

However, chances are the barrier will also keep us out and even then, they likely have wards to keep us away from the prince himself. As such, consider this an addition to your mission, *create simple pocket size glass ball* when you find and free the prince, hand him the orb. It has no magic, other than what was used to make it, but that is enough. Have him pray to us with that orb. If we need things from you to contact you, he will need something from us to contact us fully. With that simple glass orb, we will have that link and with that link, we can deal with this God of Law and Light.

As for a proper distraction, get as many followers that are still awake to... party. All across town, in the bars, in the parks, near here and near the tower of light. Have them sing, dance, and be merry, but most of all, have thing sing this from time to time.

Black King, on his throne,
Lands he'd seen, worlds he'd known.
White Jester, sneaky clown,
Dreams too big, wants the crown.
His crown is his people, none shall sway,
but the cheeky rogue wants to take it away.
While the king sleeps, the jester did hide.
From the crown, a jewel he pried.
He took the jewel, made his own crown.
But even still, he was just a clown.
The black king woke, mighty with rage!
He called his knights and soldiers, even the page.
And then the white jester ran, hands on his prize.
But the black king's men spot him, they heard his cries.
They brought back his jewel, back into his crown.
Then they gave the fool the boot! Good bye, white clown.

Make it so each person has their own variation if they feel like it, just keep to the theme. We want them to be distracted, thinking that we are going to do something bigger than what we will do and hopefully make them fumble. Also, I for one think a few... subtle jabs at Mr. Merciful will boost moral all around.

what's the glass ball for? we're the ones going TO the place. as in we will be able to physically TOUCH the prince who is at the top of their tower. probably in a room right next to the ritual. simply that plan is much too complex when a simpler one will do better. a party on the far side of town may seem nice but that distraction doesn't seem like something that would draw their guards away from one side of the place to the other. need something that would draw the guards. is why i suggest a large gathering protest, give the APPEARANCE that it could get bad. and that they need all the guards to contain it in case it does.

[null glass ball creation, you used no reagents so making something from NOTHING could be divine power]

No. Possessing the Prince is a really good plan. This would disrupt the ritual without a trace, keep the prince alive and give us a privileged position. However, our presence can't be felt. We can't go personally. If we're captured, all is lost. Doubt that there's any other suitable vessels for us, like Kalasha and the prince. Not to mention that Mabón, Ostara and Beltrane are far better suited for this task. The Paired Stones. Let's try them.

except the plan relies on the prince being far away from the ritual, and in a room CONNECTED to the ritual room. which is where i would place any sacrifices. meaning that we would alert everyone to our presence no matter what. also we may be the only ones capable of stopping the ritual. godly power against godly power. simply put, not going ourselves would be putting too much on us being lucky and the enemy being very stupid. and with how they have been acting so far, they aren't stupid. insane maybe, but not stupid.

We'll take that your lordship doesn't believe in the abilities of Mabón, Ostara and Beltrane and want to sacrifice them and Kalasha. Unacceptable. Being discovered means torture and death. We have little knowledge on the enemy installations, much less of the ritual. Not enough, there is the possibility that our presence can be felt when out of our temple. This would ruin the mission and is a risk that we can't take. In the case of their god being successfully invoked, we will be the only hope of this world. The prince will is already on our side and we need to create a strong connection with his majesty, like Kalasha did with us. Physical contact is unnecessary, we travel through minds and souls, not bodies.

2. if we are discovered how are they gonna catch us? we are a GOD. cast FUCK YOU at them.
3. again, how are we going to get to the prince AT ALL when he is most likely in a cell RIGHT NEXT TO the ritual room.
4. the connection with kalesha was made by not only being our high priest but having a large group of people giving him their energy. a single person praying at a single ball would not be enough to make a blip.

i am saying stopping the ritual would be easier then trying to sneak a glass ball to the prince.

Not an option. This would cause civil war. Kalasha doesn't have our powers, just our presence. Were we brought in our totality, destroying the minds of our enemies would be effortless. Doubt that the extension of Dark Priest's powers are sufficient for this task. Concerning the energy, our followers will already be in a frenetic tune prior to the infiltration. Our weapons are distraction, subterfuge and incapacitation. That's why we created this plan and recruited Mabón, Ostara and Beltrane.

You missed the part about them doing a lengthy ritual to channel the Light God's full might, whereas we were called in haste. In other words, the possession they're working on is NOT equal to our possession, and in fact there're different terminology for both.

"Now, about the Prince..."

"That idea hangs on too many assumptions."

"Feasibility aside, that IS a good plan. "

"What?"

"The Heir prince is certainly the centerpiece of this madness; if our powerful Lords can take him as a vessel before the God of Law, their ritual would be ruined."

"Sir, we have no reason to believe--"

"-- but fabricating a... an artifact for this task would be foolish. If anything, Ostara's bond should prove to be a stronger conduit than anything we could ever manufacture."

"Huh?"

"What?!?! She isn't even a mage! Much less a battery!"

"A pact of blood is one of the strongest bonds. She already made her dedication clear; we are not taking anything she didn't offer."

"... understood. When the need arises. You can count on me, my Lords."

Not only that, but I am pretty sure when we manage to deal with the god of law, weekly tavern nights would be ok to add to our religion. After all, if this goes perfectly, we would have to thank drunken singing to our success. Would be good business in the long term for the bars and taverns.

Besides, alcohol can make people act erratic and in ways people don't expect them to. I'm sure the god of law would be against such a chaotic thing and would try to restrict drinking if he got his claws on this plane.

You know, we should go further with letting them know that we know their plans. If we still have skilled personnel to spare, we should set in motion a second, somewhat more direct plan to disrupt their ritual, because they will know we are up to something.
>>
No. 368610 ID: f31dfc

Nah, we shouldn't do a direct move on them. If we do, it gives them a reason to go after our other followers. Not only that, but it would focus their intent inwards to protect the tower.

With a spread out, non aggressive threat, they NEED to have people keep an eye on them and so long as our followers don't do anything outright hostile, they can't just beat them down and go for the next group. In short,
let them think that our plans don't involve the tower itself while our true plan is carried out.

Hmmmm.. while a ritual would be handy I don't think it will help either. An open ritual would invite too much trouble to our worshipers. It could be considered an outright act against them which means they could retaliate fully since we would be doing it close to them.Even then, they had time to prepare and the home field advantage. In a outright ritual duel, we would most likely lose.

However, that doesn't mean we could use bits of that with our party strategy. Think of the poem I said before. It did two things, defamed the god of law, and make us look good even though they were lightly concealed.

I am not 100% on this, but praising can be considered a form of worship which was used to empower gods and the like. Not only that, but the songs may distract the Law God's worshipers keeping them from doing their all in their ritual. It wouldn't be able to outright clash with it, but we could weaken and delay them bit by bit. The praise to us in the area may even allow us to subtly help them as well.

Perhaps we could use some bards in our flock who are good at making up songs and such. Just keep them subtle on both parts and we should be good.

So fellow Legion and followers, what say you? Think this hybrid idea has merits?

To reverse the ritual would mean to summon all our glory and ignominy to this reality. We advice heavily against this. We just need to disrupt the ritual. You are perceptive.
Exceedingly perceptive indeed.
Yet for all that you see, you do not see enough.
We are Chaos, Will, Freedom. Efficiency, though desirable, is not in our nature.
If you believe your mind open enough to understand such thoughts, consider this: In all existence there is balance, and all reality exists in moderation. Too much, and all becomes as unto fire. Too little, and all things slow into an icy death.

We are the fire, and the freedom, and the power!
If The Legion were ever singular, all would burn before its gaze, and the very concepts of reality would tear asunder in the presence of The Legion. It would only be stopped if we were to exert all of our focus into creating a new reality with laws enforced by our own power, binding ourselves in a final attempt to restore reality, in a bid to survive against the Void.

As you can guess, we don't really want that. If there is no order, Chaos is formless. If there is no Chaos, Order is without meaning.

No way am I letting that happen. If we are chaos, we are going to make 0% into 100%! We'll snatch that bright bastard's victory from it's maw and make it ours! It's order, it's rules, we will SMASH. THEM. TO. BITS.

not everyone, just everyone within a area. take the map and draw a circle so that one edge goes through the middle of the castle with the tower in the middle and another circle that is just inside it's zone. everything between those two circles. not sure why this other one thinks it needs to be evacuated but it is suspicious.

Sirs, do you have any idea of how big this is? There ain't enough ships in the kingdom for--

I wish-- but- but... What can we even do?
>>
No. 375440 ID: 453e62

just need everyone in that area to move to a place out of that area.

No sexual assault huh? Well I'm sure we'll get around to it eventually.

>>375440

We could set them up to shelter in place. We'd want to make only the ground-zero folks evacuate, the rest could do a SIP on the periphery.

But why are we evacuating? This is supposed to be a moment of triumph!

No. 375472 ID: 453e62

and we aren't even sure if stripe is dangerous or the only safe zone. so we need to get everyone we can READY to move.
for now we should check out the guys infiltrate the tower and if we find more info we can act.

hing yet?

Nothing yet.

He's been too quiet so far. I don't like it.

Our Masters believe in our ability to do this without them, as they have done so far.

Well, our trip so far is most on Mabón's credit. And the drunken brawl's. But not his.

Cold feet, Beltrane.

I just doubt we can shadow our way trough ten thousands of people. Its like every shinymen and their families are here.

hello, sorry about that, we had some... difficulties. should be under control for now.
we will help where we can, perhaps channel a spell that makes everyone disinterested in looking at you.

Our Lords. Your voices are welcome to us. What is thy command?

I see they're listening again.

Hmn. Chanelling a confusion trick would work very nicely.

It wouldn't work on me, because, you-know-what. Unless one of you two can cast it...

I see. I'll meet you two downstairs, I'm gone to acquire a few shiny robes.

... this place feels so...

Don't bother. They're doing some heavy perception distortion here, that tower, its... it isn't even that shape.

... we should find where the real tower lies.

Technically, we should find a door. And we should assume everyone here is under the same glamour... fooling their followers selectively sounds a bit too...

You assume this is by design, to awe those here. We should not assume all of them are 'fooled'.

hmm... i think channeling a true sight into one of you would be good. will be able to see the truth and the lie together.
who get's it?

If my eyes now see what your eyes can see, I'm afraid this is all there is too see.

Mnh?

Our lords tired to clear my sight, but they see the same as before.

That's not a good sign.

Ostara, Beltrane. I bring the gift of disguise.

Finally. This should be enough to blend in, barring magical detection.

We should move. We need... is that the tower?

Maybe we should figure first what we're looking for. Lords?

... crawl in?

That wasn't very reassuring.

Not at all.

Don't say that. Our Lords have faith in our abilities to come through.

Then what's the whole point of 'watching over us' eh? Just to see us suffer?

Do you have anything you wanna say, Beltrane?

Yes. Yes I do.

I say they don't care, never did. They've been awfully quiet when we were on our way here, and now they're just pretending to give us guidance.

You can't possibly be serious.

Now you show a lack of loyalty with your lack of faith?

And why not? What have they said -- what have done since we came into this crazy mindscape?? Besides stalling?!

Hey, shut up. Kalasha can't be trippin' that hard.

... what do you mean, Mabón?

I mean, that cant be all. If it is, what chance do we have?

Mabón, you are a fool to question our designs. We admire your courage in speaking of your lack of faith before us, but you have not the comprehension we have. We have our plan, and our plan requires patience, and faith. Honestly, do you expect your Lords to work in ways that you can perceive?

This entire situation could easily be handled by the church on it's own power and funding. Yet we come, to offer our guidance and wisdom. Ask yourself, "Why?" We aren't as whimsical as you might believe. We act as we see fit, and you would do well to have some faith that we know what we're doing.

That is how my trust is paid. I wonder for what reason I have fought my own brethren and mustered my best to help your cause.

Beltrane, be aware of your insignificance. We have many worlds at our disposal, but always ran to help those who call for us. Always. Your betrayal was as obvious as your cries for help. That is why I offered a second chance, why I chose to trust you. Now, you who must choose. Help your brothers to escape the clutches of a tyrannical entity or hide in the comfort of your own ignorance?

Mabón, your distrust is commendable. However, we defend freedom, and stupidity is the greatest of all prisons. You do not trust in the ability of your companions, nor in the decision of your leaders, but still risk your life? For the fool and coward I gave the chance of quitting.

This offense is far too great. I should abandon you two, but there are still numerous followers risking their lives to make this mission successful. I am here to save your world, not to meet your miserable insecurities.

Anyway, do not assume that we do not have our own limitations. That is why I need your skills, why I trust in you. I want the map, a clearer picture and a better description. Now. The benefit of the doubt is not something that we have at the moment.

Bhahaha! Harsh, man.

Listen to Him, folks! He said it pretty well.

Oh hey, wait, guys, can we pull a miracle here? That'd be pretty sweet.
