Sarixu tells me tales of a race called Gnomids that inhabits a Celestial plane of Duadol. That realm is behind a world portal that lies active inside a gatekeeper fortress near to Ylon. The gatekeepers have hidden the portal and covered up the knowledge about it.

The fortress is not far. It will take three weeks on foot, but flying would be faster. Fhan's companion Sarixu is a shapeshifter dragon. Should Sarixu and Fhan walk on foot and utilize Fhan's crime world contacts or attract attention by flying directly to the scene?

Let's stay on the ground. Better not to attract unwelcome attention.
Sarixu should shift into a form as harmless as possible.

Sarixu smiles at me when I ask her to make herself look harmless. She removes her golden plate mail and hairlocks. Now she looks rather plain and harmless in her odd dark red silk robe. Like a pilgrim of noble birth.

Should we visit Gung Gol, my city of birth, before we cross the grasslands?

I really want to go to Duadol to see a high civilization and get myself a conventional mission.

I have no belongings in the city. I've worked as a page and an entertainer in noble houses and courts. But for the last ten years I've been living in the mountains with Sarixu and her baby dragon that has learned to hunt lately. The mountains are a safe playground for him.

Now that I have grown myself scales it's hard to discourse with normal people, but the other cult members might find my scales interesting. I could also exchange a some of our gold to cultist items or clothing.

(Paint new clothing on on Fhan if you dare)

We stride down into Gung Gol's streets and I begin to seek one of the dragon cults sanctuaries in the city. They have a newly imported death ray rifle in their inventory but that could cost all the gold we brought with us. It would also be difficult to hide beneath our cloaks due to its size. They also have quality steel chainmails and all sorts of sabers and swords, even local machetes made of steel instead of lower grade iron.

I am especially talented in three things.

Dragon scales are a magical membrane. As a telepath with the scales I will be able to reflect intrusive telepathic rays and block my own thoughts being cast out.

I'm also an entertainer. I possess an excellent spatial sense, which I've put to self defensive use as a blade.

A priest of an ancient civilization taught me to travel with my mind into distant locations and even the future. This makes me a seer. However, the visions and interactions with these distant places are minimal without being physically present. That is also why I want to physically get there.

The fortress gate is a large bronze gate crafted together with stone blocks to block an entrance to a natural cave. At the entrance a red hemp rope hangs next to the bronze gate. I pull the rope - a bell faintly rings inside - but nothing else happens in a while.

We wait for a sign of hospitality, but none appears. Sarixu says she'll shapeshift into her dragon form.

We land at the high entrance facing the observatory. A purple figure watches me as I lower myself from Sarixu's back.

The purple figure has oval appearance and he speaks nervously a foreign language.

I telepathically grasp its meaning. "This! This cannot happen! Who are these people with dragons!"

Sarixu shapeshifts into human form and answers the figure: "Gatekeeper, we wish to use the portal in this fortress. I am Sarixu, this is Fhan, my companion."

"No foreigners have been welcome here in a long while. You are in trouble if you try to enter."

"Who are these outsiders? How did they get in?"

"Duadol. Looks like a minor archway, a poster city for interplanar travellers and business. It is a good representation of the might of the Gnomid people. We have many options now. Either we could book a residence right away paying with our gold, which we have plenty of - or we could delve into the interplanar business of this archway. I believe we could find economic houses as well as an amusement arcade, we could find a mystery school for foreigners as well as martial arts dojos." Sarixu tutors me.

"I would recommend visiting the enlightenment theatre of Hobodal, which is the name of this archway. Elightenment theatres inform the populace of remarkable interplanar news, incidents and tidings in an artistic manner. If you need official business visit the Goldman throneroom, but you should have a well formed request or business if you decide to meet someone there." Runyc tells Sarixu in Gnomidish.

We go to the theatre. It takes some time to buy tickets and wait for the next show. Subjects in the show vary from colonial incidents and tidings to dealing with alien races to homeworld politics. A banker lord had been attempted to murder in Jewel as a reaction to his outrageous bonuses. A bronze javelin had been thrown at him but it didn't pierce his very hearth so his personal bioengineer had time to block the wound with regenerative substance.

Colonists in Belebo were attacked by reapers.

Talagaryas prosperity is still skyrocketing after eleven months of immigration.

A mine chamber nearly collapsed in Khazvum after a fake engineer had messed up a support construct. Employed deep dwarven miners had repaired the support pillar with mine dust and their extraordinary sticking spittle. The fake engineer was tied up and sent to the surface to be sentenced.

Reapers are still decimating the Daichanese Empire in Naruu.

Jayrods have again refused to trade time travel devices for gold. They claim the Gnomid race isn't ready yet. Last week Jayrods refused to trade soul transfer technology to advance Gnomid advanced soul vehicle research. Soul vehicles are considered the best form of immortality know to date. Jayrods insist that Gnomids enhance optics technologies to make new discoveries in biology first. New theories in improving optics are lacking as mystery schools are monopolizing the remote viewing with their seer lineages. Banker lords are enjoying record incomes from mystery school remote viewing and are unwilling to fund engineering academies in theoretical research claiming that the way of the Seer is the purest form of seeing.

More theatre performances are scheduled next morning.

We wait overnight outside the theatre for the next show. Luckily the athmosphere in Duadol seems very cultured and we find no conflict staying outside in the warm wet ocean climate.

In the next show the performance focuses on how some gnomids have been doing in a colony located in a mineral rich snow plane. The idea of frozen water excites me immedeately and I talk to Sarixu about getting there. Khazum and Belebo seem so distant and awkward in comparison to this world of snow. I think I could start making a name as a settler in this new world of less control and all freedom...

Runyc explains that to get to Chills we would have to pass two days in Belebo, the reaper infested plane. I confess I have little knowledge about the portal network and say that it'll just have to do.

So we get going and follow Runyc to one of the portals surrounding Hobodal. The spaces flee around us in the portal momentarily and then we arrive in the purple athmosphere of Belebo. A majestic mountain rises above the barrens of the reaperland.

End of stage 2 - A trip through Belebo

1 secret revealed (1:The existence of 'adamantium', I gotta get an adamantium blade!)

So far I've left my old life as an entertainer in a muddy city and the nightlife of an agent of the Dragon Cult as a dramatic event took place in my life. I met my life companion who was a dragon named Sarixuratiliekiakunha, Sarixu for short.

We spent ten years in the mountains in a cave making flight trips to the surrounding jungles and plains... I practised magic of transmutation and was able to grow myself a permanent magical membrane, the dragon skin.

Then we left the mountains and traveled to a secret location of a world portal. It was guarded by a gnomid fortress, which everyone knew very little about. We couldn't get in by knocking, so we flew to its other entrance. Gnomids greeted us as dragonkins and led us through the dim corridors of the fortress. We went through Duadol only to head towards Chills, a snow covered world with only an incipient gnomid outpost. We think we will find peace there after the horrid plains of Belebo, a world we had to go through to reach Chills.

We step through the portal and that way arrive in Chills. The portal seems to be built of some sort of dark metal. Maybe iron? I have no idea what is inside its structure, but it must be very expensive.

All around us spreads a vast kingdom of snow. A blinding whiteness makes us blink more often. Compared to the dark plane of Belebo this seems celestial.

Some sort of snow thriving fungus cover some parts of the landscape. I have no idea how these exotic lifeforms overcome the chilly environment.

In front of us we see an obsidian pillar that has golden carvings in it. Runyc tells that it is the instructions to visitors and caravans. It will show us the way to the colony.
