My head has been very quiet-but just at this moment...it's like feeling someone else enter my brain.

I haven't seen Mal in all this time, either.

I traveled to the coast. It's only a few hours away, but...I feel like I'm a world away.

There's a community here, too. They invited me to stay with them-they've got eight others. I don't know, though. I don't..Want to hurt them.

So Mal thinks he can lay low and wait to strike once the edible population has recovered, and wants you to think he's gone for good. Also you're telepathic.

Psh. That's paranoia talking.

Sam, we... PROBABLY killed Mal. It seems we have some power, just like he does. We fought him, and won, as far as we can tell, which is not saying a lot since we can't exactly see inside your brain, and tumors can go into remission but come back later. Nevertheless, I don't think he'll be bothering you anymore.

...Gone, not gone, whatever.

In any case..I've been meditating a lot these past weeks. I...I don't think I'm going to return to Axel or Jasmine. I probably scarred the damn child moreso that she already was.

If he is gone...Then good. Is that what the silence was about?

I actually kind of missed hearing you guys-without Mal, of course.
>>
No. 485990 ID: be7fd9

Well, we missed you too!

Dunno what caused the silence though. We really don't know how this all works.

Let's say we worry about Mal if and when he does make a resurgence. In the meantime, there's no one here to try and force you to do awful things, at least.

When he comes back? I hope never.

Yeah, like I said, there's eight survivors here. They're trying to build up force, as there is rumor of a mass horde merging in from the south. I don't know if I'm going to join them or not.

I found a dirtbike a long way back, got pretty far on it. Attracted a lot of zombies but they couldn't catch up, so...Yeah. I only stopped for food and bathroom breaks.

Otherwise, when I hit this place, I've been clearing little spots from zombies for the others here. They said they were pretty happy about how many might actually alive, because another guy showed up an hour before I did. They're nice enough, really, I'm just...nervous.

What do you guys think? Should I join with them or stay solo?

He gives a shrug, and heads to sit next to me.

>"The others wanted me to check up on you, make sure you weren't a dead mass of flesh. You haven't shown up all day."

Oh, right. I usually checked up on them in the morning to see if they needed help. I didn't this morning, since my head felt so...weird.

Hmm. I dunno. On the one hand, people are good to be around. And these guys could probably use the help. Although their are more of them, and they seem better off than the last two (although I guess with that supermarket and the clearing out you did, they should be pretty safe).

Hey, what's the game here, I thought you wanted to get away from her. This isn't some kind of creepy stalker deal at all.

Shit! Get out of my head, she can feel you leave!

In any case, I recently figured out that I get VERY weak if I get too far. I could barely walk when I first got here, and the other group found me. Then Sam showed up, I got strong again, and realized it's like a signal.

And the others really did send me to check on her. With every growing day...I feel more mortal. Of course, there's that annoying little itch, but as promised, it's being taken care of with zombies.

It's not too much a long walk. I made a map of the area, and i fill in the colors as I clear out.

Green areas are basically safe-but they need constant clearing to stay safe.

Yellow is moderate, meaning not so bad but you'll run into small groups.

Red is really bad. Zombies are always coming in from them, like it's endless. According to the others, it's been getting worse and worse. We're right up against the ocean, and there's a bigger city to the west. I've spent my time keeping green zones green and yellow zones one their way to green.

They're all very civil! I think you will all like them.
>>

>>486315
That's a very smart plan. If you had made a fence then tried to keep all zombies out, the number of zombies would have been enough to eventually overrun the fence, no matter how strong it was. It also makes it much easier to kill the zombies (with melee weapons) by letting them wander in at their own pace; this makes them spread out. It also makes escape easier in the case of a security failure, since there isn't a 10ft thick wall of zombies around the fence blocking your path.

Do you still have your gun?

As we approach the building, now in the green zone, one of the others in the group is wandering around, kicking at the rubble. He has a crowbar in one hand, a lighter in the other, his fingers idly flickering the flame on and off.

I'm about to call out a greeting when I hear running footsteps coming towards me. It's the twins, Billy and Danny.

They grin at me, bouncing up and down in the hyperactive way 7 year olds do.

>"Sammy! Are ya' staying with us?"
>"Yeah Sam, are you?"

They hound me with that same question, ramming into my stomach with hugs. I laugh, and confirm that I am.

They both cheer, high fiving and runing ahead, I presume to tell the others.

I look back to greet Bryan once again, but he's gone. Huh.

Malcolm trails behind me, seeming to be keeping a lookout for any roamers.

I see a lizard kobold, Ratchet, pacing around the entrance-he must be on lookout duty.

He nods to me, spitting his cigarette out and smashing it with his foot.

>"Samantha! I'm glad to see you here. I can't but hope wonder if Malcolm convinced you to stay?"

I blush a little, giggling. He's got a nice voice and is rather...handsome for a kobold.

"Indeed he did! I-I'm, glad you were hoping he did!" SHIT. I'm really bad at talking to cute guys.

I run in, Malcolm closing the door behind me.

We stand there for a few moments, awkward seeping in the lack of words.

Finally, Malcolm speaks.

>"Just fuck him and get it over with. You're acting like he wants to marry you and have kids."

I-I guess he's right. It's no big deal, right? The others in here are giving us odd looks. I think I DID overreact a little. Oops.

You can recover from that later, if you still want to jump his bones. (It's as big a deal as you want it to be. People vary a lot with the significance they attach to sex). In the meantime, try and blow it off, get rid off the weird looks.

Here's Ursa. She's the foster mother of the twins. She's terrifying, being gigantic, but is SUPER sweet and loving. She'd protect this group with her life.

I don't know exactly what's happening, but I'm surprised her brain hasn't given out.

As I said in our brief moment a while ago, the further I get from her, the weaker I am. I could hardly walk when I arrived here, which is why it was important to get her to stay here.

In any case, I've...advanced, so much. I believe the changes can best be described as...'emotions'. Some, rather embarrassing things came first but fine tuned within another day.

Of course, the raging blood thirst is still there, but I go on the daily town walk to take out areas where zoms' are getting too dense in.

It's...daunting, no, annoying! To see her and see the head that holds my true beating heart.

...Raised heart pressure, heated body, a pang in the stomach. Jealousy.

That is my body. I let myself become content with a puppet, even if well made...Humph.

>God-like. Though a god has no empathy and no conscious, does it?
Well, it can vary from God to God, religion to religion, or even believer to believer. You could see a god as the epitome of virtue and what is moral- making Him or Her by default the most empathetic thing that exists. Or you could see a God as so much more than mortals that the very concept of conscious or empathy doesn't apply. Religion gets... complicated. And paradoxical.

But... the primary feature of something like a god is usually immortality. We may be some kind of freaky undead tumor, but we can still die (I think). You still need to feed. There are finite limits to what we can do. Gods are usually above those kinds of restraints.

>fear
Yeah, that sounds like fear. Although what we should be concerned about is what could happen in the future, not how easily whatever caused us in the first place could have went wrong.

What would you do if you had your own body? Would you run around killing all that there is? What would you do after that? Competition is entertaining. So long as you won't die out, you should try to keep the people around you alive. They'll keep you entertained with their losses and wins, with their conversations. Even Sam is fun sometimes, right? (whether messing with her or helping her)

Of course-focus on the present. I'll get the hang of it.

As I said earlier, I may as well wait for... re population.

Except being 'alive' has made me realize that I may not be around for that kind of population. Along with Sam...I will die.

I feel that despite this realization, I must wait until the right moment to kill any of the living...

Hmmm. What...what do people like? To talk about, to do together? Ever since I've been here I've been quiet and reserved, so I may as well... localize.

>Along with Sam...I will die.
Well, maybe. The other possibility is that as a kind of freaky zombie-living hybrid, Sam (and you and us) might well live longer than any of us expect. Or... creepy as it might seem, that if Sam bites it, the body would just zombify and leave us 'alive'.

We really don't understand our own situation well enough.

>What...what do people like? To talk about, to do together?
Well, that varies widely from person to person! There's all kinds of things. Although I suppose that's not much help for someone trying to find yourself. Maybe just go see what the others are doing, and if any of it grabs your interest?

Ratchet - Patrolling around the building
Bryan - Still out digging around in piles of trash
Ursa - Making dinner for the twins

>>

Hmm. Not a whole lot of choices. Aren't there supposed to be 8 people here?

Well, Sam is asleep, and thus boring. If Tina's trying to get the baby to sleep, she probably doesn't need you bothering her (unless you're good with kids?). Food preparation tends to be stressful, and if you're not willing or able to help, you'll just get in the way.

So yeah. Your options are either male bonding with Ratchet, or hanging with the baby.

8. Tina's baby, Jen

I knew he'd think like this. Remember how Ursa thought you were the one hitting on Sam? Ratchet thinks something similar.

You have 3 options to deal with this: 1, backing off from Sam and possibly losing proximity to her.(also being a bit subservient to the lizard) 2, Trying to prove why you should get to stay by Sam, which will be interpreted as a love confession. Or 3, forget this whole thing happened and deal with the consequences when they come up. I recommend 2 because more competition/fun and there being little chance of you losing your place next to Sam.

Well, sure. If you're not trying to socialize with a jerk. That happens somethings.

And even then, it can sort of be fun. There's a challenge and a skill to manipulating or playing with combative personalities. Getting them to do something useful instead of going off.

>What the hell does pretty boy mean?
It's an insult. According to certain schools of thought, boys aren't supposed to be pretty. So it's like calling you weak, effeminate, etc.

>What do?
Just blow this off. You could end this blustering loser, but there's no real gain in it. An unexplained death would cause a lot of upset and instability in the group- way more than a little bluster or overzealous romantic pursuits.

It is 'fun', in the same way that running a race/marathon is fun. It sucks during it, but by the time you're at the end, you'll be glad you did it and look back fondly on it. You also get a trophy (peoples' affection and cooperation) if you do well enough.

It's kind of weird...We haven't known each other for a week, and I feel like..there's a different connection between us. In fact, the majority of the month passes with little happening. I have another fling or two with Malcolm, thought tension between him and Ratchet is a little scary. They've both taken a protective, possessive means about me, though Malcolm seems to be the most in command of keeping me. I think I'm okay with that. It's not like I plan with sleeping with another dude every other week.

Another survivor showed up, thought she's little use other than watching the kids. It at least allows Ursa to get out and help me clear the streets. The mobs that appear back every morning are getting thicker by the days, so help is much needed. She also cleans up car wrecks and helps clear out buildings to secure them.

Despite our efforts...The yellow zones are steadily becoming red again. It's becoming hard enough to keep our area safe.

It's the morning, and I'm out going after mobs. But it's....empty. And then I see one zombie. It's laying face down, unmoving. I see no damage to the head, but it's not even squirming a little or appearing to breath. I am about to creep up to it when something weirder happens...

Odd Zombie behavior, and suspicious colored smoke aren't good things at all.

Some kind of evolution? A zombie with psychic stuff, or astral projection? It's possible, I mean, that's kind of what you/us/Mal had/has.

Best course of action is to make sure that zombie is dead, then try and help the person inside. Avoid breathing the smoke. Or coming into contact with it, if possible.

Be prepared in case the zombie to be faking and a lot tougher than you might expect, for the smoke to be hostile and/or mobile, and/or for the person inside to actually be a horrible monster or something. If any of these things happen, you can't afford to be surprised.

Oh, dammit, that's Isa.

Look, don't ask us how we know this, but she's a spellcaster (yes, magic, or something like it is real. Zombies, sentient tumors, telekinesis, get used to it), and she serves the god of disaster (or she used to. No idea what she's up to now). In all likelyhood, the mumbling and the smoke mean she's casting something.

Depending on what she's casting, it's either a good idea to stop her (if she's still serving the god of disaster, that's probably why the zombie encroachments have been getting worse), or get the hell out of the way.

The choice is immaterial. Both are death. All she's asking is how guilded you'd like your cage / coffin to be.

Really, the only appropriate response is "Fuck You". Punctuated with a gunshot. [Use freaky tumor magic to apport Sam's gun to her hands]

Hey, Mal? Thought for you. You really want to serve this little bitch? Live in a world of undead? If you ever wanted to live in a world populated by people, she's in your way. And she's kind of treating Sam like shit. You do care about Sam in some way, don't you? And there's no reason your child need to raised to this upstart's wishes.

And there has to be that nagging thought in the back of your mind. If killing the living puts you on top of the world... what does killing a god feel like? Maybe you really would be unstoppable. Maybe you really would be able to do anything. Maybe you'd really be a god yourself.

Doooo eeeeet.

The thing is..I think she might have really started all of this. She's got such an aura of power..Even Mal is bowing to her will.

She is as powerful as you think, Sam. Even moreso. She is not joking that she is a Goddess. She no longer serves Destruction-though they do work together in terms of starting this world. The other Gods have lost hope and have turned their back to us to start new worlds without the malice that came to this one. She is small and childish....But do not under estimate her. She will not kill you no matter what you try-you carry a powerful child.

...
I would attempt to shoot her, but it seems you guys don't have the same magic powers as Mal. I don't know why..but whatever is happening right now can't be decided so rash. I need time. I'll keep stalling my choice.

Smart choice. As for betraying her...She feeds my life. She feeds the magic that keeps me and the zombies alive. Where zombies are killable, I am only able to die in two ways. I will not tell you the second, as it would help your cause and...I would rather be alive. But the one way you already know is death through Sam. And I intend to keep her alive as long as Goddess Isa wishes. In the future, the perfect future, everyone will be a form of undead-I'm sure I will get the honor of killing those who do not comply to the law. They will not be like zombies, but more like...me. My genetics will run through every royal line. As will Sam's-the perfect combination of life and death. It will be a world of magic. Maybe if I please Isa enough, she will grant me a body...and when Sam dies, I shall live on.

.."Isa, please give me time to think. This is much too fast for me, and I can't think straight."

Mal suddenly materializes, thankfully in his old form. I don't think I could have handled seeing him as Malcolm right now.

I don't know. I'll be in constant contact with Isa, I suppose-it all depends on what she wants. Being the prince, he'll have to be raised with perfection.

>"He needn't be some monstrous dictator, if that is what you are discussing. Just the means to rule this land and the will to serve my command! I won't ask for TOO much. War against the rebels, severe punishment for disobeying the law, that jazz."

Is there a way we can summon Isa up if we want to talk to her?

By the way Mal, do you have any actual reason to believe Isa won't just feed you to her prince along with Sam? You are sure she will, but you are also sure she will give you the job of punishing criminals, and she has outright stated that she is giving that job to her prince instead of you. Your talk of "I'm sure" and "maybe if I please her" makes it sound like she hasn't even tried to tell you that you are anything more than a disposable pawn in her plans. If you ask her now, of course, she will probably tell you whatever stories it takes to buy your obedience. Perhaps if you ask nicely enough, she will even give you a nice little dream world to inhabit while your time in reality slips away.

I do not believe that she will destroy me. I am...her special creature. She listens to what I say to you as well-I believe she honors my loyalty to her. As she had the kindness to create me...If my time to die comes, and it is by her hand, I will gladly take my demise.
