you're awake now, and you get up. if you tried to ignore the wake up call they'd come and wake you up anyway. it's breakfast soon.

anything you can do before breakfast - i.e., do you have other clothes to change into, or anything else of interest in your room to look at?

also, the elephant in the room is the face markings, so let's get that out of the way. what's up with those

yeah. the face thing is pretty obvious.

you can't remember when exactly, but at least a year ago, down in the "pit" (where they put all the werewolves due for transformation) you ended up on the wrong end of one of the bigger werewolves. it was nothing personal, though

because like. werewolves can actually transform whenever they want, but this place isn't exactly ideal for a bunch of werewolves to be running around doing whatever. plus the humans hate it and will punish people who do. you don't know what they do but you don't really want to find out.

so if you don't transform willingly, you kind of lose control after a month or so. the humans throw all the cranky and twitchy werewolves into the pit and they're allowed back out after they get it out of their system and revert back.

naturally, putting a bunch of pent up miserable monsters in an enclosed space doesn't go well. so you ended up with these. like you said, nothing personal, you don't even remember who did it at this point, but they're pretty gross. and you probably would have died if you didn't have such good regeneration.

anyway, you're in what they call the "front ward." or something like that. everyone just calls it the pound. humans keep monsters they can catch locked up in here. it's mostly teenagers, adults know how to keep under the radar and they keep their kids close.

your room isn't very interesting. in the opposite corner of the room there's a table and a chair and some books of yours, and a notebook. you only have stuff to write with because the humans figure you can't really do much damage to yourself with a pen if the face thing didn't kill you. oh, and there's a window, but you can't see out of it.

you don't have anything to change into. you're wearing your uniform already and you only have one. it's a plain grey shitty thing, you hate it, but everyone has to wear one.

do you have any friends in here? or does everyone avoid each other?

i think either way, it might be a good idea to start trying to make some connections with like-minded people. not for a huge group escape attempt or anything, but totally for a huge group escape attempt.

the social scene in here is pretty average. most monsters tend to stick to their own groups. werewolves and vampires are the two biggest groups because they're the most common in cities. there's also the rat kings, which are just basically rat people. there's some harpies that keep to themselves. everyone else that basically fit in the "misc." category keep together, too. the groups have their own weird disputes and stuff, the wolf pack in here and the vampire clan don't like each other, but you're pretty sure that's just upholding an old rivalry nobody remembers the beginning of anyway. both sides say the other ones smell bad. that's the only stable relationship, otherwise things change pretty quickly.

you're not really a part of the wolf pack but they keep an eye out for you anyway, so you guess they're allies. you're not exactly super popular but you're not on bad terms with anyone either. you have one person you'd definitely call a friend though and they're the vampire in one of the rooms next to yours.

they're pretty nice, if a bit weird. and as far as you can tell they don't smell any different from anyone else, in that they're not offensive. they gave you the rubik's cube that's on your desk. you haven't been able to solve it yet but they can solve it in under a minute, and could probably do so faster with practice. you'll see them once the doors unlock, or since the walls are pretty thin you could probably loudly at their wall and they would hear you. you don't do that often though.

as you think about it, you hear the door's lock automatically click open. a droning voice over the intercom says breakfast will be served in half an hour. and so your day begins.

what should you do first? you could head straight to the cafeteria or mill around the pound for a bit. you could do this alone or meet up with your friend. anything else might be viable too.
>>
No. 700206 ID: 8679fe

let's meet up with your friend! bring the rubiks cube and ask them to try to show you how they do it so quickly.

are they part of the vampire clan? or are they more like you, where the clan just kind of keeps an eye on them?

Knock on your friend's door and invite them to go to breakfast with you.

Is there a way to officially join the pack?
>>

See yr friend!!
What kind of things do they serve as food here, by the way? Like normal human food like toast, or specialty monster food?? Blood for the vampires???

you quickly grab the rubik's cube off the table. that'll be a good way to convince them to hang out, they love to show off. you could join the pack if you really wanted, but it seems like just a lot of posturing and making trouble for no real payoff. you head out and go to the door to the right of yours and knock a couple times.

"hey, it's me. let's go to breakfast, i got the rubik's cube." you say.

you hear an annoyed groan but the door swings open like they were waiting. which they probably were. like you said, they're a little weird.

so, this is your vampire buddy. they're not part of the clan, just like you're not part of the pack, so that was kind of a bonding factor. you've been friends since the vampire got caught and tossed in here about 3 or 4 years ago.

"what're you staring at, woofboy? let's go get our table before someone takes it." they leave their room and close the door behind them. they start walking in the direction of the cafeteria and you walk beside them.

woofboy is what they call you, since you don't really have a name. you could probably come up with one, but you don't know any besides the ones you already know, and you don't want to copy anyone.

speaking of names, what's vampire's?
>>
No. 700347 ID: 8679fe

if you don't mind the name woofboy, you can go by WB for short. is it common for werewolves to not have given names?

your friend's name is either Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way, or it's mel. one of those

yeah, ainsley blackguard. your memory can get weird sometimes. you reach the cafeteria and head in, the both of you automatically heading to your table in the back corner opposite the door. the serving line for food isn't open yet.

it's not that werewolves don't usually have names- it's just you don't remember yours. you've been in the pound since you were a kid. the pound gives everyone a number to keep track of things. yours is 7742. the staff just call you "werewolf" "dog" "scarface" or whatever they feel like when they decide to address you. others just talk to you without using a name. you're pretty sure you're not the only one in the pound like this. at least, you hope not.

it works for you. you don't really mind, but a name wouldn't be too bad either. it doesn't feel like the right time though. woofboy or wb is comfortable.

"so, you brought the rubik's cube?" ainsley prompts, holding their hand out.

"yeah. i was hoping you could show me how to solve it." you hand it over.

ainsley scoffs at you. "have you even tried? it's not hard." they like feeling superior, you think. they hold out the rubik's cube and start showing you the different sides. "first of all, you have to look at where everything is."

you're not sure whether you want to listen to this or not.
>>
No. 700657 ID: 8679fe

mm, you probably should. you just asked them to show you, after all, so it would be kind of rude to ask and then zone out.

i hope the food is okay, at least, but from the sound of things that's hoping way too much.
>>
No. 700659 ID: 628880

if u can be bothered to listen to him, go for it.
if not, why dont u tell us abt others u know in the cafeteria? u must know some names or roles of some other monsters, even if your not friends.
>>
No. 700712 ID: a6d557

At least make an effort to listen - nod at the right places, etc. - but use this time to scope out the cafeteria and see if anyone of interest is around.
