They say summoning is dangerous, labourous work. That one screw up could mean death or worse. They'd be right. Especially when contacting or calling an Outsider.

An Outsider, one from another world or universe. Beings that supposedly hold great power and disregard the laws and rules we know. Calling them and binding them defies all rules of Hell, the Domains, and Heaven.

They say that power comes at a great price. More than your soul, or body, or spirit. That it comes at the cost of your world, and to call one is to become a god.

Lure it to the bookshelf and pull the shelf over onto it; hopefully you'll pin it at least.
You should be able to get enough leverage if you grip the shelf at the top, push your skull against the wall, and use your arm as a, well, lever.

Naw, I just work with bones. I'd have to flay and demuscled it, and even then, I think I know why those bones were in a sealing thinger.

It's got a lot of strenght in that arm, but it seems the wood it hit and broke bent in such a way to trap those chitinous ridges on the end of its club-like arm. And it can't lean down to get leverage to rip itself out, so... it might be stuck there indefinitely, or at least a long time.

I examine the blade with care. Something abou-AH!

>"You are not a demon."
>"Er. No, not really."
>"Then you cannot touch me. I have no business with you or the Beast you ride upon."

>"Don't insult my friend! His name is Awk!"
The eye narrows.
>"You intend to tell me you are using the Vanished Lord as a mount?!"

And no, only the door we came in.

>"Who or what are you? What is going on?!"
>"I am the noble blade Durance. I do not know why I was placed here. I know I can feel my energies being funneled as if my powers were being used.... but that is all..."
Wat? I don't understand any of this!

Go ask the Cloak over there who he is. It should probably talk if it's being held in the same room as such a powerful sword.

I presume that Awk was once the Lord of Beasts. Seeing as how that means he's not an Outsider, that means he was alive even reduced to bones. That's some impressive regeneration. Tarrasque-level regeneration, practically.

>"One last question: What's the vanished Lord?"
>"The First and Greatest Lord of the Beast Tribe. He vanished without a trace some time ago."
>"Thank you."

I peek at the cloak. It growls lowly at me, then sees Awk. It flaps around on the nails, seemingly excited.

>Cloak excited to see awk
Hmmm... I think I may have single handedly befriended a more powerful ally than I once thought :D

Anyways, ask it why it's so excited to see Awk.

Before I can do anything, Awk waddles over to it with great speed and snatches it from the circle, clawing the wall and breaking the ward as he does so. Awk puts it on.

"Uhm. Can you help us out of here?"
There's a long pause.
"I am sorry, my friend. You can come with me, but I cannot take you home. I have pressing matters among my tribe. Someone, or something, is intentionally disrupting the Hierarchy of the Lords. We must hurry, lest they claim another."

>"For now, let's focus on escape."
>"Agreed."

So is your name really Awk, or did you just say that because you couldn't talk before?

Say this while we go back up the stairs again.
