My name is Vicky Esteline. I was a princess under the Esteline dynasty, but after the slaughter of my mother, father, and entire royal army, I was forced to flee, and have been on the run since. The ones responsible were our enemy kingdom, the Orich dynasty. The man at my feet is, or rather, was, the strongest knight in their military, Jos Linigato, who had run off from his troop to attack me in this alley. I did not want to win this duel. I should have died many days ago.

In a way, defeating him puts me at a higher status, but also higher on the "kill immediately" list. I should move quickly, but I'm not sure where to go.

If I want to get out of here, the gate is straight ahead, but guarded by several men on both sides. There's also a less guarded staircase to the top of the castle wall a little ways to the left, but it's still guarded, and getting down would be a probable issue.

Keep the mask. Not to wear it, but to harm morale.

Then kill them, put their knight's head on a post, and start making your way to their own capital. That will be largely undefended at the moment because their forces are here.

You don't really want to live, so returning the favor is a win either way. Kill their leaders, leave them broken.
If you survive, declare you have conquered the Orich dynasty and demand both kingdoms respect your claim. Kill everybody who disagrees.
If their royalty has a kid around your age then avoid killing them. Instead marry them to secure their throne. This will have the side benefit of ending the cycle of violence, since the marriage will give you a strong enough claim of legitimacy to dissuade people from contesting it.

If you die, you'll do so inflicting as much damage as possible. Your people will be without anyone who has a claim to the throne, and will have no choice but to integrate. There will be resistance for a time, but it will eventually lead to the cycle of violence ending.

There are no bad outcomes for this plan.

Go for the stairs. You can just jump down and use Perfect Dodge to avoid fall damage. The ability has no restriction on what the source of harm is, after all.

Also don't mutilate his body or take the mask. Have some respect for the dead.

Yeah, it sounds like a bad idea to take out their toughest guy. The only threat they have to use above and beyond, "Our strongest dude, alone, would probably be assassins who'll lose the element of surprise when your power activates so shouldn't be too bad and overwhelming numbers which will quickly drain your power and get you killed.

Did you have to use one or both of your Perfect Dodges against this guy? Probably doesn't matter, the less guarded route is the best for you. We'll find some way to scrabble down.

Is your face plastered over the place? Maybe you can pass through by pretending to be a civilian or fellow; bluff them into believing you're holding a replica of the legendary sword. Does look-alikes of the legendary sword exist?

As horrible as their actions were in the past, they were only following orders. If I have already taken their life, there is no reason to go further.
After checking to see if anyone was trailing me, I head out of the central area and towards the gate.

Dust kicked up from dirt roads billows in the air all the way from here to the gate, which looms over all who are protected by it with an overbearing size. Raising the weight of the bars takes an excessively large amount of time as well, making its use an obstacle in itself. My father was always a bit paranoid, and perhaps a little irrational, but maybe he had a point, given the circumstances.

Pull out your new Fork of Attunement and wave it menacingly as you approach the guard with the grimmest expression you can manage. Their finest knight's signature weapon will probably be easily recognizable to the rank and file, and they won't want to mess with the person that took on their most powerful warrior in single combat on their own. For now, they don't realize how your power put you at an advantage or that it needs to recharge right now.

Steal his knife and put your bloody knife in his possession or next to him. When he explains himself to his colleagues, he'll buy you enough time to escape.

Fighting 1 v 6 does not sound like a good plan, even if you're good. Maybe you could disguise yourself or sneak up the stairs without the guard seeing? Or just kill them quietly.

Charge the stairs! You can potentially block a few hits without using up all of the Fork's DUR and make a good damage weapon for later.

If it takes you six minutes to climb the stairs, you can jump off the walls and miss the ground to initiate flight.

With your agility, you could possibly dodge many attacks and hopefully have some guards hit each other.

I decide to go up the stairs. I'm going to have to get past the guard anyway, but I'd rather not wear the extremely recognizable mask of an enemy royal while doing it. I've got a bit of mask-squint going on as my eyes adjust to the light, though.

I have a few options on how to approach:

A: Kill the guard and run. Not safe, probably would end up with a lot of chasing enemies, but would be fast and relatively easy.

B: Attempt to intimidate or threaten the guard using the Fork of Attunement. If it works, I could get past easily, but they might run for backup, and there isn't an amazing chance it will work.

C: Attempt to frame or slow down the guard by planting your bloodied knife near them. This would be difficult, as it'd be hard to plant the knife without being caught. I could do this while doing another action as well, but that might increase the risk.

D: Attempt a disguise, and tell the guard that there's a dead body and direct them to it as a distraction. Since not a lot of people know exactly what I look like without my mask, this might be feasible. If it fails, I'll have to charge the stairs swiftly.

Looks like the consensus is D. But if we’re going to do a disguise, we’re going to do it right. Even without the mask, suspicions would mount regarding those fancy clothes we’re wearing. Any way to make yourself look more like... ugh, a commoner?

What are we using as a disguise? I'm voting for option D, but a good disguise and being able to lie well and stay calm is mandatory. Something that partially covers your face to avoid whatever tells you have would help too, that won't give you away.

Also that necklace might give you away.

CD and Half of A - Get close with a disguise, then stab him a few times with both your weapons, leave the fork in his foot. Remember, we're talking about a legendary warrior you accidentally killed, so if a mere guard could do it, they'd get severely injured first. There might not be a blood trail, but seeing a bloodied guard holding the champion's weapon while chasing a defenseless little girl isn't going to be explained in less than forty sentences and a few beatings.

I don't think I can risk going anywhere public, nor can I waste too much time. I think the cloak isn't too incriminating, but it also draws attention. For now, I'll hide my necklace. If you got any other ideas, now's the time, but otherwise I'm going to have to go in like this.

Run frantically up to the guard and mumble something about a crime or murder, then run off into an alley. When the guard follows, jump him and take his stuff to increase your disguise.

do people still hang their clean clothes out to dry on rope and what not? think you could grab some and disguise yourself as a commoner?

Either that or you use it to wrap the necklace, mask and sword, which essentially obscures all four items. Heavily relies on nobody recognising you though.

Add a sassy sway to your walk. Hopefully the guard won't be looking at your face as much.

Either stealing or quickly buying clothing seems like the most likely way to get through here.

One note here, Bribing a soldier or guard won't work since we're not intimidating enough. They'd think it'd be easier to just capture us and grab what we're using and then capture us then look the other way and potentially get in trouble.

A dead legendary warrior slain by a weakling might kill morale or embolden them for revenge. Really, outside of last ditch shock tactic to escape it probably would only hurt you to reveal that information.

Actual tips. Plan your story ahead of time, we don't know enough about your current location to create something. A few tips do help though.
1. Explain what you were doing that made you find the body. The body's location is pretty far off.
2. There's a chance a very competent guard would screw your idea over. You found the body, so your a witness by technicality, so they'd want to keep you there. If this happens, kill and run. Also, if the guard suspects you might of killed them, they might keep you there and ask another person to check. If this happens, kill and run. This is unlikely, since once again, you appear weak and are easily underestimated. Until this information gets out, anyways.
3. A pretty competent guard could make you go with them to check the body with a knife to your back, have you lead them to the body, or just walk side by side. If 1, don't do much, If 2 or 3, you could probably ambush them if you had to.
4: Any guard or soldier that calls themself competent would tell someone else they're doing this. If this happens, your fine.
5. Any guard who figured it out and/or recognizes you before you escape may blackmail you with this information easily with a knife to your throat physically and metaphorically. Depending on how corrupt these guards are, that guard may not reveal this information and instead force you to try to do things (This is possible since there's only one guard)... If this happens and you think you can get away with it and stab em when their guard is down it is actually a mixed blessing for you. Probably won't come down to it though. If you think he knows kill and run.

I run up frantically, shouting "help" and similarly alarmed phrases.
The guard gives me a stare that could crush someone's soul.

I'm pretty sure I sound fairly convincing, but her expression doesn't change. She shouts to the guards by the gate, "!|/! !</·L+·LOΓ-LO\-LOΓ·┐┘Γ+!" It's Emmish. I don't know the language much, but I think I heard the word for "dead" in there. "Can you describe the body?"

Make sure you don't actually describe the body cause the guard might realize who you're talking about... Make something up. I hope you're a good actor.

I think the dilemma is; do you thin you have better odds of making it on the lam, or trying to establish yourself as a totally normal citizen? The latter will be trickier to pull off, but the former means that they will probably know your true face after all’s said and done. It would actually be better to at least try to throw suspicion off of yourself and exit like a totally normal citizen later, instead of throwing away your true identity as a tool just like that; they can’t maintain a lockdown forever, after all.

Author's Note: You have no clue how difficult this panel was for me to draw. It was unreasonable.

A male Avon guard sits idly on the north Pillar. They look incredibly bored, and are smoking an unknown something. In the case that it's a performance-enhancing Essence, they could be dangerous.

I go over my options:

If I could survive the fall into the moat, I could jump the bars to my right and leave immediately. I absolutely can not survive the fall.

The Pillars have small openings in them that I could use to lower myself down to the bottom, but this would take a long time and be difficult to do silently. I would also have to deal with the guard before I could do this.

I could search for rope or similar in a guard post closest to my left, but that again would require me to deal with the guard, and could very easily lead to a large amount of effort and risk for no gain.

My power's cooldowns lie at roughly 4 minutes and 3 minutes each. This is a conservative estimate, though; they could be closer than I think.

If you have to deal with the guard anyway, doing the simplest thing and lowering yourself down the Pillars is the best choice. Stay low and get as close as you can before attacking.

Try loosely bundling up your cloak and throwing it in their face as you rush them. If you get a chance, throw the spear off the wall, you might be able to recover it later.

Or just wait and use your ability to dodge the ground.

If the guard is even slightly competent then seduction shouldn't work. Nobody is supposed to be up here.

Also any idea how you can take him out silently? I mean do you have any other tricks besides knife in back?

I attempt to give a 'thank you', but all I can manage is a muffled groan. After figuring out where my legs and arms are, I start to get up. Other than being dizzy and frazzled, I feel relatively fine.

Inform him that you have had an insight into the future. That a time will come when you must be disciplined and efficient. A time when you must sacrifice justice and satisfaction for the sake of survival. Tell him that you must act now, so that, when the time comes, the scales of decency shall be balanced. Then kick him in the groin and march off to town. It'll definitely serve him right at some point in the future.

Well We just killed the most dangerous member of their military in what we assumed was a suicidal fight...We don't have much plan beyond find a way to not die and maybe get revenge, start a rebellion maybe?
