My name is Mary.

I now own a dungeon.

Not by choice, mind you. I was forced into this when the previous owner placed a curse on me after I tried to audit him. Now I'm the ruler of this place until my asshole of a boss decides to send someone to free me from the curse.

So, anywhere between a month and forever.

But I'm trying to make the most of it while I'm here.

And today...

I'm going to be going over a few things. This is my dungeon, Slimecrown Citadel. It is a one floor dungeon that is filled with a few puzzles and boss monsters. I run it, for profit. Adventurers go through my dungeon and, if they die, I gain items and runes off of them

I can use these to expand and enhance my dungeon. I also gain gold by having them utilize the dungeons services. Here's the basic layout of the dungeon.

Right now they have to defeat a few mini-boss monsters to reach the final boss, Curi, Mother of Slimes. I know it can be a bit confusing, but it's a rather straightforward dungeon all things considered.

We also offer the following services.

Services Offered:
> Healing: 50 Gold per heal. Rate goes up with each heal.
> Revive: 250 Gold

Shop:
> Repair Powder: 50g ([Max 5]
> Potions: 50g [Max 5]
> Green Blossoms: 75 g [Max 5]
> Tent: 100g [Max 3]
> Escape Crystals: 150 g [Max 3]
> Pheonix Downs: 250g plus 100 per additional

Spa:
> 50 gold per person. Spending 1500 gold will earn you a voucher for a free spa treatment.

Nope. Even with our extreme ADHD, that covers just about everything. Well, except for making monsters out of runes and what runes we presently have, but maybe sticking with the basics will be enough.

Tell him the truth, Mary. When we started out, we had one slime to work with, and we used majority slimes because they were cheap, strong and economical to work with.
We have been branching out, however.

When I first got the "job" all I had was basically a single room with a throne in it. Slimes were pretty much one of the few monsters I could hope to create. Once things got going a bit and more options became available the dungeon already kinda had a reputation for being slime heavy and with a healthy amount of slime monster verity already by that point the theme just kinda formed itself.

Oh my god I am not doing slime based puns in front of the Dungeon Masters.

>>873331
That makes it sound like a sex thing.

"When I was cursed to take over this dugneon, the man who left me here left me with but a single slime. I had to make due with what I had. At first, I took advantage of the fact that slimes are versatile and multiply quickly, but then I found that they can be quite powerful. I'm sure you've seen what my demons are capable of doing.

Not only that, but my current boss monster actually gets stronger the more types of slimes I make. When she goes all out, she's practically unbeatable.

Adventurers don't expect slimes to be a challenge, so when they find slimes that are, it provides a unique experience. Now, I would like to branch out, but at the moment I've built up a bit of a reputation."

Barring extenuating circumstances from extra-dimensional visitors... Anyway, speaking of, the mariner would probably be very interested in that special water based rune you have, Mary. Something tells me he hasn't seen anything quite like it and would be thrilled if you gave it to him as a gift, or even just offered it for trade. Segway the topic into the stuff you've managed to achieve, and are hoping to achieve with them. Make them feel like you particularly value them. Slime Matron in particular. Don't kiss ass, but at the very least say that you would be very interested in learning from some of the best, especially with Slime Matron's own history, for example.

Admittedly, that one's a bit of a Gamble, since we don't know exactly why she's so pissed off at you, but having a guess it's because you might be stealing her shtick. We need to make sure that we need to word it so that we're not quite stepping on her toes.

"Forgive me, you have a very fascinating construct. I've not seen her like before. The crown and eyepatch are unique. Now, what were we discussing?"

"The guild. I wanted to go over the its benefits."

"Ah, of course. Well, it is quite simple, Mary. When you join, you get a Halo artifact. It is purely cosmetic but it highly customizable. You may choose a rune to infuse it with and it will adapt.

Next, if we come across any rare runes, we do our best to share them with others in the group.

Finally, we share advice and sometimes even hacks for building dungeons.

There is no cost to joining, but we do ask that as much as we give, you give in return. If you come across a unique rune, do try and share it. We are not saying to hand over all your secrets, of course, they are what make us unique.

But the only way we will get better is by helping one another. That is why the guild was founded. It is our greatest tenet.

Also, we've been having problems with a rival dungeon master, does the guild have any programs to help with that, or is that something each Dungeon Master is expected to handle on their own?

Do you do any recommendations for good dungeons to raid, or make suggestions to adventurers in the direction of guild member dungeons?

Ask if they've heard anything about constructs who can accept rune infusions? Are they dangerous and/or prone to mutiny?

Other than that:
> What are some fun upgrades/upgrade routes we might not know about?

Speaking of that, I just got a fantastic idea. You see, we have this device that produces runes over time. However, in a world with magic that can alter the flow of time, why not enhance a room with time runes that cause the relative time experienced by the slime pod to be exponentially greater than that outside?

I call it: the Hyperbolic Slime Chamber.

"Are you the founder?"

"I am not. The guild was started not too long after the First Dungeon closed itself to ordinary people. The Dungeon Masters of old realized that it would be in their best interest to connect with one another and work together. At first, anyone could join the guild. However, over time, they realized that not everyone wanted to join for good reasons. A stricter entry process was made, where not just anyone could enter.

I was scouted by the previous Guild Master and, after many years, became the Guild Master and have been guiding it ever since."

>>873411
"Do you know how monster expeditions work?"

"Ah, your Demonologist didn't explain it?"

"I haven't unlocked that function of hers, yet."

"I see. Then, perhaps, you should wait until you unlock her before getting explanations. I will say that you should have no problem with it. You have plenty of demons that are idle."

>>873415
"So do you guys have any sort of special guild events? Also, is it good to do test runs of dungeons?"

"I will say that it is perfectly fine to do test runs of your dungeon. However, we do not typically run events between dungeons. While we do work together, our dungeons are seldom compatible, so, we work alone."

>Does Scuba Steve ever talk?

That rude. You can't just ask such a thing.

"I see. We've been having problems with a rival dungeon master, does the guild have any programs to help with that, or is that something each Dungeon Master is expected to handle on their own?"

"You will always have people who are jealous of your success. It is best to handle them on your own. But, by joining the guild, people will know that you have a good dungeon."

"Is it acceptable to raid the dungeons of other guild members?"

"We have no problem with it. Just know that we do not go easy on each other." He says, with a deep laugh.

"Are you aware of constructs that can take in runes? It's not dangerous, is it?"

"I have heard of them and would suggest against giving your constructs runes. Having runes within them brings them further from a construct and closer to a demon. It can have unpredictable results. Why do you ask?"

"Mm... Just curious."

I don't want to really reveal Dungeoneer's secret. What if they try to get rid of her?

Known runes (may be outdated, this is taken from chapter the 8 OP):
Water
Fancy
Stone
Comfy
Explode
Sword
Metal
Wood
Container
Fist
Cloth
Magic
String
Fire
Mind
Oil
Music
Mithril
Psionic
Levitation
Wind
Light
Tech
Law
Dark
Mundane (Anti-Magic)
Plain
Chaos
Gravity
Candy
Poison
Time
Glass
Heal
Shield
Aqua
Lightning
Thorn

Aqua is more than likely associated with aquatic creatures like fish.

Law or Fancy(money) seem appropriate for an Auditor. Can't hurt to ask if there's any runes that fit better!

Hmm she needs a scepter too, something she can block an attack with or smack an intruder with if they decide to fight, if it boosts her auditor abilities so much the better, since those can be a nightmare against people.

As for her shoes, keep them sensible, she cannot fly so flats or something she can move quickly in are a must. Comfy them up too if possible. Make em look good though.

Oh and if you give her make up make it easy to put on and simple. Mary is not a complicated girl.

Remind this bitch that you HAVE an outfit. You just dress casually most of the time because you aren't personally integrated into your own dungeon's lore and don't make many public appearances.

Even with that said, I really like the design done by Lime before the black silk ensemble became a thing. It kind of strikes a brilliant contrast of "I'm a high and mighty dungeon master with a fur cloak, but under that, I'm just a business woman."

The red cape is classic dungeon chick and works well with her hair. If you wanted to snazz it up and irritate Mary, all you need to do is add a belly and/or back covering corset. Makes her look more armored, accentuates her chest, and actually will help her with her posture all at the same time.

Mind you, she's still offering a gift that will make her feel like she's put some personal investment into you. There's no point in getting too snippy. I just hope she realizes that plain with a flourish can be perfection on the right woman.

Now, if you need a battle mode, I still strongly suggest the golden slime, collapsible armor. It can hide in the corset or a belt until needed, at which point it forms a breastplate, gauntlet, and grieves.

That's more for appearances, than anything, of course. You could just make a ring with 10 fist runes and kung fu would-be adventurers to death, but the almighty, ridiculously overpowered pocket slime as a last defense seems fun.

No color-scheme for this one, but why not go with the classic? The Slimesuit will provide comfort and mobility, as well as limited protection, and is thin enough to be worn under normal clothing.

The Mithril Clipboard and Living Quill allow Mary to protect herself and write at the same time, as well as spray ink in people's eyes at a command!

The Splodey Staff looks an ordinary magic staff that shoots Splodey Slimes at people, but when you flip the decorative waterdrop open, it reveals a switch that controls a trapdoor leading to the basement, for personal defense of course.

The Croc Loafers look like normal loafers, but are actually just small Comfy Slimes that keep your feet feeling great even when walking all day around the officedungeon.

Finally, the Slime Crown is literally just Mary's crown with Miss Bloops riding in it. It looks adorable and Miss Bloops can act as a secretary. Also if you're wearing a demon on your head the other demons might stop asking you to become one.

As an alternate modification to this design, I was also thinking that the two medallions in the center of the mantle could be replaced with a red necktie.

The two ribbons on the sides of the mantle could be removed, and taking their place would be the two medallions with the Law rune inscribed upon them that act as clasps for a fur cloak. "Big Guy?"

"Yes. The big guy. The one who made the first dungeon, who's companions are the base of all constructs. It's because of him that dungeons even function as they do now. Without him we wouldn't be able to do what we do or have constructs to help us do it. If he notices anything that breaks the balance between us dungeon masters and the adventurers then we get patches that change the way dungeons work. So... If you discover something that is completely game breaking, it's best to uh.. Keep it under wraps. Especially the slime thing. I think you should know how helpful that thing has been."

"You know, I've noticed people glitching things and speed running my dungeon."

"If you think it's really bad just file a complaint. You can message him on your monitor at any time. But uh... Keep the slime thing between us."

>Lord Savage looks at the pair.

"Matron, Mary, is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine, Lord Savage! You guys go on ahead without me, I'd like to speak with Mary for a bit."

"Ah, I see. Well then, do get along. I would be very unhappy to hear that you two got into a scuffle."

"I'm just going to be giving her some advice."

"Very well. Farewell, Mary. I will be keeping in touch."

>Savage and the rest of them bid farewell and leave.
>Now alone with the Slime Matron, Mary feels somewhat uncomfortable. Perhaps it has to do with the death glares she's been giving this whole time.

".... Thanks for not picking the water rune."

"What?"

"You know. For your halo."

"Oh. Uh... Yeah, water's not really -me-. It fits my dungeon but I don't really identify with it."

"You had the chance to, still. And you have done enough to earn it."

"Well, thank you, but as I said, Law is more fitting. I'm still an auditor."

"I can tell... You're not as bad as I thought you were."

"I try to be as nonthreatening as possible in my day to day life."

"So you say, but you've managed to do a lot in such a short time. Would you mind if I checked out your dungeon? I want to see how you do it."

"Not at all, I'll give you a tour."

>Mary doesn't even have a chance to lead her out of the room before Curi bursts in.

"Mary!" The Slime says, looking quite excited, "I saw everyone leave. Did things go well?"

"They did." Mary nods, "Oh, Curi, this is Slime Matron. She's one of the Dungeon Masters."

>Curi smiles and gives a polite nod.

"A pleasure to meet you, miss."

>The Slime Matron examines Curi, her piercing blue eyes going over every inch of her.

"Her core is damaged." She says.

"Ah, yes..." Mary thinks back to her first day here. "It happened a while ago. She seems to be fine with it like that. Is that a bad thing?"

"It makes it more fragile, but if she's made it to five runes without issue, I don't think any problems will develop."

Oh, you know... While she's here, I could ask her any sort of slime related questions, huh? She must be an expert. What kind of things should I ask while we go on our tour?

We're starting to work very hard on building up the lore of our kingdom. In fact we're looking to build up for expansion soon. But since you are also a true blue original, Matron, what is Slime life like. Is it communal, are kingdoms a rarity? What is interaction like with other races, and is your dungeon all slimes, all the time?

How do you best use slimes with more unique utility, like Cloth or String?

With respect to decorating, what should we be looking to do to make our dungeon more authentic, we've been usually slapping on water runes and calling it a day. But as you know we have royal family members that are Magma, Mud and Plant slimes, surely its not one size fits all, right?

Another thing we're kind of struggling with is traps. We only really have one, and it's not much of a trap. What are some of the traps that you use in your own dungeons?

What gods, if any, do slimes worship? We've been working with holy runes, so a chapel may be planned one day.

What do slimes do to relax, and are their any facilities we should consider for their morale?

Also, Mary, be prepared to apologize profusely for nearly bungling Oilivia's creation

"Good. I was worried about her. Well, shall we?"

>Mary leads the Matron through her dungeon. Several slimes approach the pair to greet them. Matron converses with them in slimish for a bit before moving on to the next one.

>All the slimes appear to be pleased with her and make happy noises after their conversation is done. Likewise, the matron seems to brighten up quite a bit.

"It seems they all like you."

"Yeah?"

"They have nothing but kind words to say. I am impressed, Mary. Your kind usually treat my own like fodder. Those of us with a core can think. We have memories. But people treat us like beasts."

"Well... I try to treat everyone I meet with respect, no matter what."

Til they prove they don't deserve it.

"Mmm.."

"So, what is your dungeon like? I'm going for a fallen kingdom sort of theme with mine."

"I saw. I have a more 'typical' dungeon filled with branching paths. Different areas are filled with different types of slimes and each area has a boss. It is only by collecting the cores of the bosses that you can make your way to fight me."

"You're the final boss?"

"Interesting. That's similar to mine where you have to defeat different mini-bosses."

"Yes, but mine are more 'pure' slimes than yours. You seem to have quite the variety. You have many that resemble people, even."

"Is that odd?"

"Well, no, the more runes they have the more human they become. But some of these knights, if not for their lower bodies, you wouldn't even know. You also have a few... Oddballs. Like that exploding slime."

"Explodey?"

"... Yes, that."

"She is a good girl and very useful. Also, quite powerful."

"Oh, I can imagine." She says. When they arrive at the slime playpen she can only peer inside, quickly shutting the door before she's mobbed by slimes.

"So what would you suggest to do with slimes like String or Cloth? They're not exactly combat capable, I feel, but I have them."

"You might want to consider upgrading them. Give them some runes to give them a bit more utility. Or, take advantage of what they can do already and have them make hazards or traps. Cloth is a bit tricky but sticky slime threads would be great."

"Ooh, I hadn't thought about the slime threads. I've been meaning to make more traps but it's something I've struggled with."

"You wanna ask Glass Spinner about that. The woman is obsessed with traps. I don't really do traps myself. It's a mob rush sort of thing."

>They reach the spa. A few of the slimes and some of the Constructs are lounging around in there.

"They like to hang out here sometimes."

"Slimes do enjoy warm and wet places. This is an ideal grounds for them."

"Is that so? Should I change the play room to be something like this?"

"You can, but they wouldn't be there all the time. This is more for lounging. If you want a truly happy slime, you'll have rooms for lounging, rooms for play, and another where they can eat. Most slimes aren't picky but foods high in nutrients are best. There's a tuber out there that is dense with nutrients that my people enjoy."

"What is it called?"

"Trinchal. Your Chef should be able to pick it up. Morale is already pretty high, it seems, but that will make it skyrocket. You could also stand to decorate a bit more... The blue theme is nice but as slimes gain more runes they develop tastes. I would discuss this with your Dungeoneer."

"I'll be sure to do so, thanks."

>The pair bump into Lily. Lily speaks in slimish, as usual. Matron speaks back in her native tongue. The two have a rather long conversation.

>Matron says something that makes Lily take a step back and gasp. She yells at Matron who calmly replies.

>Lily storms off.

"... What was that?"

"Nothing important."

"It requires some sounds that the human tongue can not make. But, you can get close to it.I suggest learning how to talk with your mouth filled with water, first."

>They continue exploring. Mary shows off the shops while Matron suggests that they should work on making the store front more attractive and attention grabbing.

"I'll be sure to work on that next. Oh, are there any slimes I should avoid creating?"

"Hmm... There aren't any I could think off of the bad. You want to avoid obvious ones like Salt Slimes or Oil Slimes."

"Oh. I... May have already created an oil slime."

"You WHAT!? Bring them to me now!"

>Mary summons Oilivia. The slime appears a few moments later. The Matron looks genuinely surprised.

>She speaks to her in hectic slimish and Oilivia responds in a calming manner.

"She says you fixed her?"

"Uh, yeah. I noticed she wasn't very happy so I put more runes into her until she stabilized."

We have noticed in our dungeons, that balancing fun vs difficulty has been somewhat of a challenge. Especially on non-boss encounters. With slimes being the way they are, the more runes you have the more scary they can become for adventurers. What do you usually do to keep the scales from being weighted to heavily in the wrong direction?

As you have a heavily themed dungeon yourself, how do you approach too much powergaming of the systems you have provided. Slimes, while resilient have noticeable weaknesses. We've been working on ideas to add a few different monster types here and there to provide variety, but worry about the sacrifices to theme. Any tips?

Oh, that reminds me. Just putting this out there for voices to ruminate over. For the sake of Mary having to be an end boss, I have an idea of how she can be something like that and it still be lore friendly.

Basically have her as something of an 'NPC' or the sort near Curi's boss room, maybe you could be something of a tip giver or the sort. She would be the one to accept the keys or whatnot to allow access to the queen under the guise of being an advisor or something. After the fight, THAT'S when Mary walks in ala cutscene, says sonething ala 'Well done...however, I cannot allow this opportunity to pass' and THEN she strikes, pops Audit immedieately, and her fight starts.

You let that Jeffrey alone! He's been here longer than anyone, except maybe Ms. Bloops. Speaking of, Matron should say hi to our most senior citizen. She probably has plenty of knowledge to share about the dungeon and its history.

That would be just the greatest thing. And would keep us going with the lore we keep work-shopping.

It's also why we should try to keep Jeffrey. It kind of helps anchor the tale we're trying to tell.

Though with some of this new info, we'll probably have to work things around a bit. Which was to be expected since we're about to go through a big expansion anyways. Ironing out the lore for a continual plan isn't a bad idea. Not to mention we have to take in to account the suggestions of Slime Matron w/respect to stores and what not.

Probably going to do another pass through of the threads to figure out some of our other things, like that item list PDF I still have. Seeing as some items have been stated from our last dungeon raid.

Actually us reporting it is not only less likely to prompt an investigation but it also gives us the ability to do it on our own terms and avoid the issues an adventurer reporting it would entail. If an adventurer or even a malicious DM like our neighbor reports it we won't have any forewarning.

Have we considered what mary's final boss fight would actually look like?
She's not becoming a demon, so it would have to be something a bit out there.
Like a remote-control giant robot.
Or some kind of chess deathmatch or something.
I mean, ideally, she'd have some way of doing boring paperwork to destroy the adventurers, but I have no idea how to do that.
>>
No. 874121 ID: ad51b8

well since she can take people's items from them as her class skill I figured her boss fight would be where she would be behind some kind of barrier where adventures couldn't attack her unless they deal with the mobs sent after them or managed to do some kind of puzzle to reach/defeat her while she keeps removing the adventure's items making the fight even tricker.

So in short I'm thinking she'd be some kind of puzzle boss since she really doesn't have much go for her in any combat sense that I'm aware of... unless we want to have Curi or someone teach her how to fight.

I mean, we have to pull something cool off eventually, but I don't want her to be in combat either.

Though, it might be neat to stick her in like, a carnival dunk-tank. Instead of throwing things at the target, the heroes have to get past the puzzle bullshit.

This is almost entirely so the heroes, if they beat the puzzle, get the satisfaction of dunking an auditor and their paperwork, which I hope is satisfactory enough to stem murder hobos.

She could also be the support in a minion heavy boss fight. Like have D-Fence and O-Fence play bodyguard while Mary removes Key Equipment (swords from the warrior, bow from the archer, staff from the mage, ect.)

She could also 'Equip' The Novice's Guide to Weapons/Novella and have it act as her weapon. She could probably use her audit to steal the weapons to add to Novella and it could do most of the fighting as she holds it. Add in another minion to carry her around to do the dodging for her and then you have a pretty hectic boss fight.

I honestly don't think Mary needs to be an end boss. As a non-slime, non-demon, she doesn't exactly fit in the dungeon's theme at all without some hefty lore engineering.

If it were to need to happen for some reason, though...
> Mary appears in her formal dress, and offers her sincere congratulations for the adventurers continued progress and success.
> The dungeon isn't complete yet, she informs them. There are still mysteries that have yet to be unraveled, and that will take time.
> She sees their disappointment. So for now, for the brave of the foolish she offers one final challenge, winner take all.
> The boss fight music kicks in as Mary unsheathes her sword and the gold slime armor forms up around her.

Mary's battle going forward is a boss fight against everything slime crown has left to offer. Roughly ankle high water fills the room and ripples as water begins crashing down from an array of alcoves high on the wall and to all sides.

Of course, we know that Mary isn't much of a warrior. That's why the main challenge of the fight is actually getting a swing at her. At any time, she can use her armor and some added magic to vanish into the floor, all available hands from the rest of the dungeon then splashing down from the waterfalls on all side before going in to fight the adventurers.

She reappears briefly at intervals to use "Rule of Law", which fundamentally changes the rules of the room and forces the adventurers to constantly change their pace. During these periods, she is vulnerable, but she eventually begins summoning duplicates and using slime core infusions to dynamically change her own abilities and make the fight harder.

By the end, she'll be slamming them around with gravity, causing them to explode with her mind, setting them on fire, electrocuting them, and stopping time for brief instances.

Congratulations! If you beat Mary here, you might stand a chance against Jeffrey.

No. 874128 ID: ad51b8

The idea I had for Mary's boss fight would be to kinda keep her locked in a gilded cage (as a way to poke fun at the idea that she's basically a prisoner here) and have said cage on a platform over a raging river or something to keep adventures from just jumping up to her as well as a barrier to keep magic and range using adventures from just sniping her too early in the fight. first phase of the fight Mary "summons" a mini boss like creature to chase away the adventurers that they need to use in a puzzle to raise some more platforms to reach Mary, this sets off an alarm and starts phase 2 where slimes start rushing in as well and the adventures need to slay the 2 with keys to turn off the magic barrier to actually be able to reach Mary. The last part of the fight comes down to wether or not Mary can actually fight because if so last part is she fights and is slain or if not have it be that the adventures need to figure out a way to knock the cage into the river.

Lore wise Mary was captured by the slimes, betrayed them at some point, or something and was cursed to be trapped within the slime citadel forever. Whatever the reason the lore could hint that she's been trapped here since before the beast showed up and the slimes of old not knowing how to run a kingdom needed her help hence why she's here and currently with Curi being needed to keep the beast at bay the slimes still turn to Mary to help run what is left of their kingdom so even from a cell Mary still kinda rules slime Citadel since everything needs to go through her.

Doubt we'll ever get the funds to make something so elaborate as that anytime soon but figured their was no harm in sharing the idea. Also probably counting my chickens before they hatch here seeing as we still don't have any DM equipment yet and without know what kind of bullshit that stuff can do could lead to other boss ideas instead.

I'd like to make Curi a six rune monster just to thank her for all her hard work and eventually move her up to Extra Boss. She's constantly getting more ridiculous as we unlock more slimes, so it might be good to promote Lily and Reginald, Slimon and RSP or the princess trio to final boss status.

I'd rather not move Curi to an extra boss room yet as she is still our most consistent end fighter and we can make her stronger with additional slimes even without more runes.

For now I'd actually like to expand to non-slime monsters in our dungeon (gasp). Maybe some skellingtons like Lord Savage would like with additional themes like a lava area, undead, forestry, etc. Of course we can still include our own slimes in these areas as appropriate.

When we have multiple layers it will be extremely unlikely for most players to get 100% of the way through. At that point we might be more comfortable promoting Curi to "extra boss" level.

Final boss idea:

The adventurers have to file complicated paperwork for their "defeat the boss" application, while simple cloth slimes, string slimes, and music slimes. Or maybe just waves of Bloops clones.

However, the whole time Mary is auditing them for every paperwork mistake they make or law they break, taking gold, then items, and eventually even skills.

If they can successfully submit a proper application for defeating Mary before they're so weak that they can be defeated by single-rune slimes, Mary approves their paperwork and they win.

Ask if being in the guild gives you revival privileges, and if the second dungeon you have available can be completely unrelated to your first.

Assuming Mary can become a boss, she’d still be extremely out of place in the citadel. If we want her to be a boss, we should build the new dungeon around her.

Therefor, I propose “Souless Inc.” A corporation themed dungeon that appeals to stealth adventurers (but with options still available to those less inclined) and people who like sticking it to the man in general. (See about getting your title changed to something like “Execuitive of the Souless,” even if the second dungeon doesn’t happen,) We can even start cramming more sponsorships in; the more distracting and invasive the advertising, the more it actually adds to the lore of the place, complete with low-level-friendly shopping center as the face (concealing a more sinister place, for the curious).

Heard there was a hiatus. Hope whatever it is gets better.

I worry about the first two rooms. The cuddle-pit is just a pit of core-less slime. They are all comfortable, but is it creepy? Ms. Bloops is cute, but as the oldest slime she should be respected? She is more like a pet or mascot. Matron might think she is being kept small to stay cute...

Hmmm. . . You know, I have an interesting idea. It takes a part of having multiple layers with different themes, but a bit different. How about instead of doing different themes of slimes, we just have each layer have a different theme? The first theme was slimes, how about our next theme is the undead. Each theme's stage could have a different level cap, meaning we could change the base difficulty at a whim if asked. We can't do slimes, so how about being the only dungeon that you can change what the theme is, we could even alter it so raid mode forces you to have to go through all of them. I think the Max should be 4 themes, one for each direction, just to keep it simple.

Slime Idea (before we start focusing on a new dungeon.

Water+water+magnet+law = Slime Protector

It roams the entire dungeon and hunts down those that have anti-slime attacks (oil, salt, electric) and those unnecessarily cruel to slimes. Magnetic powers repeal electric attacks, and water blasts wash away salt and oil attacks. It leaves alone those that haven’t harmed any slimes during the dungeon run, or have used attacks that slimes are resistant/immune/benefit from (ex: water). Made to discourage against cheesing the dungeon with anti-slime attacks, so they should use those moves sparingly.

Maybe replace one water with metal though, for resistance to oil and salt.

There are easier ways anyway. It has been clearly demonstrated that as a business owner, she can get anyone fired by announcing their employment during an interview. Mary can just hold a mass interview, frame it as a self-help seminar or something where large groups of people make personal declarations, sell it as some sort of management retreat, and get 99% of their management fired in a single instant, then send them all to the rune-mines until the business folds.

Destroying Drachma Bank isn't difficult, making them feel karmic justice, and getting Mary out of her predicament, are the difficult parts.

"Of course."

"So, my final boss is a bit 'too' strong. Any way I can fix that?"

"Usually that's not a problem. Let me see."

>The taps away at a screen that Mary can't see and examines it for a while. Her eyes narrow and she flicks the air.

"Oh, I see the problem." She says. "You have her at unrestricted. Right now she has access to all her powers and is free to use them as she wishes, even if you tell her to do otherwise."

"Is that a problem?"

"It is if you want to scale difficulty. You can have her set to Obey, which will completely strip her of her ability to fight on her own in a boss battle but give you direct control or set her to Restricted, where she will only use powers you authorize. When they enter the boss battle room, or even before, just select her and start deselecting/selecting powers you want her to use. Like so."

>She makes the screen visible to Mary and teaches her how to restrict abilities.

Last time we spoke to her, she still wants to do go through with it, she’s just still trying to decide what rune she wants put in her.

Quick question. If we were to form and adventuring party like Curi did during the christmas special. We'd be able to just appear outside the dungeon they wanted to invade right? I can't recall if that's how it worked last time or if Curi and friends just hoofed it because it did seem they got their rather quick. Well if it does work by having the adventuring party fast travels to the dungeon once they get accepted we could just call Hemlock's dungeon after awhile, have her be in the adventuring party then once we show up just drop her off and then leave the dungeon. That way we can take her home and nobody needs to make a round trip.

You could ask Dungeoneer for ideas of how you can finagle some new runes without spending any real resources. For instance, try taking a couple of door knockers, glue them together, and see if converting them yields a non-metal rune.

Or fill a chest with some miscellaneous items and convert that booty into runes.

More options are always good.

It's time to finally upgrade Alex. Perhaps this will appease Belladonna's apprehension about your runelessness somewhat. For relevance to Slimecrown's current theme, I would suggest the Water rune, but really the Aqua rune instead so we could do some perfectly ethical human experimentation at the same time. For relevance to you, though, maybe another Law rune is a good choice. For sheer strength of rune, however, I'd give her the World rune. That seems to be the strongest one we have on hand. Regardless of first rune choice, give her a Container rune as her second so she can act as a magical filing system. The first rune choice is a tough one, so maybe consult Dungeoneer before confirming the decision.

Our mimic:chest ratio is too high, and that's a large part of why they're so ineffective (the part we can control, anyway). Add more chests, and fill them with small mana/stamina boosts to avoid overlap with the healing products in YUM chests. Maybe some temporary stat boosters too, for variety?
Create a third type of mimic, too: Psion-Mimic. If adventurers are too smart to fall for the old mimic trick, the solution is to make them dumber! Add a Space rune too so it can swap with other chests. A true mimic miniboss, with an appropriately increased reward for beating.

Also, how far away are we from Dungeoneer III, money and discount-wise?

We don't have any 6-rune monsters and you want to be able to make 7-rune monsters already? Also, Dungeoneer III is always 5k, no discount.

Unless you meant Archiver III? In that case, we're at 20k - 3k = 17k.
Add a rune each to Giselle, Germaine, Ashley, Rosalyn, Colt and Simon, and we're suddenly 6k closer. Remember that boss-level monsters can still fight in non-boss capacity in a weakened state, so we aren't really changing much. So, I guess the real question is what can we build right now to get us where we want to be. Unfortunately if my math is correct, we are cash rich, but rune poor. Which means we could expand, but not really fill with decor and monsters like we might want to.

That said there are a few things we could do. We could change the opening puzzle. Its done us well, but it might be time for a change. At the very least we should see what cash/rune costs it would be to make it. We could also save it for one last princess run and then close up shop to build the massive expansion. I will copy paste what I had in the discussion thread shortly.

With the runes that we do have there are only a few things I would like to do.
>Give one to dungeoneer as we did not do so at the end of last thread.
>Decorate some rooms with either purchases or runes. My personal suggestion is Curi's boss room. Maybe some columns or something to give some more dynamic areas to fight in.
>Combine Gem+Water to make a Jelly Gem, an item that can be used as a restorative potion of sorts or be cashed in for 15 Slimecrown tokens this item can be placed in the dungeon where we see fit. We can also replace the 5 token drop on Curi's table with this item.

In addition, lets look to making sure we have Slime Crown Tokens, Yum Boxes and Cash are placed around the dungeon equally. Bulk Mage mentioned improving token drops, so we should look at that. Along with starting to not be cheap on rewards. Reserve 1-1.5k gold to use as rewards.

Then we can probably use a combination of the slimes we have to clean up after the toxic sister.

Alright here is the jist of it.

The principle of it would be like this image here, which will help visually explain it as well.

So, adventurers are walking along the path to the citadel, until they come to the moat, that is currently retracted, or something similar. The adventurers see the walls are occupied by a small squad of slime archers on watch atop the parapet. There is also a small stand with a button, clearly visible, that smart adventurers realize is the mechanism used to connect the bridge to the other side of the wall.

Adventurers now have the choice to do one of the following things:
>Try to reason with the slimes to open the gate and extend the bridge (surprisingly easy, so long as they are given a good reason)
>Jump/Fly the gap or use magic to get across and press the button
>Notice that there is a great number of rocks scattered about their side of the moat, they come to the realization that they can throw the rocks, hitting the button and activating the mechanism (for the purpose of this puzzle, projectile weapons and items like Psion's orbs would also work.

If adventurers choose option 2 or 3, the button activates, but an alarm also sounds. The gate will open, to reveal a small squadron of slime soldiers. The archers will also begin to fire arrows at the party.

Those that used their own powers are now isolated and have to defend themselves while the bridge slowly extends across the moat.

If the party used projectiles, they get to watch as their path is now blocked by the afformentioned squad.

The squad of slimes goal is to push the players back onto the bridge and either kill the players, or push them into the comfy moat and let the comfy slimes do the job for them.

Adventurers that are able to resist the slimes in the moat, may find the secret room, which contains one or all of the items listed in the diagram, I'm kind of favouring the idea of adhesive boots just because it does allow players to get back into the fray should they not have a rope/are fighting solo.

The players must then defeat the slimes blocking their path, and either defeat the archers or run straight in and press button 2, which deactivates the alarm, and removes aggro from the wall.

The result is that we now have a more dynamic fight that adds a sense of danger, but still rewards players for thinking creatively, and the added danger of the comfy moat means that higher level adventurers now have something else to challenge them and keep them on their toes. And I think this can make the puzzle seem like less of a chore.

In addition not included in this image. I think we add some scattered rocks in the comfy moat that function as 'stepping stones' that lead to the secret room. Not too many so that people just cross using the stones, but enough to make it seem like its random and not leading to the secret in this dungeon.

One more thing I forgot to suggest with buying items for runes...

>Asking the Chef if he has a chicken or something. We could get Feather Runes for future winged creatures, maybe even harpies for the colosseum?
>A Candle for Wax runes. I don't know if that will do any good right now, but maybe there is some decorative purposes for it. We need to spruce up the place
>Pelts for Fur Runes also for decoration as well as making animals that aren't slime based or made of glass if we do the whole glass horse idea
>Lizards Scales for Scale runes, same reason I want Feather or Fur. Need those so we can make all sorts of animals
>A Potted Plant, which we could technically rune for both Clay and Plant runes, I completely forgot we did not have plant runes, thinking we had it because Rosa and Ashley are more plant based, but they used wood runes.

>Is there anything we need to work on?
Breaking your curse to be in this dungeon for 100 years.

But since there’s nothing we can do about that for now, let’s focus on something else.

>Anything to do?
Figure out the placement of the 10 YUM! chests in the dungeon.

Find a way for you to breathe underwater so that you don’t have to worry about accidentally drowning whenever Curi decides to hug you.

Improving the rope swing room. It’s the only room in our dungeon that’s been the same for a while and I’m sure pretty much all the adventurers know how to beat it by now. We’ve gotta think of something that makes that room just a little different.

We’ve also gotta add in some lore on some of the items that our dungeon denizens are supposed to drop when defeated.

>The wait list to enter the dungeon is a mile long.
Don’t let in anyone that’s a suspiciously low level, we don’t want another repeat of that Level 1 Peasant coming in and glitching through the wall again!

Also, don’t let in anyone that’s below level 50, unless they’re on a team with people that are above level 65. We might feel good about ourselves for helping low level people improve and level up, but we’re not a charity, we can’t go easy on them every time.

>>883929
>No sense locking out people who can take it.
We’ll have to specify that Hemlock is to not be attacked for anyone that does go in. She’s our guest and it would be wrong if she gets attacked while she’s trying to relax.

On the contrary, I don't think we should restrict the level cap. Or at least, not so severely. I could understand keeping an eye out for cheating and hacks like that lv.1 villiager. But I think you are overestimating the level of our dungeon for adventurers of that level. I think most of the adventurers would plow throufg the dungeon with little challenge and we would actually lose money in handing out rewards. It may not happen all the time. But the risk is higher. Remember that 5 rune monsters=level 50. So unless the adventurers actually tried to fight Jeffrey, its at best a 50/50 shot that we take out enough to make it worth it to us financially. With the proposed expansion coming soon, we will want to keep some gold at the ready.

The other issue is that since almost all of our regular customers are not at the level that you would require for entry. We would be barring them from entering a dungeon that they enjoy and want to beat. Sure, they can come back at the appropriate level. But that could be a long time from now and would be a bad PR move, I believe.

I could see us suggesting posting an advisory about suggested levels (I.E cumulative level=50 suggested), but I can't really support an out and out ban.

Honestly, I'd be fine with a recommended level 30+ notice. we can nerf the dungeon if they start having real trouble, but do remember, the ~20 duo actually made it pretty far (with lots of help) The only reason I feel we should ban low levels is because they generaly have shit loot.

Wait, I thought all of the repeat adventurers that keep coming back were at least level 55 or higher?

I was thinking of them when I made that level cap, so that we wouldn’t be leaving them out.

Sorry, I suppose I should clarify. By rune poor I mean temporarily rune poor. Unless Mary reveals that we had an influx of runes made available to us after the meetings, we are sitting at about 8 runes. Its enough to make a few monsters, sure. But at this point it might be better to just use them for decorations, an item, and maybe for people like Dungeoneer and Alex if she wished to rune herself at this time.

And as it currently stands, Calculator actually has gotten us a bit of money now. She is currently sitting on a 3k pile and I believe we have only invested like. A grand. That and its investments, I expect gains to fluctuate with the market.

>>883962
Fair, though I should chime in and say that low level adventurers may have poor loot, but happy low level adventurers come back with BETTER loot. Not saying we shouldn't put the advisory up, but its definitely something to keep in mind.

As for things to do, please invert the Aqua and Thorn Runes. If Aqua does invert properly then we'll apparently have 2 incredibly rare runes to work with. Also consider adding some more runes to our NPCs for utility, like giving our shopkeeps Container and Space Runes for hammer-space functionality, or adding a Mithril Rune to Magnus?

If we're flush with funds maybe consider upgrading Chef? We've kind of been ignoring the guy.

Lastly, do something nice for Dungeoneer. You put her on the spot earlier with the other Dungeon Masters and the outfit she made for you got replaced, so she's probably feeling pretty down right now. Easiest thing would probably be letting her have another rune for herself; I'd suggest the Spa but it's not currently available right now with Hemlock in there. Maybe let her make another monster, if you really don't want her to have another Rune.

Anyway, I support upgrading the chef and inquiring about those tubers as well. If people do want to vote on creating a Room of Spirit and Slime, we could also use it as a sped up vegetable garden.

Okay. Keep Metal Slime away from Aberration. Depending on what they're doing we can send Metal Slime to deal with Keeper while Aberration is busy in the maze or fighting Lily and Reginald or something. Mind you, that's only after we see what their plan is. I suspect some kind of respawn familiar thing myself, but we should wait to see what it is.

Also I'm glad that Alex and Calculator are getting along, even if the latter was a bit frosty about it at first.

That said, if Aberration has already jumped ahead, let Mrs. Bloops interact with the Keeper, see if she can motivate him into action. Or at least hold a conversation with him.

Honestly, the best method of dealing with her is either locked doors or lots of CC. She seems to be a close ranged monster, so stunlocking or kiting her is still an option.

If she makes a turn to the Gravity Slime's Hall, try and advise the little guy to find a way to suspend her in mid-air where she can't get any foot/tendralholds to build speed.

Send Metal Slime to the entrance. Have him ram into the back of Keeper's Knees. Make sure he builds up speed first too, really knock him on his ass.

Distract/Draw Aberration, see if she'll make mistakes while Keeper is getting attacked. If she shows her back, take it.

Also, keep Isabelle in the Dungeon Master's Room and lock up the shops, might want to close off the Spa too so nothing happens to Hemlock.

Send in the metal slime. It will help create an opening for Ashley to attack by distracting the enemy.

See if you can direct the Metal Slime to show himself for a second to distract Aberration so Cleric Plant can try and use their vines to bind Aberration to the floor.

If they don't want resurrections or healing that's their prerogative. If they get their ass kicked by the healer then that's their shame.

We should just let the aberration do it’s thing. If this is this guy’s idea of fun, we may as well let him do his thing. He’s already triggered the bloops and Ashley difficulty spikes.

Now, once the aberration dies to a princess or something we’ll see what to do after that.

I'm thinknig we need to send a mobile force to take out this other fellow. Pretty sure they're the lynch pin to the other. I mean they killed bloops and are trying to kill the healer, Hard mode's on them I feel.

Well, we know that Metal slime is about the most harrasment we have for a mobile monster, everyone else kind of has to stay where they are. A part of me expects that so long as we get the handler to the princesses, we may be able to make it through okay.

As for Ashley, I guess the fight is on, I'd rather avoid it, because hey. Free gold, but it is what it is. We can probably get it off them later.

Ashley should try to restrain the Abberation with vines and try to do some sort of damage over time effects. Besides, we don't ever get to see what Ashley can do. At the very least, let them showcase.

Metal slime, eat that bitch's phone and run off with it. They are being rude, and we can probably use whatever rune is in there for something. Might be the gacha rune or some such.

As for Aberration, in the short term, Ashley has her own skills to fend this guys off. ALSO, and it's a big also, she has various healing and resurrection items in her inventory. She has permission to use all of them to fuck this person inside out.

If they still bulldoze through Cleric Plant, I'd say shut up shop everywhere else and just let them go for Curi. Of course, because they killed Bloops the end flag might have just moved to Jeffrey, but we can decide that after other cogs are in motion.

But the first room has Miss Bloops in it.

How did Keeper stay in the first room if Aberration moved to the next room and Miss Bloops was in that room?

Don't think anything has to be done. This thing doesn't seem to have the intelligence to beat any form of puzzle that can't be brute forced. I think the Keeper will have to enter the dungeon for any hope of finishing.

Personally if they just want to fight everything without a care to how the dungeon is supposed to be we may as well oblige them. We have a lot of fairly strong demons as NPCs and maybe some of them would like the opportunity to cut loose too.

I half expect them to just charge straight towards Curi though, which wouldn't be the worst thing I feel. Especially with them going after Ashley it's not like we should expect to earn anything here besides what we get from killing them.

Well this is boring. Let it rampage through until it comes up against one of the stronger bosses. Then we can see its true strength.

Actually, ramp up the minor encounters a bit. We need to see if this Aberration has any tricks up its sleeves before it takes on a boss.

That springboard needs replacing, perhaps with a teleport trap. Easier to guarantee a comfy landing that way.
Most people have to visit Cleric at least once before heading to Curi, so lock the door to the boss until they head to at least one of the princess' rooms and come back. Tell that princess to expect a fight instead of a party, and tell Rosa to put away her tea set.
Who knows, maybe the Aberration won't be able to read the sign and Keeper will be forced to move up.

Wait, no, we got kudos for making it so you could go solo the boss right away last time. After thinking about it, I think some of us have been messing with the players when they don't want to go through the dungeon the way we want to... and honestly, that's pretty shitty when you think about it from the players' perspective. We should cater to their playstyle, not hinder it because we don't like it.

I still want to make sure they go against Jeffrey, though. And maybe Ruth with her pick of baseballs.

Yes. We should allow players to approach the dungeon in multiple ways. Account for those who are just in it for the loot. Give them a challenge and a reward so that they come back and occasionally (or usually) die so we get stuff. We don't have to get mad and make them die every time.

Send Metal slime to "Investigate" Keeper
>>
No. 884388 ID: 074011

Can you get a better look at what Keeper is doing? It might be a game to pass the time, or it might be an observation device to keep track of Aberration. It might even be an observation device with a weird perspective, like overhead with transparent ceilings, which could let them see things you would not expect.

I wonder if metal slime could just run Abberation in circles until they faint from exhaustion.

Another thing to consider, neither of these adventurers seem to be having much fun. Keeper is idling and Aberration is cutting through then obstacles without getting a chance to play with them. We should try to push their formula without breaking them completely.

Politely send someone to the start of the dungeon, informing him that his friend is assaulting the healer.

Then offer him a stay in the spa with the other non-participants and hope he dies of nerve gas.

Hey, speaking of Rosa, aren’t Giselle (the maid) and Germaine (the butler) both 4 Rune slimes? If we can have them team up with Rosa, that might be a fight that Aberration can’t win solo.
