LOOK

[MONITOR: You are inside of the SHIP'S MAUSOLEUM. It is a relatively simple place, all things considered. There is a DEATH SLAB on the leftmost side of the room, it's the thing you were busy dying on. Good morning, by the way. There are MAUSOLEUM DRAWERS above that. They can't be opened, they appear to have long been RUSTED SHUT. This explains the CORPSE BAGS that are strewn about. Most of them are too big to pick up. Most of them. There is a DECOY DUCK in the corner. This could probably be used to bait something or other, but who knows what would go for something so complex. There is the BOARDED UP WINDOW. There is the rush of salty air from just beyond it, but the wood seems UNNATURALLY STRONG. There is a BROKEN LADDER. it is missing TWO SPOKES. looks like it's the only way out of here...]

[MONITOR: You look at the DECOY DUCK. It's incredibly realistic shape is an illusion that flow only sees through thanks to YOU. It seems useful enough, but you can't think of anything you'd do with it right now.]

LOOK

[MONITOR: Despite being a captain's quarters, there isn't very much here, is there? panning from left to right, there's THE TRAPDOOR TO THE MAUSOLEUM, which is where you just were. There's THE PATHWAY TO THE FRONT DECK just around the small cabin. Just through the door into the cabin, there is a small shelf with A MASON JAR OS DELICIOUS SPICES on it. Just underneath that, there is THE CAPTAIN'S LOUNGECHAIR. The standing captain of the ship usually sits here. the HEAVY WALL ANCHOR seems like it isn't going to budge whatsoever. Further to the right, there is a SLOT FOR A STEERING WHEEL. It appears that this boat currently has no steering. a little bit south of that, there's the LADDERS TO STORAGE. They look kinda funky, honestly.]

[MONITOR: At first glance, this figure appears to be in a fancy looking suit, but closer inspection reveals it's actually a part of their flesh. each one of the small buttons, the bow tie, anything that looks like it could be a functioning eye is one. The figure is short, and instead of a face, it's circular head only features a singular eye. When it speaks, it seems like the pupil of this eye vibrates like a speaker slightly.]

[PEEPSHOW: "The name's Peepshow. You lot probably figured that out the instant you started talking to me, though. I've seen Schistosomatidae Protagonissa before. ...It's still kinda creepy to watch you guys vibrate like vocal chords to talk, honestly. Oh, uh, Miss Eve, how are you feeling?"]

[flow:"...eve? Do you mean me? Is that my name?"

[PEEPSHOW: "...aaaah gods above. That blow must have been harder than we thought. We found you passed out in an alleyway, head halfway soaked in your own vomit. Some bandit must have gave you a good wack from behind and stole all your stuff. If you don't have any memory about who you were, I'm afraid you're shit outta luck. We've been calling you Eve because we hadn't a clue as to your real identity."]

>TOPIC; Where are we?

[flow:"Actually, yea, I had a bit of a question about that too. This place seems... weirdly familiar. have I been here before?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "Oh, dang, you're a foreigner, too. Well, fuck. That means you're probably going to have even more trouble. This here is the S.S. ASCENSION and no, you haven't been here before. To be more precise, that slight feeling of longing and nostalgia is a side effect of having entered Olam Ha-Ba. ...That's. That's the name of this realm, by the by. Olam Ha-Ba. Apparently if you're dead, you can perceive stuff like. Land. and. Food. and. Places to sleep, around here. But since we're technically 'alive', it's mostly just a big void above Ginnungagaap. Which is also a big void. I guess this one has clouds? So it makes it better? I don't see the difference, honestly."]

[flow: "...Um. When you say alive, and dead, do you mean that I was-"

[PEEPSHOW: "Oh absolutely, you were dead as a doornail. No idea how you came back to life. I figured something had to have happened for us to stall, though, so I suppose this makes sense."]

[flow: "...If I was already dead when you found me, why bring me on board in the first place?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "Those Flukes in your head cost quite a pretty penny in every realm 3 gateways from here at LEAST. I wasn't about to just let money go down the drain. Of course, I'm not a slaver, so now that you're alive again, I'll have to give up on that. Eh. Small price to pay for not starving to death in an endless expanse of clouds, I suppose."]

>TOPIC; Food

[flow:"...urgh, yes, I'm... very hungry. If you could perhaps spare some--"]

[PEEPSHOW: "Don't have any."

[flow: "what?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "I don't have any food. I don't need to eat technically. If you need food, you could always talk to the chef, but they've holed up with the angler. They refuse to come down until they've caught something, and they won't even throw the rope down to let me up anymore. It's a hassle. If you can get that Angler to toss down a rope, I'll even let you take my Jar of Spices. I don't need it, after all."]

It seems likely that we did indeed escape Ginnungagap, and Olam Ha-Ba is "heaven". Unfortunately now we're alive so we've only halfway completed the ascension. Reaching true heaven will not be as easy as dying, either. We must live a virtuous life, or be condemned to hell once more. Or maybe at this point we'll just wind up in Gunnungagap again... well, we should get more info before making any conclusions there.
Also, priority one is food, not philosophy or religion.

>Topic; THE ANGLER

[PEEPSHOW:"That ol' Coot used to be a certified Demon, but the idiot chose to shirk their name, and instead chose to focus on fishing instead. They did it for so long the name Angler stuck, and now it's all they do. Practically all they are. Don't seem to mind in the slightest, o' course, but in this humble Angel's opinion, they've got a screw loose. Don't even have a gender. tut tut."]

[flow: "Is that.... bad?"]

[PEEPSHOW:"Course not. I don't have one of those either. What IS a problem is that they can't CATCH anything. There's not exactly any BAIT around here to be honest. I'm not even certain what it is they'd even CATCH to begin with. Honestly, I don't want to think about what they'd end up catching."]

>Topic; S.S. ASCENSION

[PEEPSHOW: "Ah, yes, the S.S. ASCENSION, one of the finest Heaven Trawlers this side of the Nirvana Gate! Or, it WOULD be, if it wasn't one of the oldest ships in service, and frankly just kind of bad. Hypothetically, this sucker should be able to breach into Real World. But I don't see that happening ANYTIME soon."]

[flow:"Real... World?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "Untapped potential. The Id. The Source, so to speak. People have long since desired to have truly free will, absolute power over their body and form. It is what we seek constantly, living and dead. Until we reach it, the endless cycle of rebirth continues."]

>Topic; MAGUS SYMBIOTE

[flow:"You said a fancy word earlier, that I think was the species. How could you tell?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "Magus Symbiotes are common enough. Most folks will have one or two they've accumulated over their lifetime, unless they're... Not the exploratory type. They give you cool abilities, but usually replace a body part. Like Macrocheles Ignisorii just functioning as a new hand. A new FIRE hand! Yours is just, uh. Expensive. And dangerous."]

>Topic; MISSING SHIP'S WHEEL

Anyway, the bones that compose it have been scattered around. Tell ya what, if you manage to bring me 1 of the 3 bones, I'll even let you down into Storage."]

[flow: "Why don't you do it?"]

[PEEPSHOW: "I'm lazy. I have a lot of problems I have to think about. I got in a big fight on a discord server I liked and I left in a huff so now I have to weigh the options of whether or not I should rejoin it, or if that would make me look like a pansy."]

In fact, there is a RAGING INFERNO in there, instead. it looks like ONE OF THE BONES FOR THE SHIP'S WHEEL is in the middle of said flames, but it doesn't look like it'll be DYING DOWN any time soon. There must be some method to put it out... there's a CORPSE CHILD underneath a parasol. Looks like it'd be having some fun in the sun, if it weren't... yknow. Dead. a BAITLESS HOOK hangs lazily from somewhere up above, swaying gently in the wind.]

[MONITOR: The fire in the middle of the otherwise concrete swimming pool crackles menacingly. From what you can tell, it doesn't really seem to have any sort of.. fuel source, instead seeming to be generated as though some sort of semi-present force was around. It has completely enveloped a seemingly obsidian black bone, which seems perfectly fine despite the oppressive heat.]

[MONITOR: The distorted looking parasols and umbrellas that emerge periodically from the ground appear to be composed of some sort of vaguely dark metal. It's not anything recognizable, however, as it seems to feel like the opposite of plastic, whatever that feels like. The tarps that are stretched over them appear to be made from the skin of an animal that was never born and never died.]

Hmm, that's two ways we can get the spices? Either trading two corpse children, or getting them to lower a rope. I'm not sure what else we could use the corpse children for, but let's see what they want before they'll lower a rope.
Take the corpse child that's right there, and ask them to lower a rope. And also, food please.
Maybe we can't talk to them though, I don't see an option to do so.

LOOK

[MONITOR: The CROW'S NEST is actually a set of platforms that have been carefully set up surrounding the BALLOONS. They're SURPRISINGLY STURDY all things considered. There is a PILE OF ABANDONED ELECTRONIC JUNK here. It looks like some of these doohickies might power SOMETHING OR OTHER, but frankly you're not certain what any of them do. There is a MASSIVE HUNK OF MEAT sitting out on a surprisingly clean looking platform. It looks like it would be delicious if SPICED PROPERLY. There is a MASSIVE CRANE which looks like it's designed to lift something extraordinarily heavy. Not in use, though.]

[MONITOR: This figure looks kind of weird at first glance. Their coat appears to be part of their body, a mass of flesh that seems to function halfway between an actual overcoat and a slug's foot. The distinctive 'hat' with the 'antennae' are also a part of the body. Closer inspection reveals that they're actually Rhinophores, like a Nudibranch would have. This realization is supplemented by the secondary realization the 'ruff' of the coat is external gills, like an axolotl or seaslug.]

[MONITOR: It is hard to tell whether or not this figure is a person, a plant, a frog, or all three. The 'astropuff' hairdo is, upon closer inspection, actually some form of melon. The chest, midriff, thighs, and upper arms also appear to be made of some sort of distinct fruit flesh, as opposed to the lower legs, upper arms, and the majority of the head being covered in a 'rind'.]

>Topic; CORPSE CHILDREN

[flow: "To be entirely honest, i'm not entirely sure what a corpse child is myself? or... why peepshow would even want one? Could you fill me in on the details there?"]

[ANGLER: "Well. Corpse Children are essentially the left-over husks of folks that have either ascended or descended a layer or two. They're brimmin' with deific power as a reult, so anyone that knows a simple enough ritual can warp reality with 'em to grant a wish. The smaller the wish, the less likely it'll go monkey's paw. ...Course', the more children ya got, the less likely that monkey's paw result will also happen, so. Getting more than one means y' can make a more powerful wish. I would guess... about three would be necessary to make it so Carly could speak Fanglish, for example. Not that you would... need that. I can translate just fine."]

[flow:"huh... Well. That explains why we would have given some to peepshow, I guess..."]

>Topic; FISHING TIPS

[flow: "...What, uh... what is it exactly you can catch up here?"]

[ANGLER: "Well, up at this height I might catch a Throne if I'm lucky, though Leviathan and Unfathomed are still possible. Might snag a star. Clouds are common catches, though Peepshow says that they ain't healthy for the ship to keep on account 'o the rain. Catchin' a cumulonimbus is easier when they're small, and ideally the hook won't snag a cyclone."]
