Special AI interface "Legion" installing...

Installed.

Please enjoy the GILB-certified Legion decisivity module, installed by Dr. Delarosa. Now examining vital statistics.
Name: Anthony Sire
Age: 18
Specialties: N/A
Abilities: N/A
Goal: To participate in a Gearhead Match against elder sibling Sarah and acheive victory.

Thought link-up starting....

Now.

Ugh, they aren't kidding about the sting.

I hope this was worth the money. That job at Carl's is not something I want to repeat. Let me see here, what was the command to get you folks going...

Oh, I'll remember sooner or later. My name is Anthony, and I'm 18. Today is the day I've decided to enter the wonderful world of the League. Mom's angry as hell but, hey, I have to have some talent. I mean, my sister got to be a Cog in a year and a half!

So I need to decide... Entertainment circuit, or Military?

Well, I suppose I like the sound of entertainment more, then. Good thing I saved enough for a, MCU and got a license a few weeks back. Of course, the hard part is going to be buying parts... not that I don't have the money, it's just hard to decide is all.
Should I head out to the store first thing, or stay a while and eat a meal?

"I'm actually planning to purchase, Ashley."
She visibly brightens up and smiles.
"Oh, well then! We have two ways to buy: Completed kits designed by professionals like myself and my father, and purchasing the parts themselves. Kits are slightly more expensive but easier to use."

Well, lets hear what the kits she offers are first, then take a look at the parts.

"I'd like to see your fits first."
"Oh, sure. At rookie level play... Well, the only kit we have for that is the Raptor. It's fast, but the only armament it comes with is the missles, which require a lock-on. The longer you're locked on, the more you fire at once, however. It also comes with small arm units which you can either equip with a small weapon, or you can remove them yourself for increased speed. Sorry, other than that, it's self-build."

She pauses.
"I, uh... I can help you out with that after work, if you like..."

Hm..... especially considering non-kit could be cheaper, let's reject the rookie kit.

We can put together a better suit, for cheaper, too.

I think.

Ask for a catalog of all parts. Even the ones that aren't available to you. Upgrade paths are more important than short-term viability.
Get descriptions and specifications; the more detailed the better.
Look up common designs and fighting styles.

Provide that information and we will tell you how to win.

As far as Ashley? Tell her "That would be great! Of course, I'd have to repay your help with dinner..."
>>
No. 141643 ID: b69168

>>141634

Hrm. Crude, but effective. We need to compare the price of this, to just skipping straight to the custom job stage, and build ourselves a complete unit. Also, what kind of combat range do you prefer, if any? Because if you don't want to play mid-to-long range artillery, we should forget the Raptor. It's capabilities seem limited in that regard.

>>141641
"Sorry. I can only offer to sell you stuff available at your level. Otherwise, the GILB will be on my ass faster than... well, I'll be in a lot of trouble." she sighs. "Here are the parts at your level."

With the money I have saved up, I can outfit one full MCU. I can only afford one expensive part.
ARMAMENTS:
Back-mounted missile launchers (hold 12, launch 4 with maxlock, mediocre damage)
Back-mounted heavy M. gun (two large machine guns. Heavy, rapid fire, hard to aim. expensive)
Anti-lockon gear (must be activated seperately. Cannot shoot other armaments while active.)
Anti Radar gear (see the lock on gear)
Extra Ammo containers (Shell, Missile, and Energy)
Rifle (three-shot magazine, single shot rate. Powerful, easy to aim. A common pick.)
Pistol (12-shot magazine, semi-auto. Not very powerful.)
Assault rifle (35-shot magazine, automatic fire. Equally powerful to the pistol, but pumps out rounds quickly.)

COCKPITS:
Head (Harder to hit, heavier armored, but no ejection system available)
Chest (heaviest armor. No inherent sensors, must install in 'head'. ejects out back, opens frontal)
Crotch (Lightly armored, comes with good sensor pack. easiest to hit. Ejects and opens out front)

ARMS:
Bruiser (Heavy arms capable of more torque and holding ability, heavy armor)
Sharpshooter (Precise arms made for long-range combat, light armor)
Median (Average in all respects)
M. Gun (Two high-cal machine guns, with extra ammo in shoulder area. No reload time. innacurate.)
Energy Blast (low-level energy cannon, attaches to front of core. prone to overheat and failure, but powerful enough to completley destroy some arms and legs.Expensive.)

CORE:
Heavy (Very thick armor. Can take Head and Crotch cockpits.)
Median (average armor, can take all cockpit styles)
Speedster (Light armor, can only take chest cockpit)

LEGS:
Thunderer (heavy armor legs. Slow. Reduces recoil on heavy arms and continuous fire. Comes in biped and quadruped style. Recoil reduction even better on quad.)
Digitigrade (low-medium armor. fast. No recoil reduction. Biped only.)
Median (Average speed and armor, comes in biped and quad.)
Hover (VERY Fast, but recoil increases. unstable and can overload. Expensive.)
Tread (Slow. Best recoil reduction on the market level.)

OPTIONAL (all these parts are expensive, but not required.)
Speed feet (adds a much higher rate of movement at the cost of stability. Cannot be equipped to parts that do not have feet.)
Punch Mod: Spikes (Adds spikes to the mech's palm. Upon contact, the spike shoots out on a rod, penetrating and impaling.)
Punch Mod: Piston (Like spikes, but with a heavy, flat surface)
Extra Lock on computer (Allows you to lock onto two targets, even on the same robot)

"Most people like to go for Median built, chest cockpit, and install a head-based sensory system. After that, the variance comes from the shoulders, hands, and personal tactics." she explains lazily. "I can explain these to you in greater depth, but please ask specifically."

She pauses when I tell her I'd like to take her out to dinner, and blushes slightly.

"...Save it for when you win your first tourney." she mutters quietly. "And survive."

There's an akward silence.
"So what will your loadout be?" she says finally.

Crude? Yes.
Effective? Not at all.

If those are seeking rockets than it's marginally acceptable at medium/long range. If they're just deadfire with targeting assist then it's only useful at medium range and firing all four shots is only worthwhile if your target is incapacitated or an idiot.
It has NO offensive capabilities at short range, and given the construction of those arms I'm pretty certain that its only usable CQC maneuvers are tackling and headbutting. Kicking, too, if you're either on your ass or willing to spend the rest of the match there due to the complete lack of an ability to right itself.
Sure it's got heavy armor for its class, but it lacks the ammo capacity to win a prolonged conflict. All that does for you is make it a slightly less idiotic idea to run INTO enemy fire in the hopes that you can crash into your opponent and, if you miraculously manage to stay on your feet, stomping on their cockpit until they panic and surrender.
I could go into the balance issues, but I don't see the point. You're looking at a practical joke they play on people who are too incompetent to enter the ring.

Build your own, save yourself the embarrassment of falling for this kind of hazing.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Well, a quick once over leads me to suggest a few possibilities depending on how you fight.
A speedster hover mech with energy blast and a heavy machine gun would be good if you've got good reflexes. Get in close and blast them from whatever side will knock them over, then just blast away at their cockpit.

If you're looking to be a tank, then I'd say go with back rockets, machine gun arms, treads, medium armor, and a chestpit. I would have said heavy, but then you've got the choice between a poorly armored crotchpit or being stuck without an escape plan.

>A speedster hover mech with energy blast and a heavy machine gun would be good if you've got good reflexes. Get in close and blast them from whatever side will knock them over, then just blast away at their cockpit.

That's a little expensive for me.

That's more like it. I'm almost willing to take a Heavy torso, but... you're right.

Considering everything, I'd really prefer safety over short-term payoffs.

Well, really I was commenting on over-all design, rather than the exact specifics of this model. And, against other, similar models, it probably does okay. And hey, you can do some kick ass things with just legs and torso, if balanced right. But you raise some good points. Basically, I see the Raptor as weak, but balanced. It supposedly has good armor and mobility, meaning it has good "endurance", but lacks the firepower to finish a fight quickly. With brains like us, a pilot could probably win a fight like that, assuming that the enemy doesn't have something that is wide-area and armor piercing.

But no, we wouldn't do it anyway. With no preferences, let's not make this harder than it has to be.

>>141651

Hrm, her suggestion is pretty good. Chest cockpit, Median parts, head. For your one expensive part, go for the shoulder mounted machine guns. Accuracy isn't an issue when you've got saturation, and they're a good pick for close-to-mid range. But only if you can get those AND another lighter weapon, like one of the rifles. I'm tempted by the thought of heavier core armor, but I don't know what that'll do to our mobility. Biped legs, FTW, also.

Oh, and one last thing. Can you tell us what the GILB is, besides a possibly oppressive authority figure?

>Can you tell us what the GILB is, besides a possibly oppressive authority figure?

GILB is the Gears International League of Battle. They oversee all aspects of this. They were created by the Treaty of Gears.

So it's either this (The Everyman), the Tank, or the... let's call the Energy Blast build Master Blaster.

So which one? In terms of difficulty of operation, from least to most, it goes Everyman, Tank, and Blaster.
>>
No. 141673 ID: 601a90

can you have 1 of each of 2 different arms? like a bruiser arm and a sharpshooter arm. with a assault rifle in them and the sharpshooter on the trigger. median chest with a cockpit in it. median legs and finally a piston in the bruiser arm. plan of attack would involve closing in while laying down suppressing fire. once we are in range we wail on them with the piston fist.

SAFETY FOR THE LONG RUN

ARMAMENTS:
Back-mounted missile launchers (hold 12, launch 4 with maxlock, mediocre damage)
Anti-Lockon Gear
Rifle w/ Extra Ammo containers (Shell)

COCKPIT:
Chest w/ head sensors

ARMS:
Bruiser

CORE:
Heavy

LEGS:
Thunderer

OPTIONAL:
Speed Feet

Basically, lightning bruiser, with anti-lockon to make using targeted weapons harder, and with it's armor, lighter weapons won't do much. Packs a punch, and with speed feet, is much more mobile than it should be.
>>
No. 141679 ID: d1210a

Oh, and heavy construction means it should be okay at melee (when we get attachments for them beyond fists), and speed feet could make getting into melee range much easier.

>>
No. 141696 ID: d1210a

>>141693
Machine gun arms means no punching, and with bruiser arms, that is still possible. With Speed feet, melee could be a huge thing for our mech, especially considering how durable it will be.

Maybe assault rifle instead of rifle for higher rate of fire so we can keep melee?

What exactly is the difference in penetration/damage between rifle and assault rifle?

Rifle has more penetration and range, Assault has more bullets fired.

Then I'd rather have Rifle still, for the heavier punch, Plus, speed feet will mean we can reposition quick, and that is more easily exploited with singular powerful rounds rather than spray

ARMAMENTS:
Anti-lock on, right shoulder.
Rockets, left shoulder.
Rifle, right hand.

ARMS: Bruiser.

Body: Median.

Core: Heavy

Cockpit: Chest (head sensors)

Legs: Thunderer

Optional: Speed Feet.

He's decked out for melee so your best shot against him is to screw over his hover unit before he closes the distance. If that's an anti-targeting system then there's no point in using missiles. A wise move on his part, since missiles are the most effective way to knock him over at range and the most likely to disrupt the hover unit.

It's too bad you can't mount custom equipment. If you could I'd just say mount a machine gun and a firetruck full of saline and spray into the bullet holes.

The nice thing about him being melee is that he can't do much at range, and you can cripple his attack if you get an energy blast off.

He's horribly unbalanced, so if you wanted to take the risk route then you could try hitting him with a low-kick or a sliding smash so he'll pitch forward and faceplant. If you can follow that up by jumping on behind his torso then you could just grab his arms to keep him from tossing you and dance on his back until he falls.
>>
No. 141778 ID: 601a90

Then let's not set up our mech to counter his. A general build is good. We did agree on a few things:

Core: Median.
Cockpit: Chest (head sensors)
Legs: Thunderer
Optional: Speed Feet.

It's the arms and weapons we disagree on. I guess taking Bruiser arms and an Assault Rifle would make for a pretty flexible build. Shoulders could be Anti-lockon or anti-radar gear. Or maybe some extra ammo?
>>
No. 141797 ID: 601a90

if we could hide and use anti-radar we could get the jump on him and land on the lump his mech calls an ass.

>>141796
Yeah, I'm thinking of taking a Rifle. My stability with thunderers is pretty damn good at this point, and the rifle is nice and accurate. Not to mention his sensors are in the head... like most models. A good shot might render them inoperable, and then he'll have to navigate open-chested, or surrender.

I'll propose this:

Core: Median.
Cockpit: Chest (head sensors)
Legs: Thunderer
Optional: Speed Feet.

With Anti-lockon, and missiles, and a rifle.

Sound good?

Seeing as how our mech is oriented around mobile firing with the rifle and speed feet, maybe spend some time both try to shoot while moving, trying out the speed feet, and then once competent enough with both, try shooting while moving with the speed feet.

If she has any setup with moving targets we can use, restart the whole shooting process again with them and once more work your way up to shooting while mid speed foot )can we get a title for using Speed Feet?)

Our goal is to at least hit a moving target three times in a row while using speed feet by the end of the day (or lacking mobile targets, against a smaller target) That should leave early evening to figure out how to use the bruiser arms and heavier construction for melee grappling/fighting, at least for basic use of a mech in said melee.

If you can somehow get to work on all that, then you should be golden for tomorrow.

Pilot death is indeed instant win, but the money reward is reduced. This stems from when it was so common that it was tradition that the winner pay for the funeral and give some money to the family. Cool, at least you can handle getting into and out of a mech on your own with kneeling now, yeah?

Helps to be capable of autonomy.

How quick can you get your desired target and the reticle for your rifle to match? As in, how long does it take you to get a reasonable amount of accuracy, in terms of sighting?

This is something that can get neglected when one is trying to improve in many directions at once, but is critical to work on, as it's the foundation of marksmanship.

So without using rounds, spend the rest of your time until she gets back practicing aiming.

And how well do you know both the types of eateries around the area, and how well do you know her preferences?

All right. After all that, I have 400 dollars remaining. It's just the two of us, so... Well, we can go anywhere. Let's see...
There's some local fast food chains, then there's like five or six restaurants. The most expensive would probably eat up a fourth of what I have.

Rendevous:
Luxuriant, high-brow, and expensive as hell.

The Wild Garden:
A step below the Rendevous, casual, with great decor and food.

Herley's Place:
Very large servings, quiet atmosphere, wide variety.

And the rest are just takeout and chinese and the like. Not really worth the time, in my opinion.

I lean Burn down, and get out, turning him off. I place the keys in my back pocket.

The small, flimsy hands usually carry a small sidearm, and it is a lot faster than most other, no, all other mechs at this tier, barring a few special cases. It's designed to play hide-and-seek with the enemy, popping out to launch four missiles and then go into hiding again. If you take the optional gear available to Proven, (that is, those who have won a fight) the secondary targeting system lets them shoot some projectiles from the air with the small sidearm. Well, that can be hard to do when YOUR PARENTS ARE WORRIED ABOUT PILOT DISCONNECT, and you choose as your means to deal with this to NOT TELL THEM THINGS THUS PLAYING STRAIGHT INTO THEIR FEARS.

Look, I know telling them sounds like it would suck, but think about this:
---Eventually, they are going to find out.
---When they find out, if you are NOT the one they find out from, your situation gets worse.
---Trying to keep this a secret from your parents can be stressful and distracting, neither of which is something you want cluttering your mind when your getting into a match.
--People have already recognized your anme at least to some degree, if you gain fame SOMEONE is going to start drawing comparisons between you and your sister, and your parents will know anyway.

Now, I'm not saying tell them right now, but tell them after your first match tomorrow. If you lose, well shit, they might not be so mad, and it will help in that situation to have been honest with them.

But since you aren't going to lose, be ready to tell them something along the lines of

'I'll prove that piloting Gearheads doesn't mean I'll lose my bond with you and everyone else, and I'll prove it by being a loving son while even while rising up the rankings to eventually bring Sarah home.'

Even if they don't want to support you, make it about showing you love your family, said love will be part of victory, and that you're bringing your sister back? Their parental instincts will force them to accept it.

Lets review past examples of pilots using mechs of a similar design and orientation to what our host has, and review those files for general themes seen to be effective with heavier mechs with single fire weapons and heightened mobility.

Let's also look at examples of how melee fighting is handled in absence of spikes or pistons, in particular how well a heavier suit stands up to prolonged melee use without melee attachments.

Finally, look up any videos documenting black horse wins against superior foes, looking for any commonalities that potentially could be exploited, such as a design flaw to a given model that led to a much less advanced mech to win after divining the flaw. Stuff like that.

>Lets review past examples of pilots using mechs of a similar design and orientation to what our host has, and review those files for general themes seen to be effective with heavier mechs with single fire weapons and heightened mobility.

Most mechs of similar build to Maximum Burn utilize their speed to reach cover faster. It should be noted that PART SPEED FEET is less effective the more one weighs. The approach normally utilized is one of cautious but strong stings, aiming for sensitive areas, such as weaponry, sensors, and extensions.

>Let's also look at examples of how melee fighting is handled in absence of spikes or pistons, in particular how well a heavier suit stands up to prolonged melee use without melee attachments.

Heavier MCUs notably outperform lighter ones in terms of torque and endurance. It should also be noted that reaction speed is uniform across mechs, but limb speed is not. Thus chest extensions such as the SPEAR are reccomended. Without optionals, melee combat is rarely sought out, but highly regarded by spectators. However, unless there is a great disparity in size, it generally damages MCUs more or less equally: Unless you will win with the blow, or are grappling and not punching or kicking, melee is not advised. Melee weapons are available starting at Proven Status, and should be purchased if one wishes to take such risks.

>Finally, look up any videos documenting black horse wins against superior foes, looking for any commonalities that potentially could be exploited, such as a design flaw to a given model that led to a much less advanced mech to win after divining the flaw. Stuff like that.

Low-odds wins typically are characterized by the superior mech failing to grasp creative use of his many peices of equipment. SEE:

Entertainment Rookie Leader: Antione
MCU: Slaver Mk. V
MCU is notable for creative use of Spike extension, and for utilizing the Plasma Shoulder armament in strange and sometimes odd ways. Be forewarned of melee attacks.
Suggestion: Aiming for the Hover system's control or thrust system may be advantageous.

Entertainment Intermediate Leader: A. C. Randon
Core: Chariot
Core is noted for exclusive use of a single weapon combination: Spike in one arm, magnetic sheild on the other. Outpaces all speed values in all brackets, at the cost of very minimal armor. Quickly destroys opponent's sensory abilities, then forces a surrender to the pilot when they open 'pit. Has never killed a pilot.

Entertainment Professional Leader: Gerald "Blazing Sword" Forge
Gearhead: Durandal
Noted for Custom Weapon, the Sword. Is the only known instance of a non-vibrating, non-toothed blade to ever peirce an opponent's armor. Showy, over the top. Uses heat venting system ALPHA to overheat the arena, usually damaging sensitive equipment outright. He then uses the Sword to assault the opponent, relying on surprise and overconfidence of foes to win the day. Noted for being offered Coghood and denying.

>The 8-Ball invitational.... does 8-ball always participate in this?

The 8-ball invitational is an event that occurs once a year and has seen competition from all brackets. It is hosted and sponsored by 8-Ball, the prize being a match against him. There is not prize for beating 8-ball beyond notoriety. 8-ball selects what he considers 'the best and most incredible' pilots each year, according to his own whims. The event is highly regarded as being the best place to veiw new piloting techniques and meet strong players.
It should be noted that every winner of this even has been given a Coghood invite between a day and one month afterwards.

>I have more interest in videos demonstrating what someone in a starter heavy mech like our can do in terms of creative body movement/improvisation that would be possible with our current suit.

Heavy arms are capable of lifting and moving heavy terrain. The first victorious match of Gerald Forge saw him utilize this tactic to pick up a large piece of cover, a concrete barricade with titanium mech reinforcement, to advance on an opponent when his weapon was destroyed.

All levels of matches have barriors/debris of a relatively similar weight/size, at least until we get to Gearheads, yes?

So our suit should have this as a viable tactic as long as we keep it a heavy.

At this juncture, as a new Legion protocol we don't have enough knowledge of live combat in mechs, so I think further questions can wait till after a field test of several of the principles we have been working on.

---Using Speed Feet (Wake up early, if you can try and get some practice with the Speed Feet prior to your match.

--Using heavy mech's strength, barrior appropriation.

--Use heavy mech's durability and Speed feet to close and melee small, lightly armored mechs, as disparate armor levels were mentioned as making unarmed melee viable. Any other situation, just go for limbs, either to tear off with you reasonably large amount of torque, or failing that keeping them and whatever armaments they have out of your way.

--If possible, try to cripple movement, to then follow up with rifle shots to joints, should bring down even heavier targets than us.

I figure if we try to add any more to our to do list at this juncture,. we'll be spread too thin for our match.

If this is an implication that we as Legion protocols should pay attention to insuring the pilot himself is sufficiently capable that even lacking our advice he could perform, then this is already understood.

If this is to infer that using the connection to the network to learn of our foes and such could become a weakness to the pilot if they grow overreliant through us, this is also understood.

If there was a tertiary meaning, this protocol missed it.

What is the current time, when did the host go to sleep, and when is the match? Human biology standards dictate that we should attempt to insur Sire gets only sufficient sleep, as oversleep can dull responses just as lack of sleep can distort them.

Both ways of approaching this have ups and downs, but idyllically, I think your best chance at a favorable reaction is to either tell them now, or even better, after you win your first match. Telling them after losing would be the worst case scenario.
I stil say put off telling them till after the first match, so you at least have a reasonable idea of whether this is going to work or not. But get someone to record it, and bring th tape when you tell your parents.

That's about as close to having your cake and eating to as I figure you can get.

Plus it frees up more time for training, since this conversation could take a while, and before a match is not the best time for that.

Hm, how does the lock on function?

I mean, there are several disparate systems that can provide lockon, ranging from analyzing camera feed to select what is likely to be a target, to laser guiding, even some limited [at 2010 era] Target prioritization programs.

Also, how much does Maximum Burn weigh, with and without missiles? If they (the missiles) have enough mass, launching them could lighten us enough to amplify the effects speed feet has.

To build on that, since mech design is modular, is there some way to trigger the release of parts mid-fight? Say, run out of missiles, jettison missile launcher, since it doesn't do anything but weigh you down at that juncture?

Locking on seems based on a part that is inherent in all mechs, that is to say the pilot. It then can lock on to different areas of a mech.

As for the weight of Burn? I have no idea. I imagine it's in the range of tons.
((Locking on: Locking on allows for a +3 bonus to certain actions. Some weapon systems need a lock on to function. In order to lock on, oyu must be facing the target, and maintain LOS for at least three seconds.
Multilock: Some weapon systems launch multiple projectiles based on the amount of time you are locked on. Traditionally, these take about 2 seconds for each projectile.
Breaking Locks: In order to break a lock on, you must leave the opponent's feild of vision, or activate anti-lock tech.

Range of lockon is dependant on your system.))
>>
No. 143055 ID: d1210a

>>143052
Oh, range has some impact on lockon?

And we have a mild anti-lockon item, WITH a long range rifle? And we have armor as well as a method to boost our speed?

Perhaps our initial outlook to this upcoming match could be to play to those strengths, staying mobile with anti-lock active, and trading shots with rifle while relying on armor to shrug off the shots that hit? Basically, act like a Dom.
>>
No. 143056 ID: e31d52

>>143055
Well, the antilock system is only good for disrupting lockons that can't be made again soon. Not to mention it can't be activated at the same time as using other systems.

{Okay, I'm going to activate the sensors for lock-on now. It should train on the cockpit in front of you, on that pile.}
It does, beeping quietly.
{All right, shoot it.}

(Average success)
The rifle thunders, and the bullet slams into the cockpit, annihalating the seat and leaving a round hole in the back.

{Very good! Now, I'll lower a constructed MCU. Don't worry, it's been ruined by overheat abuse. Once you ruin a limb, we'll move on to speed boosters.}

((Wounds))
((Wounds are a measure of the status of a part of the mech. Each limb (arms and legs) has 4 wounds. The head has two, and the chest has six. If the cockpit is seperate from the chest, it has a single wound. Wounds are determined by the degree of success you acheive, to wit:
1= 0 wounds, miss. 5= 0 wounds, miss. 10= 1 wound, glancing blow, 15= 2 wounds, direct blow, and 20= 3 wounds, a precision hit.))

((In order to activate special extensions like the Speed Feet, you must make an initial check to get them running. Higher success allows them to be used for longer periods of time. 30 seconds is a LONG time in a fight, if you act decisively. This could be critical.

Give them a test for abrupt direction changes, and for dodging to either side. See how much it can improve performance in those categories.

This amplification should be reasonably flexible, if I'm interpreting how it works correctly. This could be very, VERY useful.

Okay see? The virgin thing? Highly relevant for us, part of a pilot's performance is psychological condition, being hung up about that now is a bit late to tell us.

But think about this.

NONE OF THAT IS AN ISSUE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO, IS WIN

Just beat one person, and noe of these fears will be an issue right now. One single individual. That isn't impossible, not by a long shot.

So, if you don't WANT to have to worry about dying, get in some more rapid-aiming practice with your rifle. You want this match over as fast as possible, so quick strings of double taps, letting your nerves drain away, could work. Just shoot, reload when you need to, and watch the maintenance of your equipment.

Right. This match is all that matters now. I just have to do it!

Trait earned: Relentless
When making multiple attacks, you suffer no penalty, to attack rolls.
Normal: There is a -2 cumulative penalty for each attack beyond the first.

Trait earned: Smash and Bash
When making melee attacks, you count the Lock On bonus.
Normal:Lock-on does not affect melee.

I have an hour free.
Should I Spend time with Ashley, or Leave early?

OH

OH MAN

IDEA

The arms and legs have thicker armor than the chest because we got the medium cockpit, right?

Well, to hold the rifle, one arm has to brace it. That already provides partial cover to our cockpit, real handy to offset lessened armor.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, and sort of extension on our preferred bracing arm about the forearm can act as an active shield while we are sighting our gun on something

That is a critical advantage right there. Hell, if at some point we can get a way to get sensory dat from said shield, we wouldn't even need to expose our head.

I nod, and run. The stadium looms in the distance.
