You feel a tug. It's really quite annoying. You consider ignoring it, but it really is rather uncomfortable. You acquiesce. You sense the coniferous forests of Furnshakt. It's unusual for them to seek one of your kind. They normally just talk to their own spirits.

We dont have to actually help them. We'll kill them all for threatening our true worshiper. We just need the power right now. Let them think we're being honest.

Furnshakt is not territory of any particular god, it's full of lots of little spirits. That's a big part of why I started you there.

You disappear from the side of your follower, and appear amidst the confused search party.

>"A SKULL OR A SOUL
>FOR THAT IS MY TOLL
>IT MATTERS NOT WHOSE
>SO QUICKLY NOW, CHOOSE
>LEST YOU ALL FALL PREY
>TO THIS FOREST MOST FEY"

The sergeant steps forward.

>"I'll not let you harm my men"
Though his words are brave, his voice quavers

The whole of the elk, sacrificed in my name. Hunted by you alone in this forest untame.
We keep the spirits from ripping out your chest,
only while you serve us or in this place rest.

(Go now, hunt us an elk to pay your toll. But leave your men here for we will only protect one of you)

The sergeant lays down his shield and blade and strings a light hunting bow, then heads back from whence he came. His men shuffle their feet awkwardly.

It might be worthwhile to explain rank insignia at this point. The only distinction in field uniforms is shield designs. This is how you recognized the Sergeant's rank. The two remaining soldiers are of the same rank as the one who summoned you.

Outstanding. Let us be kind... escort these people through the forest, being sure to keep the "there are things in the trees" act up. If they try to go towards our worshiper we'll just tell them that way lies certain death. If they insist and go off anyway, we'll kill them.
We'll also tell them, after escorting them through that they should pass on the word to any more of them that a sacrifice is required to pass through these woods.

>"If thence he went, you need not fear
>he's already lost a thing most dear;
>his body's lost its only breath
>for forward there lies only death"

A look of consternation crosses the sergeant's face.
>"Ah, we're supposed to bring him back to be hung. Deserting is a pretty serious thing."
One of the soldiers nudges him.
>"Hey sarge, I don't wanna go back empty-handed neither, but I reckon it's better than death, you know what I'm sayin'?"

Molakad has no immediate plans. He explains that his company in Mensala was entirely killed or captured when he was. He is now a deserter in a foreign land. An army hostile to him is in the forest, and while the natives are not unlikely to shelter him, he sees no future there. As such, continuing to serve you in exchange for continued protection is no worse an option than any other, at least while the Vyntric army yet travels through Furnshakt.

Well, pretty much anything, really. You could build a more physically useful physical form, or enhance what you have. There were some good ideas before:
>>19873
>Can we bite people at range? Talk to people remotely using a mouth? Can we make our mouths creepier by giving them fangs and such if we so desire?
Those could be made inherent abilities. The first two, at this point, are worth 1 power point each. The third is worth .5, because it's not very useful.

Other than physical stuff, you could grant yourself new abilities. Any DnD spell would be a good example, or make something up. Cost depends on power, naturally.

Any other ideas that make even the least bit of sense are good.

You have 3 points of power, btw.
>>
No. 28576 ID: f4963f

Remote talking's pretty good. I say we grant ourselves the ability to talk to people in vastly different locations just by manifesting as a mouth (which is worth 1 point, I believe?) and then give our mouths creepy vampire fangs for extra intimidation factor (half a point?) -- and then save the remaining 1.5 points for an emergency / a rainy day.

didn't see the three point thing.

Anyway, are you guys attached to the little girl form, or could we be some kind of floating detached smile? Also, how many points would the ability to possess people via covering their mouth with a smile cost?
>>
No. 28583 ID: ed8d8a

I'm guessing that the ability to remotely manifest talking smiles covers the ability to manifest ONLY as a talking smile for all practical purposes, since we DO have the invisible god-form still.
And honestly, floating smiles can be pretty darn creepy even WITHOUT fangs. I like the "something is subtly yet terribly wrong here" form of scary quite a bit more than the "big scary monster" approach.

In the long term, we need some form of smiting to enforce our will. I recommend swallow whole.
>>
No. 28591 ID: 01383e

>>28583
I second swallow whole, possibly with the ability to leave behind a corpse covered in bite-marks after it falls out the back of our one dimensional mouth. completely optional.
>>
No. 28598 ID: 1689ab

Well, being able to bite people from a distance sounds pretty useful, as does remote communication. Remote communication could be vary usefull in messing with our opponents. Swallowing someone whole seems pretty useful, but we need to be able to... say... just consume someone's arm or something too...

Should we consider some peacful powers? So that we can be a kind god if we need? Healing is always nice, though something really minor wouldnt be half bad either... say... giving people nice, clean, strong white teeth? We could be the god of dental hygene and it wouldnt really cost us that much, i dont think.
>>

>>28598
Spooky teeth aside, we are sorta pointed at being a goddess of the hunt so far, as our primary action has been to affect the outcome of a manhunt, and our largest sacrifice was a freshly hunted woodland creature.

Asking for a token sacrifice from all game freshly killed in the area would not go awry. Something small and mouth related probably. Cut out the tongue? Necklace of the teeth?

"the mouth" and its related "dental hygiene" sound pretty lame to me, especially compared to the others. Appearance doesn't NEED to have anything to do with our areas of influence anyway.

Never underestimate the power of strong teeth. Especially in a fantasy setting where people don't have the best of dental care. Its a relatively minor sphere, but think of what we can do with it. We can melt the teeth from peoples mouths, we can sew the mouths up, we can give people fangs and venomous maws, we can cover our worshipers in mouths to create horrible monstrosities! What is a dragon without its teeth, I ask you? Plus we can cure toothaches and help old people eat things other than soup. For those of you familiar with discworld, I remind you of ol' Cohen and his Troll Teeth dentures.

...actually now that I think about it, I suppose it would be up to our followers what our domains are. Whatever the sort of things they ask us to help them with turn out to be. When I have time. School is about to start up for me, so that'll be a few days of driving followed by at least a few days to get set up. But before that comes packing, and after that I need to be sure that I know wtf am I doing in my classes. Could be as much as two weeks.

As far as constructs, something made of the bones and antlers and tied together with sinew, but with huge mouths filled with teeth from all manner of beast could work quite well.

The ability to create constructs would take a considerable amount of power, though, and as such is unlikely to come into play for a while.
