Sounds good so far, but most of the teams were 3 and a captain. You're the acting captain, of course, so perhaps one more should be recruited?

And how is Mimi Doing? How much time has passed since we last spoke?

Remember you said you were going to try to invite Sonata? I mean you probably won't need her much, but that's the point. She needs to get used to being in a group. With stoic Saisai to train with and friendly Kacey to talk to it should work out fine. Just be sure to let the two of them know about it before you invite her in. Remember you're doing it to make a useful party member out of her and as a favor to her brother.

And I know you don't much want to deal with Mimi right now, but please give her a hug or some kind of comfort. Tell her you'll try to make her happy somehow.

>>288997
It's just been over the night, but it makes sense that you're feeling displaced a bit.

Artemis, we remember a bit more about what happened with your dad, but we should wait till later to talk about it. For now just remember that if you want to follow in his footsteps... work on your interpersonal skills.

Of course, Sonata as well. I'm sorry, I must have forgotten for a moment.

Mimi is doing well I suppose. I mean I've only been awake for an hour or so but she seemed to be fine.

You got a memory of my father!? You must tell me about it as soon as you can! Was he saving a village? Or maybe defeating a evil monster!
It's a shame he never could tell me these stories himself..

Anyway the everything should be set and everyone will be here shortly. Is there anything I should do before I meet the group?

He was... undertaking somewhat less heroic tasks, but honing skills which were doubtless necessary for you to be where you are today.

Really, all things considered, one must understand that village-saving and monster-defeating takes up a fairly small percentage of even a hero's time. I'd say your father understood that making the most of the rest of your life is important, too.
>>
No. 289185 ID: 8c73c8

yeah, it was right before he went to fight that dragon. seems we are unlocking memories of him backwards.

and you should probably know that you MAY have a half-darkelf sibling, just a heads up.

Well he was on his final quest... not a bad memory but still should wait until later to talk about it.

As long as you have your supplies and all I think were good. What other kind of preparations could we need for meeting fairies? I can't think of any.

Eh?

>>289183>>289186

Of course. My father had already mastered all that is required of being a warrior. I've been so preoccupied with the more glamorous qualities of a warrior life that I've neglected simpler things like relaxing. Nevertheless I -will- master the same skills my father had no matter how many attempts it takes!

Now, to meet my team.

[i]Artemis heads out to the Meeting room. Inside he sees Saisai and Sonata.
Saisai nods at him.

"Good evening Artemis. Kacey said that.... Kacey's gonna meet us at the gates. We still need to buy some supplies though and we need money for that."

Ah... I need money. That's right. I could get a loan for the king or get some out of my own stash..
>>
No. 289189 ID: 69bee4

First: introduce Sonata and Saisai if they haven't done so already. Inform them of the basics of the mission, and ask if there are any other concerns they would like to address with you before money is split.

As far as money goes, I think we have enough to spare, though I forget exact amounts. This is particularly true if the loan means an interest needs to be paid (unless its low and out money is minimal), as the word usually means.

Also, is something up with Sai's hand? or is that a glove.

Use your own cash. You can pull it out of Mimi's bag and hand it to them right now, which saves quite a bit of time.

Also, the less-heroic task your father was undertaking was sleeping with one of his many lovers - the leader of a dark elf city. Since she marked herself as his they had to be very close. He didn't have to do it at all, he did it because he wanted to.
There's a good chance you have a half-dark-elf for a half-sibling.

Amusingly, rejecting Mimi makes you far less like your father.

[attempt to silence]

Discretion please, or at least frame it in some less... forward terms. We do not need to be bothering Art with this while he's busy.

Whenever you have a real free moment Art, we can go over Sable's tale in more detail, well, what we remember of it. Not alot, but something.

>>289187
Depends, what is the usual method? It is a royal mission, I assume they pay for expenses afterward so you might as well spend your own cash now. It'll be faster than bothering the king, certainly.

Now then, ask if introductions have been made already, otherwise help with that. But between Shy and Stoic here don't expect too much. While you are out getting supplies ask Sonata what she knows about the fairies and if there is any special preparations or items that could prove useful here. Point here is to get her comfortable talking around Saisai, aside from the help itself.

>Nevertheless I -will- master the same skills my father had no matter how many attempts it takes!
And we -will- hold you to this.

I think that's her glove. She usually wears one for her spear.
Anyway I think I'll pay out of my own pocket this time. I think this counts under mission expenses.

Artemis reaches into his bag thinking '20 gold' but grabs air. He reaches in again.

"Something wrong?"

"No, nothing.. Just need to get this money.."

He reaches in again and with a gasp pulls his hand out.

Ow! She bit me! I got the money but still!

Artemis cleans off the coins and hands ten to each of them.

"Uhm.. Alright team go and uh... Buy stuff. Meet back here in like... 20 minutes?"

".... Come on Sonata."

Sonata and Saisai go off to the market and return a few minutes later with potions and other things.
Artemis pulls over Sonata

"Hey Sonata, is there anything I should know about these fairies before we head off there?"

"Uhm... W-well they don't really enjoy humans c-company. They're all girls since their m-males are uhm... And t-they have usually don't entertain g-guests so we won't be to st-stay in their city. Also w-we n-need to get to their f-forest a more indirect route s-since there's no dragon shrine there."

"Well Sonata I'll put this in your hands. You seem to know the land a bit better then I do so lead the way."

Sonata nods. Kacey soon joins the group and once together they head off.
Sonata has them take the dragon shrine nearby field. Ahead of them is a enclosed town with a single guard by the entrance.

It looks like a dark elf.

are we wanting to go into this town at all? if not then let's just give the guard a quick greeting and be on our way. if we do need to go in then i guess see what you need to go in your just enter if you don't need anything.

Artemis, Mimi is incredibly upset right now and you're too dense to realize it until the point you get bitten. If you even got it then. Your dad would be ashamed! He'd never let his... close friends, get so upset because of him.

Anyways don't know how you want to approach this particular dark elf, just be very respectful.

I will concede that both of them are fucking idiots. Artemis, for not listening to us and blandly assuming that someone he's depending upon to provide potentially life-saving services was telling the truth about her feelings, and Mimi for lying in the first place and now displaying her displeasure like this instead of just saying that she's been emotionally crushed.

But regardless, there isn't a hell of a lot that we can do about that right now. Mimi is back home and it's not like this is a good conversation to carry out by note. Let's just focus on the job and try to avoid using items as much as possible.

Before approaching the town confer with Sonata as to where the hell we are and where we need to go from here. She brought us here, so she should know.

Mimi is heartbroken because you rejected her.
Saisai is an emotional wreck because of what happened to her.
You are completely clueless because you're as empathic as a particularly slow zucchini.

You took Mimi's virginity and then said "Sorry, I don't love you". She's taking this very well.

Whatever, he fucked her, and she was expecting an emotional bond to come with that physical bond. The traditional way to say "whoops, I dun goofed" is to give a girl flowers. Make sure you send the right message with the flowers, the type and color of flower is important.

Let's see. Send her a bouquet of yellow roses (apology, friendship) and pear blossoms (friendship). If she knows the language of flowers, she'll understand that you're saying you're sorry you hurt her, and you want her friendship still.

Artemis sends Mimi a note trying to apologize. She sends her reply quickly.

Ugh... Okay okay I'll listen to you guys a bit more about her.

"Sonata, why are we here?"

"The ent-trance to the land of fay is guarded b-by this city. W-we need to get permission f-from the k-king b-but that shouldn't be too hard."

"I see, thanks."

Artemis leads his group to the gates.

"Uhm... Hello sir. We uh.. Need to get in and see the king about fairies."

"Your seal?"

The guard looks at the rest of the group but doesn't seem concerned in the slightest, as though he knows he could take them all on.

"Sorry, but I haven't uhm... Been issued one yet. I don't suppose there's another way to prove... whatever it is that's supposed to prove."

"That your a official knight? No, not really."

Sonata walks in front of him.

"Please sir, this mission is very important for the fay. Let us pass."

The guard puff out his chest for a moment then sees her face.
His entire posture changes.

>"Uhm... I'm sorry miss I really can't..."

"I can assure you we are on a official mission. Let us pass."

>".... Okay, but you all need to keep on a blindfold while entering the lands."

"Thank you."

Sonata turns to Artemis and gives a small shy smile. Saisai stares at Artemis, her eyebrow raised.
Kacey just giggles.

Once they're all blindfolded the elf guard leads them down what feels like a dirt road. He tells them to keep walking foreword. They hear a great wind whip past them, knocking off their blindfolds.
They find themselves in a forest filled with white trees. Jutting out of the trees are beautiful crystals, each with a small hole inside of them.

Give Mimi flowers.

Oh, and we didn't bring this up earlier for obvious reasons, but your father was as much a master of marital arts as martial arts. He spent the night before fighting the dragon in the arms of a Dark Elf woman who was a mayor or a princess or something. Having sex.
Since she bore his mark above her heart they must have been deeply involved with one another, so much so that you might have a half-sibling from her.
Also, your father slept around. A lot. With lots of women. And possibly men.

You know how you swore to master the same skills as your father no matter how many attempts it takes?

Now that I've said that? Ask Mimi what she wants you to be for her, since what you think she wants may not be what she actually wants.

Don't get the wrong idea Artemis! Your dad was awesome and a good guy. Sure he was a shameless flirt but he broke far more hearts by dying than sleeping around.

The POINT is that he wouldn't stand for you to treat a girl like you've treating Mimi. She needs you, you are her first and only love and there isn't anyone else she can ever be with as long as you are her master. Without you she is completely alone. And as a demon she feeds off of emotions as well, imagine how starved she is for that! You owe her, now man up and make her feel loved.

Now then one more very important thing: Your fathers last mission was given to him by Regulus. He told him the Dark Dragon was the protector of the tiger folk, that's why he went to kill it. We're quite sure that was a lie. He wanted the dragon dead for some other purpose and didn't care about sacrificing your father over it.

Tell her you're an idiot.
Then apologize.
THEN tell her you might not feel the same for her as she feels for you, but you'll do what you can to make her happy.

Then ask her what she wants out of your relationship, and see if you can meet her partway.
If she wants emotional intimacy, then give her that.
If she wants physical intimacy, then give her that.
If she wants to be your one and only love, then you can't do that, but you can still treat her like the important part of your life she is.

"At the very least you should realize it's actually harder to fight nonlethally. If you can fight and win with only poking with a blunt stick, you'll be all the more dangerous with your real spear. Any kind of self restraint will be the same, you'll grow stronger under them and be more dangerous when you put them away. OF COURSE it was flirty! You've been doing a LOT of flirting with her!

You noticed how her ear twitched, right? How she blushed after you said the show was worth the cover charge? How quickly she calmed down and made amends for her outburst?
She likes you, you goof.

Completely aside from that? Flirting really, really helps her.
You saw what kind of scum her father is. He doesn't give a damn about her beyond what he can from selling her. She's spent her entire life being treated like property; constantly seeking his approval in vain, because he doesn't think you should compliment 'property'.
She has poor self-esteem and a shaky self-image. She doesn't even hide it well, you're just thick as a brick. That's not even going into the shame that results from having to cover up body parts out of fear of discovery.

Flirting with her sends her messages like "You are physically attractive and the sort of person I like to be around." in a way that just saying it or trying to talk her up doesn't; it goes beyond words into the realm of actions, which are far more powerful and convincing.

She's also feeling isolated, which would have been helped by knowing that you have a similar need to prove yourself because of your family.

She's also afraid of being weak, and is prone to doubting herself.

There are other factors, but these are the major ones. Recent events have made everything worse, which is one of the reasons why we're pushing like this.

Do you understand why we're suggesting the way we are? What our motivations are?
Are you going to help us help Saisai?

Oh, also, she likes men with a good goal in life, and you're aiming high.

He's got the right idea. Just keep it to a minimum in front of others though, the good feelings can be easily overshadowed by extreme embarrassment.

Yeah we should get this checked out soon...

>>292309
I don't mind helping Saisai but I really don't want to send the wrong message.. I mean if she falls in love with me..

Anyway I have the rest of the day to myself, what should I do?

I can visit anyone I want to right now or just go shopping with my payment. Maybe study a bit before I call it a night.

I would say Morgan, as I believe its been a few days, or Gene if you feel you have been around too many females recently.

>I mean if she falls in love with me..
then you love her right back. get a heart with so much love in it you can love three women, each more passionately then any other guy does with his one girl.

>>292323
Oh, you're not interested in girls? Well, then what type of guy are you looking for?

Head to Morgan's first, and tell her you were asked to get a potion that "Ensures the regularity of a woman's cycle". Pay for that, then spend some time with her.
After that head for the Academy and see if somebody there can see what's up with that hair. Sonata would be a good choice, since she dabbles in everything and would at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Actually, go learn the Ice and Sleep spells. Ice is absurdly useful, and Sleep is a great way of ending a fight without bloodshed.

Morgan's it is. It has been a while.

Artemis heads over to Morgan's shop. She jumps up when she sees him.

"Artemis! I mean... I was wondering when you'd come back."

"Hey Morgan. Sorry about that, I've been busy lately."

Also a potion that -what-?

[Change Gender]
Tell her you were asked to pick up a potion that "Ensures the regularity of a woman's cycle". She'll know what that means. If she didn't then she would have gone out of business.

You haven't been gone that long. She saw you only 1-2 days ago.
Chat with her for awhile. See how well her research is going, and if she needs any help that won't get you killed again.
>>
No. 292351 ID: e02378

well too late then art. you already have several girls who have fallen for you HARD.

Artemis should be flirting now, not buying up feminine helpers. Worry about buying things after chatting with her for like an hour, seeing how she's been, and discovering if her guilt over killing you is sufficient to get into her pa- I mean, if she needs reassurance that you love her anyway.

>>292347
Apologize for not finding the time, but it really has been one thing after another. Ask if she has time to chat and stuff about your new status and her new market.

And uh... maybe we should discuss hypothetical potions at a later time...

>feminine helpers
That has nothing to do with it. This is applied biology here.

>maybe we should discuss hypothetical potions at a later time.

This is kinda time-sensitive. We need to get this to Saisai relatively soon.

Arty, we can't choose a girl for you. We can only help those girls like you more.

That's your department. We can suggest all we like, but you're the one who needs to fall in love for it to work.

Think. Choose. Then let us know.

We promise you: Whoever you choose, we will help you win her heart.

Just make up your trangender mind already >:|

Well I gotta agree.. I don't think Saisai would need such a thing and we did just get out of an intense fight..

Anyway.
Artemis explains his new position and the increased responsibilities that came with it. Morgan nods.

"So how is everything here?"

"Uhm.. It's been quiet. My work on the Feather of Life is coming along well... I..."

"?"

[i]"Well I was wondering if maybe you wanted to spend some time with me today... I made some food... It's up to you of course.. I understand you must be busy."
>>

well, do you? she is basically asking you out on date. you can't have it both ways with her. you accept she thinks you like her back. you decline and she will think you don't like her like that. if you really don't like her then your options are break her heart now or later.

As far as I can tell you actually like Morgan romantically significantly more than you do any of the other women in your life, so you might as well pursue the matter. Unless you've suddenly decided to be faithful to Mimi, which I find highly unlikely given your past attitudes.

Do whatever.

You aren't busy, no crisis right now, mission is over, duel concluded and your demonic relations are on the mend. Yeah right now is a good time for relaxing with a friend.

Of course if you go looking for another problem to solve I'm sure one will pop up.

...
"Ensures the regularity of a woman's cycle" is a discreet way of saying "Something to make sure she doesn't get pregnant".
Saisai would be too humiliated to get it herself, but you have no such problem.

You can spend some time with Morgan. Nothing wrong with that.

Wh-what? Guardian I do like Mimi but I don't like her like her...
Anyway I can't turn Morgan down, plus I'm actually rather hungry.

"I'd love to."

Morgan puts a closed sign up on the shop and brings out a box with food.

"Here Artemis.."

She pushes a portion to him. He smiles and takes a bite.

Oh... oh dear. Is it that bad? I fear she may have been dealing with alchemy so long she's too used to weird and nasty things not phasing her. I'm not sure what to do here, you don't want to hurt her feelings but lying and saying you like - that will just get even more of it down your throat. Maybe say something like "Hmm that's different, what's in this?" if you can somehow give constructive criticism without hurting her feelings, great. If you DO hurt her feelings... well try to explain my first point I guess.

In any case try to steer things into taking her out to dinner instead.

>Guardian I do like Mimi but I don't like her like her...
Precisely my point. You're not very well going to stop being romantic with other ladies given that attitude. There are a fair number of men who would take sleeping with a woman seriously enough to stop other romances because of it; you're obviously not one of them. Like father like son, I'd say. You'll have smokin' hot elven girls falling for you in no time, too.

>O_o
Traditionally, one swallows and pretends that it's good. However, given that this is Morgan and it might be actual poison or something accidentally, you might want to ask her what it is and confirm that it's actually just really terrible normal food before proceeding to eat more.
>>
No. 293566 ID: 8c73c8

what they said, let her down easy about the food.
>>
No. 293571 ID: 1854db

Hmm. Did she cook this food or did she buy it? If she cooked it, you should show appreciation somehow that she would want to give you something that she made herself. Don't discount her affection for you.

I would however warn that BLATANTLY LYING about the quality of the food could go either way. So would offering to help teach her how to cook.

"Yes.. I live alone so I always need to cook for myself. Do you like it?"

"It's.... Unique."

And spicy.. It's burning my tongue
>>
No. 293805 ID: 8c73c8

... you are bleeding. i think it's melting your tongue off. i suggest you stop eating that and use heal on yourself before it gets too far to not be considered minor. then explain you think her years of alchemy have made her chemically resistant so she needs something stronger then normal for it to taste spicy to her.
