>"I wasn't doing anything! Pervert! Pervert!"

Mudy gladly accepts the soup. It is spicey and incredibly strong of taste. He immediatly feels his strength returning.
He asks Axebeard how long he has been out and what happened to the troops.

>"Three days, me lad. Three whole worrisome days. Yer generals 'n ta girl were all 'round yer bed actin' like wimps.
>Most of yer lads weren't so lucky.. Most of 'em're shredded ta pieces. Ah managed ta find two with jus' minor injuries like meself 'n ah nursed 'em back ta health. Every mornin' we go out ta look fer more survivors among ta hundreds o' bodies, but tis a lost cause.. Aye, ah'm not even gunna bother buryin' 'em all. Ah was hopin' ye'd 'ave a better plan."

Mudy nibbles on his spoon, contemplating.

But before going with them Mudy focuses on Raital, who is holding onto the ceramic skull tightly. Its tiny glowing eyes still stare straight at Mudy.

>"Would many of your siblings like to kill the Skull King?"

>"Well, not so long ago we all would.. We're all his heirs ofcourse. My older brother and sisters would also try to kill eachother to get one step closer to the throne, but our elders are always much stronger than us.."
, Raital responds in the same dry tone. She seems distracted.
>"Our big brother was by far the most powerful and we all thought he'd kill the Skullking one day.. untill the Skullking named another heir. We don't know who he is, he's not even family, but he's stronger than anyone in the empire. Some even say he's a demigod.. I guess he's so loyal the Skullking feels safer with him as the first heir."

Become disturbed as you realize just what an unbelievably horrible family Raital is from. Gently pull the skull out of her hands, turn it away, and give her a hug.

Also, quietly tell yourself that your underlings are competent enough to realize there's a danger of traps, and not go running off after them as though they were infants.

"Raital! Listen to yourself. You say love when you mean lust. I'm attracted to you. Of course I am. I could hardly speak the minute I laid eyes on you... But love... Love is something that needs time to bloom. And time... Time, Raital! There's a berserk dwarf with a magic sword crashing into the room! You're so wrapped up in your feelings that you can't see that we're about to be killed! We need your help. I know you can focus, the way we need you to focus right now! I've seen you. That said, carrying this around is not tenable. Aside from being a security leak, it's goddamn depressing. And we can't trust anything it says.

Axebeard leads the gang through backalleys and under bridges, away from the loud festivities. They finally reach a dark damp alley where a strange man sits on a set of stairs.

>"Oi. Oi you."
, it screeches out to Mudy,
"You wanna buy the winning number for the Wheel of Fortune over there? Just ten coins could turn into a hundred right now. Think about it. That's the best investment you can make. Short term and reliable. What do you say? Just ten pieces."

And now we're surrounded by a bunch of goody two shoes elves who see kobolds as evil monstrosities, yay.

We should have been more tactful with ratguy, the side-quest might have been useful.

We could technically still be her little brother. Depends on if they use the concept of half-brother. But we haven't developed any weird half-demon powers or whatever yet, so I think we're fine.

Also, I don't necessarily think it's 100% bad that Raital took the betrayal sword with her when she left - she could be using it to betray her siblings/father right the fuck now. (Unlikely, but we can hope.)

Hello dear fans,

There will not be a chapter tomorrow.
I have to give my hand some rest!
Instead there will be some bonus content and extras to start Volume 3 with.

Meanwhile I'd like to encourage everyone to keep the discussions going!

Thanks for enjoying.

Current topic of speculation: Is that Hello Tom or Hello Rudy on his shirt? One would assume Rudy given it's Reaver, and yet Tom is more prone to the sort of distant stare so depicted.

I guessed animation because you were able to get things drawn so quickly with such detail, which you learn to do if you ever have to do in-betweens. Either way, it's top-notch stuff.

You know, I think Reaver depicts kobolds best. Reaver's kobolds have a realistic head-shape that an actual creature could realistically have, and yet they retain the cuteness of a traditional cutebold.

Kudos.

The second we get a minute sideways, we need to get some background information.

In chapter one, we were trying to look around for kingdoms so we could claim to be the prince of one. It's now chapter ten and we still don't have one. If someone asks us who we're the prince OF, we're just going to stand there confused.

I think we should tell the princess the truth. Not like right now, but when we can have a moment alone with her. Worst case scenario, it removes her from the romantic equation and allow us to pursue Raital at full-force. Best-case scenario, she convinces her dad to help us in our quest.

We could tell the half truth.

"Okay. Actually I woke up in a magic box and was teleported here. I'm actually the deposed prince of some country that might not even be in this dimension."
>>
No. 4651 ID: 489ca2

>>4650

Why do we have to continue to be a prince? It's obvious that nobody wants to marry her anymore, and the only reason we were putting on our little prince facade was to impress her dad into allowing us to marry. Now our goal seems to be rescuing Raital, and possibly taking on the Skullking.
>>

Because we told EVERYONE our Prince story, and everyone BUYS IT. Coming clean about not being a prince would irreparably damage our reputation with all but maybe Totenkompf, because he's loyal to us for different reasons. We used that prince reputation to get Goldwomb on our side, the elf queen on our side, to lend weight to our opinions as leader, and all sorts of things. Throwing that away is a BAD BAD IDEA.

Nobody would listen to a regular, run of the mill kobold, after all.
>>
No. 4653 ID: 7eda8b

>>4652
This. Our only real options are coming clean about being from another world (not that we can remember anything prior to the box!) but insisting we're royal, or sticking with our current story in its entirety and picking a neighboring nation to claim to be from.

>Nobody would listen to a regular, run of the mill kobold, after all.

I believe that by now we've established to our teammates that we are not a regular, run of the mill kobold. Even if we ditch the prince facade, it won't change the incredible things we've done. Perhaps our comrades will realize that.
>>
No. 4655 ID: 7eda8b

We ARE a regular kobold, though. We're just a trained bard with some serious aspirations.

If we ditch our entire backstory at this point, it'll really undermine everyone's trust. If we only ditch part of it, it'll be a bit easier for people to forgive. If we stick to the truth, but we're PROVEN wrong, (not knowing what country we're supposed to be a prince of, clearly not understanding its history or customs, etc) that's even worse.

We single-handedly defeated a lich at a battle of wits, gained control of a small army, talked down one of the Skullking's ELITE SOLDIERS, stole the heart of said elite soldier (metaphorically, of course), indirectly saved the life of one of our generals, and gained the trust and adoration of our followers.

We are NOT a regular kobold.

Really comes down to your definition of 'regular', dunnit?
>>
No. 4658 ID: 1104cf

All anyone else can see is that we are a regular kobold. So, yes, for every way that counts we are a regular kobold. We are no stronger or faster or different looking.

A few things.

1. The longer we wait to come clean about our past, the more trouble revealing it is going to become. Sooner is better than later.

2. Stop with the alternate world shit before it starts. We have no clue if that true. Also, no spreading guesses to our allies as if they are truth. No. Stop that right now. If we go "oh guess I was wrong" later then that undermines us EVEN MORE.

3. Don't tell the princess RIGHT NOW. Lets solve this problem first before we create another for ourselves. We can have truth telling time later.

Alright, I think I have the solution to our Prince problem.

When we get a free moment, tell the truth to only Totenkompf, and swear him to secrecy. Ensure NO ONE overhears. Then ask him what kingdoms have already been taken over by the skullking, and pick one of those to have been ex-prince of. If the country was known for its diplomacy, all the better.

>>

Here's what we can do. We can ask if the princess actually wants to marry this goon. If so, wish her a happy life. If not, save the fuck outta her. After saving, tell her that we have stumbled upon a quest of epic importance that we can only fulfill in this kobold form. (technically true). Tell her to not wait for us and find another prince, for we do not expect to be able to return once the quest is finished. Maybe even namedrop the Skullking as who we're up against. I'm sure she's familiar with that threat, if she's at all listened to politics. Bow, then make a dramatic exit.

Thoughts?

I left the saving part intentionally vague, as that'd need planning of its own. The charming goodbye might be a slight challenge, but we've proven good at that so far. We've got a silver tounge. We might as well use it to help with this situation.
