Hmm.. That girl was interesting.

As she leaves your castle you can feel an almost invisible force return to you. A sort of consciousness perhaps?

Anyway almost all the Rust Monsters are gone now. You wonder as to how they even got there in the first place..

That punishment is refreshingly creative, but seems... small. And Rose's actions from here on are still critical- she has to act in a way that displays renewed loyalty to us. Unfortunately that's a responsibility which she will have to fulfill or fail miserably at on her own, once we've told her about it.

I still think some kind of public and obvious action of devotion and submission is highly desirable. Magically bind herself to our service, tattoo her face with our mark, drink a loyalty potion, something like that. If nothing else, it would reduce future problems with Shana if we can point to it and say that the matter is closed.

I'm done caring about the past now, at most I would like to figure out about Lugh, but fuck it I don't care anymore we had that book
Let's go back to our game plan take over the world now, seriously

I think it's time we take our first town, well second town because we lead Lenion's tribe now. Let's go gather there and discuss potential targets with the tribe's most powerful and wise leaders.

Considering Rose is a lover of sweets, this is a pretty nasty punishment, but completely fitting and not overly harsh. No further punishment needed.

As for Shana, we should just tell her what we were before. She did the right thing, but she needs to limit the force she uses just in case. Perhaps inform us whenever a such a thing happens again before going all out. Maybe some communicators can help us out there? Also, maybe have her try and socialize with the others. That means just talking and such. No shadow magic or fear or intimidation, just friendly chats. You know, so she can get better used to people and hopefully lessen her Yan in her yandere.

oh i just thought of an additional benefit to not banishing rose. whoever destroyed us the first time will probably assume we don't know about her part in our fall. so they also don't know if we know about the part other demons played in our defeat. there is also a chance they might try blackmailing rose about her previous betrayal, if they do its more or less a free double agent for us. we should probably tell rose that if this group of demons tries to get her to turn against us again she should try and lead them on, and inform us as soon as possible.
>>
No. 373863 ID: e3aff6

We probably want to ask the specifics of which demons attacked you, and what way they were let in buy.
The former we want to be careful around, and the latter we want to guard or close off altogether.

She seems fine mostly.

"Rose how exactly did they get in..?"

>Rose: "The teleporter. They found a way to get to it from the Demon World and the Human World."

>Styx: "I will make it more secure at once my Lord."

"Good. Rose, I hope you learned from this."

The Land of Trials sounds like a good place to get some money later. But first you go and talk to Shana.

>Shana: "My Lord... I'm sorry that you had to kill Rose. But it was for the best."

"Kill her..? Shana she is not dead."

>Shana: "What..?"

"I didn't kill her. She's under watch and has a different punishment."

>"B-but she betrayed you! She's responsible for so much death! For your death!"

"She's paid for it."

>"NO! The only reason I didn't kill her myself was so that you could! I won't let that traitor live in this castle! Not the one who killed you!"

"your loyalty is admirable, but if I kill her I tip my hand. rose was approached by a coalition of demons, not heroes. this means that a conspiracy between the heroes and demons was what led to my defeat. if they realize rose has confessed whoever was behind it will move to destroy me again at once. I still need time to rebuild my strength before i can face them. they cannot know that i even suspect that it was anything but a group of heroes who defeated me, not yet. "

And Shana is still Shana I see. Welp, it makes sense she would be mad about that. She seems to idolize us.

Anyways, let's explain to Shana our reasons calmly.

First off; If what Rose said was true, she won't die even if she's killed. It won't help anyone and it would likely demoralize our troops rather than increase their morals.

Second: The info she gave us just helped us protect a structural weak point so they can't use hat path again. With further questioning, we may get a list of names or faces of whomever planned this. We may even be able to use her as a double agent in the future.

Third: Right now we took away one of her most precious things until she proves herself worthy. To be precise, Styx did so and set the rules so they benefit us. That is one of the reasons why Loyalty works better than fear.

If you do feel like torturing her, eat a chocolate bar in front of her. It's less destructive and she will get the point to work harder.

>"She's paid for it."
She hasn't paid for shit. We gave her a wrist-slap. Admitting that won't help, though.

"I appreciate your loyalty- but what will I get out of killing Rose? A fleeting demonstration that traitors are harshly dealt with and little else. I need servants more than I need such displays. Rose will remain, and she will serve loyally under close observation. And hopefully, she will prove instrumental in helping me track down the others who were responsible for my fall, as there are no others who remain to me that can recognize them."

>>373920
Do not say this. Not only will it piss Shana off, we don't really understand our prior self that well.

We deserved to die because we were trying to put some order in the demon world and to do that we had to be brutal like a demon? Do you somehow think that thousands of demons that are all free to do what they want is somehow better than them following the orders of one lawful one?
Also because of Rose we don't have our eye, you know the only thing that completes us?

"Shana killing her would do nothing. She's a demon, she'd just come right back. Not only that but because of her background it may even be possible to use her as a double agent if the same people come to her again."

>"But-!"

"And she has had one of her most precious things taken from her until further notice. Even you must admit this hurts."

>"Well yes but.."

"I appreciate how loyal you are Shana but don't worry I know how to handle my troops."

>"... Very well my Lord. But I will be keeping my eye on her as well."

"Shana.."

>"I will not hurt her."

"Good."

She gives a curtsy and leaves. You pull out your partially ruined map.

There are still many things you must do. Where will you go next?

You have Styx fill out the rest of your map.

The Cave of Memories? Interesting. Apparently she's never been there herself but it seems to be a place where all warriors go to battle strong opponents. Similar to the Land of Trial but much more difficult and with greater prizes.. Perhaps this place merits a visit?
Or shall you just stick with your original plan and go to The Land of Trials?
>>
No. 373953 ID: 1854db

Let's go there. I want to find out if we had a reason to burn that section of the map.

And if we can get a quick word in with Styx, ask her if she put a charm enchantment on your face.

Let's stick with the Land of Trial for now. If it's not hard enough for us, we can try the Cave of Memories.

Skipping a challenge level to try a harder challenge level just seems foolhardy.

Land of Trials is it. But before you go..

"Styx"

>"Yes my Lord?"

You take your mask off.

"Did you Charm my face?"

>"Actually yes my Lord. I figured it would help you talk with people better. It changes your appearance to what the viewer most prefers and makes them easier to talk to. That was the point of it right?"

"I suppose.. But it also may be distracting. You need to work on a way for me to lessen the effect."

>"I will my Lord."

"Also, you're not affected?"

>"I have a lot of self control my Lord."

"Tell me, what do you see?"

One more person in the harem is one more person sad when we choose somebody. Meanwhile, leaving Styx out of the harem means one less sad person in the harem as they eventually are seduced by go to Styx instead.

Plus, she's like our main adviser, and it's good for the main adviser person to be able to be able to give us opinions that aren't biased towards us personally, instead focusing on the larger picture.

Anyway, onward to the Trials!
