Might be good for improving human-elemental relations, too, letting it get out that they don't just randomly wreak havoc.

René continues to question the giantess, "How did they carry two giant barrels of beer?"

"No, it was just two normal ones. Only 72 gallons"

"Which way'd they go? I was headed to the desert and hoped I could get their help."

"I'm not really su-"

"You talking about that satyr mage?", a giant who was drinking with a naga interrupts.

"Yeah"

"Head down to Slim's. They've been going on abut her there."

"I'm not from around here, where is that?"

The naga chimes in, "Just go three blocks west of here and turn left. You can't miss it."

René thanks them for their help, finishes off his beer, and leaves $10 for the beer and tip before heading out.

He follows the naga's directions, and just as he wonders how long the walk will be, he comes across a building that's missing a chunk out of the front. The sign says he's found Slim's.

René goes to knock at the door. Inside he can hear the muffled bustling of a full bar through the heavy door.

There isn't any reaction to his knocking though.

"I'm just looking for the water mage"

"Why, she a friend of yours? How 'bout you pay for my wall and I'll tell you?"

It might not last.

>>483034
Okay, looks like the water mage damaged the building, and everyone is glaring at you because you resentfully are also a mage. If you tell them you're her enemy (say, a bounty hunter) they might give you the info for free.
>>
No. 483038 ID: bf54a8

>>483037
it will last as long as the real thing against anything other then metal.
>>
No. 483040 ID: 57a559

>>483034
We can gossamer it for the time being. Not really a friend, just trying to prevent less damage from being done from a fire elemental freaking out about a possible elemental being trapped in a city again.

Maybe just to meet a nice new lady friend too.

No. 483049 ID: b33427

>>483037
How 'bout not directly saying you're a bounty hunter, but say something that'd slightly insinuate you might be one or something similar.

Say she's not your friend; You're just here to find and deliver her to somebody out of town, that's all (and technically the truth.) Don't even know her name, though perhaps the barkeep would be willin' to share that without payment.

Ask the bartender what the water mage did to his wall, since you assume it was her handiwork, and if he'd accept a fix by magical means if it was permanent. If not, ask how much he'd need to get it fixed in a mundane way.
>>
No. 483055 ID: f2c20c

I agree with patching the wall ourselves. It'll work, just gotta warn them about the issue with metal.
>>
No. 483071 ID: 7003a8

>>483034
"HA! No. I only know she exists because there's a fire elemental outside the city chomping at the bit to get to her, and I'm hoping to get her out of the city before fire loses its patience.
The best I can do is give you a patch job that'll hold as long as you keep metal away from it."
>>
No. 483072 ID: 4ede1b

I'd like to remind everyone that most people think elementals are demons.
>>
No. 483076 ID: bf54a8

we don't even need to warn them about the metal. by the time that is an issue we will be long gone.
>>
No. 483081 ID: bf54a8

no mention the living fire outside town. don't want them thinking we are threatening them with a demon attack if they don't cooperate.

483189

René starts with the brick outside, creating a patch out of gossamer that matches the rest of the wall. (-9 Gossamer)

The barkeep insists on checking the wall, to make sure it's not an illusion or something.

"So how did the water mage break the wall? Also, do you know her name?"

"She started a bar fight, and threw a guy, and some other things, through the wall. I think she's that wanted woman, Ellen, but she never outright gave her name."

Okay, we got to be honest with the police at least.
They'll take the threat seriously, hopefully. And that it's not really a real threat, just nature. Well, okay, we need to find an understanding police individual. So ask where the generally most understanding police officer is. They'd have to take her out with a convoy.

Gods be willing your picture isn't on the bounty board, we should check for that first before trying anything serious now.
>>
No. 483207 ID: bf54a8

GREAT. well, we don't need to jailbreak, maybe we can convince the cops to let us borrow her.
>>
No. 483208 ID: f2c20c

>>483204
WELP. That poses a problem. We were supposed to get her out of town... maybe we can convince the police here to do so for long enough to convince Chrys? Or we could just go tell Chrys the situation and ask if she wants the situation to change badly enough to help us break her out of jail.

Also, uh, you should tell the barkeep that he's gonna have to at least put some mortar or something on the crack surrounding the patch.

and THAT is why we don't have time to flirt with giant ladies. she can sense our fire magic still and trusts us. which is why she is sitting there instead of burning the town down.

Poor elementals. They suffer from too much empathy for their own sanity.
