Maurine, charge! Prepare some spikes and cast ice near his feet!

Aria, flail wildly and set yourself on fire!!! Then get serious while Mina is confused - flap your wings and use the heat wave to disorient her.

Yay cartoon physics! We can suggest all manner of gory, violent actions and they'll just result in a few bruises or burn marks!
>>
No. 616171 ID: 9ddf68

shit, I was hoping we'd talk strategy with Maurine before we started things. Fuck it, we'll just wing it. Let your sword on fire and get ready to block/dodge whatever they throw at you. Try to stick next to Maurine and ask if she can actually shoot out blades from a distance or if she has to be close.

Depending on the answer we take one of two strategies.
1) yes she can hit form a distance.
-stick close to her and use your flame powers to keep whatever the twins through at the two of you away as she pelts them with blades and generally fuck up anyone who is unwise enough to get in close like you did to snake girl yesterday.
2)no she has to be up close to attack
-tell her to follow you and watch your back. The idea here is to to aggro the twins while she keeps you form getting overwhelmed and getting some cheap shots in. If they aggro her instead of you then make them pay by getting some of your own cheap shots in. Just team up on one of the twins and try and take them down quick.

Neither is really fancy but seeing as we're winging it the simpler the better. less chance for mistakes.

[Attempt joint communication: Maurine and Aria]
Hey, if this works, both of you should hear us. Not really sure if it will, but hey, worth a try, yeah?

Maurine, I notice that Mina has an odd object. Keeping the air cool around you should help compress the mass of it, and if you are capable of making it cold enough, possibly even render it useless for the time being. Of course, this does rely on it being technological in origin, not magical like Aria's sword, but hey, even reducing the size of a magical item should be helpful, yeah?

Aria, I'm not sure what offensive strategies to give you, but if it looks like an opponent is closing in in a threatening manner (As in, a way that might actually cause harm to your clothing with little chance of parrying or blocking), fire up your wings. Literally, summon the fire into them, and flap. The gust of hot air should slow them down and/or propel your movement to assist in a dodge.

Mina starts running at me with her little metal stick, and it lights up into a huge sword! Jeez she's fast! I light up my wings and flap some hot air at her but it doesn't even slow her down!

Aria
she charging, with a sword, hm. Grab your sword and fire parry it. when your swords meet use explosion though you sword and see if you can't knock her weapon free of her hands or at least knock her back.

Maurine
Look you'll be fine aria is about to try something and once she does it (you should know when she does it) move in claws or something and try to land a cheap blow or two on lizard girl while Aria gets her feet under her

Both, the brother isn't doing anything so try and keep an eye on him, he's either waiting for Maurine to do something or he has a ranged attack.

It's... meant as a dodge tactic, not a slow-down tactic. The hot air isn't going to travel very far before it cools down, after all. You combine shoving hot air into their face with pushing your own self out of theirs to make it a good deal harder to hit you.

Maurine, I know they weren't made for channeling, but try channeling your ice through a sharp object; even if it just encases it in a dull layer of ice, it'll add more mass so that it hits harder if thrown.

Maurine: This is a great time to try things you've never tried before. Go back up Aria. Just move. One step in front of the other. Bring up your defenses preemptively, and just react to threats as they come. Try not to think about what you're doing.

If it helps, think of it as protecting Aria's dignity, not your own.

To Aria: Attempt the firey parry against the goofy-huge sword. If that sword's just made of magic or something it may be light as a feather and easy to deflect.

To Maurine: you can totally do this!
First, you just need to protect your clothes. cover yourself with snowy padding and icy plates. Your very own Winter Coat!
From there, you just need to make a blade with lots of little pointy, hooked bits that will catch cloth easily. Look at how loose that girl's shirt and skirt are: it wouldn't be hard at all to snag them.

I start running to Mina. The weight from the hammer put her off balance... I pull a sword with numerous hooks from my forearm and snag the collar of her shirt, then drag it diagonally across her back and legs as hard as I can.

Brother can make walls and sister can make shadow tentacles and teleport. Good to know.

Aria
...quick question, I notice that lizard brother's little wall trick is transparent. Think you could use your fire power to make a large flash and blind him? Then cut his clothes apart with a flaming intangible sword. Just try to make an explosion but instead of trying to blow everything up just focus on making as bright of a light as you can, like a flashbang.

Maurine
Are those tentacles solid? as in they can be cut solid? If so SHOOT SPIKES OUT OF OUR BODY. Around you legs and arms see if you can't tear out of her grip... and if you can shoot them out of you body like a bullet then you might be able to stagger lizard girl as well and get another attack in.

Aria: Don't despair. This was an experience to learn from, Besides, wasn't the risk of this part of the fun?

Also, if you can think of anything that will help her calm down after this, it would be fantastic. I suspect she didn't find this very fun after all..

Maurine: This isn't some mean prank: Its a game with friends. The King couldn't want his people, who can't truly hurt one another, to suffer from it.

You have a sharp, creative mind, steady hands, and a strong, solid form. In fact, being as small and light as they are, they're at a bit of a disadvantage once they're in reach.

You have the power to end this match. You can choose to call an end to it with no consequences, if you truly don't want to play any longer.. your friends will understand.

... or you can easily pin mister pompadour down and take his shoes.
Your blades, or your ice, can get around his wall. You can use your hands to block his fire breath with ice.. and bring up something hooked from your feet to slice through his laces and pull his shoes right off.

No, you didn't lose. You're out. You haven't really lost until your teammate has been knocked out, too.

And, uh, don't feel bad about that. Team games sometimes require sacrificial moves. You still did good.

All you can really do at this point is hope you hold fire-butt's attention long enough for Maurine to finish him by wiping out his shoes.

*sigh* Yeah, I guess…

I really do gotta train more, huh?

On my way to the sidelines, I see Mina heading there too. Jeez… did Maurine do that?

When we get to the edge of the arena, Mina looks at me and says, "I gotta give your friend some props, those were totally sicknasty moves for a first-timer. One moment she's freakin' the fuck out, then BAM, she's got me up to my knees in ice and she's hitting me with a wicked uppercut! And that was after she got my whole outfit in like… one shot!"

"That sounds awesome! Too bad I too busy fighting your brother to see it…"

"Yeah, sure hope he pulls through! If your friend hits him as hard as he hit me, we're gonna be stuck doing whatever you say all day! In the nude!"

"Uh, I never said-"

"Lou, you got this! C'mon, kick her butt"

>Also, if you can think of anything that will help her calm down after this, it would be fantastic.

C'mon, there's gotta be something I can do… I got nothing. Guys?

>I suspect she didn't find this very fun after all...

This isn't fun for her at all, is it?

Jeez, This was kind of a giant jerk move making her do this, huh… I wouldn't blame her if she held it against me…

*sigh* I can always get more stuff. It'd be okay if we just called off the match.

Oh don't get to bummed out Aria, that guy just had powers that kind trumped yours. I mean the way you've been building yourself up you're more of a hit and run fast attacker. With his shield bullshit he was able to bog you down... and thinking back on it telling you to try and block that one chick's attack instead of dodge was probably a bad call on our part. Oh well you learn more with each loss then with each victory.

-Maurine-
You're doing great kid. Just make sure you have your ice powers ready to protect you at a moments notice because this guy uses fire for his offensive ability so your ice should be able to cancel it out. he can also make shields so direct attacks might be tricky on this guy. maybe try to ice the floor and just have blades come out your feet so you won't slip and he will. turn the terrain into something that benefits you. You don't have to ice the whole floor just where you walk. and if you can stick this guy to the floor like you did to his sister that would also probably help a lot.

Hmm. Think you can make a path of ice in front of you? You can possibly protrude some blades from your feet and "skate" around him. If you manage to get behind him, those horns would make great hooks to pull upon in order to slam him down to get at his shoes and socks, and if you happen to jab your feet-claws into them as you toss him, they'll either pull or tear right off, too.

We gotta do this!

"Hey Mina! That sword-hammer-weapon-thingy you've got is awesome! How's it work?"

She stops cheering a Lou for a second a beams at me. "Oh, it's rad! I had to save up for it for a long time for it, but my offensive power's made of suck so I had to.

It's fitted with an outward-facing projection stone on one side, and a sundering stone on the other! I just think about what I want it to be and it projects my offensive barriers into whatever weapon I want! The sundering stone on the other side makes it deconstruct any clothes it touches. Too mad I can't make it do something with my teleport, but you win some you lose some!"

Oh King that's so awesome! I need one!

"Wow, that's pretty cool!"

Maurine kinda growls a little and uses her free hand to scoop up Mina's weapon.

The palms-out thing is also what he did to project that wall.

Mina seems to imply that her weapon might work with defensive powers as well.. so here's an idea. get to about half-court, then try to project your ice through the weapon, holding it so the 'blade' is more or less aiming right up.. make it as long as possible, then bring it down on him. His wall seemed to have a top when Aria er.. tested it, earlier.

It should make him stumble, stagger, or otherwise break his composure, giving you a chance to get in close and strip his sneakers. Heck, if you can keep his head from facing you, you might not even need to use a weapon at that point.

Maurine: Projection stone on one side, sundering stone on the other. You just have to think about a type of weapon, and the projection is created. Might I suggest a sickle? It could curve around any shield he tries to make. Make sure the projection stone is on the side you think it is.

Ooooh if you want to be super badass you could project one half of a pair of giant scissors, and create the other half using your weapon-creation ability.

Final advice? Well, from what I've seen a lot of your intangibility tricks rely on momentum. Get good at moving fast, or pick up some equipment that lets you move faster. Something to extend your reach so you can tear clothes off enemies would be good too, but it's worth noting that with the way damage seems to work in your world grabbing stuff might only be needed for extremities or for smaller, hardier items. Otherwise you can use fire and/or vicious sword slices. I bet you can use intangibility to steal equipment from your enemies, not just clothes. I'm also wondering if you can get enough fine control over it to allow you to dive under the ground and pop up wherever you want. Like an attack from below?

Don't forget your defensive fire powers were defined as "fireballs" so you will eventually want to learn how to start creating actual balls of fire. I doubt you'll be able to throw them since that's a strictly offensive technique, but you might be able to place them down for area denial, or figure out how to block attacks outright with fire. Maybe with the force of the explosion? If you can figure out how to direct the explosion in only one direction you could use that without damaging yourself.

It occurs to me a possible ultimate technique could be an EXPLOSIVE BUMRUSH. Phase through someone then trigger an explosion when you're inside them. Their body might even protect your clothes from the explosion!
