Bored. Bored. Bored. Gods Across how can anything be this dull? Had I known I'd be doing so much nothing, I'd never have agreed to this.

And now you're here. The voices Veni kept yammering on about? The ones that told him to plow that Tsang princess?

He told me if I touched his blue rock I'd feel you in the back of my skull one day. I chalked it up to all the Vrot he drank that night. And yet here you are. What are you doing here? How's Veni?

Honestly? Darkness, surprise and speed are your friends here. Turn the lights off and then find a convenient corner or pillar to hide your slim frame behind. When the first assassin approaches, kill him and then the others.

It's a midnight ambush by trained assassins while he's tired, poorly armed, naked, and in the comedown from sex.
Giving him a magical dose of Jet is appropriate, and not at all the same as countermanding physical laws.

Enhance my what-whoa! It feels like I've been going through life with a blindfold and cloth ears until now, this is amazing! Is this what Kells hears with those big ears of his? Wait...there's only two, but I know a third is lurking somewhere. Where is the little pavosh?

Most likely watching from the hall, or holding back.

These two aren't the threat, they're the bait. Their job is to be as subtle as a forest fire, forcing you to pay attention to the very visible threat while the killer uses the distraction to go in for the kill.

As frustrating as it is, you need to ignore these two and focus on finding and eliminating the third.

One of them is watching the hall you'd have to traverse to kill them. Track down the third and kill him instead, if you can do so.

Last weeks of the semester are kicking my ass, so things might be slower while I churn through this. Sorry for the delay

I left a weapon by Kells, I dunno if he'll even notice it though. I can try to pick them off to scare the crap out of them. With all this...I dunno what to call it. Super senses? I bet I'm even stronger to lemme try something.

There's ONE left alive.
ONE.
These aren't the only assassins that were sent out, but you're looking at the LAST survivor. Veni will live, but the traitorous family who sent the assassins is going to send more, and we don't yet know who they are.

You NEED to take this last one alive. It is ABSOLUTELY VITAL.
You NEED to disable them so they can't harm you, and you NEED prevent them from being able to kill themselves.
This is because we NEED to get them into the hands of a karver, and find out how to kill the people responsible for these attacks.

A few things here:
1: A door is defensible.
2: Her zoning game is strong.
3: We aren't likely to be able to hit her at range.
4: We don't want to give her more ammo.
5: We want to make sure she can't flank us.

Going out is probably suicide, we can't hit her from here, and we've been making enough noise that somebody is going to come investigate soon enough.
We can win by either making her disengage and pressing her on retreat, or by running out the clock.
So the strategy is delay and demoralize. The ideal outcome would be her defecting due to their opsec being in shambles and her head being on the chopping block for it - that's unlikely, but if she's a merc it's possible.
If she's more strictly loyal, then opsec being in shambled raises the possibility of there being a mole. Her focus may shift to live capture, which makes her job far more difficult.

Honestly? You've got the advantage in reach and... not a whole lot else, unfortunately. Your best bet is to try and clip her with the blade as she lands, preferably at the exact edge of your blade's reach.

And no shorter than this, if she gets on the ground then she'll be under or around your blade in an instant and that's game set match.

Of course I'm assume she's landing on our side of the waist-high obstacle and not the other... In which case, well, if you can jab at her from your side that might work but clambering over it might get you killed.

Oh right and the girl. You wanna do your thing...whoa.

:iagn2:"Oh girl, oh girl what happened to you? Strength, bone-restructuring, vocal sealant, pain nullification."

:kell2:"Wotsit all mean?"

:iagn2:"It means I was fighting a corpse this whole time. If this girl wasn't dead when these glyphs were getting carved into her, she most certainly was by the time they were done. Hell the only reason she died again was because my lucky stab destroyed a keystone glyph holding this mess together."

:kell2:"Holy's mercy...this typical Rezan fare?"

:iagn2:"No, most karvers can manage one glyph per body, adding extra glyhs is much harder with each new glyph. Whoever did this has a lot of power, and knowledge of glyphs that extends beyond most users. I don't think anyone in Makag can do this. "

Stick your hand on her! We want to attempt to eat all those glyph's and learn how they work.

Plus maybe we can get some glimpses of her past?

She is literally right there. We have a local nexus for exerting our power, so dragging her back far enough to converse with her is within our power.
Ideally we would be forcing her body into a not-dead state, but we don't know how much damage was incurred.

Well, shit.
Believe it or not, being on fire was worth it.
The karver here? They're from outside of reality. You're up against eldritch forces.

Anyway, the corpse is floating in mid air. You need to douse that fire and prepare.

No, no, I'm fine. We're fine. The body isn't rising. I just got a...I don't know what to call that. The fire doesn't even burn, it just hurt a lot.

:kell2:"Ye alright? Wot was tha?"

:iagn2:"Damned if I know. I was trying to figure out who put those marks on her."

:kell2:"Rezans can do tha by touch?"

:iagn2:"I...y-yes. That's how. Also are you wearing her barrette? That's going to get you all sorts of odd looks."

:kell2:"It holds long hair, an' I got long hair."

:iagn2:"You mean to tell me you want to have a go again? Now? We are next to a body and that's what you're thinking about?"

:kell2:"Well this boat be followin' the river. Don't need to steer it. An' it's at least two days ride a'fore we make the fort. Nothin' much tae do besides...f-foolin' around. Also I'm Daoine."

:iagn2:""I'm Daoine."? The hells does that have anything to do with it?"

:kellblush:"We have erm...deep appetites?"

Whatever you do, don't mock him about this. Not even a snide/cynical "Oh, I didn't notice at all during the last few hours"

Search the boat for supplies/location suitable for fucking and then get on with it.

You all think that maybe we have overdone it and now can't do too much mucking around with reality? Maybe we should stick to normal advice for awhile.

My totally normal advice is to put the body on ice or preserve it as best you can. Failing that, copy the runes as best you can and a diagram of where they were located on the body.

Skinning the body would work.

Anyway it's evidence and your best lead, once you get it to an expert.

Good gods I've created a monster and you're helping him

First extra over. I'm thinking of making more side character stories like this. Hopefully my schedule won't screw me up too bad. Question is if you guys would like this or prefer I stick to the main stories.

Also bonus ending: Lewd or Safe?
