You bought a random used game for the Playdo 64, the best system evah!

It turns out to be Zendikar Quest.

You fire it up, and notice that there are several options.

You can make a new character, either a Goblin, Vampire, Elf, Kor, Human, or Merfolk.

(I tried this on 4chan but I don't feel like digging out the characters we made for it)

Oh, and pic isn't unrelated due to lack of drawskills.

The Kor are a nomadic bunch with a religion focus on hooked weapons and grapping hooks.

They do a lot of climbing.

Kor is picked.

Questions

Gender

Do you want to aspire to be a hookmasker and train to throw grappling hooks to get around and kill people, or do you take a shield and use axes, swords and what not to hack people apart, or use holy magic to do shit?

Yar, BTW, quest won't update for like a night, as I try to figure out kor naming schemes and general plan.

My vote is the same. A chain/hook style could be interesting.

Having made a female hookmaster, and using the random name generator to get Kalani.

The game formally starts...

Kalani

You are a 20-something kor lass on the land mass of Ondu. You were born on the Makindi Trenches, to parents on the Sunvase leg of Ondu Kor pilgrimage. Like most kor you have a general finesse with the grappling hook, however, you really took to it, training under the great hookmaster Acaryatanaya.

Here is a picture of you training with her, catching a stray floating hedron. (You are on the left)

More to come shortly.

You aspire to find a new relic, to change the path of pilgrimage just that much. You aren't the best that you could be with the grappling hook, that would require more experience.

Kalani possesses two grappling hooks, basically limitless amounts of wire, a cutting knife, good for cutting rope and those you catch in it and some light and revealing clothing (I guess an exposed midriff is of religious importance for the kor).

I haven't generated the actual starting area for her, and family Christmas interrupts that.

Probably will feature goblins, because both gobos and kor like climbing.

(Opening cutscene)

Kalani enters the Bluesky Expedition House.

Known for its booze, and run by an goblin by the goblin by the name of Shilabull, it has something of an ironic name, as the only windows there give a view of the canyon walls.

A goblin sits at the bar portion of the house, while the merfolk bartender cleans a glass.

P.S.(as much as I can guess and interpret, Expedition Houses are basically traverns, but with a more explict adventurers getting together usage)

Oh, and player input is a go.

You could attempt to talk to either of the two. Zendikar Merfolk are leggy folk, and heir to a vast store of knowledge, so a merfolk doing booze for a goblin is kinda odd.

The goblin is also far stonier looking then most.

Kalani walks up to the barkeep.

After exchanging pleasantries and learning the merfolk's name, Leah, Kalani notes,

"This Expedition House is pretty empty."

"Shilabull, himself, went on an massive expedition to track down the Runed Key, a artifact rumored to be key , hehe, to travel to allow one to unlock the secrets of the floating hedrons.

"What about the ones on the ground?"

"That's the Etched Lock, the goblin lore is oddly specific, so I suspect it is something of wild horse chase."

"Oh. So why are you bartending?"

"Free booze is free brooze, and I only managed to get one goblin to sign up for my search for the Nighturn."

"That one?" Kalani gestured to the goblin drinking, what appears to be shots of some alcohol that smelled strongly of almounds.

"Nee? No fucking way, taking that drunk goblin would be terribly bad luck in Cosi's Realm. He can't hold his booze."

On cue, Nee drops his shotglass on the floor.

"No, the goblin I hired is trolling around, looking for a skilled climber, a guide, and a pointman."

How convenient. It just so happens you're a hookmaster, by default an excellent climber. Not sure about guide or pointman, but one outta three ain't bad, right?

Kalani: Well, Leah, I am a Kor, skilled in the Art of the Hook, trained under the great master Acaryatanaya.

Leah pauses to think "I think that will work, do you know anything about the surrounding area?"

"Yes"

"Alri-" An annoying ring starts up, coming from one of Leah's many pouches full of stuff.

She pulls out a hedron like the crab has in the pic, and seperates the two half a small amount, and turns around to talk to it.

"Hey. you Gob you, any luck picking up help? *Pause* You got a point and a guide for the trip. Excellent."

Leah turns around.

"Alright, You're on board, my goblin hireling should be back in a bit. Let's see if there is any stuff that we want to bring with us. The Bluesky is pretty well stocked with booze and whatnot."

(Bah, forgot to generate items)

Leah: While sipping some Bloodberry Schnapps, I noticed an enchanted spy-glass, and a net attached to a line, everything else is general goblin householdwares, including the lobotomizer.

We also have Sable Churn Brandy, Golden Meadows Vodka, and jerky.

I don't know what the jerky is made of. Probably not Baloth.... or Kor, or any other sentient.

(Bah, Fuck it, I need to get out of the choose your own rewards, also, anyone care about format?)

Kalani: I’ll take it all, I think its geopede jerky, My favorite, and why not for the booze, carrying around a bit of booze never hurt anyone? Also, that spyglass looks awesome, and the net will be nice for hunting.

As Kalani packs in the stuff, Leah gets a call from her hired goblin.

Leah: You got a little stuck? To make it faster, we will meet you at the forest clearing meeting place. (at Kalani) Let's get to the top of the trench and get to the Sunglade.

Kalani and Leah exit the expedition gouse and scale the cliffs with ease due to the sky being clear, and Kalani being awesome at climbing.

Leah: The forest meeting area.

A lanky goblin, whose bare head only reach the middle of Kalani's chest appears.

Leah: Greeting, Zurdi

Zurdi: Hey, Guys meet the lead, Leah, and the climber she hired.

He turns around, and notices that's it only them

Zurdi: I thought they were there...

At Zurdi’s words, there was a sound of breaking timber, as trees began crashing down somewhere near by.

Kalani: If that mess was coming toward us, we are so fucked.

Kor draws a grappling hook, and begins to whirl in around in an attempt to look fearsome, while Leah readying a glowing blue magic spell on her fingertips, while Zurdi just stands there, looking shocked.

A bunch of trees crash, creating an opening to the clearing. Instead of a massive beast, A bronzed-skin human with large muscles, a machete, and tons of survival gear emerges.

At that moment, an elf male drops down from the trees, landing in between the human and the others, points his hand up, as a pack of wolves emerges from the woods, They surround him, and let out a fearsome roar, and then run off.

Zurdi: Len, Pendus, I thought you guys weren't doing it.

Pendus: The wolves, really, really, wanted to do it.

Len: Can I help it if I have massive muscles (flex).

Gobo: Yeah, Yeah, Anyway, those were the guys I got you Leah, Len the Survivalist, as a pointman, and Pendus the Ranger as a guide.

Leah: Excellent, with Kalani the Hookmaster as an expert climber, we should have enough help to get the Nighturn.

(I need to write up a fight or something, writing this getting the whole team together and deciding to say "fuck it" to the junk took a bit too long, and doesn't give an problem to solve really. 3:)
