Because the other discussion thread was for Strange bedfellows and was kind of cluttered, I guess?

Either way, feel free to discuss who to eat / fuck / fuck and eat here.

Also, vote for best husbando! (I mean, there’s like only one other girl introduced yet so…)

Is anyone else legit concerned about the 7 enemies Ema currently has? I legit can't think of 7, but here's my attempt:

Duchess (fucking duh)
Vamp-Hiver (saw us drag Tana)
Prosti-Food (clearly has irons in the fire that we won't like)
Dick Guardswoman (on the "eat soon" list - because the prostitute suddenly became more urgent, you get to live yet another day)
Tunu(???) (currently friendly, but if she finds out...)
Yate(???) (obtuse as hel and not telling us everything, doubt he's one of the 3 allies)
Madame Whatsherbeak (did some shit, possibly knows what we are, if not who)

... Okay, some of those were last minute, but whatever. I was serious about those question marks; is there anyone I'm missing? I'm thinking the 3 allies might be Oran, Karn, and either Danus or Justinia.

I don't know about the noble in the sewers, could be, bu Justina is definetly not an ally, not yet at least, Danus on the other hand would be our first ally, hands down.

>Duchess (fucking duh)
Just to clarify, the super-evil smelling Vark ruler of the city is a baroness, not a duchess.

>Prosti-Food (clearly has irons in the fire that we won't like)
>Dick Guardswoman (on the "eat soon" list - because the prostitute suddenly became more urgent, you get to live yet another day)
My money is on the prostitute planning to or having already sold Ema out to (Dick Guardswoman) Terroza, so if Ema followed through on a meeting with Terroza she'd be walking into a trap and ambushed.

>Yate(???) (obtuse as hel and not telling us everything, doubt he's one of the 3 allies)
I'm on the fence about Yate's position. Like, it gave the herbalist those totems of Past, Present and Future (The "Continuity Brothers" we know from Strange Bedfellows) to protect her, but are they to protect her from those three knowing of her and/or meddling with her, or protect her from those that oppose those three brothers? Is Yate one of their champions, one of their opponents, or a double-crosser one way or another? We have to find out more first.

Hey, don’t get jealous over my OC (do not steal) just because he’s the son / daughter of all the characters and have all the powers!

>Is anyone else legit concerned about the 7 enemies Ema currently has? I legit can't think of 7, but here's my attempt…
You can have enemies you haven’t actually encountered personally, you know.
>I'm thinking the 3 allies might be Oran, Karn, and either Danus or Justinia.
Aren’t at least one of those extremely skeptical of Ema at the moment?

>Oran could end up turning into some kinda undead monster if he’s not careful!
Since when has ever having some amateur scientist worked on something probably illegal and very dangerous ever gone wrong? Especially when he himself is the test subject?
>I bet he would like being an undead.
Only if it’s the sexy kind (like Ema) and not the person eating monstrosity kind (like Ema… wait…)

Get your facts together Kaktus.

So i guess we need to pay more atention to Oran and Kharn. Those two are a dificult bunch eh?
I you ask me, Yate and the herbalist are alies. Yate might hate Ema, But they are still helping her, for now, and for some reason. Danus can't be argued. He is best husbando.

Look, as far as I'm concerned, we dealt with a perceived threat, we chose violent actions to maximize expected success, but most importantly, it's done. I just want to talk about future actions stemming from this.

For me, this isn't about righteousness or justice. It's about making the best out of a bad situation. You're trying to state a finality of the opinions from this encounter, a sort of "absolute" in our justification of what we chose. That's what scares me; by justifying every portion of our actions with a "they deserved it" attitude, we also mask the various aspects of our decision.

You cannot perfectly describe this situation with one "I killed a bad guy" sentence, it was made of different factors and actions:
1) We recognized them as members of the guard, and chose to make them our enemies.
2) We used supernatural powers and physical eavesdropping to confirm their guilt in child murder, with minimal probability of error.
3) We had multiple pacifist options, but we perceived the guards as a threat to the safety of others, including allied forces.
4) We had the option to spare them, but doing so would add complications, the most pressing of which was time.
5) Consuming them would cause personal problems with hunger increase.
Do you doubt my train of thought?

Good, so do I. Trying to tie all of this up with a "my actions were considered good, therefore all of this was good and rational" is something you celebrate at a Deadpool movie, not real life.

You are right, if we are concern with morality painting the problem in black and white is too simplistic. I wouldn't approve this line of reasoning in the real world mostly because of the lack of Ema's supernatural moral detection.
Of course, the biggest problem with "I killed a bad guy" sentence isn't that it can't be correct, but we can't trust it to be true coming from others. Since in this case Ema would be justify her actions to herself I don't see the problem. But, if we ever try to explain to others better to stick to the facts.

Ultimately the problem isn't about interpret her actions as necessarily good, but taking responsibility for what could be though as collateral damage. Ema isn't good, she is a morally dubious monster, and her purpose is to punish the guilt, not be the hero.
It's possible that the consequences of killing murderous oppressive guards is ultimately bad because there could be other threats that justify a tyrannical regime. That doesn't matter to Ema, because her goal is to dispense justice, severe punishment for severe crimes.

Maybe a confrontation with the kid could be interesting to the story, but it's not beneficial to Ema nor to the boy, so why would Ema seek this encounter? As fas as I'm concerns she should try her best to avoid such confrontation and only face it if led by events outside her control.

So there is a decision to make about the child? This will not only make changes in the world around Ema, but probalby within Ema herself. We can influence this aspect of "monster that just enacts justice" or "someone that tries to make the right thing". I think it is an interesting view that we should keep in consideretion, for the roleplaying aspect of the story.

I have some society questions.
So do Sakkilian males have what we would consider feminine voices, and females masculine?

Is human masculinity and femininity the same as how we know it?

Which gender is dominant for Varkians? Most birds have dominant males, but the Varkians seen so far seem to indicate otherwise (or they could either just be into that or it could be a case of when in rome do as the romans do). Was Vivian really a peacock? She seemed more like a bluejay and female peacocks are usually brown.

From what I have gathered, Serpens male and females are both submissive and the third sex is the dominant one (and has a hood), is this correct?

Hang on, the Vivian thing makes sense if she was born male and had a sex change rather than being born as a female with a penis.

>So do Sakkilian males have what we would consider feminine voices, and females masculine?
Sakkilian voices are rather similar to human ones, not counting that females usually have a bit deeper voices thanks to their size, though preferences are rather different. Females usually prefer males with lighter, softer voices while males prefer females with deeper voices.
>Is human masculinity and femininity the same as how we know it?
Human centric societies are generally more male dominant, though the constant exposure to the other species cultures does change things, both ways.

>Which gender is dominant for Varkians?
Neither, for the most part. They do easily change depending on outside factors, which is why they are more female dominant in a Sakkilian society as seen in Feast of Souls.
>Was Vivian really a peacock?
Vivi was blue with green tail feathers. Make of it what you will, but Varkian aren’t exactly like other species of birds, are they?
>Hang on, the Vivian thing makes sense if she was born male and had a sex change rather than being born as a female with a penis.
Vivian was born male in a female centric society, in a rather well off family that really wanted a daughter. Her parents tried to remedy this fact with magic and a strict upbringing, which left Vivi less than… well afterwards.

>From what I have gathered, Serpens male and females are both submissive and the third sex is the dominant one (and has a hood), is this correct?
While the third sex, Ovales, are generally a bit bigger than the others, Serpents generally value skill and expertise above things like looks and size. That’s why Tunu is attracted to Oran and is willing to look past his awkwardness and lack of arm, as someone with his kind of education and mind is very attractive to someone that lack one like her.

In fact, Tunu does kind of desire for Oran to be the more dominant one in the relationship, as she sees him as someone above her, but as Oran hasn’t had a lot of exposure to Serpents culture and norms (or any other norms about romance), he is a bit lost on what to do.

Kaktus, I haven't said this before, but i just want you to know that i love the universes that you create, at least the ones i have been following. They are so alive, so well thought. I am having a blast with this quest!
Just wanted to let you know.
>>
No. 126357 ID: a9af05

Hey, Kaktus, considering how the quest is starting to look like the military is redacting their secrets, I think it might be best if from now on we stay in control of Ema instead of switching to the person we want her to eat. That'll help cut down on the people purposefully sabatoging the quest.

I mean, it was an interesting mechanic when it first showed up with Tunu, but now it's getting really annoying with Terroza.

But if you really want to keep switching away from Ema, then it might be better to switch to someone that could help Ema eat whoever she's targeting.
>>
No. 126358 ID: b1b4f3

Either that, or keep these swaps short? Like, okay, seeing through the prey's eyes as they inevitably get eaten is fun for a while but the longer we stay with them the more people are going to either get bored or frustrated due to the prey not being dead yet and thus our suggestions being mostly pointless. I mean the only thing we seem to be accomplishing right now is inflicting temporary harm on the birdbrain or the glutton.
>>

>>126357 >>126358
Yeah, I'm in favor of these.
The swaps can be fun, but when it's someone we're about to eat, it doesn't feel like it's doing much other than wasting time.
Playing as Drago or Oran is fine, but Soul-Vore Victim #23 tends to be rather boring because we know exactly what's gonna happen in a moment.
>>
No. 126461 ID: eeb7d9

>That'll help cut down on the people purposefully sabatoging the quest.
I personally don't see it as "sabotaging", but i do have to agree, it is getting kind of tedious, all this arguing. Making the swap of characters shorter might help. We obviously can't agree on how to interact with the antagonists.

Feast of souls is on a small break because I needed some rest from it, mostly because things kind of got into a rut and it started dragging a bunch. (There might also have been a bunch of university stuff popping up in real life as well).

>Kaktus, is there any real logic behind when Ema gets too hungry? It seems arbitrary and unpredictable.
The three major factors are time, power usage and sheer gluttony.
She will get hungrier over time, which is pretty obvious, but she will also need to feed more often the more she uses her powers, so things like regrowing limbs will pretty much starve her.
She will also react to the presence of really evil people, as her body really wants to enact Justice upon them and thus it makes itself hungry to force her to feed.

>Question: why aren't the swords directing Ema towards older and weaker sinners more often? Everyone she has eaten so far has been relatively young and hip.
The only one the sword is directing her towards is whoever is responsible for the slaughter of her village. As for old, evil people, they are generally people with power and not some thug running around in the street, thus making them harder targets to find. Heck, the baroness is supposed to be someone that’s beyond their middle age.
>Too easy, and not fun to fuck.
Also, that.
