The way I read it, I think that is like "I may not agree with that, but I will defend your right to do it"

My thought is that the "Yamato Cannon Fire!" image is probably the greatest single moment this quest can ever possibly have. It is epic and attention grabbing. Unfortunately, it's all down hill from here. >_<

See, thats the part where I'm not sure what to say. You only get better at writing about a subject by writing it, but you drive people away if you cant write it well... Catch 22 anyone?

Lets see if you can find a solution in there somewhere.

Editors and selective audience testing. Get a FEW people that are something of a cross-section of your full audience and run something by them, see how they react.

Also I was wondering about the things on the clothes. Guess that's answered now. Insofar as we know what they are, but not why everyone has them.

whats the max mgic we can carry? in ff8 it was 99.

you say we might have Gf. does that mean we will have junctions? like strenght? if so does junctionuing higher level speells give a larger bost? completing some quests might become a lot easyer
>kill a mountain!

how will Gfs work? do they just pop in and attack once then leave? do they take damage for us when you cast them? and if you dont have mana can we spam them like in ff8?

lastly do Gfs have Ap? I notice that you have Xp.

unfortunately grind drawing is not very possible. Blake will often try to avoid fights if at all possible. due to his kind and wussy nature. and as you can tell dogging is not always so easy. so spamming draw can yes get you a lot of power... but it can also be a dangerous dance.

redroot is a common illness amongst terrakin (animalkin) it is caused by prolonged exposure to dirty rags, cloths and leathers. the illness starts in the skin. in this stage it is undetectable. within a few days it spreads into the small red spots. redroot can be removed trough the application of medicine to the contaminated spot. how ever due to fur. it can sometimes be difficult to locate redroot at the first few stages. the third stage is marked by the spreading of the spots into a large rash on the general contaminated area. the main difference between a normal rash and redroot is that a rash mostly affects the skin were redroot affects the flesh as well. the third stage is also marked by searing pain. similar to most rashes only far worst due to the nature of the illness. redroot is named as such due to the main ingredient in the medicine. (bell tree root) the roots of bell trees are a vibrant red beneath the bark. if left untreated. (this is rare since redroot medicine is cheap) redroot can attain its latter stages. also known as greyroot. greyroot is... far worst. where redroot is a mere painful rash. greyroot is a full out flesh eating disease. the contaminated areas slowly melt away revealing bone and cartilage. greyroot is known as such not due to the medicine. but the color of the infected areas. medicine for greyroot is very expensive. generally if you cant afford redroot medicine. you cant afford greyroot medicine. thus the most common cure for greyroot is bullets. professor Maggoty Salem discovered in 1765 that greyroot eats away at the flesh by corrupting the white blood cells and causing them to attack the infected flesh. destroying the body slowly.

Geoffrey is an Ixizoi. (i-xi-zo-i) the ixisoi are a intelligent race on par with humans. they don not posses necks. there head merely float above there shoulders. they float due to mystical force. the head can be removed and reattached with out immediate consequences. the "neck" (mystical force) does how ever have a force of about twenty pounds. (it would take the strength to lift twenty pounds to detach an ixisoi's head.) once detached the head is still conscious and fully capable. the body how ever is lifeless. if the body is not feed it will die of hunger. a head can not reattach to a dead body. nor can it attach to a body that is not its own.

males do not posses eyes. they do how ever see life. to them it appears as a glow about things that are alive. they can also see things that were alive. the glow how ever is faint. (a wooden table for example would still be visible) females have eyes but can not see life. all ixizoi are color blind.

ixizoi have tails that help balance. they are much taller than most humanoid species. (males range from 6-8 feet where females range in the 5 feet) females have very large hands.(generally 1foot long and proportional to human hands)

ixizoi do not eat food. they eat life. this is seen a blue, green, red or orange mist (depending on the nature (animal blue, plant green, fungus red, other generally orange.)) flowing from there food into there mouths. ixizoi only get hungry about once a week. small animals like cats or rabbits (not Blake or Rover. actual rabbits... feral things) are enough to satisfy most ixizoi. some more rich ixizoi may consume human food and not swallow only to savor the taste of meat or other foods. (they don't have necks or throats. how COULD they swallow?)

ixizoi are quite different than most in there sexes. the males you see carry the children and the females inseminate the males. (simply put... there all a bunch of dickgirls and cuntboys) the males naturally grow large beards. like a dwarf. they how ever, unlike dwarfs, cut there beards incessantly. the beards you see. grow at alarming rates. a bald face will grow to a dorf caliber beard in only a week. so a small tame beard for ixizoi is a sign of culture, discipline and respect. it also attracts females. quite like how large breasts attracts human males. small beards are sexy. none how ever is somewhat disgusting. like breasts that are too large.

females with large breasts often enjoy flaunting them off. it is not uncommon to see a female ixizoi walk around topless. males how ever tend to react negatively to seeing there chests. its considered disgraceful for any ixizoi to have a flat chest. male or female. women tend to wear the pants in that society.

they are strongly encrusted in human society. this is due to there technological advancements around the year 370. they seem to have some cultural similarities to the haruny (also known as temporal dust bunnies) and the timezelus (no spoilers will be offered as for these last two races. it would ruin Jamesquest)

Bronx is the ixizoi capital. its large and very industrial. there is a brown smog at ground level in almost all sectors of Bronx that blocks out a lot of color and causes most thing to be seen as brown or sepia... the ixizoi don't seem to notice however. especially not the males.

I think it's mainly your punctuation and capitalization. Many of your sentences lack capital letters at the beginning. Also, you tend to post run-on sentences without punctuation marks to separate them.

Example:

>I'm not very familiar with this board can anyone explain it?
Should have been:
>I'm not very familiar with this board. Can anyone explain it?

Also, you don't use commas.

Some common typos I've seen include:
there =/= their ("there" indicates a location; "their" is a plural possessive)
however =/= how ever ("however" is one word)

- announcement -

since I HATE rendering my pictures, I'm gonna start just posting my hand drawn versions. (seriously I'm doing this with a mouse you know) when I get a tablet I'll go back to digital. Or if you all find it to be an eye sore I'll have no choice but to please. Until then please enjoy my artwork.

Furthermore. After doing a few sketches I fell in love with a few new characters in Blakequest. How ever I'm sad to say that it would be illogical for blake or Eden to get the chance to really get to know these characters very well, and they start being important really late in the story. So since I like them so much I'm considering doing a one shot involving them that parallels Blakequest.

If anyone wants to see the sketches just ask. And if your interested in learning more about this other quest I don't mind giving some previews.

Personally I enjoy conversation and description. The more there is, the more content there is to the story, and it's rather necessary if you're using your quest in a large-scope setting. If it's a very close-to-reality setting or one that's deliberately vague (such as in many "You Awaken In A Facility" quests) shorter posts are more appropriate, but if you want to color a big picture, you need a lot of ink.

I am raging. Two seconds in google would tell you that spiders have eight legs and a cephalothorax. (i.e. not a separate head). I mean, I knew that in elementary school - who the fuck doesn't know how many legs a spider has, at least? I find the three body segments more forgivable, but I still do not forgive you for it.

allow me to explain. They are not spiders but rather large bugs, known as lurkers. They live in dens dug at the bottom of lakes and other large water masses. they hunt their prey by striking them with their jelly fish like tentacles, paralyzing them then dragging them into the water drowning their victims. They do not spin webs, but do have venomous stingers in their abdomens.

Blake didn't know what they where and assumed they were spiders since he didn't know how else to call them.

but yes, they are far from being arachnids.

I'm still trying things here. so combat scenes, Eden and other things in this quest may not be perfect.

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this quest, I have yet to specifie a main quest. But through trial and error I've concluded what it wont be:.. Although it does contain Romance, It's not porn quest, this was confirmed immediately after during the sex scene, since I'm incompetent as an artist.

BlakeQuest is sorta like a beta. Really just building up Quest experience for my other quests.

But yah... I'm gonna log off for a few days. I'm not feeling my self, and I might start a new quest... A short one, probably Guss Quest. It'd be like a prequel to Qwern quest.
>>
No. 29812 ID: af0e5c

I'm sorry to tell you, but all quest experience is not good quest experience. Knowing how to make a quest half the board actively avoids is not very good preparation for a real quest, unless you do the exact opposite of what you did before.
>>
No. 29821 ID: 412c0b

>>339612

my goal exactly. Creating a "bad" quest was an accident. An accident I will not reproduce. this is what is called trial and error.

More over to insure that my next Stories don't fail as much it would be nice to get constructive criticism, in order to help me learn. This is not an excuse to troll or rage, just help out a fellow artist.

I already know about the sex scene problem. But could you point out some other reasons why you don't like my quest?

>>
No. 29826 ID: 9c9de5

>>339624
I don't think people are generally overly harsh on this site. They hardly complain about any quest at all.

>>339621
Maybe it's partially your trial and error tactic that's responsible for the circumstance, that your quest is not working for me.
You mash too many genres that just don't work well together in an attempt to test, which one works best for you. While a reader generally will accept the most obscure plot point as long as it fits the genre, if you combine too many genres and stack too many different elements in a short amount of time it might put the reader off.
This means that if you keep combining ear sex, fire magic, memory shards, shonen style battle confrontations, slice of life drama, etc. the outcome doesn't work - at least not for me.

Also your trial and error tactic creates the problem, that you can't establish what kind of world your quest takes place in, because you are trying out different settings. When your character suddenly can use magic it should have been established from the beginning, that using magic in this world is a possibility (unless you're writing in a setting where that's assumed automatically - I wouldn't have any complains if it would be suddenly revealed, that some people can cast spells in a high fantasy setting for example).

Those were some of the reasons why I stopped reading this quest in the middle of the first chapter, but since you still have some players who seem to enjoy it, maybe those points raised by me are not universally loathed.
>>
No. 29829 ID: 412c0b

>>339626

Thank you. I see my problems now, That being said aside from the combat style. (Because BlakeQuest was supposed to have action in it.) I'm pretty sure where I'm going now.

Basically, my plan from here on out is as followed... In BlakeQuest, You (Eden) attempt to uncover the dark and mysterious past of Blake Steelheart, as well as your own. As a side story, Blake eventually has to choose a faction from a small list, not only to find out more about him self but also to help save/destroy/neutralize the world/human race/all life on the planet. (this is a difficult choice. fortunately you only need to make a choice this big one or twice.)

Adorned with character development and the occasional fight scene. Blake quest also offers a sorta custom character system, since Blake has no real personality the choices you influence him to take alter who he is. as well as the occasional memory fragment. (the fact that you don't have to watch them changes how Blake develops.)
>>
No. 29832 ID: 412c0b

as a resume: fights and self discovery.

also, I'd want to develop on the world since most of my other plans for quest take place in the same world. I've tried hinting towards some of the facts of life in Terramore, but it woulds seem I'll have to be more direct. As you may have noticed I love writhing long walls of text that explain the various races and species of Terramore. But I understand if no one likes reading them.

Once again thank you for your criticism.

Yes. I understand why I should not use sergals. In fact I have decided to avoid them in my stories completely. I simply do not understand them enough to think I may use them for but one instant. the idea that I could was a mistake of height magnitude. Blakequest does, how ever posses one particular red furred sergal faced individual that was unfortunately identified as sergal but will not be remembered as such. Your statement and prior statements were real eye openers and I thank you greatly.

yeah, I've been struggling to push the quest in some direction lately.

You see, as for Blake quest its self, the idea was that an array of possible outcomes would be possible and Eden would be able to choose WHERE the quest leads Blake. That's why I made a lot of characters for /Quest/ to socialize with and eventually chose and pick favorites. I had planned a possible 25 ending and am willing to end with neither one of them, the quest can go in five possible directions and if willed you can forge new ones.

I should have been more obvious about this, I just assumed that letting Eden choose the main quest in chapter one would do the trick, but I was mistaken. (although, for a moment the main quest was really to crush mountains and obtain boats.) Soon the real main quest should be easy to grasp and define.

also, here's a little tip. Blake is not the main character. Eden is.

The reason I dislike BlakeQuest (a dislike I haven't been vocal about) stems purely from the quest itself (f.eks, the infamous ear-sex scene).

That is to say, I won't ignore another quest you may decide to make, simply because of my dislike of BlakeQuest.

Well, it started off alright enough, I'll admit, but it just seemed to lose a lot of steam fast. It seems like the whole thing has ADHD and can't focus on a central plot, or even -why- we are doing anything. Too many things are being introduced after the other, but that's just me.

Also the random sex scene was a BIG NO NO. I mean if you want to throw in some minor fanservice here and there that's fine, but straight up sex was just a bad idea.

Another thing would be a switch in the artstyle; it just adds to the whole inconsistency of the whole thing.

In all, it seems BlakeQuest was made to cater to
the supposed likes of others rather than being
your own thing.

I doubt anyone would boycott you if you made another quest, though.

yeah I wasn't sure where I wanted to bring this quest either, but I think I know it now.
as for the sex scene... yeah I agree with you, crappy sex scenes belong on other sites, besides what's the average age group here anyways?
the art style can be explained quite simply. I did almost all of chapter 1 with a mouse, I don't own a pad. Eventually I just got pissed at it and started drawing everything by hand. But yeah it sorta clashes when you read it, I'm sorry. I'll avoid changing to drastically.

that being said thank you very much for your support. I feel very sad these days and I feel that the world hates me. But it makes me feel better to know that you don't all hate me for messing up once or twice. Thank you :)

I'm going to go ahead and reinforce what the previous posters have said. Sex in a quest isn't necessarily a bad thing, the trick is pulling it off TASTEFULLY. Like a simple fade to black. Keep it cleverly censored (like the most recent update to Oren), and don't get too freaky with it.

Also, here's a little tip that could help. Make yourself a list. On this list you will write down specific important plot points you want to have happen, in chronological order. Not every single thing you want to have happen in the quest, just the really important stuff, like going to Town X, or acquiring magic gubbin #4. What happens in between these different plot points is the suggestions that come from your readers.

And it's been iterated on this board time and time again, and it will continue to be re-iterated: Have a planned end goal for your quest. This way you have something to work towards instead of "well derp what do we do now?"

This may seem a bit random, but I kind of liked the original art style better. It was more distinctive, and the thicker lines made things seem a bit more solid. The current style is good too, I just prefer the old one a bit.

Back when it was computer generated or when I was using a black pen to outline everything?

I meant during the early parts of the first topic.

Actually, looking back on it, it wasn't as good as I remember it. The more recent parts are better drawn.

Anything that's not Blakequest, because Blakequest is quite honestly a disaster that should never be mentioned again.

Yeah. Based on the general consensus around here, I think it'd be better if you tried a new quest.

As for which one? Well, from what you mentioned, (b) sounds like something I'd enjoy more than (a).

...and probably more likely to get people to give it another shot at reading your work.
>The new quest will either consist of fast paced action sci-fi involving dwarfs. Or a slower more character oriented quest in the early 240's, equally involving dwarfs.
The former, for preference.
