LOOK! LOOK HOW MUCH GETS DONE BY POSTING IN THIS THREAD SDF, IT'S JUST /B/, BUT WITH LESS PEOPLE, AND ONLY ONE SUBJECT'S ARGUMENT NEVER BEING RESOLVED.
I WOULD HELP AND BRING UP A USEFUL SUBJECT AND TAKE CAPSLOCK OFF, BUT THIS THREAD DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT'S WORTH THE BOTHER.
SO MAYBE IF YOU STARTED THE THREAD A LITTLE MORE SERIOUSLY IT WOULD TAKE A LITTLE WHILE LONGER TO INEVITABLY SPIRAL INTO SOME FORM OF POINTLESS ARGUMENT, AND THAT PRECIOUS EXTRA TIME COULD BE SPENT GETTING SOME POINTERS DOWN IN SOME FORM OF A DISCUSSION.

I'M NOT EVEN ANGRY.

Oh no a thread in which there hasn't really even been any attempt at discussion, I guess it's better to shit up the actual quest thread than even try to discuss anything!

If your only options are cluttering the quest thread with nonsense or not posting at all, then you know what? Don't. Fucking. Post. At. All.

I didn't really think this would be necessary, but obviously I was grossly mistaken, so here are some basic guidelines for one and all:
Is your post a suggestion?
-If yes, it goes in the quest thread.
-If not, it goes in the discussion thread.
-If maybe, then it's not an actual suggestion. Either change it until it's an actual suggestion or take it to the discussion thread.

Additional guidelines for suggestions:
Is your suggestion realistic or physically possible within the setting (see all previous events)?
-If yes, you won't be shot for Bolshevism.
-If not, it may backfire if you keep pushing it.
Is your suggestion immediate in terms of the quest's pacing?
-If yes, then you will not be shot for Bolshevism.
-If not, then it is not viable. Long-term objectives can be reached in steps and can easily and thoroughly be discussed in the discussion thread.
Is your suggestion directed to someone other than the active character?
-If yes, then it will be ignored entirely.
-If not, then it can actually have an effect on the quest. What kind of effect it will be depends on your understanding of the quest. If you haven't paid any attention, you just might turn out to be an elf.

Do you want a Sir Double-Faggot gold account?
-If yes, then you must meet the requirements.
-If not, then you are an obvious Bolshevik trying to keep me from getting ludicrously rich for the minimum possible effort and I don't think that's fair.
But what are the duckflipping requirements, fuckdamnit?!
-You must unlock one of the Hidden Achievements, which can exists both within quests and entirely outside of tgchan - as well as anything inbetween.

I hate Apple products! They need close to ten programs running just to do one thing poorly!
-Yes.

Yes I get the picture (emergency cooperating timez!! D: ), it was very late and I was angry about something unspecific that day, and usually I'm not one for screwing things up when that happens (reviewing it I have no idea what made me go that far for that idea). So my sincerest apologies if I caused your brow to furrow at my thoughtless bitching crappily disguised as an attempt at a suggestion.

I had read through the whole recorded (according to the wiki's links to archives) thing earlier that day and it's an awesome story so far, I just let myself put my annoyance into the internet like people seem to do these days (again, I don't know why I decided to do that, seeing as you make such awesomely good things happen in this quest) (;_;)^2

Maybe I should disguise myself as different anonymous so that you don't recognize my face in the crowd :p

(what's that you say...? nothing? nobody? alright then... I'll just make discussion with myself)

Getting hold of the fort is kind of like getting the fort at the "end" of Stick RPG, so does that mean Joan will make it her permanent home? or does it smell too much like elf faeces?

Also, how long is the time frame between her being stuck in the tunnel and now, seeing as it's one event after the other and there were no "(x years later)" panels?

It's funny (and by that I mean not) that >>349522 first goes full retard and after being told/schooled/owned is actually proven correct when nobody else posts and discus.

So let's put the discus thread to some fuckdamn duckflipping use because >>/quest/326589 said a word that coincided with a thing, bringing up a point.

Let's start with the word "montage". Unfortunately I'm not all but a virgin when it comes to making using moviemaking or flash software and making videos, so even though it would have the best soundtrack ever, there won't be a video/flash. It would also be a lot of work, even at best potentially a pointlessly disproportionate amount of work at that.
So then the options left are pretty much:
a) Regular update format but using ten or more images in a single update.
b) Comic format.

And that brings us so conveniently to the second thing. Which is basically a kind of a spoiler, but could only be avoided by not discussing any of this - which would just bring everything back to square one with either the spoiler or a forced solution being the only possible conclusions. But I'll tag it just on principle or something.
Joandventure is ending! This isn't an arbitrary and/or sudden decision, as Joandventure is at one of the planned points that are good places to end the quest.
So in the end it's a question of how to end the quest, with a typical quest-format "cutscene" or a comic (or perhaps something else, although at the moment I can't really think of anything viable).

And just to negate the point of spoiler tags, I'll continue onto something that pretty much counts as a spoiler contextually.

Namely, I'm going to quit quests, perhaps excepting some short "one-shot" stuff in the vein of Put Away Escapade and Holiday Issues. If you're a quick person with your brains, you might have already realized that this also means canceling NPDT.
There are several reasons for this:
-It's not fun anymore. Here on tgchan it takes ages for enough suggestions to be posted, which really kills the flow. I can waste an entire day for a single update, basically doing an hour's work in 8-12 hours becaus) I have too much time to overthink everything over and over and there's no pressure to and reward for being fast. Back in the 4chan/tg/ days I could take that 8 hours and have a huge update marathon.
This was fun because the feedback was immediate and there was a pressure to update and a reward for succeeding. The advantages of tgchan only really show in the archives, with completed quests, where you can happily ignore timestamps and enjoy the theoretically improved art (and maybe writing) which was/is allowed by tgchan's slow pace. Reading archived quests is better than ever, but actually making or reading an active quest? A pain in the ass. Everything takes too much time. The story feels like it drags on because you only get it in small pieces over a very long timeframe, you can't feel the progression. Any serious(ish) and long story would be a project for years to come.
-I really shouldn't be doing this shit anyway. Not because quests are somehow bad as a concept or such, but because it actually gets in the way of what I should be doing. In short, quests don't bring me income, not through donations and at least Joandventure really isn't something I could turn into a profitable thing, for example a comic book/graphic novel/whatever fancy shit term you want to use.
We're also trying to sell the house and move so there's a whole lot of shit to do in that context.

A webcomic has the potential to be profitable to at least some degree, so it doesn't really get in the way even if I spent "too much" time on it and over time it could even be sold in a compiled physical format. I also considered a semi-interactive comic - conceptually - but unless popular enough, it would have the same problem with slow "suggestions" as tgchan, with the added risk of looking stupid running it with only a handful of suggestions over for example a week. And at worst it would only end up as a comic which is unnecessarily slow to do and lets people stick their dick in the story.
And with a webcomic, I need a host and domain and that won't be free so it makes little sense to shit it up with, uh, things. Especially if it's not just a side thing, but a part of the main business (if not the main business itself) and as such a kind of a brand name thing.
Maybe it's pointless to talk about this here, but putting into words clears it up a bit for me, in a sort of thinking-out-loud way.

So discus this and that.

No. 39960 ID: 66afc5

it's sad but true. tgchan needs more love.

as for the montage thing: shouldn't you, as the artist of the story, be the most capable person to tell which format would be the method allowing you to present the sequence the best?

>shouldn't you, as the artist of the story, be the most capable person to tell which format would be the method allowing you to present the sequence the best?
Well, yes and no. Comic format might be better, but it would most likely stick out like a sore thumb no matter how much better it might be, on the whole. Basically it's a choice between tried and true and something new and different. It's a quest so a more quest-like finish could be preferable, even though a comic might look better on its own.

And it is the last choice suggesters have any say in (quest thread suggestions seem to sufficiently agree with going straight to the throne, so I'm pretty much locking that) and I don't want to drag the damn thing on anymore.

I was 589... (/Spartacus)

I think a simple elongated image of vertically successive panels would go with the current layout, while still being comic-like. If you want a good ending, initially use small events, then build it up with greater and greater scenes, then end on a grand scene of something very memorable happening, that people will be happy to remember for quite a while after the end of Joanquest, like something they have been asking to happen for a long, long while.

I don't if I should be actively bumping this thread constantly just to get the interested parties to notice this damn thing or if the interest in this vote and/or the quest is really that low.

So far the vote is as follows:
Regular: 1
Comic: 2
Apparent critical reading comprehension failure: 1
Entirely unnecessary advice which doesn't even really apply to either of the options: 1
Video which I already explained I won't do in any shape or form: 1

Just to clarify: The vote is about which of the two, mutually exclusive options I already know how to do you want to see the most.
Not about what to do or how to do it. Not about whether or not I should do it at all. Not about when to do it or what color scheme to use.
It's quite simply just a poll to see if people prefer the quest to end in its usual format or if they want to see how it would look in comic format, with a very high chance of the more popular option to be used.

I don't know if I explained this properly before, but I thought it was clear enough.

Well, it sort of depends on what kind of comic you'd do! Are we talking the classical superhero-style full-page with speech bubbles and narration boxes thing? That would give you a lot of freedom, but also probably clash the most with the previous material. A sort of panel-column thing with captions, which I think I understand is what you're suggesting in the other option anyway, is also a form of comic. I'd vote for that, if it's a choice between the two. There's a couple of options in between, as well.

What sort of comics are your style?
>>

>What sort of comics are your style?
The kind with drawings? Since I don't have to worry about things like printing limitations and such because the quest isn't really print-worthy at all, anything's possible. Hell, I could make the image diagonal and have the panels read in a spiral pattern and animate it to flash positive and negative colors, no problem.

As for the regular option, it'll probably be regular posts, so I can attach text when/if necessary without fancy tricks.
>>
No. 40412 ID: 1a940c

>>350208

I respect the notion of infinite canvas, but it sort of makes it hard to choose "comic" if there's no idea of what that'll be. Quests themselves can be argued to be a form of comic, so it's like if you were asking how to tell a story and gave the options of 1) A short theatrical script or 2) Writing.

I am sort of curious to see what you'd do, though. So, I'll vote comic anyway.

Resurrection bunp and announcement on account of final update by 24.11. This is two weeks plus change, which should be enough considering what said two weeks look like at the moment.

No, I won't be playing Skyrim, thanks for asking, on account of you being horrible, inhuman communist scum who haven't provided me the income to afford a machine that could run games made later than last decade. I hope you lose sleep over this.

Also a mod should raise the quest thread from its grave so that I don't have to play around with internet relay chats.

So I accidentally Skyrim anyway, which ate five (5) days which I could've otherwise spent drawing. I also may have gone ever so slightly overboard with the page I'm currently sketching and will probably continue in a similar vein for at least a further half a page.

A quick person may have noticed that this means I won't meet the arbitrary deadline I set while having a good day, drawing-wise.
Also I might actually end up with closer to 20 pages instead of the ten-ish I eye-balled before starting.

Not that anyone's actually following any of this.
