I just made this thread to guage how people are enjoying/loathing Space Marine Quest. You know, so I don't always trail off in the wrong direction because I was never told otherwise.

Also, to discuss general issues like strategy or story or whatever else.

All contributions are appreciated, first quest and all that.

I love it so far, but it's kinda hard to suggest for. Art is great and the writing is awesomely 40k, but for a lot of siiltuations so far we mostly just decide to apply zeal. Also, rereading the thread I noticed that I had skipped a few non-image updates. Using a title or a placeholder radio image to help visually differentiate yourself from suggestors might help new readers avoid that mistake.

The arts pretty cool and it's got sufficient amounts of gore for something 40K. Can't complain about the writting, it all seems solid. Basically maximum enjoyment, minimum loathing, although I might be a little bias, because y'know; Space Marines fuck yeah.

Neat. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming if something hits you.

Also, I would like to comment regarding the mechanics of the quest. I won't be making a big fuss of stats or skills.

When I ask you to roll a die, I probably have already rolled my own. The goal is to simply match or succeed my roll. I will also add or subtract bonuses if the situation is befitting. For example:

I roll 1 d100 and get 45.
You need to roll 45 or higher to have a successful outcome over whatever challenge I have issued.

Regarding inventory, I was going to make it a little more complex than what it is, but it's as basic as possible, really. You have unlimited ammunition for now, and five grenades. Obviously you have a knife and your suit can withstand things like fists, most knives and poisonous gas effortlessly.

I guess that's about it for now. I'll add stuff as I think of it.

Okay, so I made for the quest what are essentially electronic sockpuppets. Now I can live out all of my sick fantasies with them!

:reinhardt:> "Ooh Jingles, you are quite the man, aren't you?"

:jingles:> "Yes."

But anyway, it's more about further engineering the quest to be easier to read and generally developing the thing as a whole. Now it will be more clear as to who is speaking and whatnot.

Continue as you were.

Not super-new information (a couple of days old), but Space Marine Quest now possesses an entry in the quest.lv wiki. This will be updated as the quest progresses and more characters are introduced.

Obviously there is a lot more that I could add, but I have more important matters to address for the time being.

Actually, I did have something beyond moronic updates here. I want to know what readers think of being allowed to design certain characters. It might give readers a greater level of involvement in the quest, and maybe open the door for more variety as far as design goes.

Good idea or not?

Sure people always enjoy customising characters.

Just be prepared to see members of the Steve Marines, the Emperor's most holy Xeno catchers, that catch foul xeno creatures and then pit them against each other in fights to the death. The remains are showed into a small ball and tossed at heretics.

Well I wasn't going to let readers design space marines because

a) We'll have canon breakers like Steve Marines that people will make for the lulz.

b) Apparently nobody can draw space marines in the first place.

I meant more fleshy characters, few of them as there are now. Also, what about if I made like, a data-slate or something as the base? That could be cool. I dunno. I won't implement it just yet.

Or you could quickly go through the Deathwatch RPG character generation process, abstracting some of the hardcore stats and throwing in a bit more personality and flavour. That'll create generally acceptable and varied marines.

Currently I have two more marines planned: Koreth and Moreus. One of which is a lot more developed in my mind than the other. It'd probably be better if I made actual notes, and then I would have a more tangible resource to work with.

The other space marine, as far as character goes, is nothing yet. I have a basic idea for his appearance, but I'm working on it. It's hard, and maybe not appropriate to make them all super-different.

I'd like to have a few comments by the fellow marines thrown in more often in the quest. Like comments and mid-battle reports so we know what's going on.

I'd like to to get a bit further inside the heads of the Imperial Fists.

Roger. Sounds like a plan.
