Hey people, Kaed here.

I was recommended the action of making one of these, too. So I did.

Hi.

I want to give a brief apology here for the low quality of my posts - at the moment, I am pretty much working with a 6"x4" notepad, a mechanical pencil, and a cell phone camera. Despite that, I feel like the quality has improved a bit since I started, both in drawing skill and learning to use the camera better.

There probably could be something said here about perserverence in the face of frustrating odds, but I won't say it.

Wait...

Sure is pretty quiet in here. Also, I notice most of the suggestions lately come from the same guy.

Thanks, Zig, though I really hope you will not be the only regular participant. xD

Hahah wow that actually worked.

Well, updates should pick up now that I have figured out I can upload right from my phone rather than through ridiculous data relays.

You're doing great so far! Don't worry about the limited suggesters, you'll gain more the longer the quest runs. And the amount of suggesters does not always equal the amount of readers! Also, yeah, EveryZig is a great guy. I swear, he reads every quest on the board. There's also a pretty nice person around here by the name of "Tenyoken" IIRC. S/he LOVES sergals, so whenever s/he shows up that's pretty much a guaranteed suggester.

Some things I would recommend, though: If you intend to keep running this quest to completion, you may want to invest in a cheap scanner for clearer images. Plot may be more important than the art, but good art attracts more readers. Also, pace yourself between updates. This is a REALLY slow board so people don't check it all that often. With more time between updates, you'll get more suggesters that way and you won't burn out as quickly either.

Oh, and one more thing: The wiki is an invaluable resource. There's plenty of FAQs and quality quests to study from.

Thank you for the advice, Trout!

However, as much as I would like to get a scanner, this is literally the only option available to me right now, because I am currently jobless and homeless.

Yep, this quest is written entirely by a bum who got a phone as a birthday gift last month and was inspired by talks with his favorite quest artist, TestPattern. (cause I also like sergals)

As my situation improves, hopefully so will my image quality.

I imagine the worst part of this setup is having to redraw a background every panel.

Sorry I haven't been suggesting much. I guess I'm just kinda used to not suggesting very much at all, a thing which I keep meaning to rectify.

Not to rain on that parade or anything, but if you're in dire financial straights, do be careful you're not racking up ridiculous mobile data charges doing this.

Nah, this provider offers unlimited use of of a lot of basic features, like calling, texting, and web browsing. I examined my contract pretty closely before starting this.

You would think so, but the way I see it, I just get more practice. Plus I try to make things as consistant as possible, like the markings on the pedestal.

Gants is the most courageous explorer ever.

He is a real cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

We are nearing the end of Part 1 now.

Any questions, feedback, or suggestions should be put here, unless they are 'get a scanner', or 'here is the Running a Quest wiki page', because I have seen both already. :)

Hello Kaed! I love your quest. ^.V.^ Is it possible for Gants to have a family we can meet? He did mention them after all.

It is certainly possible, but if you say close attention, you will notice both that he has not seem them for some time and that they do not get along. ;)

so likely not until much later.

Aw, I just saw you call me a nice person. Thanks Trout! Also, I'm male. Guess nobody asked before. Also yeah, if I comment on a quest, I'm in it for the long run unless the story gets too dark for me, like Hatchquest.

It's supposed to be a sergal face.

But really, yes, unless you're a quest author you really shouldn't be posting with a name and email listed, and even quest authors don't throw in their emails.

(I notice that nobody complains when I do it because I am apparently close enough to conformity.)

Sorry to butt in here but I think it's a matter of annoyance rather than concern. The default assumption when someone puts an email in the email field is that they're a troll trying to rally people to attack that email address by pretending it's theirs and acting really annoying. Either that or this is their very first time posting and they failed to realize that an email is not necessary to post. That's basically the only reason anyone would do that, outside of a few special one-time circumstances where a person says "I am posting my email in this one post for X reason". I am not necessarily saying that is the case with you, but it's something to think about. So basically here are some people saying "stop doing this, it's annoying", and your reply is "no thanks i am a speshul snowflake". $0.02.
>>
No. 51164 ID: fa9f7e

>>360963
Pretty much this. "I use email addresses and emoticons and silly nicknames because I are a speshul snowflake" is the impression you give off. If you're trolling, 4/10, bit too obvious. If not, it's not exactly conductive to making friends.
>>
No. 51165 ID: fa9f7e

Also, there's sage, such as this, but that's not really email and doesn't actually count for social purposes.
>>
No. 51204 ID: 03ee4e

Sorry guys, I'm not trying to be annoying, just friendly. And trolling? Never! Trolling is just mean spirited.
>>
No. 51207 ID: f6276d

Alright guys, lets not turn this discussion thread into Quest Etiquette 101.

Personally, I always find it nice to know who is suggesting something. 'Suggestion' leaves something to be desired as a name.

And I can always tell when Ten has commented because only his name is ever a bright blue hyperlink. Plus his suggestions are so easy to misinterpret for laughs,
like in the update I just made.

That aside, I really am having fun doing this quest, now that Gants is not the only speaking character. Drawing that northern sergal's mane is a hassle though.

Don't worry, I really like your art style. I loved that picture of Gants wearing boots, that was funny! ^.V.^

Please don't bump old threads. You can put "sage" in the e-mail field to prevent bumping an inactive thread.

Ok, I'm sorry Slinkoboy. Thanks for teaching me the Sage thing, that should keep me from making the sane mistake again.
