A.k.a. 'ohgodhowigethereinotsogoodwithmakingquest'

Hope you don't mind me making a discussion thread for this. I figured it'd be useful to have a place to discuss and ask questions about both the quest and Starcraft lore in general.

For instance, I played the original Starcraft quite a long time ago, and I never got around to playing Brood Wars... so I'm not very clear on the canon history. From what I can remember, the main government in the Koprulu Sector was the Terran Confederacy, which was overwhelmed by the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran rebels, namely the Sons of Korhal lead by Arcturus Mengsk. It collapsed and was replaced by the Terran Dominion with Mengsk in charge. What happened in Brood Wars? And I don't remember the Kel-Morian Combine playing a role at all, unless that was in Brood Wars too.

That's mildly helpful, but it doesn't mention the Kel-Morian Combine at all. Plus, I was hoping for a brief summary here to bring people up to date on just what they need for the quest, not overwhelm potential readers with the abundance of information wikis tend to provide.

the KMC are basically greedy resource merchants. They supply to whoever can pay. They did, however, give support to Raynor in the form of mercenaries and political cover.
