Alright, boyos, listen up. I'm gonna be doing a Call of Cthulhu adventure on IRC, and I'm looking for investigators. So far I've got 2 guys enlisted, but I'm gonna need a couple more. It'll be my first attempt at GMing CoC, so I'll probably use a pre-generated adventure to start things off easy. Where and when will be determined once I know the availability of all involved.

If you're interested in playing, post in this thread. If I get too many, I'll probably either make 2 separate groups and alternate between the two, or just rotate the players within the group.

So what do you think?

I'll give it a go, seeing as I have 0 experience in such things, may as well start somewhere and how hard could it be?

Sure why not, how we gonna get this started?

Awesome, 4 players total.

Alright, so this is how it's gonna go down. We'll be doing this over IRC, so if you don't have that yet, you're gonna want to get it. You'll also probably want to torrent the CoC rulebook, for character creation and understanding the way the game works and stuff like that.

And also I'll need to know when all the players are available to play. So everyone who's playing, post your availability in this thread so I can work out when to have our sessions.

Once we have time-slots decided, the players may want to chat with each other about what kind of characters you want to make, in order to have a well-balanced team. Once time-slots have been decided and everyone's made a character or two (character mortality rate is high in Call of Cthulhu, so always have a backup!), we'll actually get to start playing. All sessions will be done on the #CallofCthulhu server.

Okay... I'm Australian but currently my time slots are free all day and all night, I have CoC 5th edition rulebook, and people may want to download Byahkee character generator. (I recently joined a game that didn't go very far) And #CallofCthulhu on which server? Rizon.net or something else?
>>
No. 1860 ID: 1e1932

>>1859

Rizon.net. The same server we use for #RubyQuest.

I'm up and generally available anytime from 20:00 at night and beyond, I can keep myself awake 'til at least 06:00 in the morning.

GMT standard (London effectively).

Biggest problem I'll have is just reading through a rulebook but that shouldn't be one.
>>
No. 1866 ID: 007a2e

Wait which edition?

I just found a 6th edition CoC rulebook and the Byakhee CG (Just use the 301 bit I assume)

But I just spotted someone else using the 5th edition.

We'll be using 6th edition.

1920s, naturally. :P

Sweet.. that means I have a character that just needs equipment and he is done. (Thank god for the basic similarities between 5th and 6th)

Sounds quite interesting.
Gotta torrent some stuff, but I'd love to play.

As for schedule, I'm in EST and work nights (from 10 pm on) but I am free all day from morning till evening except Wednesdays.

Alright, based on everyone's availability, it seems like the best available time-slot for our games would be on Saturdays starting at 12:00 Pacific Time.

All in favor?

>>1987

Right, that'd be 7 in the evening on a Saturday for me then, I can do that no problem.

Hey, B5 here.

I said I'd play, but my comp's dead at the moment so I probably won't make it. I'll let you know if my status changes.

Q, Clan, we still need your verification 'fore we can get this party started.

2 saturdays from today, actually. My last day of work is next saturday.

My computer's fixed (enough) for now.

Do you prefer pre-made characters, or for the characters to be made in the first session?
>>
No. 2119 ID: 34d3ad

>>2112

I think it would probably be best for characters to be made during the first session, so that the players can decide on what roles they wish for their characters to play, in order to create a balanced party.

And now that I have your attention, I would like to remind whoever's playing that our first session will be on Saturday, September 19 at noon. That means 4 days from today. Don't forget!

Sorry what? There's something... distract... ish.

Alright, there seems to have been a little error in when the sessions are. A couple of folks showed up an hour early and then disappeared, thinking that I was late. Allow me to clear away any misunderstandings:

SESSIONS ARE ON SATURDAYS, BEGINNING AT 12:00 U.S. PACIFIC TIME. THAT MEANS 19:00 GREENWICH MEAN TIME, 20:00 BRITISH SUMMER TIME.

I'm interested, I'm available on Saturdays/Sundays pretty much all day. Extraordinary circumstances will be pretty much the only thing keeping me from playing.

Feel free to drop by at the scheduled time, then. :D

That was a pretty awesome first session, bros.

Next time though, we might want more than just 2 guys and a bloke we randomly pulled out of #RubyQuest to show up.

Thanks to cragum for being that bloke.

I think we're missing Q and Clan.

It's easy to learn. You can torrent the rulebook and take a look if you like.

Alright, I'm gonna be out of town over the weekend, so no session this week.
>>
No. 2786 ID: 2819cf

Sorry for being around for the past few weeks. I've had lots of stuff to do. But I'm free now, so we can resume sessions again. Of course, assuming enough people show up.

Saturdays at noon. The usual place. You know what you doing.

An curious question, from a mythos lover, but not an owner of the CoC system itself.

A friend of mine has the book and proclaims to dislike the system because Physical and Mental attributes have little, to no effect on one's Skills.

Is his complaint valid, or did he miss something important?

I never really noticed one way or the other.

If so, I'm interested, if I can get the schedules to work. Livin in crazy moontime europe.

Torrent the CoC rulebook and read up. That should tell you everything you need to know to create a character and get a sense of how the game is meant to be played.
>>
No. 2843 ID: 1e1932

My step-mom decided that it would be a good idea to spring some last-second assistance bullshit with a party she's throwing tomorrow, so I won't be able to host a session this week.

Damn, at this rate we'll NEVER get to show that smartass spirit who's boss!
