HellMOO is a post-apocalyptic text based role-playing game. It is set after an atomic conflict has brought down the great civilizations of the 21st century. Enough time has passed that some towns and vestiges of society have returned, but not nearly enough to curb the inherent violence and conflict of a life lived without comfort or salvation. Corporations both ancient and new sit astride the few surviving cities like obscene, glittering spiders, wielding their power over their desert domains without question and without mercy. The fake smile, the furtive stare are the weapons of the city-dweller, forever dependent on their corporate masters for protection against the raiders and radioactive sands. Yet a few wander the wastes, living off the bones of the old world and whatever justice they can find at the end of their gun. Only time will tell who is stronger.

Here are a few of the things our players have said about HellMOO:

"The shocking depravity of HellMOO is really a huge asset, because it makes the initial stages of the game entertaining enough to get past that early MUD hump. This style of game tends to have a significant learning curve and time investment before the real fun happens. In HellMOO, you're hooked by discovering all the terrible things you can do to orphans, and all the while the depth of the game is subtly revealing itself. In the average MUD you have to slog through a bunch of horribly boring shit with the hope that something fun might come out of it later."

"The more I play this, the more I love it. Unbelievably awesome work. I never knew what a terrible person I was before. Thanks, HellMOO!"

"I think the best way to describe HellMOO is a hundred thousand Troma flicks smashed together into something you can interact with. Assfucking zombies, having plutonioum-rod fights, smoking a bong full of hyperganja and having a stick of dynamite go off in your hand because you forgot you lit it - you can pretty much do anything as long as it's ridiculous."

... [E]ven the most mundane experiences will have some of the madness of the later game spill over. There have been portals in the orphanage leading to a thousand feet above the ground, a zombie plague, armor made from the skin of CHUDs, and gay pornography featuring one of the administrators of the game being molested by men in ten gallon hats, and that’s just the stuff I’ve seen without leaving a two block radius of where I started .... This has potential to be a continually amazing experience.

I... seriously. I took it with me to kill punks with my bare fists, rob an idiot in a bar using the magic of drugs, and have a touching conversation with a young girl that ended with me nursing both her and my baby to sleep. All while being a retarded vampire and having to play with it/nurse it constantly. <3 best game ever

So hey, I tried giving this a fair shake but apparently took a wrong turn in the orphanage and wound up in the sewers and now I am completely lost. So yeah, I am good thanks. :x

You forgot to mention the horrible rape every player inevitably suffers.

Nope haven't been raped yet! I had all my shit stolen but the guy gave it back so I don't think that counts.

Trolling regardless, HellMOO is a fun game guys! Like I said, I have a corp set up for anyone from here who'd like to try the game, and if you contact one of my alts or use the built-in orphnet for help we can get you well on your way to raping, whoring, murdering and pillaging.

Hey, I remember trying this a little while ago.

In the first few hours, I killed and raped several dogs, monkeys, and orphans, was raped, murdered and decapitated by a player, and I was stabbed to death by a nun shortly after I tried to molest her, and promptly had all my stuff stolen from my corpse. Then I decided to just whore myself out to NPC's in an old hotel until I could afford clothes and a knife.

I really ought to start playing again. I'll be sure to check out that corp, too, if I do.

Fun game, too much grinding for my taste, though.

Eh, the grinding kinda fades away after a while, I don't mind it too much.

I'm the guy who complained about the grinding earlier. (>>312645)
I heard they actually took measures to cut the grinding back, such as XP for travelling and doing certain jobs, such as bounty hunting. However, you'll still need to work of contracts if you want money for the good stuff, as far as I know, I haven't played in months. I'd say you should give it a shot.

None that I know of, I'm hesitant to explore much of HellMOO because I'm mortally afraid of losing my shit.
