So it looks like a couple core players to our main game won't be there Sunday. So I was asked to run a one shot. Well I dipped into my usual bag of tricks and everyone groaned. Then after great contemplation I ran across this picture. A lot of my group digs Stargate so I figured what the hell. Why not a game about a decade or two after the SGC goes public and all the zaibatsus get their greedy little fingers into the galactic pie. Perhaps a story about some sort of terrorist backlash to humanity's progress throughout the stars.

Gentlemen I propose Stargate: Space Vietnam.

The current idea is that one of the forgotten Goa'Uld commits a terrorist act on one of the independent off world colonies. This causes a massive over-reaction by a cold war mindset Earth. Without any real organization or thought the, now international, SGC throws team after team through gates in an effort to find and apprehend those responsible.

The PCs play a team that quickly discover that Earth has simply replaced the Goa'Uld in the people of the galaxy's mind.

Okay maybe it's more Stargate: Space Iraq. The point is I know only bits about Stargate fluff and I am stymied as to what system to do this in. I personally would use either nWoD or BESM 2nd edition because either can do whatever I tell them to. One of my players proposed Savage Worlds but I played Deadlands when it first came out and despised the system.

Drop any thoughts or comments here I will check back constantly.

Other than guys with guns what else is there really to play in the Stargate universe? Can I let players be Jaffa, or Tok'Ra. Side note: I had to look those two up just to spell them, turns out there's all kinds of alien races. Who knew? So should I come up with a couple alien soldiers for the group? Also does any race or group have "powers" that would make for an interesting character?

Have someone play a Wraith. Or better yet a sentient hive ship.
