Leave this running, post results.
A genetic algorithm! I love GAs but I suck at using them! Did you make this?
Seems like they're mostly going to look like these.
Or maybe not.
About three or four hours.
Some 5 hours I think.
Driblis has started this application at 6:45 AM. I will let it run till I come home. It's a rather dumb algorithm by all appearances though.
>>1410 Actually, scratch that, starting at 7:30 because I am retarded and closed the window.
5 Hours
What's weird is the simulation won't let the vehicle go as far as it can go, almost like there's a time limit. A tad disappointing. Perhaps it's broke?
Doesn't this type of stuff prove that evolution works?
>>1413 Maybe it chooses the next generation based on distance traveled in a certain time besides survival. Also, after 10+ hours.
>>1417 It's almost always a bad idea to try and prove things with computer models running simulations. I had a bookmark that explained really well why that is, but I can't find it right now, so here's a something I found in google that seems to hit on similar areas. I have no idea about the rest of the site: http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/hutchison/070711 Basically, you can make a computer do any damn thing you want. Kind of like when you want to prove a theory, and go look for evidence that supports it. It's just bad science.
>>1410 Driblistown, 7:30 to about 6:45 now, so 11:15 hours. Pretty dull to be honest.
Yes, it has a pretty low time limit. Annoying.
12:30 - 19:00, so ~6.5 hours.
>>1413 >What's weird is the simulation won't let the vehicle go as far as it can go, almost like there's a time limit. There is. It's measured by how far they go in X time.
>>1441 Essentially... I mean look at Dwarf Fortress, that's a fantasy world simulator being created by a single Mathematics Doctorate (almost everything in the code is of his making) with a defined goal, full time. He still questions if it will ever be a complete simulation when he gets Dwarves planting beds or killer masses of groundhogs flensing people with their sharp eyes (literally sharp eyes, he made a slight mistake in restricting attacking parts and their whole face was designated an attack site.)
>>1451 Simulation ended at 9:34. Boring times.
Mine's still going. I think I'm at something like 12 hours, and it's wonderfully boring. I guess I'll leave it on overnight just to see of something interesting happens, but I doubt it will.
With 2 red circles and 2 blue circles it will always end up with a more or less triangular form with both red balls together and as low as possible without hitting the ground on bounces. If it had 3 blue balls it might end up with more interesting shapes (like say a triangle that spins around and keeps going).
30 hours of this running. It stopped using any shape other than this one a long time ago. Boring.
54 hours and it still has not finished. Fuck it.
It wound up with various variations of this. >>1549 Uh, it's never going to "finish". It'll just keep refining the design, approaching some kind of local optimum.
Running continuously since this thread was first posted.
What is this, I don't even. Pretty cool though.
>>2118 Self assembling bicycle.
shit keeps falling down through the track, faster with each generation.
